We have frequented Pho Tic Tac for years now, starting back at their original location in the Greenwood neighborhood. We love their pho broth, and often order the vegetarian/tofu option with beef stock. We also love their spicy curry pork because it's delicious and it makes us happy. read more

***Vegetarian-Only Review*** I've been ordering Pho Tic Tac's veggie pho nearly weekly for the last two years. They are consistently the tastiest veggie pho in North Seattle. I've also had good experience with fried rice, vermicelli, and other vegetarian dishes there, as well as their bubble tea and coffee. Used to be my favorite pho place whenever I'm in the area. Not anymore. Went in after luncb, and only one customer was there. I ordered my usual XL no. 20 which is steak and meatballs. The same waiter that always there took the order and even repeated the order. Got the order wrong, but didnt say anything, since it was still contain steak and meatballs in the soup. Got up and pay, the same guy rang in 10.95 plus 2 dollar plus tax, came up $ 14 some change. I said why the extra, he said well no. 26 is the combo, thats why its a dollar more. Not only he got my order wrong, he also charge extra $2 instead of $ 1 like he said. All I can say, just pay attention when they punch in the price on the register. Came back for lunch today and ordered a small beef round Pho. The broth: tasty and lightly fragrant with the traditional spices. Needed to be a little hotter though! The noodles: Perfect amount. BEST PHO RESTAURANT IN SEATTLE!! - hands down - Their shrimp pho has gotten me coming back for more, and their service is speedy, speedy, speedy!!!!! Their rice dishes are so so, but still good, and their chow mein reminds me of a vietnamese banquet party, so again nothing too special. Down right disgusting. We saw them saving and reusing the plates of USED bean sprouts, lime, basil and jalapeños. If you watch them clear tables, they will save the plates full of half eaten condiments and place them in the bottom shelf of the cart and refill and reuse them. Yuck. Wish we saw this before we had ate our food. We waited 10 minutes and still did not receive menus. After flagging someone down and asking for menus, the gal with green hair handed a menu to me and said, "so are you ready to order?" Uh, no. If we all had known what exactly we wanted I wouldn't have asked for a menu. When our pho arrived, I asked for chili oil because I didn't want to be rude and grab it off another table. The waitress looked around and said "we're out." I then got up, and took a full jar of chili oil from an empty table. I also saw about 10 jars behind the counter as well. After moving here over a year ago, I just had to investigate what all the hub-bub was about pho. My first two experiences were just meh...lackluster bowls of dishwater like broth, tough meat, and slimy noodles. I was ready to give up on this local dish until my husband insisted that I give it one more try, which is why we ended up at his favorite pho place: Pho Tic Tac. So THIS is what pho should taste like! I had the dumpling soup with egg noodles. Hub had one of the chicken bowls. Both were just the perfect soul warming food on this drizzly, cold winter day. I knew I was in for a treat as soon as we walked in the door and were greeted with the most homey smells wafting from the kitchen. Everyone around us looked like they were enjoying their dishes as I made mental notes for future visits. We also had the "crispy" egg roll appetizer with sweet fish dipping sauce. I ordered the "small" bowl and was ever so glad I did. I ate, and ate, and ate and still had plenty to take home. I cannot imagine what the "papa bear" size was like...thinking you could feed a family with it. The broth was golden and the toppings fresh and crisp. Very good pho here. The chicken pho, beef pho(s), and veggie pho are all done very well. Serving sizes are average, as are prices. The last five or six times I've come here, the broth was always well seasoned and very savory. It can get busy around lunch time, so I tend to come just after the lunch rush (it's near my work). Woohoo review number 200!!!!! By the beard of Zeus, this place is delicious!!!!! After hearing my wife talk this place up for the last few months, I was finally able to join her and enjoy this fabulous place. 5 stars: I will start with the crunchy egg rolls. They were perfectly fried and extremely crunchy with tons of flavor. I would have to say they are some of the best I have had in a long time. I really liked the fact you get two of them for $2.50. Second are the fresh pork spring rolls. Great tasting and packed with pork, veggies and rice noodles. Not the biggest spring rolls I have had but you get two of them for $3.25 compared to some places where you get one. Now the main course, the extra large, yes I said extra large bowl of steak and brisket Pho, for $6.95. So cheap!!! I was giddy when they brought out this monster bowl of pure heaven. This bowl was beyond loaded and the broth was absolute perfection. Hands down the best broth I have had. It's that good. It had more then plenty of pieces of steak and brisket that tasted like it was freshly sliced in the kitchen. Once I added in the siracha, hoisin sauce and the fresh bean sprouts, Thai basil and a spritz of lime, it was like going down to flavor town. Let's just say I was more than satisfied. 