Mayport and its hidden gems ! What a lovely surprise to find this place so close by. It was a rainy and cold night yesterday so my friend suggested ordering takeout at this local business. So my experience and rating is based off of my takeout. We called ahead and ordered number 9. It was ready within 15 minutes bagged and nice & hot! The employees were kind and quite friendly to us when we came to pick up our food. The place itself looked comforting and I wouldn't mind dining in as well. Our meal was so fresh and delicious! Quiet and intimate seating inside as well as a couple tables outside. I haven't had anything that I haven't liked on their menu. My husband loves the sandwiches and they are only 4.50! Just be careful of the jalapeños because they are extremely spicy!! I always get the soup. A large is huge and it's a great deal for 11$ vs a small for 9$. Pho Viet is definitely a place that you can go without any planning or worries. No need to dress fancy or worry about a long wait. I came here with a friend because I wanted to review a new place. From the beginning the customer service was on point and I can appreciate that. The dumplings A-5 were a fail for us, I mean the Sriracha made it better but the flavor wasn't there. They brought me out the wrong Pho, and instead of adding more meat (Brisket and rare steak) they just took the meatballs and tripe out. So basically I ordered a large P-9 with the meat of a small?... hmmmm I will say that the broth wasn't bad, I can't say it was the best I've ever had but it wasn't the worse. And as I tend to mention, the value for the price is just insane. My "large bowl" ran $9. C'mon! I will say that my better half didn't enjoy her meal as much as I did, but I came for one thing and one thing only, and that's Pho w/ rare steak and brisket. Of all the pho I've consumed in my life, the steak here was the rarest of them all. Pho Viet understands that the meat will cook in the broth. And for that I thank you! I can't believe I've lived in Jacksonville on and off for 12 years and never been here. This was my first visit and I was very impressed. On rainy days I always love to eat soup. And, today I was in the mood for Pho. The restaurant is located in a strip mall on Mayport Road. They don't have many tables inside. It's a small restaurant and fills up quickly. I arrived at 8:45 and it was busy. I loved their rare beef Pho. I've never had it where the beef was actually served rare and stacked in the middle of the soup. I really loved how they present this soup. You can cook the beef to your preferred temperature using the hot broth. The broth itself was very tasty and not too salty. This was one of the best Pho soups I've had in Jacksonville. It met all three of my dining requirements. Quality, quantity and easy on the purse. I could not believe it was only $9. The staff were super friendly and the service was great. I will be sure to return the next time I have a Pho craving. Great find. read more

Absolutely superb! Our family has been there dozens of times over the years and never had an issue with the food or service. The Pho is a favorite of mine as is the Lotus Root Salad. If you have never had a Lotus Root Salad then please try this very tasty appetizer. It has a slight spiciness to it that I enjoy as well. I have been eating here for years, my only complaint has always been the rude lady that answers the phone and changes the hours based on her "lunch hour" today it was 330pm to 5pm. Even when you call ahead, you can't get food. Try and order over the phone, you can't get food. When you actually CAN get food it's delicious, however...I have no idea how she is still in business closing on days she says she open, changing hours that don't match her door hours nor online hours. It's extremely frustrating, I've been in here when other people are working and the experience is pleasant...always is. You can tell the Siracha is watered down. 30 mins after eating we were hurling our brains out at home. This establishment is not clean. Not friendly. Asked for a high chair and the woman said "we don't do that here". To which I replied "what?" In a confused manner. She then said "wait 2 minutes, I busy now" and proceeded to dismiss me. This happened as soon as I walked in with my son and husband and we immediately felt unwelcome so we decided to leave. I was upset because I was excited to try Pho again since we hadn't had any since living out of the country for the past 2 years. Unfortunately for them we went across the parking lot to the Juicy crab where the service was impeccable and spent lots of money there. Could've been them but The juicy crab was so worth it! This is one of those places that you don't want everyone to know about, but then you feel guilty for hoarding good pho for yourself. Tucked away in a mayport strip mall, this pho place keeps it simple. The rare steak is pho-nominal. The broth here is more beefy as opposed to over spiced with anise. When I first brought the significant other he wasn't wild about it, but after convincing him to give it another shot he agreed that it is one of the better pho places in Jacksonville. After Katie C.'s review, I just HAD to try this place. I love Bahn mi and spring rolls, and am picky about both. First of all, I couldn't stop salivating as I slowly read the menu items. My bf and I kept looking at the Yelp pictures and menu to decide what we wanted to try. We opted to go simple this first round: Drinks: vietnamese lemonade. I'm not sure how this was supposed to be a lemonade when there were obvious lime slices in my drink. Nonetheless, I didn't question it because it was quite delicious! :) Tasted almost like limeade. It took a while for them to make it because they had to actually squeeze the lemons / limes. Appetizer: spring rolls. You get 2 rolls. They are cut in half so it looks like 4 small rolls. It comes with a peanut dipping sauce. I personally like to add some of the chili sauce with the peanut sauce to give it a kick! :) Lunch: bahn mi with pork and special noodle soup. The bahn mi was good, but not the best I've ever had. However, for $4, I'll get it again :) The soup that my bf ordered was delicious! I couldn't stop eating it. I felt like a lil piggy eating his soup AFTER I finished my sub. LOL They gave a side of fresh sprouts and basil leaves to add to the soup, which added a wonderful layer of complexity and flavor. A lil info about the environment. The restaurant is situated in a strip mall (same side as Nick the Greek). The seating area is small. They had about 8 tables that fit 4 people per table. 2 of those tables were situated in the middle of the room to accommodate bigger parties. The tables were already outfitted with all your essentials (sriracha sauce, hoisin sauce, fish sauce, soy sauce, hot sauce, chili sauce, chop sticks, soup spoons, and napkins). They also have a TV, which was convenient because we got to watch the first quarter of the Jags football game :) Not sure if anyone noticed, but they have a small altar by the register. I mean I drive 45 minutes just to have pho here soooo I'd say it's pretty great! Very authentic and they have great options for everyone! I especially love this place because of its seafood options. I've heard Pho Viet is the best Vietnamese food around, so yesterday I made the trek to good ol' Mayport to find out for myself. Upon entering, I was first and foremost surprised at the tiny size of the restaurant. It's a very simple one-room affair with no more than seven or eight tables. That's cool, I like a good hole in the wall. It didn't take me long to order because I came with a craving for Bahn Mi, a Vietnamese baguette sandwich make with chicken, beef, or pork and pickled cucumbers, carrots and cilantro. As anyone who reads my reviews is well aware, I always go pork, and this lunch was no exception. We started with the Spring Rolls as an appetizer, and I was surprised when they came out looking like what I know as summer rolls. No fried goodness here, just fresh, fresh veggies and shrimp in a rice paper roll. Actually, now I kind of remember that these are called spring rolls in Viet cuisine. Either way, they were tasty, especially when dipped in the generous side of peanut sauce. Good start, but I was ready for the main munch. The sandwich came out looking huge and delicious, a steal at only $4! I bit into the warm baguette and the flavors of tender, marinated pork and pickled veggies immediately twirled together scrumptiously. And wow, the bread! So warm and soft. Always the yeast enthusiast, I had to ask where they got it. My server told me "Publix" matter of factly. Hmmp. Makes sense. Stuff was good! Halfway through I had to pick the fresh jalapenos off my sandwich because I'm a baby about spice, but other than that it was fantastic. I had a great, and VERY cost-efficient lunch at Pho Viet. I need to get back and try the rest of their expansive menu, but I see why they have such reputable word of mouth in these parts. read more
