I'm glad a new Pho restaurant opened nearby, finally got chance to try it. The interior is pretty nice, spacious, solid brown wood furniture, huge wall to wall art frame. And the service is tentative and warm. However the food can not match its star rating. I ordered combo pho and shrimp spring roll, both are decent, not the best I've had. I think House of Pho is better on taste and got more selections. I would say it's 3.5 stars for now, but will give it few more tries considering it's a new eatery. read more

#19 on the menu shows small crab claws like the ones served at pho tau bay and other more authentic pho restaurants and not the imitation crab I received. Asked for no squid but also did not receive the fish balls listed on the menu. When my girlfriend mentioned it to the waitress she said they've replaced them with salmon and dismissed us. Stopped in here for pho on a cold, rainy night. Located in a small strip mall on Blossom Hill Road. My friend and I both got the combination pho bowls. She got a "dessert" drink and I got a Thai iced tea since I knew I had to get some work and studying done. The pho broth is good and this place wasn't stingy with the meats or sprouts either. Bad service. Today I knocked over a glass of water, I know, my bad. I looked for a waiter and he immediately gave me the look of "look what you did!" And shows a gesture which would mean 1 second/minute(?). So we waited and waited while the water was dripping and going out of control. We want to manage but there is no means.I tried to get a wipe or someone with a wipe but they all turned their face the other way. 3 minutes later, the waiter dropped a small pile of napkins on our table and with no words he turned a way. I would say that implies "take care of your own mess". So we start wiping, doing our work. Soon all the napkins are wet and the water was not disturbed. No one has any intention to offer any help. I had to get more napkins myself. At the end, after around 7,8 minutes, during the third time I get more napkins, someone finally came with a wipe. "Ok, ok, stop wasting our napkins, I'm here" I must have heard. Though it was kinda of funny writing this but I was really embarrassed during the whole time. With the water running and people from other tables watching, time flows really really slow. The attitude was unacceptable and I have never seen any restaurant handle the situation this way (and yes, I have knocked over glasses before). Bowls starting $9+ for regular/small. Some #TRUTHS & Disclaimers for everyone to know: (1) GETTING THE LOW DOWN LOCATION Pho Spot is right in the middle between South/West San Jose and Los Gatos...two of the LEAST VIETNAMESE/ethnic minority areas around here. Most times when I visited, and particularly the last dine-in experience, my family and I were the only ones who were Asian, let alone Vietnamese. Is that usually a good sign? No. But in this case, it's quite normal to see local community members support their restaurant...and you guessed it, the community around Pho Spot isn't Asian nor Vietnamese. But the restaurant isn't empty! On a weekday dinner night, it was quite packed. Good for Pho Spot! (2) WHAT SHOULD I TRY? When you go to a Pho place, YOU NEED TO TRY THE PHO. Any of their pho offerings is pretty decent. I enjoyed their Tai (rare steak), Nam (flank steak), Sach (tripe) and the quality of meats were pretty tender and juicy. If you feel adventurous then try out other entrees and whatnot but do NOT expect accurate delicious authenticity for the bun bo hue, seafood soup, broken rice dishes (com tam), etc. It's like going to a burger place that serves salad and hot dogs and expecting them to serve the most vegetarian-approved salads and heavenly hot dogs...No it's just not going to happen. In this case, pass on anything that IS NOT pho. My mother tried the "new" item, bun bo hue aka spicy beef noodle soup. And sorry to burst your bubble, it's totally NOT authentic. The round noodles were smaller and not of proper kind, and there were no pig's blood (huyet), pork slices (cha), and pork bone/hock (gio heo). The beef slices were taken from their pho stash and not properly seasoned (more lemongrass, MORE!!!). Stick to the pho, trust me. (3) HOW IS MY PHO MADE? There is No SUCH Thing as a "HEALTHY" bowl of PHO. If there was NO MSG or any similar substitute, or if it was organic and cage-free, etc., then your bowl of pho would be $15+++ guaranteed. Vietnamese people have a good idea on how pho is cooked, and anyone who's cooked pho before knows the real way to do it (simmering bone soup) and the fake cheap way to do it (bouillon cube). My mother and I actually praised the soup flavor, we were leaning towards believing they do it the "real way". If you want a pho bowl voided of MSG, it'd literally taste like canned broth and bland noodles. Just no, no. (4) SERVE ME NOW Nice Friendly SERVICE but not Knowledgeable. First and foremost, it's a hit or miss if you get a Vietnamese employee or someone who even speaks the language. I am 100% fluent in English (duh) but when I'm at a Vietnamese restaurant, it's all about the mother tongue, hunty. They were nice, but the service itself was meh, short-staffed and overwhelmed. On a busy Friday night, there were only two servers for a full restaurant on top of to-go orders. Yikes! (5) LIBRARY'S OPEN The menu used to be entirely in English but they changed it up and added Vietnamese words! Hallelujah! Don't get me wrong, I'm not some kind of Vietnamese linguistic guru, but I've always relied on the Vietnamese food terminology to order my favorites. I get that they are trying to simplify the menu for the local folks. Last comment on the prices, it's PRICEY for pho but the portions are huge...Bigger than it's neighbor down the road *cough* and quality is better comparatively too. Starts out $9+ for a bowl or small/regular pho and $10 for a large, but you always leave feeling full. If you wanted cheaper pho or smaller portions, then you can truck down 20 minutes to King/Capitol or Tully/King. Cheers to this local pho spot! ;) read more