3 stars: Service here was a little lack luster or basically non existing when it came to refilling our waters. The waitress never came back after we got our food which was depressing. I really judge a place on how alert they are on refilling drinks especially when they are not that busy. As far as getting our food it was pretty fast and we didn't have to sit and wait long, something I always enjoy. So if you average it out that 4 stars and I think it's quite deserving. First time coming to this pho joint for me and inspite hearing good things about them- but that might have been about 10 years ago; well let me tell you what happened.. My friend and I came in around 5:30pm for dinner clearly within their open hours and the entire waitstaff was sitting eating dinner. OK, so then the waiter just tells us mid bite of his pho just to go sit anywhere we want; so we try to. However much to our surprise at least 10 tables all towards the front of the restaurant were filled with dirty dishes. So we go back to the front and say we'll wait for a clean table so he proceeds to inform us there are some tables back there. Back there meant the one or two tables in the very back of the restaurant where we sat down. So while perusing the menu; I noticed that menu is printed on paper that shows champagne glasses however this is an alcohol free establishment. Hmmm that's strange. So we decide on our orders which only took about 5 minutes to decide and then we wait and we wait for the sole waiter to take our order... But instead of waiting on us and we were the only people in the restaurant this is when he decides to clean up all those dirty dishes from the other tables. By now we are really starving and it's about 6pm. Finally we got our food and it was delicious but the wait service is absolutely worthless and absent. We needed extra napkins and couldn't find any except for the ones that were at behind the counter. At one point my friend had to order a new bowl of broth as we had over-spiced ours.. that took about 20 minutes to receive, so by then our pho was cold. Unfortunately I can only give this review one star because yelp will not allow what they really deserve; a big fat ZERO. read more

Reviews are a mixed bag for Pho Tic Tac... seems like people think they are really great or just the worst. The only thing that looks to be consistent is that the service is lacking (which was accurate for my visit as well). I mean the service was fine, people were nice enough, but it was lacking. I've driven past Pho Tic Tac a million times and after seeing a number of positive reviews I thought we'd give it a try. I really wanted to like this place bc it's not too far from home... but the pho was sadly disappointing. The broth had hardly any flavor and the basil didn't look fresh. I do not agree with most reviews here that says the Pho was great. The pho did not taste much actually, I needed to put a vaste amount of hoisin sauce as well as spicy sauce to get it to taste something. We also got spring rolls at the beginning of the meal and the sauce that came with it was really disgusting. The roll itself was just ok, except the fact that the pork in it was some cold highly processed pork instead of being fresh one. Pho tic tac at the old location gave me the nightmare, and I promised myself then that I would never eat at their place again. Today, that promised was broken and I didn't regret it one bit. I guess that times change, people change. Today I had the most amazing Pho, the broth was steamy hot, the beef is very tender, and they gave you a very generous portion. Hard to believe this place is pulling as many stars as it is!! We walked in for lunch. Pho Tic Tac was empty, except all the tables had dirty bowls on them. The host sat us down in the middle of the room at a table.... Right next to a screaming baby, and a family that seemed to be very odd and extremely disfunctional. Clean off a booth for us? NOPE! Fresh ice water? NOPE.... The ice had been sitting in the cups for at least a 1/2 hour before it was served to us.... it had been mostly melted pieces of ice with room temp water poured in it. How could this place get any weirder you ask? They were playing this piano "muzak" ...you know the elevator variety. I was really looking forward to eating here after hearing spectacular reviews from people but I have to say I was pretty disappointed. I ordered takeout with my folks as a kick-off for our weekend and was really looking forward to some good Vietnamese food after a long rough week. Unfortunately, they got our order wrong (wrong dishes) and when I drove back to exchange them, what I got was overcooked and sub-par compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Great food, especially on a cold Seattle night! Service was slow, we were just to the point of thinking we'd been forgotten when our food finally came out. Worth the wait, though. What I like most about this pho place and what sets it apart from others is the quality of the meat/beef. It's not the typical processed loaf that you find at other places. The portion of meat also seems to be a little more generous, with thicker slices of beef, here than other places. The broth can be