AVOID DINING HERE. My experience at this Asian-owned establishment was thoroughly disheartening. Being the only Asian family there, my family and I received noticeably disparate treatment. While other tables, primarily occupied by white customers who arrived after us, received their orders promptly, our food was delayed. We inquired with the waitress about the status of our meal, and she explained that the soft shell crab sandwich would take longer to prepare, so she decided to serve the other dishes first. Ironically, our crab sandwich arrived before the pho and soup we had ordered. Furthermore, the pad Thai, which was part of our order, arrived alongside the crab sandwich, cold and soggy as if it had been left sitting for an extended period. Upon expressing our concerns to the manager about the missing pho and soup, he inexplicably mentioned delays related to a pork chop, which we had never ordered. This incident left us with a distinct impression that we were unfairly singled out, possibly because we were also of Asian descent. I popped into Pho Van for a quick bite after arriving in Pittsburgh late. Despite the late hour, the staff graciously accommodated me, serving me 30 minutes before closing and even staying open a bit later for me to finish my meal. The decor is what you'd expect from a pho shop--nothing too fancy, but not too divey either. I decided to try the Supreme Pho, which certainly didn't disappoint in terms of quantity and flavor. However, I did notice that the broth could have been hotter upon serving. Additionally, at $19.95, the price felt a bit steep for pho, especially considering the area. While I'm not writing off Pho Van entirely, I'm intrigued to explore other Vietnamese spots in the area. 5:14 p.m. I recently stopped by Pho Van Pittsburgh and tried their new menu item, the Pho Pittsburgh Noodle Soup. It was delicious, comforting, and full of flavor. The broth was rich and well-balanced, and the portion size was generous - definitely filling and worth it. The service was friendly and fast, and everything came out hot and fresh. You can tell they care about consistency and quality. I also love that they sell cute Pho shirts and keychains at the shop - such a fun touch and perfect for pho lovers. Way beyond disappointed. Their pho noddles stick together as a big clump and were hard, broken when I tried to separate them. Seems like they have been sitting in the fridge overnight and the chef didn't even bother to boil them before serving. There were only 4 pieces of round eye beef (yet also stick together) for a bowl of $14. The pho broth tasted like water with a little of pho flavor in it. We also order the rice dish with pork chop. The rice tasted like old rice that have been kept in the moist for weeks without being washed before cooked. They recently increased the price but their food quality doesn't keep up with it. Came here with friends and had such a great time. The place feels warm and welcoming, like eating with family. We ordered steamed dumplings, fried dumplings, chicken pad thai, fried rice combo, and vermicelli -- everything was fresh, flavorful, and so satisfying. You can really tell from the photos how good the food looks. The service was kind and attentive, and the food came out hot and well-prepared. Rating: The pho here was excellent. Flavorful broth, noodles were perfect, and the bean sprouts add an additional layer of texture which make the pho experience even better. As a Cuban, rice is VERY important to me. Their rice was fluffy and well seasoned and the portion was appropriate. The only reason this place is not getting 5 stars is because I also ordered a flan here and it was bland. Went into Pho Van this afternoon and had an amazing experience. The service was outstanding from the moment I walked in, and the food was absolutely excellent. I ordered the eye round pho, and at first I wasn't sure if it would be something I'd like but after the very first bite, I instantly fell in love with it. The broth was rich and flavorful, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. Without a doubt, this is the best spot in Pittsburgh for pho. Highly recommend! read more

BAD BAD and BAD!!!!! The food is awful and no flavor. I used to go when it was only Lucy selling her delicious sandwiches in front of the old restaurant and now since the new owners moved in and I tried it, I will never go in there. While the food here is good, and the service very friendly, the menu seems somewhat limited and isn't as exciting as I've seen in other places. The food is good, clean, and reliable. Had the vegan pho and pad thai shrimp it was really good. Khin our waitress was really helpful and kind. Always comes over with a big smile. And the place is really clean. I will be coming back with more friends next time and order more appetizers so we can share. read more

Maybe eat in is better than carry out. My carry out of beef vermicelli noodles was disappointing. Maybe it would have been better if I ate there vs carry out. Reasonable prices though. read more

Best Vietnamese Pho in the city. Love it. Authentic real Vietnamese food. Highly recommend. Can't get more authentic then to go to Vietnam.
