Had to try this place after hearing about the concept of a "stone bowl pho"! Came here recently for Saturday lunch--restaurant is fairly small but there were available tables, so no wait. STONE BOWL SIGNATURE PHO (Phở Thố Đá)--that's what they are known for right, so had to try! The broth is served in a stone bowl and is still bubbling hot when it reaches you--a large plate of rare beef steak (tái) with noodles and veggies are served along with the bowl. The best part is that you can add everything at your own pace--the noodles don't get soggy and the meat doesn't overcook either, like in regular pho bowls, but beware the broth is piping hot for a while! The broth was flavorful but not enough, we still had to add in hoisin sauce and sriracha. Overall, the Stone Bowl Signature Bowl was good but the portion was unusually large for just one person and it's a bit expensive--$22.95. I wasn't able to finish all of it--they should offer a smaller portion so food doesn't get wasted, and charge less. They have some other food items on the menu as well--tried the Summer Roll (gỏi cuốn), it was okay! Visited Pho Towda with my family. This is in the spot where Pomodora Pizza used to be. The staff was friendly and the restaurant had lots of nice plants around. We got the stone pot pho, chicken pho, and crispy egg rolls. Everything was very good. The stone pot broth came out boiling and stayed super hot throughout the meal. Great for those who love HOT soups! The beef was tender and was seared with seasoning. The metal soup spoon made it pretty hard to eat at first.. lol. The beef broth was good but not as flavorful as others and I had to add a lot of sriracha and hoisin. The special noodles were ok but I actually prefer the normal thinner ones. The beef was nice. The crispy rolls were ok but didn't come with lettuce and basil like some other restaurants. The grilled pork Banh mi lacked pate and the bread was too doughy and hard to bite but the meat was delicious. Don't pass on this one people. I went specifically for their Steak & Eggs = Bo Ne and Banh Mi = Vietnamese Sandwich. Incredible! The owner makes his own bread in house. It is so light and crisp yet soft inside. He is only 1 of 2 restaurants that I know of in the area that serves Bo Ne/Steak & Eggs in 4 different versions. Sausage, Lemongrass Beef, Steak or Pork Belly. Everything is so fresh. You should also try their signature rolls that are made with chicken or pork. I had the chicken, which was just delicious! I have been here several time since they opened. This is my go to place now for Pho. I love their Pho Towda. Yes, it is expensive for Pho but I find it's the best Pho. I never have to put hoisin or anything else in it since the broth is perfect to me. The service is always great for me. Lunch time is can be very crowded so make sure you have time to eat here. The place is cozy and I love how clean this place is. I also love their Ice coffee with egg. Not too many places I know have this. Pho Towda had a few hiccups in the beginning when they opened but it seemed like they figured out the issues. Well maybe since there wasn't too many people during lunch on a Thursday afternoon. My pho was a surprise, there aren't many places far from Eden that make good pho broth but theirs was great. It was just that good homey Vietnamese comfort food. The banh mi was 3 out of 5. The bread made up for the skimp portion of the meat which was the pork. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and tasted much better than Ba Le or Banh Mi DC. The dumplings were massive and filled with pork. It had a great flavor and consistency, I'd get it again! Lastly, I think the best part was my ube coconut coffee. I'm a huge fan of viet coffee and adding on that ube made it 10x better. Will be trying the pandan Coffee when I come back! Overall, I really enjoyed Pho Towda. I'm always interested in new concepts or things that should be a staple here and this place is no exception. When I heard there was a stone pot pho place near my work I was so delighted to check it out! Located right next to the Regal Theater, it's tucked away between Baja Fresh and a few other stores down the street. The minute I walked inside I caught a whiff of the pho they were cooking. It smelled really good and I couldn't be more delighted to try out the Pho here. I started my food adventure with their Crispy Egg Rolls. They came out pretty fast and they were really hot so I had to wait a bit before eating. I think these were really delicious, considering that it consisted of pork, rice noodles, mushrooms. They were pretty big compared to other places that serve you the same thing. Dip it with their fish sauce that comes with it! I got their Stone Pot Pho which was an absolute delight. Out comes first is the plate that contains slices of NY Strip Steak slices, wide rice noodles, onions, coriander, green onions, sliced jalapeno peppers, bean sprouts, thai basil, and a slice of lime to add to your broth. I was impressed with the presentation and it really does make me feel like I'm eating something really great. When the Stone Pot Pho came out it was bubbling, still boiling as we slowly add our ingredients from the plate to the bowl. Upon swishing around the meat for a few seconds, it cooked instantly so I'd advise that if you do get this bowl, dip it for a few seconds and it should be ready to eat. The slices of steak were extremely tender so I didn't have any problem eating it. I think the noodles were really good and it's not often that you see wider rice noodles at a Vietnamese Restaurant but it was delicious. The broth was really good and didn't feel like I needed to add Hoisin or Sriracha sauce to enhance the soup; if the soup is good, I generally drink the whole broth to show my appreciation for it. Another thing to note here is that you can pay at the table by scanning the QR code, but I don't think there is a way to split the check unless you pay up front at the counter. I thought this was pretty interesting and saves you a lot of time too. A must try for pho enthusiasts alike! I think this is a place worth trying if not once, but twice, or even more! read more

