Pho Time is a locally owned Vietnamese fusion restaurant that has been around the neighborhood for almost two decades now. It's located in an internal corner suite of the PB Plaza with updated external signage since the last time I visited. Parking in the shared lot can be difficult when the neighboring businesses are operating during their normal hours. The dining area had enough seating for close to 100 customers, but it was less than half occupied when I came for dinner. I sat at a booth not far from the entrance. The bench seating was a bit awkward because the seat cushion kept raising up if I leaned forward.

After perusing the menu booklet, I decided on items that were different than my typical choices of spring rolls, pho, or bun. I started with the Grilled Sugar Cane Shrimp as an appetizer. This was minced shrimp meat cooked on a sugar...

cane skewer, of which there were a pair on the dish. A sweet chili dipping sauce and some lettuce leaves came with the order. The item was like a shrimp meatball except shaped as an oval. The flavor was good and enhanced by the sauce. I also picked the Garlic Noodles with Shaken Beef. The noodles came on a separate plate while the grilled filet mignon cubes were served on a hot cast iron skillet. Bell peppers and white onions accompanied the meat on the cow-shaped skillet. The cubes were slightly overcooked, but the more concerning aspect was the oil that pooled up on one end of the cast iron. The noodles were cooked without any sauce, just garlic seasoning applied. I don't know if there was some contamination, but I detected an acrid odor versus a pungent garlic flavor. The food was prepared fairly quickly by the kitchen, and both items arrived simultaneously. I liked the appetizer much better than the entree. The worker who served me was pleasant and helpful. I gave a 3.5 star rating for my latest dining experience at Pho Time.

My first experience at Pho Time tonight and it definitely won't be my last!!! The moment we walked into the door, we were greeted by the staff with the warmest smiles. Our waiter, Tuyet (I hope I am spelling it right) was such a delight. He was so friendly and helpful- providing us with great recommendations. He deserves a huge shoutout!! This restaurant is one of the most delicious pho in San Diego. Everything they make is homemade - their broths are so healthy and perfectly flavored. I am also so happy to see a full vegetarian menu.

I ordered the vegetarian spring rolls and pho - both delicious. The vegetarian pho comes with plenty of vegetables and tofu - my favorite! The spring rolls also come with a delicious, homemade peanut sauce. Everything tasted so well...

I got an order of egg rolls and house pho. Everything was delicious. Service was ok. I had to ask for more water and waited for my bill for a while. I'd come back though.

Tried the egg rolls and the shaken beef with garlic noodles too. Garlic noodles were okay. Seemed more like basic spaghetti to me with lots of seared garlic but beef was nicely presented in a sizzling platter. Presentation is key...

I order the chicken pho and I asked all the things to be on the side. They gave me so much and I loved it! The soup was so delicious and yummy! I will be ordering again.

I came here for the first time around 8pm and was seated right away. I got an order of egg rolls and house pho. Everything was delicious. Service was ok. I had to ask for more water and waited for my bill for a while. I'd come back though.

Firstly, there is a designated parking lot which makes dining here so convenient. Service was attentive and friendly! I tried the Tim's House pho and the filet mignon shaking beef hot plate with garlic noodles. The pho was jam packed with meat which I appreciated! The broth was also very flavorful and dank, a touch on the sweeter side for me. Really enjoyed the pho that felt very nourishing. The filet mignon shaking beef came hot and sizzling, where the smell of garlic was irresistible!! The beef was perfectly cooked where it was tender and not dry. It was super flavorful and loved the onions and the bell peppers which were the perfect complement. I loved that the garlic noodles were loaded with garlic as it should be!!! I would definitely come back for both dishes but some other authentic Vietnamese dishes I'm eager to try since their flavors were on point for both my dishes!

Food! 10! Service! 10! Ambience! 10! We're both looking for something on a nice Saturday afternoon while we were in San Diego and came across this location. It was close by our hotel Paradise point so we decided to stop in and we were both very happy. Right when we walked in, the restaurant was very clean with lots of seatings and very open and airy. Decor was nicely done with lots of paintings and the BF even said there was some paintings in the men's restroom. We both love art, so this was a plus for us to dine and was able to admire all the beautiful pieces. We ordered pho and the fried rice with ribeye, omg the broth was perfect and so was the fried rice, ribeye was cooked medium rare and tasted oh so delicious. We also ordered the lychee and coconut coffee, both were amazing! Restaurant is in a large plaza so plenty of parking spaces. When we come back to SD, we definitely will be back. Did I mention service was 100% great here.

