By far, my favorite pho restaurant in the Tacoma area! First the food; making pho is an art and it all starts with the broth. At Pho tai, the broth is perfect! The quality of this place has really gone down in my opinion. I always rant and rave about how it is one of my favorites in Tacoma. I called in a Togo order, showed up and it was wrong. I let them know and they very politely fixed it. The food is always fast so it was no issue at the time. I got home (I don't live close) and realized that again, it was incorrect. We then had to order something else closer for my husband instead of driving another 30 minutes to get it fixed again. I called and let them know and all I asked was to be refunded the amount of the one incorrect meal. They wanted me to drive back and when I said that I lived too far away, they wanted to give a credit but after this I don't believe that I will go back. *I never write bad reviews, I understand that things happen but this time it just really rubbed me wrong. This place has alright pho. Broth is kinda greasy but it will get the job done. Only plus about this place for me is that it opens really late, like 4 am. Good pho, service was super fast and food came out fast. I noticed the pho had less flavor than other broths but if you aren't picky you won't notice it. The bubble I got was pineapple flavored and left a starchy powdery feeling in my mouth. The avocado flavor didn't have that feeling though. read more

So we walked in at about 9:20pm and the girl asked if we were ready to order (we haven't even sat down yet) so we sit down and get our menus, and the girl comes over every 20 seconds to take our order, and then since we weren't ready she sat there just waiting. Then proceeded to say we close at 10pm, just rushing us. And when we were getting ready to get up and go the girl just comes over and starts cleaning the table before we even got up! I went here for the first time because it was close to the new house I moved to. The staff is always friendly and the food is good. A couple times that I ordered takeout they forgot to add some extras I had asked for like sauces etc which is why I didn't give it a 5. Another one of my faves! While the pho is not OMG quality it is good. Bbq pork sandwiches are a steal at $4.50 and you can't go wrong with the spring rolls. The atmosphere is fairly drab and the bathrooms suspect. If you're looking for some good grub late at night Pho Tai is a good place to start, but it can get pretty loud on Fri. or Sat. night. I have visited Pho Tai plenty of times. But my last time here made me write a review on Yelp. The service here has always been good. The staff is friendly and fast. The Pho is one of the best I believe in Tacoma. But my favorite is the Bánh Mi sandwiches. The bread is hot, fresh, and the insides are packed with flavor. The reason I gave this place three stars was on my last visit. My GF and I ordered fresh Spring Rolls. My GF opened hers up to take out the shrimp out and they weren't de-veined. I examined the rest of mine too and they were the same. I'll still eat here but I'll be staying away from anything shrimp. read more

My wife and I were in Tacoma so we decided to give Pho Tai a try and we're glad we did. The restaurant was very busy but service was prompt, the restaurant was clean, and the wait staff was friendly. Also, the price was quite low; We ordered two orders of pho, two spring rolls, a Pepsi, and a bubble tea and the total bill came to just over $20. The food itself was good but there was nothing to set the food apart from the multitude of pho places that exist all over the place. Poor customer service. Do not go there for bubble tea. Tried the strawberry had a horrible bitter taste . Yen argued with me about people have different tastes . I said my pineapple was too sweet but I'm still drinking it. My daughter's strawberry is just so bad I don't even think she should be drinking it. Yen wouldn't even try it. I am Vietnamese and this is probably the worst pho I have ever had. The broth was not flavorful or meaty. The noodles were not fresh and were undercooked. The meat was overlooked and not tender. I ordered my usual bowl and the waitress did not tell me when i ordered that I would have to pay an extra $1.73 for one and a half meatballs. Had I known while ordering, I would have changed my order. The meatballs tasted like they did not defrost them correctly and you could tell that they were previously packaged and not fresh. My friend also ordered a large bowl but received a medium instead. This might be the only service mistake that we have ever been happy about. Overall, very disappointed and surprised at how good of reviews this place has been receiving. Would definitely not recommend or wish this upon anyone else. read more