I'm not Vietnamese but I'm quite picky when it comes to which place I get my Pho. The best one I've ever come across is Pho 75 in Rosslyn and I usually drive an hour to go there some times. I'm so glad I found Pho Towda nearby because I don't have to drive that far now. The taste of the broth is very similar. The meat is super fresh. The staff works quick and efficient. As soon as I entered the restaurant and saw all the seat full of Asians, I knew it was going to be good and IT WAS. The decor is also pretty fresh and modern unlike traditional Pho restaurants which could be a little run down. I also like their new inventions like the crispy spring roll inside the summer roll. It was quite good. The bah mi with purple bread I took home was also amazing! This place is doing Pho and Bah Mi right! I'd be coming back for more Pho and Bah Mi to go! read more

Stone pot pho was something I never knew I'd try! It was a very interesting first time to try however eating it was a struggle if you're not good with hot foods. The noodles can start to expand quickly since the stone pot keeps its boiling basically. The soup spoon was also metal so it was pretty easy to burn your tongue... However the meat that came with was so yummy! I'd love to eat it as a steak more but it was very flavorful with the pho broth. The pho broth was good but they added in some extra "fat" (fatty broth?) which made the broth a bit too oily for me in the end. (In one photo I posted.) Luckily we can request for less fat or none from what the waiter told me. Service was nice and the ambiance inside was beautiful. I love that it's decorated with multiple beautiful house plants. I was admiring every single one lol. The fruit cocktail dessert seemed homemade. It was alright expect for the jackfruit for me. It sat too long in the dessert cups so it didn't taste good. I've been to this restaurant many times. This morning I came with my friend, and the restaurant was completely empty--no customers at all. I asked the waitress if we could sit in a booth, but she was very rude and said, "Today is Sunday, you can't sit there. You have to sit at a table for two." I told her, "There's no one here, not even one customer." She replied, "It will be busy later." I said, "We're not going to sit here all day." She kept arguing with me, and then a guy came over and he was just as rude. It seems like they don't know how to be nice and don't know how to smile at customers. Sorry, but you just lost our business. As a business owner myself, I don't think this restaurant is worth paying for because the service is terrible. Cute cafe with nice plant decor. The menu is short and sweet but has great options. I've done takeout before but most recently sat down and had the charcoal bahn mi with grilled chicken. Bahn kot as well as a regular iced egg coffee and a pandan one. Everything was tasty and came out fast. Only weird thing was we were splitting dishes between 2 and had to use napkins as plates since both dishes were saucy. I finished every bit. I totally get business tactics but when half your menu missing that should be something your staff informs your customers as they are seated. When we first looked at the menu only a few items were crossed out. The menu should've list that some items are limited per day. So what did we order... TD rolls, Crispy Egg rolls, 3 bowls of Pho Tai Gung (Ginger Rare steak), Bun Bo Hue, and Grilled Pork Banh mi. items we wanted but were not available the stone bowls, and Pho Dac Biet..no ny strip steak, flank steak, brisket , or tendons, no other cuts of meat other then rare steak the tai. No charcoal bread. My family was not only hangry but frustrated. Even the beansprouts and basil were sparse. Mother ordered Bun bo hue. Highly disappointed in flavor and was given no basil she had to ask for some cause all she got was a plate of cabbage that's it. I snuck a sip of her soup. the whole top layer was chili oil. so you had to dig under that layer to get to the soup. Mom thought it was odd that satay sauce or chili oil didn't come on the side regardless if it is a spicy soup. Crispy eggrolls were fine decently stuffed. The TD rolls basically the eggroll in eggroll paper with an extra protein and lettuce. Makes sense cause if you like to wrap your egg rolls in lettuce this is more handheld. Banh Mi was soft with a slight crisp exterior pork was the same as we ordered in the TD roll cause they didn't have NY Strip steak. Price point for $10 could've had more wow factor. the Pho.. brother stopped eating his once he realized his noodles were shorter then usual. He was not a fan of the texture of the pho noodles. We all agreed it was just lacking in pho flavor . The steak was fine tender but again too done for me. Put it this way I could've made the same soup at home for cheaper. Before I get the haters that want to say why didn't you make it yourself. My spouse brought some Pho home along with some Spring Rolls for a take out dinner. It was packed great for take out and