Pho Please is arguably the best pho place in Austin. Coming from Houston though, this place is just above average. But after coming from a long weekend of climbing, outdoor activities, and going out on 6th Street, this pho definitely does the trick to helping you recover and soothe your soul. My favorite thing about this place though is that their portions are HUGE!!!! Their "regular" bowl of pho here is a lot of food! They really don't hold back on their noodle, meat, and broth portions which is amazing. All the typical add ins are provided, and the food always comes out piping hot. Just beware that this place does get pretty crowded during peak lunch/dinner hours. You order at the counter when you walk in, and you can't get a table until they assign it to you when you order. BAD BAD BAD customer service!!!! I ordered Vietnamese iced coffee and it was way too mild. It tasted like Folger's drip coffee with little bit of condensed milk. I brought it up to the manager and told him it's not strong at all nor sweet like real Vietnamese coffee. Well, long story short, he wanted to charge me full price to add more coffee to make it better. He ended up giving it to me without any extra charge but still he got me upset that he was trying to charge me for a new cup of coffee. read more

This has always been a great restaurant with great food at reasonable prices and plenty of food served. During the pandemic they are doing curbside pick up with online ap that allows you to order and pay and show up to pick up your food. I ordered the pork chop for vermicelli bowl and this was packed with two large tasty barbecued pork chops on top of vermicelli noodles with lettuce and vegetables. Yelp really let me down on this one. Was craving pho in Austin and this seemed to have the best/most reviews, but sadly anyone who thinks the pho is good must have never had good pho before. Restaurant was fairly big and crowded so I thought that would be a good sign. You order first at the register and then find an open table to sit down at and they bring your food out to you. Unfortunately the food was all around not good. The broth is lacking in depth and deepness, it's just missing flavor, it almost tasted like water. The rare steak is supposed to be tenderloin but if so, it's the lowest quality and least tender tenderloin I've ever had. Just tastes like normal low quality beef eye round. Also something that truly bewildered me was that they won't give you green onions for your pho. The menu literally says pho is garnished with scallions, but the pho came out with no green onions/scallions so I asked the small Asian woman still wearing a mask who I assume might be the owner and she said they don't have green onions. Which is rubbish because a moment later, I saw her bring out a rice dish with green onions on the top as a garnish. So I went up and asked the cashier for green onions and she went to the kitchen and the same little masked woman came over and said no green onions. Not sure if this is a cost cutting measure for the restaurant, but this is a cost cutting measure for me because I will not come to this restaurant again. What kind of pho place refuses to put green onions on pho and lies about not having them... I would avoid coming here. Also I tried the grilled shrimp fresh spring rolls as I thought it was interesting to have grilled instead of the normal plain boiled shrimp in them, but they didn't taste good it was just soy sauce flavored shrimp that shrunk down considerably from being over cooked. A decent viet place with some good staples. The pork belly buns came as bits of pork pieces rather than the single piece of fatty pork belly that we were expecting. The seasoning on it was very similar to the chicken that was on the banh mi. The banh mi sandwich was massive and the pickled veggies were very tasty. The pho was alright, but lacked the beefy essence of other vietnamese places. The beef meatball seemed very homemade though. Tendon and tripe pieces were huge. Just landed in Austin and was really in the mood for some hot soup. Found this Vietnamese place that had great reviews and really wanted to try it out. I am happy to say that we enjoy the food very much. The broth had lots of taste and the summer roll with shrimp was very yummy. They also had a self serving area that if you want it more toppings such as jalapeños, cilantro, onions, lime and etc...you can get more. That was a nice touch! This is a pretty decent pho spot. I wanted a pho with more lean beef, so at the cashier's suggestion, I ordered the brisket pho. The meat was a bit fattier than I would have liked but the pho had a great flavor. I also ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee. Quick pho for under $10. I'm used to just grabbing a free table at pho places so I was surprised to see that Pho Please reserves tables for you after you order at the front. This definitely makes it a little easier when you have a group and you want to sit together as each table is marked with a number they assign after you pay. For under $10 I got the pho please bowl filled with the variety of meats (meatballs, brisket, rare meat, etc) and it was enough for two meals. The second thing I was shocked to see was how fast they are able to deliver the food to your table after ordering. In less than 5 mins the bowl of pho was at the table with the side of bean sprouts, mint, and lime. The pho here was OK. The broth was decent but I would have liked it to be a little more piping hot when it got to our table. They give you plenty of rice noodles and meats so you will leave full. If you want some Sriracha or hoisin sauce you'll need to grab saucers near the drink area. Our other friends ordered the baos and the spring rolls and they said they were pretty good too and come two to an order. If you want coffee the Vietnamese coffee is here is pretty good too. Pho Please- basically the perfect location. I am a Vietnamese food enthusiast, and when I visited Pho Please while in Austin for a quick dinner date, I was so impressed I had to review! The really great thing about Pho Please is the range they offer in one shop- very nicely crafted bubble teas, some artisanal ones in mason jars, and some of the quick to-go options (we tried the Lychee green tea and Peach Tea with Boba) and the level of sweetness (medium- not overpowering) and texture (tender, but not tough) of the tea and boba was perfect. The tea tasted like tea, not just fruit juice or sugar, and the prices were very reasonable at 4.00-6.00$ per tea, depending on the size and add-ins. Service was quick (less than 10 minutes), clean and staff were friendly, offering recommendations on the menu. We got the Bao Buns (5.50 for two medium sized buns) and the Bahn Mi (8$ for a LARGE Bahn mi- could easily have fed two people). The Bao Buns were beautiful and well put together, and the vegetables (could have had a bit more flavor, but that was easily fixed with some chili oil) on both items were fresh. Pork portions were even on both the Bahn mi and the Bao Buns- you didn't feel like you were eating just bread or veggies while consuming either, which I appreciated. Pho Please has a mad decent vegan pho! On a cold wet night, mama wanted noods and she was lead here. I took the pho back home and heated it up. I like my pho to be extra hot. It's a nice ambience, very clean and very modern. The vegan pho has great flavor in the broth, though I felt the tofu could have been more flavorful and fell a little flat. The reason I wasn't completely satisfied with my experience was the quality of the food. I ordered the wonton pho and shrimp spring rolls. Most of the wontons had shrimp shell scraps mixed into the meat, which made it basically inedible to me. But I was able to remove the wontons from the pho and still enjoy it. The pho itself, minus the wontons, was delicious. The shrimp spring rolls also had some parts of the shell still on the meat. Despite these issues, I would still give this place another shot and would recommend it. The atmosphere was really great and the people that work there are so nice and friendly. Amazing Pho! The condiment bar as an interesting twist. I had lean brisket and my wife had the vegan pho Chou. Both were so good!! One small complaint , this is an order at the counter type of place. You order and they give you a number. You sit whenever and so Rome brings you the soup. I'm fine with this arrangement. However, when you pay they give you three options for leaving a tip. The minimum is 18%!! That seems crazy to think that without a waitress and having to order at the counter that the least amount someone should tip was 18%. Little portions for high price. Pho was ok but the spring rolls were not. The bbq pork spring rolls not taste chargrilled and had weird flavors. I also heard that this place has the more better pho in the surrounding areas and if they were the case, I think I'll pass on Austin pho. Vietnamese coffee also tasted not good. They had the Du Monde tins laying around so I don't think it was powdered but I hope it wasn't mixed with other coffees. read more
