Man, this place has fallen from grace. We used to come here really often. It was our go-to pho place. Now we hit up Saigon Bay on Howe Ave. as they have an XXL size pho bowl. First of all, the service was nicer in the past. Not great and sometimes you get one of the meanie ladies but better attitudes and service in the past. Our waitress came with a good serving of scowl. It looked like if you asked her for anything she would cut you right up and toss you in with the pho! lol. Her helper was really nice though. A nice young man who served with a smile. Now as for the XL Pho Dac Biet. It was only filled to about 2/3 high. It totally used to be filled higher to the top. Maybe a meanie lady filled it now. Everything seemed to have less of it. Less broth for sure, a little less rice noodle, a bit less meat (they used to put tons of meat-which is why I loved this place before) and same or less onions. The broth is pretty good today. But a little less spiced than in the past. It seemed like something was missing or off. It was decent, but I remember it tasting better long ago. When paying, the guy ringing up (owner?) is not all that nice. He does not ask if you liked the meal etc. It's all business. Run the credit card, drop the receipt for you to sign, trade copies/return card and barely an utterance of thanks or see you next time. Again, it used to be nicer when the old owner rang up and said a few words or three. MY TAKE: Negatives: Possibly under new ownership. They seem to be cutting back on everything including the bean sprouts, jalapenos and mint/basil. Broth not as good as before. Crappy location and dirty as all hell outside and a bit inside too. The bathroom is probably a 50% on cleanliness/dirtiness. Very difficult to find a parking spot. Almost get hit when backing out as the spots are not angled and are close to one another. Positive: They open until midnight for that late night pho craving. Portion size still better than most even with the cutbacks. CONCLUSION: Completely sad to see a go-to spot for years head south in many areas. Whatevs. Pho places are a dime-a-dozen in South Sac and there are many ones to yet to discover. read more

My favorite pho place in Sacramento and I've tried several places in Sacramento. It's a bit of a drive for me compared to other pho places near where I live, but I still make the drive because it's that good. Great portion size and they give a lot of meat in your pho, too. If you are a vegetarian, do not go here for pho. They only have one size of vegetable pho, which is completely flavorless. As a Pho lover and someone who has always loved to try new places to find some of the best pho, I can say Pho Saigon hits the spot with multiple sizes to choose from and many other dishes from the Vietnamese good culture I give them a thumbs up. As far for why I only give 4 stars as a rating is due to service, although the food came out quickly, our server for got some of our drinks and when I asked for a small container to mix my sauce she quickly forgot to bring it out to me. So service does have room for improvement. This was a good size place and many tables available inside to accommodate large groups, many children were there and they do offer high chairs for the little one's. It's always great to have a hot, steaming bowl of pho in the late night. I love that this place is open late and is in a convenient location with ample parking. The main thing other yelpers were unsatisfied with about this restaurant is the service. I personally think the service is great! They are straightforward with no B.S.! If you want something, you can call the waiters/waitresses and they will get it for you. Other than that, they leave you alone to enjoy your meal in peace with your friends. It was my first time here. I was going to go to a different pho place but I drove by this place and said hey! Might as well try out one I've never tried before. When my boyfriend and I got in there we wanted to watch the fight that was going on and they were playing it on the tv. We wanted a good spot near a tv. Long story short we literally got moved around 3 times before getting sat somewhere. When we got sat the lady who seemed like the boss who was a totally rude person to us and the staff said she wanted to move us because we're sitting in a big table. I said no, we're staying here we've been moved too many times. That lady has some serious attitude and needs to take a lesson in customer service. Haven't been here for over a year and stopped in for dinner recently. I got the seafood combo noodle soup, the soup kind of taste like hot water with msg. What I love most about noodle soup is the soup, but I left it this time. The grill pork over rice was decent and was a good portion. Unfortunately, they don't have broken rice dishes here. I've come here about 7-8 times since it's close to my house and the consistency is there. Food: I recommend the fresh spring rolls, #1 Pho, and any of the rice plates. There is just enough flavor and the sides are fresh. Good broth to meat and noodle ratio for the pho. There is a lot of meat provided for the rice plates as well. Great ratio for the $$$. Bathrooms/Location: Overall, both areas could be a little cleaner. I do notice that it takes them awhile to clean up the tables, and sometimes when we sit down, there's still food on the seat or on the table. Service: After you are done eating, you walk up to the front and pay for your food. You have to call someone if you need water or something, which I'm okay with. The pho bowl was huge for a medium, I thought it was a large. There were a generous amount of meat to noodle ratio. The broth was lacking a bit and could be more hearty. Service was not that great even though it was outdoor seating and there were only four tables waited on. The spring rolls were refreshing and eggrolls were good but nothing special about them.