tasted very fresh. The spring rolls were a great size and the ratio of filling to wrapper was on point. The Pho was delicious. My steak was sliced super thin which is how I like it I'm my soup. This pho place just opened up in the Fairfax Towne center and since I've driven by it a few times; I've been curious to check it out. Decor: space is big and open. It was nicely decorated and clean. Customer service: The waiter was attentive at first but half way thru the meal; I had a hard time flagging down someone for help. Food: I had the signature pho which comes in a stone bowl. All the ingredients come on a separate plate and you add everything in yourself. Making it a fun way to adjust how well you cook the beef. The broth was very mildly seasoned and sweet. I couldn't taste much of the traditional spices of pho like star anise, etc... The noodles were nicely al dente and beef was good quality although it was a small portion. Drinks: the star of my meal was the salted egg iced coffee! The whipped egg that topped the drink was so delicious. I couldn't get enough of it. The Vietnamese coffee on the bottom was delicious as well. When you mix it all together.... HEAVEN! In conclusion: I enjoyed this meal and look forward to trying their other dishes. So glad I got the chance to check out Pho Towda during their soft opening today. The service here is so friendly and welcoming. Our server was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The manager even came by to see how everything was and asked if we had any feedback regarding our visit--which is awesome to see that they care about their guest feedback. The atmosphere is bright, modern, clean, and love the open space where tables aren't overly close to each other. My friend and I ordered their Vietnamese Ice Coffee and the Ube Coconut Egg Coffee. Vietnamese Ice Coffee was perfect, the familiar strong Vietnamese coffee but nice and creamy with the condensed milk. I am in love with their Ube Coconut Egg Coffee. Love the twist of ube in the traditional Vietnamese Egg Coffee, the flavor was bold, creamy, and rich. The egg custard on top was so velvety and smooth. For appetizer we started off with the Savory Crispy Eggrolls which were perfectly deep fried to perfection. The filling was all the right amount of pork, mushrooms, vermicelli. For entree my friend and I ordered the Pho Combination bowl with fresh hand cut noodles and Bun Bo Hue. The pho combination and bun Bo hue was amazing! Both of the broth was rich and flavorful. The hand cut noodles was such a nice substitution. I love the thicker and fresh noodles. I absolutely love the quality of meat they put in their noodle soups, so rich and tender. You can tell they put a lot of care and time into prepping and providing better quality meats than all the places I've been to in the DMV area. Food: pho tho da is 20/10, the broth is so flavorful, sweet from the beef bone, the noodle is chewy, they use large pho noodle, and the meat that comes with the pho tho da is TO DIE FOR. Perfectly seasoned, a bit smoked/grilled?, cooked to the temp we like in the hot stone bowl. It is just so good. Trust me and order the pho tho da. Banh mi was ok, they make the banh mi fresh in house but I think by the time I get to eat it, the bread is a little stale. The egg coffee is sooooo good, not eggy at all. It's a must have for me when I come here. A new Pho restaurant in the Fairfax area! I've been anxiously waiting to try this place because this restaurant was under construction for quite a while. This is located across from Regal Cinemas in Fairfax Towne Center! The name "Pho Towda" is originating from their special dish "Tho Da" which means Stone Bowl. They have a cool open kitchen concept, and have a great plant decor. However, I did not get their stone bowl pho because there were a lot of other traditional dishes I wanted to try. I actually ordered the ginger pho and my girlfriend got the Bun Bo Hue but because it was really spicy for her, we ended up switching. The Bun Bo Hue really kicks you in the mouth in the first bite! It's just a bit oily for us. Reason for the 4 stars is because of their price point. It's kind of pricey for the amount of food you get. The ginger pho was not too bad - it was a bit more noodles and meat then the BBH. But there are other restaurants that are a bit cheaper but gives you more bang for the buck. Also, our food took a bit long but the manager/owner came out and kept apologizing. So that was pretty nice. Apparently they had 8 stone bowl orders come in. 3/5. Came here for Pho Towda's soft opening. Had some high expectations due to the popularity being shared around the community, bust was sadly disappointed. Understandable that this was their soft opening, but some things should've been better. The Food: Since the soft opening offered a 25% deal, a couple of friends and I had to get a few more than we would at a Pho restaurant. We started with the Pork TD Signature Roll, Crispy Eggrolls, Pork Dumplings and Shrimp & Chive Dumplings. The TD Signature Rolls were delicious and I'd highly recommend giving it a try. The eggrolls were a bit weird since one was significantly bigger than the other. Taste was average. The Pork Dumplings and juicy and had a nice filling. The Shrimp & Chive Dumplings were not good at all. No shrimp in the filling and just mushy chives. Now for the main entree, the Pho. I got the "Pho Ca Nhan" with Rare steak, Brisket and Flank steak. The broth was good, but a little on the bland side. And the meat quality was average, except for the flank steak, that was quite