Great take out experience! With the many food sensitivities of my family, pho is an easy go to food we can all enjoy. Finding a good place close to the Los Gatos hills can be difficult. Pho Spot is great and will be our new restaurant to head to for a Mom's night off in the kitchen. Broth was tasty and tendon was really nicely done..,not always the case. There was a small mixup in my order, but the staff corrected it and when my older father had to go back down the hill to pick up missing items due to miscommunication they got it handled quickly for us. I created this yelp account just to leave this review. I ordered a rare steak pho and iced coffee togo and arrived early to pick up my order right when it came out. I took my order to Belgatos park (2min drive) and the broth wasn't warm enough to cook the rare steak. The iced coffee was filled to the brim with ice so there wasn't much coffee to drink at all. I called for replacements and the gentleman at the front desk said no and that it was totally ok for them to serve me broth that wasn't hot. I hate leaving bad reviews but want to let others know that there are establishments more deserving of your business. read more

It's hard to review an establishment that serves tasty food. This place is in a location where it is convenient for school and doctors. The service is just amazingly lacking. We ALWAYS have to get their attention when we need something. Water. The check. Or simply ready to order!! It is amazing that everyone who works here does not care to be there. We as a family went there today for an early dinner. After my husband and daughter were served their dishes, we noticed that I was forgotten. Quite some time had gone by too. Did it not look weird that I was the only one not eating? We all kept staring at them too. We had that "where's my food?" Look. Guess that did not get their attention. My husband finally got someone's attention and found out that the server who took our order was new. We even witnessed this very new server take her own meal and sit down to eat, while I had no meal. Ordered a viet iced coffee. Received a cup full of ice with a tiny dash of coffee for $5. I've ordered viet coffee from many other places and it's never been this much ice. The cup is basically all ice with the tiniest bit of coffee. I asked the girl waitress about this and said the cup is basically all ice and asked for a bit more coffee. She said this is the way it's "supposed to be". I told her I want to return it then because I'm not going to pay $5 for a cup of ice. AFTER I told her I would return it, she said she would fill it with more coffee... if she had just filled it with more coffee in the first place I wouldn't have even written a review. Pho Spot is a welcome addition to this part of San Jose, near Los Gatos, for Vietnamese cuisine. The mainstays are pho, the delectable soup that is served with noodles and side garnishes, vermicelli entrees which include your choice of protein atop shredded salad greens and cooked noodles, rice dishes and appetizers. The menu has been a work in progress as the owners tweak it here and there. The restaurant is clean and you rarely see a dirty table just sitting there unattended. Once a customer leaves, staff is quick to take away used dishes, clean the table and set it for the next customers. Service for us has been, for the most part, friendly and efficient. Whether you dine in or get your order to go, presentation of your food always looks delicious. We've tried quite a number of items but my fave is the grilled pork and fried eggrolls on the vermicelli entree selection. I also like the lemongrass chicken rice dish as well. The pho soups are mainly beef broth with the exception of the seafood special. You can taste the star anise in the beef broth based pho soups! The menu prices are not as high as others might want you to believe. Rent for this area is higher than the little pho cafes in the east side along Story and King so keep that in mind when you check out the menu. I love Pho Spot! This is the first Pho place I have ever been to it and I have been soooo many times. I always get the brisket pho. They always are SO fast and have been super consistent with their food, service is great and really good pricing for the amount of food you get. Personal Recommendations: I also get the spring rolls and egg rolls which are really great. For the vegetarian pho, my friends who are gluten free/vegetarian could eat it and with adding lime and sriracha sauce it was still really flavorful. I personally am not a fan of the chicken pho just because the meat is not as tender as the brisket. I have also tried the brisket flank, and the brisket eye round, and the rare meat one. I like how lean the regular brisket is which is why I would recommend that. Honestly the hosts are super helpful so they will help you find your perfect pho on your pho journey. One thing I have to say is that if I start on the noodles before I have too much meat and no noodles to eat it with so in order to keep your meat to noodle ratio consistent make sure you are eating the beef with the noodles. read more