I've finally ventured out of southeast San Diego for some pho, and although I thought nothing would compare, this spot killed it! I always have to test the broth first, and they passed with flying colors. They incorporate wagyu into a few of their dishes and it's worth it. It's melt-in-your-mouth good! Everything tastes super fresh. And huge shoutout to their drinks!! I would come back just for their drinks. The coconut matcha was my favorite, and I'm not even a matcha person like that. Their fruit teas are great, refreshing options. I like that you can actually taste the tea over the fruit flavors. Highly recommend!

My friend wanted to try the famous sizzling filet mignon steak plate, but I was glad to see plenty of other great options here too. Here's my experience: AMBIANCE: Parking: Plaza parking--no real issues, even at lunchtime. Seating: Comfortable inside seating, good for pairs, mid-sized groups, or even larger gatherings. Vibes: Welcome to the inner parts of Pacific Beach. You won't see the ocean from here, but you're still in the neighborhood. The spot itself is inviting, with art and décor highlighting Hanoi culture. Lite rock played in the background, which kept the lunch flow easy and relaxed. Overall, it feels like a great place for a casual food adventure--solo or with friends. FOOD/DRINKS: Coconut Matcha (Recommend) Beautifully presented. Earthy matcha paired with tropical coconut sweetness makes for a smooth, refreshing drink--perfect on a hot day. Rice Vermicelli - Grilled Pork (Recommend) A fulfilling bowl that hits the essential Vietnamese flavor notes. The pork was marinated in lemongrass, garlic, fish sauce, and sugar--sweet, savory, and umami all at once. Fresh herbs (mint, basil, cilantro) and cucumber added brightness and kept it light. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Friendly staff who kept things moving smoothly--our orders came out quickly and with a smile. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. Awesome! Good food, fair prices, and a pleasant experience. I was actually pretty impressed at how good the food was. Being Vietnamese I'm pretty selective on the quality of Vietnamese dishes. This spot had a good selection of items to choose from. Service and staff were amazing! They truly care about the quality of food and service. I can definitely tell by the joy on their faces. Ambiance is so chill and nice. Interior is beautiful and bright with the high ceilings. Located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. I ordered the woven vermicelli with shrimp sugarcane. My family ordered the bun cha Ha Noi and loved it. It was overall a solid and satisfying meal. Presentation is wonderful. I would totally come back here and recommend others.

This Vietnamese fusion spot has been in Pacific Beach for decades, tucked into a corner of the mall. We came in on a Sunday night and the place was almost full around 7 PM. Nice ambience with tasteful decor and high ceilings that made the space feel open instead of cramped. We ordered the hot stone bowl pho, shaking beef, crispy noodles, chicken wings, KBBQ fried rice and bun cha Hanoi. Everything was well-seasoned and tasted just right and nicely presented. Prices were totally reasonable, and there's plenty of parking (a miracle in PB). But the real standout was the service. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming right from the moment we stepped in the doors.

This is definitely an SD hidden gem Fresh pho noodles, need I say more? We were greeted with great customer service. This is a family run restaurant and everyone was so kind and friendly As someone who eats most of their Vietnamese food at home, I was thoroughly impressed. The fresh pho noodles and rib eye were great! The rib eye was super tender and the fresh pho noodles were cooked well. Broth was aromatic, but not overpowering and not too salty or not too sweet The Bun Cha Ha Noi was so delicious. The pork belly was flavored so well and the fish sauce was spectacular. Jasmine is one of the best co-owner that serves the best food in pacific Beach, LA Jolla, San Diego CA. I always get the shrimp and chicken or pork dish and egg rolls. I really love all of their fried rices as well. I like the chicken pho. And my friend always gets the filet pho. Lots of indoor seating. I get food for takeout often as well. Same owners for the last 10 years I have been going here. Great service. Great food! We recently were in San Diego and were looking for a spot for dinner near the La Jolla area. We were open on types of food options, but me and my partner love Vietnamese food, particularly pho... and Pho Time came up higher on our list of places on Yelp. As we were approaching the area of the restaurant, I noticed a number of other Vietnamese restaurants nearby, so I felt like we were in the right area to get some good quality pho! :) When we arrived, the shopping center was fairly big, and Pho Time is located in the left corner of the shopping center (if you're looking straight ahead at it), with plenty of free parking in front of the restaurant. When we entered, a nice man greeted us and told us that we could sit anywhere we wanted. He restaurant has large vaulted ceilings, and mostly booths I'm the restaurant. The vibe was very relaxed and we loved it! The server came by a few minutes later and took our order. We started with a bottle of white wine for $32.55, and we were surprised to see it was their own private label, and it was actually pretty good! For appetizers, we both ordered the spring rolls ($5.75 for two rolls). If you've never had these before, the roll wrapping is cold, while the meat inside the roll is warm. But the spring rolls are very tasty, and good quality, and I highly recommend! For entrees, we both ordered the Filet Mignon Pho ($13.25 each). Portions were large and you can also specify what temperature you like to have the meat prepared as well. All of the staff at the restaurant were so friendly and welcoming. We loved the food and thought it was a great value as well! read more