a little salty (but fragrant) at times though. After frequenting Le's Pho Tai for the past few months, I don't think I can ever come back to Pho Tic Tac unless I have no other dining options. I started to notice that the ingredients they use are not very fresh. The bean sprouts and thai basil that are normally served with the pho tend to look old and not very fresh. I assume that they store them for a longer time in order to save money, but in my opinion they should have been tossed out awhile ago. Tho pho itself doesn't taste that great, and I usually squirt in a lot of hoisin and sriracha sauce for more flavor. The restaurant itself could also be a bit more cleaner. It gets a little old whenever every time I come in, I have to check to see if the table counters are somewhat clean and not sticky. Gross. There were a few times when they forgot to add in certain ingredients in my pho, and I had to remind them every time. I've eaten here a few times. I really like their grilled chicken. This is an awesome value and really delicious. I think that this particular menu item deserves 5 stars. As far as their pho goes, I have had their beef pho. The broth is okay. They don't give you much compared to others for sides to add like: bean sprouts and basil. They also don't give you a lot of beef and the beef is a little chewy for me compared to other places. A big plus for our family, they offer a vegetable pho. Some of the pho places just have beef broth. My wife likes either chicken or vegetarian. The vegetarian pho really helps my wife follow her diet and we can all satisfy our needs here. The inside of this restaurant is nicer than some of the other pho restaurants. They also offer a more comprehensive menu so if you want other vietnamese food other than noodle soup, you have choices. read more

Love the owner who takes pride in her restaurant. Sadly her old place burned down by some homeless guy who was on a pyro rage against greenwood in general, but luckily she had already established this awesome location. I'd like to also note that the place that was at this location prior had great pho but was a nightmare in staff as I'd go in to see the owner smoking a cigarette and reading a paper in the middle table while barking orders to the workers. Disaster. But not anymore! Now we have a good staff and a place that gets busy for good reason and has filled my Pho cravings time and time again with full and utter satisfaction. Can I also say that this is the only place that provides a useable bowl when you order your soup to go rather than the stupid styrofoam they expect you to eat out of at other establishments, seriously a HUGE plus if you're ever wanting pho to go. Oh, and last thing I wanna boast on is the hot chocolate. Not necessarily on the quality of the chocolate itself but the presentation and overall taste. It comes with the simple addition of whipped cream and peanuts (warning to the allergic) and is quite possibly a snickers in a cup minus the caramel, although I bet it couldn't hurt. You want Pho? I used to frequent this spot prior to the makeover and new ownership, and I cannot help but compare the two and find things that are amiss. First downer, no more hot Jasmine tea that comes in the quintessential metal pot. C'MOON~! What gives?! I did however get a mug of lukewarm tinted tap water that blew whale ass. The fried egg roll tucked into the spring roll was pretty damn tasty and made fresh. The rice wrapper was perfectly soft, and wasn't dried out, so I appreciated that. The pho was alright, nothing spectacular. The rare beef was chewy and ended up in mushy balls I politely left on a plate. The brisket was good thankfully. Bean sprouts/basil were fresh. Here's my gripe with these places that get a jazzy remodel, but don't have quality cuts of meat, no hot tea, no cream puff, no napkins on the table. The condiments need some work. Please put the Hoisin sauce in a squeeze bottle like every other pho establishment has smartly done, not the gooey cap top you'd tolerate in your own fridge. It's gross. Service was fine. But on a side note, the girl manning the cashier was also sorting the basil w/no gloves on. Bless her heart for multitasking, but handled my change and went right back to the basil pile. Hands-down my favorite Pho in Seattle. Fragrant broth, fried shallots and garlic, always good. I sometimes order their vermicelli bowl with lemongrass chicken, and that is a superstar as well. I don't understand all the amazing reviews and why this place is so packed all the time! This is by far the worst Pho I've ever experienced. I don't remember there ever before being a time when I had no interest in bringing home my leftovers, or the last time I didn't even want to finish my meal when I was that hungry. I ordered a vegetarian dish which was edible at best, but my boyfriend got some kind of beef pho soup and the "beef" looked nothing like any beef I've ever seen before. We were both fairly convince that it was actually beef testicles, which we did not willingly order. Granted, if what you go looking for in Pho is squishy meat that doesn't resemble anything you've ever ate before together with a nauseating flavor, then you've found your place. I am a huge Pho guy, whether I need something filling for lunch or im trying to break a bad hangover from the previous night, this place has always been a solid option! 