Obviously no Vietnamese people We just finished up lunch here and the only positive thing about it was the food was barely edible, so I didn't gain too much weight as I barely touched my food. Cons: We came in and got seated. Nobody brought us menus so my husband had to be our waiter. Nobody came to bring us water or take our order until we flagged them down. It was at 1:30pm and the restaurant was not full. My mom ordered the #2 with meatballs. Her broth was so murky. It didn't taste anything like my bowl. I'm not sure if they ran out of broth and gave her something else, but I've never seen such murky water in pho. My husband ordered the calamari appetizer. Each piece was huge, but they didn't bring any plates for us. We had to flag down someone again and they brought us 2 plates..even though there was 3 of us. My husband's beef stew was runny and flavorless. Total bill for 3 people for pho was $50 + tax/tip. I have no idea how this is a 4.5 star pho restaurant. For sure it's not authentic. read more

The Pho is good here but am rating this a 2 star based on customer service and satisfaction. I have eaten here numerous times and order take out. However, tonight I received the order of Chicken Pho, returned home which is about 8 mins one direction and noticed it was barely warm. I heated it up on the stove. I called in to tell them of this and the customer service absolutely horrible. The only customer service and solution they recommended was to get back in my car and return it which is approximately a 24 minute trip between all three ways. I go out to eat quite often and have not been so dissatisfied in the way they try to retain customers. The right thing to do in this instance is to offer a refund or when you return to comp the meal. I will be not be telling more people of this restaurant and there are other options within the same distance to my house. read more

I can't put my finger on it. It's not bad, and if you take your pho spicy the way I do, then it's completely fine as the starting point for an angry red sriracha-infused pho base. However I always drink some soup plain first, and this soup is good and well-balanced but not as good as it gets. It's missing a little something. Nonetheless, I would absolutely return. This is a really great place. On an unrelated note, I locked myself out of my car after eating here. I called AAA. I gave my address. The agent on the phone said, "You're at 'Pho Spot'?" Me: "Yep". Agent: "How's the pho?" Me: "Pretty good actually! I enjoyed it... (went on to repeat the above review)." ... Time passes. Best pho place in Los Gatos! It used to be a Thai place. Tons of menu options and prices were reasonable. I ordered the Chicken pho and it had tons of noodles, chicken and the broth was very good. We came across this place recently, and it's quickly become a favorite for my daughter. So far her top pick is the brisket pho. Chicken was good, but the beef was better. Portions are big. Place was clean, light and airy. It was pretty full when we arrived considering it was lunch time. I ordered the combo pho. It was ok. The broth was decent, I just wished they have more spicy condiments for me to add to my soup. We also ordered the fresh spring rolls and I must say this was pretty free and decent however for the price, it was two rolls cut in halves. Service was pretty quick and attentive. Ordered from Pho Spot on DoorDash because I was craving pho during shelter-in-place. It came in less than 25 minutes and I was impressed. We got Chicken Pho and Combination Beef Pho and they were neatly arranged in huge plastic bowls with the soup in separate containers. The herbs, bean sprouts, jalapeños and lime were plentiful in a big plastic bag as well. The "L" portion size was enough for me to eat for two meals !