This was my first time having Pho, and I really enjoyed it I got a combo Pho with chicken and shrimp, and a side egg roll. Sadly about halfway through i paid for it, I realized I didn't get my egg roll but the Pho was really delicious, I'll be coming back again for the Pho but I just won't order the egg roll since I can't count on it. One other thing I wasn't the biggest fan of, is that all of the eating IG utensils are on the table (a bunch of reusable,clean, chop sticks, as a well as about 16 or so soup spoons face down) That doesn't seem the most sanitary to me personally. If those aren't big things for you, then I think you'd really enjoy it. Overall 3/5 Food 7/10 , had to dock 2 points for missing egg roll Atmosphere 7/10 , nothing really stood out to me as special Friendliness 4/10 , when I informed them I was missing an egg roll they just kind of said sorry and that was about it. read more

My husband and i absolutely LOVE this place! The food is amazing, service is excellent, and most of all I love how great the ambiance is! We have a one year old and we love how the all waiters are so friendly with him. They have new drinks and food, however , I only tried two of the 6 new drinks; the coconut matcha & the peach tea ( can't remember the exact name). I was happy to try this new pho place! I love pho and it was definitely delicious here. I also enjoyed the egg rolls! I didn't get a chance to dine in it but the restaurant appeared clean and comfortable. My to go order was ready in minutes and was nice and hot and fresh. I will return when I am in the area again. There are located next to several other shops with a big parking lot. read more

My daughter called in an order for pickup and requested a tofu pho. She paid over $15 with tip for her pho to come out with only 2 pieces. She was very disappointed and I have to say, it was a sad looking meal. We're used to getting more tofu at every other spot we've been to in SD area. If it always comes out like that it's definitely not worth the price. Disappointed to say no one helped at the front either when she walked in. If I would have known that this restaurant was in PB, then I would not have ordered delivery from there... Unfortunately, the watered down flavorless taste just to satisfy the drunk douchebags in the area was not sufficient to satisfy a food connoisseur. The Chicken Bahn Mi was bland, lacking enough daikon, and the chicken was not seasoned sufficiently. The texture and consistency of the chicken would have benefitted from grilling it for a little bit longer as well. The chicken was pink & rubbery, rather than seasoned & grilled. However, the extra spread on the sandwich made up a little bit for the overall lack of flavor. Sadly, the last key component of toasting the French bread was also missing... The beef broth was also bland and lacking flavor. Insufficient oil & spices leads to this watered down version of Pho broth. It may satisfy those who are hung over on a Wednesday morning after a night of revelry & debauchery on Garnet during the week, but it's not for Pho lovers. It would have been nice to have a good hearty broth to dip the Bahn Mi, in order to add some flavor to the dish. Overall, you get what you pay for in PB... Next time, I will be ordering from Convoy Street! read more

I was pretty disappointed when I got the wings. It had no flavor and also no meat. What was pretty flavorful was the vegetables. I'm giving three stars because I got the vermicelli dry noodles and the meat was flavorful and anything with nuoc mam is delicious. My friend also the pho and I had to give it a taste and the broth was light and refreshing. I would highly recommend the pho here read more

Beware: food ok but new owner or new manager tricky tricky & CHEAP. Despite being a regular, they shorted me in my to-go dinner 2 days ago, not giving me an item I ordered BUT charging me for it, a form of unintentional "stealing." I got home & notice my only protein missing & called & notified them. I was NOT gonna drive back but expected a GENEROUS refund or mega store "credit" on my next visit....but NO. I went by 2 days later & got the cash paid OVERCHARGE, but same new women at register REFUSED to additional store credit or cash refund for my not having item or having dinner with it as ordered & wanted & needed or having to drive back later for my refund. Who cares about the customer ??? Clearly a BAD biz decision, and lose a regular customer ? Cheap & damaging biz owners are not clever. Be aware. Beware. read more

