I ordered some simple items- V1, Pho with vegetables and fried tofu, and A4, fried shrimp rolls. But my, oh my was it just what I needed. It's not my best description but I would relate/equate it to chicken noodle soup vibe. Not the taste. It felt good, it tasted great and I did a little happy dance while eating. You know the happy dance, right? It filled my belly very well. And fried shrimp. It literally was shrimp wrapped in wonton paper and fried, with a side of sweet chili sauce to dip. It was sooo good. There were condiments on the table like most places would keep, but it's not quite COVID-19 proper since anyone could have touched the utensils sitting in the dish. However, our servers wore masks. Oh! I can't believe I nearly forgot. I did order two different drinks. The first was 50% unsweet Jasmine green tea and 50% unsweetened, cold. The taste reminded me of licking mailing envelopes. My first experience at Pho Viet was a few years ago and I did not like it. My mistake was getting soup which I'm not a fan of because my dining companion insisted that I would love it. Last night we had three entrees that were each very tasty, and in the case of two of them an elegant presentation. Which seemed somewhat out of place in this tiny nook in a shopping center. The entrees that looked great and tasted great were the grilled pork chops, shrimp, and fried egg served with rice (C5), and rice with grilled chicken (C11). Pho Viet's pho is legit. The broth has rich, deep beef flavor - you walk out with the feeling of nourishment that consuming a ton of collagen gives you. The noodles are great, the meats are cooked well (and appropriately rare) the accompaniments are all fresh, and the condiments (especially the chili garlic paste, a lot of their stuff is clearly housemade) are authentic. Good broth. Not the best I've ever had or anything, but addictive yet drinkable. I also love how hot they serve it, so that it almost burns your mouth. Some people will probably think it's too hot. Those people are losers. ;-) The steak is thin and served still red, the brisket is savory and tender, the meatball chunks are large, and the bean sprouts look relatively fresh. Mayport and its hidden gems ! What a lovely surprise to find this place so close by. It was a rainy and cold night yesterday so my friend suggested ordering takeout at this local business. So my experience and rating is based off of my takeout. We called ahead and ordered number 9. It was ready within 15 minutes bagged and nice & hot! Just be careful of the jalapeños because they are extremely spicy!! I always get the soup. A large is huge and it's a great deal for 11$ vs a small for 9$. Pho Viet is definitely a place that you can go without any planning or worries. No need to dress fancy or worry about a long wait. I came here with a friend because I wanted to review a new place. From the beginning the customer service was on point and I can appreciate that. The dumplings A-5 were a fail for us, I mean the Sriracha made it better but the flavor wasn't there. They brought me out the wrong Pho, and instead of adding more meat (Brisket and rare steak) they just took the meatballs and tripe out. So basically I ordered a large P-9 with the meat of a small?... hmmmm I will say that the broth wasn't bad, I can't say it was the best I've ever had but it wasn't the worse. I will say that my better half didn't enjoy her meal as much as I did, but I came for one thing and one thing only, and that's Pho w/ rare steak and brisket. I can't believe I've lived in Jacksonville on and off for 12 years and never been here. This was my first visit and I was very impressed. On rainy days I always love to eat soup. And, today I was in the mood for Pho. The restaurant is located in a strip mall on Mayport Road. They don't have many tables inside. It's a small restaurant and fills up quickly. I arrived at 8:45 and it was busy. I loved their rare beef Pho. I've never had it where the beef was actually served rare and stacked in the middle of the soup. I really loved how they present this soup. You can cook the beef to your preferred temperature using the hot broth. The broth itself was very tasty and not too salty. This was one of the best Pho soups I've had in Jacksonville. It met all three of my dining requirements. Quality, quantity and easy on the purse. I could not believe it was only $9. Went in on 7-13-19 around 3pm with my son and husband. We all had P17 small rare steak. They are cheap and give you the least amount of meat. You can tell the Siracha is watered down. 30 mins after eating we were hurling our brains out at home. This establishment is not clean. Tucked away in a mayport strip mall, this pho place keeps it simple. The rare steak is pho-nominal. The broth here is more beefy as opposed to over spiced with anise. I have been eating here for years, my only complaint has always been the rude lady that answers the phone and changes the hours based on her "lunch hour" today it was 330pm to 5pm. After Katie C.'s review, I just HAD to try this place. I love Bahn mi and spring rolls, and am picky about both. First of all, I couldn't stop salivating as I slowly read the menu items. My bf and I kept looking at the Yelp pictures and menu to decide what we wanted to try. We opted to go simple this first round: Drinks: vietnamese lemonade. I'm not sure how this was supposed to be a lemonade when there were obvious lime slices in my drink. Nonetheless, I didn't question it because it was quite delicious! :) Tasted almost like limeade. It took a while for them to make it because they had to actually squeeze the lemons / limes. Appetizer: spring rolls. You get 2 rolls. They are cut in half so it looks like 4 small rolls. It comes with a peanut dipping sauce. I personally like to add some of the chili sauce with the peanut sauce to give it a kick! :) Lunch: bahn mi with pork and special noodle soup. The bahn mi was good, but not the best I've ever had. However, for $4, I'll get it again :) The soup that my bf ordered was delicious! I couldn't stop eating it. I felt like a lil piggy eating his soup AFTER I finished my sub. LOL They gave a side of fresh sprouts and basil leaves to add to the soup, which added a wonderful layer of complexity and flavor. A lil info about the environment. The restaurant is situated in a strip mall (same side as Nick the Greek). The seating area is small. They had about 8 tables that fit 4 people per table. 2 of those tables were situated in the middle of the room to accommodate bigger parties. The tables were already outfitted with all your essentials (sriracha sauce, hoisin sauce, fish sauce, soy sauce, hot sauce, chili sauce, chop sticks, soup spoons, and napkins). They also have a TV, which was convenient because we got to watch the first quarter of the Jags football game :) Not sure if anyone noticed, but they have a small altar by the register.