chewy. And, their bowl size options is limited to only one size, which looks like a regular size at any other pho restaurant. For $18, I'd say it isn't worth it. The Service: Service was quite awful unfortunately. Granted, I came during a soft opening, so they are getting their bearings together, but there was plenty of staff for service. Service was incredibly slow, even with limited food options due to some being sold out. Somehow, one Pho bowl came out before the appetizers and the other two bowls we ordered. Seemed that more people were waiting for their orders, than eating food. The Atmosphere: The restaurant was decorated very nicely! Very modern and minimal aesthetic. Very tastefully done. There isn't that much seating, and some placements of tables were awkward in my opinion. But, overall a very clean and nice looking restaurant. Overall, a 3/5. I'd like to give this place another chance when they officially have their grand opening, but from my experience, it may be a while before I return. Tried out Pho Towda for the first time on Friday 6/21/24. It was an Italian restaurant before this place in this location. They must have opened in the past year. It was a very nice treat after a long work week. Tried their signature spring roll with pork. It was a packed spring roll with an egg roll inside with pork and other veggies. The eggroll inside was very crispy and complimented the texture of the soft rice paper and wrap. For the entree, I got the stone pot pho. It was $22 before tax but well worth the cost as the meat was very tender. The meat tasted like pastrami in a way. The noodles were thicker than regular pho noodles. The service was excellent throughout the whole meal. They have many plants inside and a lot of natural light. I liked that the inside was bright compared to many places that keep it dark. Also got the Vietnamese fruit cocktail. It was unique but refreshing. Overall, everything here was a new experience and a positive one at that. The total came out $74.78. read more

Came here for dinner with a couple of friends and was not the best experience. When looking through the menu, I asked if there was beef soup that had no pork because I do not eat pork. The server was very polite and pointed out which one had only beef. When I got the soup I saw a piece of meat that did not looked like beef so I asked the same server and she said it was pork sausage. I mentioned to her that I had ordered a beef soup with no pork because I can't eat pork. That is when either the manager or owner came and said he would give me another soup. They did give me a new soup but I was left unsure whether they just removed the sausages or if they actually gave me a new fresh soup. I do not expect for the staff to accommodate to every customer's needs but it would've been nice if the server was more helpful and aware of my request. I did not end up eating the soup as I did not feel comfortable eating it. I had to try the stone bowl signature pho, it's something i've been looking forward to for a very long time (since i moved back to VA). On my arrival, very friendly service. Pretty busy on the weekend. Price is decent. The reason i give a four star because i was excited to see my stone bowl soup but it wasn't as "boiling" as i thought it would be; though my friends bowl was having the same thing and had a rolling boil.... I was disappointed but didn't want to make a huge fuss about it. They proceeded to explain how to eat the pho. I hope next time i come visit it with the broth boiling because $22 for a bowl is soup is def a high end price for Pho. read more

The place still looks new. It's where the old pomodoro used to be. There's lots indoor plants all over, I loved that! We got the pho, the pork spring roll, ice coffee, banh mi grilled chicken and che ba mau desert. I was happy with each dish and would come back for any of those again. While I was waiting I did notice the waiters deliver wrong food to different tables 3 times. The customers said not theirs and the waiter quickly found the right table each time. But I think this highlights a new place where they need time to hit their stride. Workers were friendly and I got my order in a normal amount of time. This is probably the most flavorful restaurant pho I've ever had. It was so good. I did not have to add siracha or hoisin though it is offered. It is also vietnamese dad approved. We also had the egg coffee which was so good. And the flan (which I would skip on because it was more jello like than flan like). My mom had the bun bo hue and she does not recommend it. I'm just going to fully recommend any dish with the bánh mì because it's so crispy and filling is fluffy.

The pho bowls are very small and it's not the best tasting either. I ordered a jasmine tea and it came in a jar with ice in it. When I wanted it hot. Weird but that's fine. I receive my pho and just wanted a double order of tendon and rare steak. I only get steak. I ask the waiter and showed him that there was no tendon in the bowl. He said that it evaporates lmao He goes back to the kitchen to talk to his manager and just gives me the same response. I told him every other viet restaurant you can see the tendon. He just says sorry. I go to the front and pay. They asked me how the experience was. I told them I didn't want to be rude and just said it was bad because they had customers in the restaurant but he insisted so I told him everything wrong. He was very nice and accepted my feedback but if this place doesn't change soon they won't be here for long. Save your money and go somewhere else.