I eat here at LEAST 2 times a week for the last year! I have gone to every other pho restaurant suggested by asian frinds, and this is the best...they agree! Apps i go for the fried egg roles...super good. The calamari is really big and meaty (unlike most places that is 60% breading) and it has an awesome texture. Its not the greatest i have had...but the sauce they serve with it is SUPER good...ask for extra if/when you order this, it makes the app well worth it! I get a #16 Large Pho with round steak. I sometimes also get shrimp instead of steak, also very good. I add sriracha sauce...just a little...1 full circle around the bowl...then mix well...PERFECT if you have a cold!!! Their broth is perfect temperature, flavor, and saltyness btw. I also get the vermicelli rice noodle bowl with the combo of meats on top...SUPER good...just found this one recently! I was told by a friend this place was good so I went. Nothing like an experience you get when you go to Clairemont and get Pho there. The place is nice and clean and big so it is great for any size parties. The night I went it wasn't busy at all and we were greeted fast. But when the server took our order, everything came out wrong. They apologized and was willing to re make everything but when you only have 5 people in the place you kinda should get the order correct and we didn't want to wait another 20 minutes for the food so we just ate the messed up order. The coconut matcha was creamy, lightly sweet, and had just the right hint of matcha -- super refreshing and unique! And the pho? I stumbled upon Pho Time and was immediately impressed by the gorgeous decoration--it's cozy, elegant, and gives off an authentic Vietnamese vibe that makes you feel right at home. The portion of pho is generous and flavorful, perfect for a hearty meal. I highly recommend trying the Bún Chả Hà Nội--it's incredibly tasty and brought back memories of my time in Vietnam. The egg coffee is also a must-try! It's rich, creamy, and has that same authentic taste you'd find at a café in Hanoi. This place is a hidden gem for anyone craving true Vietnamese flavors! Pho Time has quickly become my favorite place to get take out from. It's two blocks from my house and I always find myself craving it. I get the number 17 every time which has lean brisket and round eye steak. The small size is huge and makes for a great and satisfying meal. They are very quick and if you forget to call and order ahead of time they will have your food ready within minutes. I've also tried the spring rolls from here which come with a great peanut sauce. That one place in OB (I won't mention the name out of respect for this establishment) will always have the beat pho in SD in my opinion, however this is the best you will get in the PB area by far. You know a place is going to be good when you look at their menu online to call in an order and you can't read the names of any of the dishes. I usually just tell them what I want in my soup and they make it custom for me. Some flank, ribeye, brisket and tripe and I am in pho heaven. Super affordable to boot!! read more

While it's unusual to see an empty restaurant that serves good food, I stumbled across a gem on Tuesday. As there was only one other table, I was hesitant, but my nose knows good food when it smells it. I was greeted warmly, all questions were answered, and enjoyed a generous portion of their delicious Pho. As I was paying my bill, the owner came by to make sure my meal was satisfactory. I voiced how delicious it was and assured him I would be coming back soon. The best Pho in the area in my opinion. read more

Good chicken pho but not authentic broth and all chicken breast used...more like glorified chicken soup. I always add veggies! Add Sriracha and clear those sinuses out if you're getting a cold! I've had petty much everything on this menu...it's all good! -1 star because they have really f'd up orders in the past...while you wait for yours to be fixed, everyone you're with eats...your food gets there after everyone's done and they don't even offer a discount. ..this has happened multiple times. read more

If you don't have good broth, you might as well change the name of your noodle shop to "We're Phocked." Fortunately theirs is great! Ala Mr. Jackson, youtube.com/watch?v=AXVA... the Pho Bo 'knows' round steak and brisket in a hearty beef broth. The traditional Vietnamese soup is served with sliced onion, scallion, cilantro and is super delicious. Along with pretty generous chunks of meat and perfectly cooked noodles they've also got some fresh spring rolls and other apps that I'd come back for. read more

I had to post this review. I just had the #26 and it was literally the best Vietnamese dish I have ever eaten in my 46 years of existence. I have eaten Vietnamese food all throughout the United States, and have even traveled through Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, and this was hands-down. The best meal I have ever eaten. I may eat this dish every day for the next month now. It was fantastic. The staff is always very nice and the restaurant is always very clean. I highly recommend! read more

I want to start by saying the service here is outstanding 10/10. The staff are incredibly friendly and kind, going above and beyond to ensure their customers feel valued and enjoy their meals. You can truly tell they care. The pho is delicious, and the prices are reasonable for the size. I've only been here twice so far, but I'll definitely be back. Just don't go there it sucks through and through. I've been there 3-4 times and evertime its a full on let down. I don't know if there is a special handshake or something but every time I've been they've sunk lower and lower the staff is for lack of better words lame. The pho is bland and heavy scraping off grease on the surface of my bowl was the last straw. If I could give this place an negative star rating I would, this is the place where pho goes to die. read more

After a long night of drinking, best cure is to stop by Pho Time and to grab a number 2. Everybody knows the key to great Pho is their broth and they have perfected it. After a couple sips of broth with added Sriracha and heavy dosage of chilli oil, I could feel the alcohol leaving my pores. The decor is nice, service is extremely quick and there refilled my water plenty of times. Would definitely recommend if you are in the PB area. read more

This place was nothing fancy but the service was good and they were very patient when I took awhile to look over the menu. They had a decent selections of meals to choose from. I liked the butterfly chicken but I thought the Pho Thai needed some more spices. The iced coffee was good but I wish it came in a bigger size. The prices were decent and I would come back here again when I want a tasty meal that doesn't cost too much. read more
