Our go-to pho place in Almaden. Even though I usually order the wonton noodles from here, I'd say I've enjoyed everything I've had here otherwise: pho, iced coffee, spring rolls, young coconut juice, and banh mi. Service is usually decent, though when they get busy (and I've never seen this place empty) it can be a little harder to get their attention. But I'd say the food is good quality and decent value. read more

Years ago this was a Thai restaurant. Transformed into a spot now serving Vietnamese staples, the aesthetic is modern with dark wood elements and above average artwork. There's always something (usually pleasant) playing on the sound system. All in all, the ambiance scores better than most other restaurants in this category. The pho is good and keeps us coming back. Broth is the most expensive ingredient in a bowl - that being said, if you are a pho purist, you may be left wanting a more flavorful, slightly rounder textured broth. What I like are the noodle bowls (no broth) topped with protein and veggies. The portions are big! The only reason I am knocking off one star is that the service can be inconsistent. Most of the time the service is INDIFFERENT. But sometimes it's lacking all together. I can't say service has ever been rude. Nor can I say service has ever really been on the friendly side. Indifferent is the appropriate word. read more

Sad turn of events for loyal neighborhood customers. There's a short employee there who made a mistake and then lied about our order. This was very unfortunate because the rest of the young staff were very helpful and always have been. We ordered 2 orders of the crispy egg rolls which normally come with meat and shrimp. Instead we received vegetable egg rolls. We ate one order till we discovered something didn't taste right and identified we must have received veggie rolls. We called our waiter over who went and checked with an older, shorter, male employee. We watched them converse and our waiter returned and informed us, "Those are meat egg rolls." We said "ok" and then I cut open the egg roll to discover no meat or shrimp. (See the pic) We left them all cut open so hopefully they too would notice no meat, too. Disappointed we went to pay, and what do we see?! Veggie egg rolls on the check. We asked but short man was unapologetic. He said that we ordered veggie egg rolls, but how could he know? We explained to him that we saw the young waiter go and ask him if they were veggie and watched as he said, "those are meat egg rolls." He knew he was wrong so he tried to cover it up by blaming us saying we were confusing him. He flat out lied, then grinned, and cut us off by saying, "have a good night." Rude. Owner: i would have told you about this over the phone, but he wouldn't give us his name so we yelped. Bottom line: We would have paid for a third order to finally get the right egg rolls, but we were told that we already had them. Unbelievably poor service. I would be happy to come back and even change this review, but not with him there. By the way, none of this was the young guys fault. None of it. read more

Usually Pho places are the same - same taste, same menu, same ambience. The thing that sets Pho Spot apart is the taste. The broth is different and delicious. They also give you a great balance of protein and noodle ratio. The pork Banh Mi is bomb!! I've been here several times....my go to Pho place. read more

Solid. One of our favorite Vietnamese restaurants in the Almaden area. The sandwiches are perfectly crispy baguette they hollow out and pack it with bbq pork goodness. The pork rice plate was delicious. 9/10. I wish there was a bit more meat, but sill, the value was great and my tummy was filled. Egg rolls were nice and crispy; none of that soggy microwave crap. But also not too oily at the same time - just right! I took it to go at lunchtime, and the wait was about 5 mins. Not bad at all! The interior was clean and well maintained. Overall great experience. We looked at yelp for a pho place near us and Pho Spot seemed to have a pretty good review so we went there. We got there at 8:43 and it said they closed at 9. When we walked in the young man at the counter informed me they would be closing the kitchen in 5 minutes and if we could do our order to go. Pho to go never tastes the same so I said no We walked out and it dawned on me that it was 15 before they close. I understand being tired and wanting to go home but shooing away customers?! How completely ridiculous. We ended up going to Pho La and it was clean and friendly and the food was delicious! read more

Very nice pho place in Los Gatos. Who would have thought. We went in on a Sunday afternoon and the food was very nice. I had the pho and the chicken plate. I'm so sad to give this review but I felt I had to give the feedback. I love this place and have been ordering from it for a while. Unfortunately my last two orders came with hair!! One was inside the spring roll, and another order two weeks later had hair on the plate. It sucks but I will not order again. To the owners, you should have a strict hair net policy . read more

So far, the only pho place I've found in Alamden Valley where the staff actually speaks Vietnamese! I'm not saying that's a guarantee the meal will be good, but it's at least a decent indicator. :) Com Thit Nuong (rice with grilled pork) is done very well - almost to the level of Com Tam Tien Huong. The Bun Bo Hue is also good, if you like it on the spicy side. As of today, this will be my go-to Vietnamese place in Almaden Valley. read more

This WAS my go to pho spot. My friends and family even love this spot because of me. However, I will no longer be eating here. I'll also tell my friends and family not to either. Today, I ordered take out so I can enjoy it at home. I put the broth on the stove to warm it up and as I was taking the noodles out of the container there was a dead bug in my noodles. Seriously ?? It makes me wonder how dirty the kitchen is in the back. Find a new pho spot. read more

Needed a pho fix and this place was in the area. I ordered the chicken pho and asked them to add broccoli and carrots. I ordered a regular size but the bowl had a generous portion of noodles, meat, and veggies :))) The broth is light the way I like it and very hearty. The prices are on par with other food places in the area. People want $5 meals because that's what they were charging in 2006 (insert *eye roll*). I don't really understand reviews that complain about prices at small establishments in Silicon Valley. $10 for a bowl of pho is reasonable. Obviously go to Little Saigon if you don't want to pay $10, but if you're in the Cambrian area, it makes sense. People gotta pay rent. Sheesh. All in all, the chicken pho is good, the portions are generous, and the establishment is clean. Service is great when Kate is around, but average when she's not haha. I've been ordering takeout from Pho Spot for a couple of years now, and they never disappoint. Whether I'm craving a comforting bowl of pho or something different, the quality is always top-notch. Can I say delicious here on Yelp? Is it allowed? Because it really is delicious at Phot Spot! Some Pho restaurants skimp on the meat or they use cheap meat but here they have tender high quality meat. I would take the drive just to come here for lunch, it's that good. If you look at the photo, the broth is perfect. You don't see any fat floating at the surface and theres a lot of meat in the soup too. That just tells you once again the quality of the meat. we came here last Saturday with a group of five. As a noodle or Pho lover, I thought this could be a nice place in San Jose. The lemon grass wirh rice noodles and greens, just went wrong. The bowl was pretty big, but the chicken was pretty thin, it almost looked like a BBB where you mixed it all up and so I did, except I found 70% or so of the dish was rice noodles, I am taking a LOT of rice noodles. The fresh rice paper wraps were packed with crisp lettuce, herbs, fried crunch, and perfectly seasoned grilled pork sausage that had that smoky, savory flavor in every bite. My noodles tasted stale, kind of like day old noodles that sat in the fridge and got microwaved. There was a "fresh" noodle option, for an upcharge fee, which may have tasted better. I just think fresh noodles should be the standard for everything. I got the brisket and it was very dry and tough. Not really worth the money. I had the steak and brisket pho and an Italian soda. It's quite odd as I found I was the only Asian person in a pho establishment. The restaurant does seem to be very American culture friendly as the menu is only in English and there is no selections for tripe, tendon, etc on the menu.
