Bún bò Huế: lots of meat + hock, they give shredded banana leaf!!! That is the biggest pro because almost no where does that. Broth could be more flavorful in spices as he felt it was maybe too meaty in flavor and not enough spices. Not the best that we've tried in the area. Pho tai + bo vein: really good broth. But the steak pieces and beef meatballs were so so. I didn't take a picture because the bowl looked really empty since they give you so much soup but so little food pieces. But the plus side is that we took home the remaining soup and had a second pho with home noodles! They could also give more herbs because we only got 6 basil leaves total, but understandable as I imagine not everyone uses these and they don't want it to go to waste. We also got their chrysanthemum tea which was okay, it was not too sweet, and salted plum limeade which was okay. It didn't have the strong salted plum flavor that is characteristic of the drink and was rather meh. I would skip these two unless their batch of salted plum needs more time to ferment or something. read more

I will jump at any chance to try a new Vietnamese restaurant, so of course my husband and I found ourselves here. We were served a steaming bowl of pho and bun bo hue alongside a heaping plate of bone marrow. The restaurant was absolutely packed but I thought they handled it pretty well, especially considering how new they are. We waited maybe five minutes for a table and the food took a little time to come out but nothing extreme. The pho (I got the first one on the menu) comes in either small or large size. I got the large but was actually underwhelmed with the portion size. It was mostly just a huge serving of broth. The portion of noodles and meat was not what on par with what I consider "large" or even proportionate to the volume of broth. The flavor was good though, albeit a bit on the sweet side. Not my favorite pho in the area but a good enough option. The bun bo hue though was fantastic. It was a good portion size, adequate ratio of meat to noodles to broth. It is really hard to find a good BBH here, most of the restaurants in this area do a poor job. The broth here actually had authentic flavors and is probably the best BBH in the Cary area. The bone marrow looks massive but is a good size to serve 2-3 people. You need a knife and fork to cut away at it though as it's not tender enough to fall off the bone and the connective tissue requires some work. I am 50/50 on whether I would order this again. I would return for the BBH for sure. I need to try some of the other dishes such as the vermicelli and rice dishes or Banh hoi so I will be back! read more

This location has a broth that is just as good as the original Richmond location. The quality cuts of meat are good, but the noodle portions are small. If you prefer a more beefy broth, this is the place for you. However, I wish the servers were kinder. They were quite unfriendly in my opinion. Once my pho arrived, no one checked in on me or refilled my water. Ironically, when I first arrived, one of the workers just stared at me. When I asked for a table, he couldn't even seat me. Atmosphere: Pho Thien Phat is a newer pho restaurant in the Triangle. We went on a Friday night, and most of the tables were filled. Service: Our server was friendly, and our food came out relatively quickly. Food: We ordered the large Pho with Brisket and Flank (8) and the Hu Tieu (18, rice noodles with beef stew). Unfortunately, the pho broth was not as flavorful as we would have wanted and was unusually sweet. To add, we were underwhelmed with the portions of the large pho and felt that they were a bit light on the meat and noodles. The beef stew was quite flavorful in comparison, and the broth had a thicker, saucy quality to it. The beef chunks were generous and fatty, though could've been more tender. We also echo the same sentiment that the portions (especially the noodles) in the Hu Tieu could've been a bit more. Overall: We may have had too high of expectations for Pho Thien Phat. I got takeout for Pho Thien Phat tonight and my experience was pretty good overall. I ordered the pho ga and had to wait a bit longer than anticipated for my order, but it was understandable as they were very busy tonight. By the time I got home, my broth was still piping hot which was a big plus. The flavor of the broth with a bit of lime was incredible! Seriously, one of the best pho broths in the Cary area. The other additions to the pho (noodles, chicken), though, were a bit disappointing in terms of portion size. There were plenty of herbs, but there was a very small portion of noodles and bean sprouts. The amount of chicken was ok, but not much compared to other pho places in the area. Despite this, I would still definitely recommend trying out this restaurant-- the pho broth is super rich and savory, and the staff is very friendly. read more

It's baffling that this restaurant has a 4.3 stars. I've had bad vietnamese food but this has to be the worst. The Bun Bo Hue broth was so bland it tasted like water with a hint of meat even after I drowned it with the satay chili and limes, where's the lemongrass flavor and spices? It does come with A LOT of meat, like an excessive amount, but the thit tai (raw beef) was inedible because the broth was not hot enough to cook it. The large bowl of pho dac biet was a litttllleeee bit better but again, very bland with no spices. Didn't smell like pho and definitely didn't taste like pho. Also, how can it be "dac biet" if you don't have tendons or tripes? Service was practically nonexistent. No one came to take our order, utensils were not provided, no one checked on us, and no one gave us the check. When we needed something, we went to the front and had to flag someone down. Save your money, find a pho recipe online, and make it at home. I'm sure anyone can make better food than this "restaurant". read more

I first visited Pho Thien Phat for their durian smoothies, made fresh with real durian--such a rare find and a huge plus when ordering online! But I quickly discovered that their pho is the real star; the broth is incredibly smooth and packed with flavor, and the portions are very generous. They are only getting two stars because we still ate and service was decent for the situation they were in. Temperature of the food was warm at best. I have received pho before at other places and it's piping hot and you are burning yourself trying to g to eat it right away. I was very disappointed. And even more when I found that weird looking meat and I'm not the type of person to make a fuss to the wrong person. Yum so flavorful and tasty! Main reason I took off a star is because I was only able to place a takeout order at the counter. The phone line was busy, voicemail was not set up, and they did not have a website or way to order online (unless I missed it). Pictures of the menu were listed on their Facebook page. The menu includes helpful descriptions of each item. Luckily I was right across the street so it was not too far out of the way to stop by and place an order inside. The front door is located on the side by the handicap parking spaces facing Tryon. Ample parking is available in the lot. The restaurant is located in the same plaza as Lowe's Foods but is in a separate building closer to Tryon road. I was greeted by a friendly employee when I walked in. I informed her I wanted to place a takeout order and she immediately offered to take my order. It is easiest to use the numbers on the menu when ordering. I appreciated the extra time she took to confirm my order and even showed me the screen to make sure everything was correct. I ordered the beef fried rice without onions, vegetarian pho, and tofu rice paper rolls. I returned about 20-30 minutes later. My order was ready for pick up, accurate, and packaged well. Similar to other pho restaurants, the broth was packaged separately. Even with a 40 minute drive home, it was still warm when I opened it. I mixed the ingredients and heated it up some more before enjoying it. The fried rice and tofu pho were delicious! I did not like the tofu rice paper rolls. Typically summer rolls are my favorite part of the meal, but these tasted off to me. They almost tasted fishy. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our meal. The portions are large so we easily saved half for a later meal. Overall, we finished satisfied and recommend this restaurant to others! read more

I was pretty excited to try this place as it was all over social media. We order the grilled pork spring rolls, bun bo hue, chicken pho, and the tri colored drink. The bun Bo hue was extremely disappointing. The broth was cold and all the meat was very weird. It had this inedible thick fat and some of the meat wasn't even cooked. Even though bun bo hue isn't supposed to have raw meat. Regardless, the broth was so lukewarm that it didn't even warm the meat. The tri colored drink had a weird chunky texture from the coconut cream. It was chunky. It also had some raw kidney beans. Service wasn't bad.