99% of the time I order Pho here, and it is one of the best Pho places I have been to, hands down best in the area (and there's a lot of them on aurora!) (im a big eater and I normally am so stuffed after eating a large (sizes are small, large, extra large) -They have a really good veggie pho, and load it with tons of tasty veggies. I order it nearly every time, and substitute Tofu for steak! Best ever!!! yum!! -It has a parking lot on both sides of the restaurant, so really easy to get a spot, no matter the time of day. -The other meals are really good, Ive have many of appetizers, and the spring rolls are delish! - Easy to pick up orders as well. I love ordering after work grabbing the Pho, and heating it up at home and add even more brocolli to my pho! Cons: -For the most part the service is pretty good, and you can tell they have to hustle around as the place is normally pretty busy. Although, I do work in the restaurant/bar industry, and they really do a poor job checking up on you, or ever returning to refill your water. I like to load my pho with sriracha sauce, and having no water makes it difficult to finish my pho. The food here is always good and I've ordered lots of things, from Pad Thai to noodle soup/bowls, spring and fresh rolls, and skewered prawns. I've never been dissatisfied with any of the food, it's very tasty. The service however is very slow, and it takes a good 10-15 minutes to get your order. While I am not an experienced pho connoisseur, I was let down by this bowl as my second pho experience. The meat seemed far less in quantity than what I had expected based on a previous restaurant, the add-on's less fresh and not as many selections as I had believed to be standard in my novice, but the flavor was still satisfying. One could choose to overlook the ripped seat cushions, lack of smiles and overall dour setting because the price tag is a bit lower than other similar establishments, and I would guess this to be the case as the tables filled quite quickly on a weekday at dinner time. Upon using the restroom at the end of my visit and finding chunks of tiles missing and the main door propped open while patrons utilized the cramped stalls, I decided that no, no I would not overlook anything for a second trip. I've been here twice with my bf and both of us think this pho is better than anywhere in the U District. The meatball pho is especially tasty. The service could be better, and the tea could be hotter. Not in Greenwood any more, but still excellent and affordable Vietnamese food. 1st time there, I had a veggie pho, packed with broccoli, carrots, cabbage, thin slivers of green celery, green onions and cilantro. It comes with tofu (not deep fried), but I had mine with thin slices of chicken meat. There are few places that make vegetarian pho, but this one does not. I ordered large and I was not able to finish mine; the portion was huge. My partner had beef pho. It looked barren to me with no veggies, but there was meat galore, and he finished it all so it must be good. 2nd time, I went for an egg roll wrapped in a fresh roll. It felt so American in origin, and it was tasty. Their peanuts sauce is more gelatinous than I like it, but it was adequate. And I had a veggie vermicelli dish. Great amount of sauted vegetables and all were cooked al dente. Really low in fat, and really high in taste. Service was prompt and hip. The new digs are decorated above average for a Vietnamese place. I especially love the red wall, it adds tons of warmth to the dreary, rainy Seattle evening. They prefer cash and minimum on card is $10. And it is work to spend $10 here for a meal! Yeah! read more

This place is right on the city limits (145th) between Seattle and Shoreline. I heard alot about it so checked it out with big expectations. From the outside, this place looks like a red bunker with little windows and small side doors, so it is hard to tell if it is busy or not. But it was. On a Tuesday. It seems like this place does quite a bit of take out orders too. It was hopping! Parking was a bit of a challenge since it is in two lots on two sides of the building. One of them is up against the Card Room next door, so there were alot of cars. The spring rolls were fab and the peanut sauce accompanying was delicious. +1 Went with the standard pho and the beef was delicious +1. I though the meatballs were dry -1. The noodles had a great texture too being square cut +1. They could hold back a little on the MSG in the soup though. Tasty but had to drink a gallon of water that night to rehydrate -1. While I have certainly had better, I haven't found any other pho in the immediate area to beat it. read more

I've been here a few times and had the tofu pad thai, which was good and would have gotten 4 stars if the service hadn't been so incredibly bad both times. The gentleman who seated us and took our order acted as it he was doing us a great favor and just wanted to be anywhere but there. We weren't checked on during the meal and as we paid our bill at the counter, the woman there asked how everything was. My companion said "not very good" and she didn't inquire as to what the problem was. Don't ask if you don't want to get the answer.
