Honestly, I thought this was a knock-off of the restaurant on William Cannon and Brodie. However, I was desperate for Vietnamese food in Kyle and decided to try it out. Upon arrival, I noticed the son of Pho Thaison (from South Austin) was greeting us. Immediately, my wife and I knew we were going to be in for a treat. We have been going to the S. ATX location for 16 years and watched this family oriented jewel flourish in the midst of Austin's boom. Their food is top notch and the family will help guide you through the menu to really point you towards something genuinely close to your heart when it comes to comfort food. I have never had anything I didn't like! Recommendations: Beef Stew Any of the PHOs Salmon Belly Ginger (clay pot) Again, top notch service that really reflects the effort put into their delicious recipes. Pho Thaison is passable at best. I would probably only go back if only if I were REALLY craving pho and wasn't headed downtown anytime soon. Great food and great people! It is not authentic Thai but most people could not handle full heat nor fish sauce, the tamarind based Pad Thai is flavorful and consistently good. Their Singapore dish is updated and better, all their pho is great! read more

EVERYTHING HAS IMPROVED! We went here for dinner tonight and have to give compliments to the chef as well as the wait staff! There were 7 of us in our party and we ordered 3 sushi rolls along with our entrees. All of our food and the sushi had excellent flavors and textures. Everything came out promptly and our server was very attentive. I know that the servers are new and willing to bet that the chef has changed as well. We love Vietnamese food. Coming from Fort Worth area, we had plenty of wonderful Vietnamese restaurants to choose from. Moving to Wimberley, this was the closest Vietnamese/Thai place we could find. YUCK! I could have made better Vietnamese food and I'm from Missouri!! Sadly, I won't be going back. There is a place in San Marco's that is a grocery/take out place on Wonder World Drive, west of I-35. that sells good Thai.... I'll stick to that. read more

This place is cute, and its something different in Kyle! I couldn't talk any of my friends to come and try something new with me, so I went by myself, and the servers were very nice and helpful since I am a Pho beginner! I had their Nigeri sushi, it was good, but the cut of fish was a little too big which made it a little obnoxious to eat, but it tasted good. I also had a simple beef pho, the broth and vegetable where SOOOO GOOD, fresh, and had a great depth of flavor, The cuts of meat were once again a little too large and difficult to eat, but still YUMMY! I love this place I come here pretty frequently their sushi is great I recommend to try "The Rock n' roll" so good I also love their seafood salad because it has a generous amount of seafood on it.. their pad tai is also good... Usually a reliable place for good food. Not sure if they were under staffed or if it was really "busy" lunch hour. Ordered 3 simple rolls...35 minutes later still no food. I just attempted to eat here with my boyfriend and while the food may be alright, the customer service leaves little to desire. When we walked in, 30 mins to close and not one person was willing to help us. After sitting for 5+ mins a lady came up and informed us that they are only doing to go orders. Not only is that completely ridiculous they way they handled it was unfortunate for business. After ordering the food to-go, it took 20+ mins to actually receive the food. The Pho is pretty good but the food hygiene is poor. Look out for hair in the soup. I tried the sushi last week. Big mistake. It was as if the dude making it had never made sushi before. Compressed balls of rice. Avocado that was brown. Not rolled, just kind of mashed together. Inedible. This was partly my own fault. I broke my sushi rule. If the guy making the sushi isn't Japanese then it ain't sushi. Won't be back again. Darn it, cause the Pho was half decent without the hair. read more

Best place to get pho in Kyle. If you are in the mood for sushi and a meal then order the sushi well in advanced. UPDATE 8/19/2015. Good news. Pho Thaison Kyle just let me know that there is a management and menu change in progress. I will give them a little time to revamp and then be very pleased to give them another try. It really grieves me to see local businesses struggle. The point of a difficult review, which is a marketing gift, is to hope someone is paying attention and willing to step up like a winner and take the challenge to improve. I wish them every success. It was never awesome, but adequate enough since it was local. Something happened along the way. The food quality and the abilities of the various cooks began a steady decline. Were things as clean as they should be? What sub quality of ingredients were showing up on the table? A few dishes were even so awful that I asked the waitress to speak to the kitchen about it. Feedback taken with respect is a precious gift to the restaurant owner. Having eaten authentic Asian for many decades, I do understand a service culture that is often different, letting many things go. But when you see a manager screaming at guests with legitimate issues on more than one visit, along with a food decline, you have to wonder. Then one day the repeat customer draws the short straw and is the recipient of an inexcusable tirade. Shortly thereafter a veteran with a well-disciplined service dog was the next beneficiary, as he was refused service and the manager screamed at him to just get out. That is illegal as well as immoral. Definitely unsupportable. read more

The food is great , but the service from one particular lady is worst ! The lady with short hair and tattoos has no courtesy , ask for orders from your back , very unpleasant , doesn't look like who wants to work or serve ! She should be fired or trained properly! On the contrary the Asian lady is very nice and does her job great ! Only one star , so that the owner notices this and acts accordingly - either fix her or fire her . Ordered a Thai Sour soup. Vegetable were few and far between. The dish was supposed to be spicy but they forgot to put the jalapenos in so it had zero heat. When I brought this to the attention of the gentleman at checkout, he said "Wow! That's an important part of the dish!" and then apologized, charging me full price anyway. Meh. I have been taking my family to this restaurant since they first opened. It is now the meeting place for my sons, nephews, myself and others on a regular basis. I drive from San Marcos and they drive from Austin. It is, in our opinion, the best pho thaison. I was extremely dissatisfied last night. When ordering takeout, I specifically requested extra basil and cilantro, as always. I was told it would cost a dollar extra! A first, but I went with it. When returning home, there was ONE measly sprig of each. With a total of about 6 leaves each! The "extra" was not there, and there was none with the bahn. I called them and the manager told me the her boss, Thyson, had instructed her to do so. She was not at all accommodating and was even condescending. I truly hope they go back to the service my family and friends have come to expect. We can certainly take our hundred + dollar nights elsewhere, foregoing tradition! read more

I had lunch there today and it will unfortunately be the last time I visit this location and it's too bad because I live in Kyle. Usually the service and food are good but today was very poor. Took 10 minutes before a server even acknowledged I was there and then never checked on me after the food was served, and never brought the check. The Pho was under par in that the broth was warm and there were maybe 3 pieces of meat. To top things off, I noticed as one of the cooks was walking from the bathroom into the kitchen, he pulled his shirt up and wiped his face - totally gross. read more

I usually am a fan of the Pad Thai. It s definitely not the best but for Kyle it works. However, my last visit ended my days of going here. The lady taking orders on the phone got our order wrong (my husband should have checked before leaving), but still...When we called back to let them know, the young woman that took our order by phone was extremely rude about it. I told her that they had lost us as customers and she said "oh ok." Very unprofessional. Although I love their slogan which I find quite clever, GO PHO IT, the pho is alright... its as good as it gets here in Kyle/San Marcos. I really wish they would offer bowl sizes like traditional pho shops. A medium-ish bowl for 8 is a bit high for pho. The side vegetables they offer are not fresh at all. But on the other hand, the sushi is pretty fresh... although I find it confusing as to why there is sushi at a pho shop but hey it works lol. The sushi is Neatly rolled and displayed beautifully.
