There were good things and bad... 1st visit: we got B1 (rice vermicelli w grill pork) It was ok. not bad but didn't stand out. We also ordered taro bubble tea and it was bad. The taste was off and there was barely any bubbles! And the few bubbles that we did get was not fresh and clumped together and hard. Trust me, I've had hundreds of taro bubble tea and this may be the worst. Service was eh. Didn't offer us water, I guess cause we had our bubble tea? One of the boys gave us our food but never gave us utensils. smh.. We waited a min to see if he would be back with it. nope, hubby had to get up and ask him for it. Most of the reviews here say their pho is great. So after our first visit I said we'll give them 1 more chance... We ordered take out this time. We got the Large Pho Special. When I opened the containers I was very disappointed. The portions were small. I've never had a large order be so small. I felt like I got ripped off. BUT....... the flavor was there. It was actually very good. And I finished it fast and wanted more... but there was no more. :( All-in-all: If I'm really dying for pho I'll go there but they are NOT my first choice. I have been coming here for years and absolutely believe it is the best Vietnamese food in Jacksonville. I have tried other places previously and the flavors and the little extra things just weren't there. Details matter greatly, I think pho Viet puts in those details and makes sure you get more than your money's worth. No matter how popular that have become, they have always kept the quality and care. Every time I walk in they remember my name and ask about my life, I think it's special, I feel like I'm going to my moms house for dinner, so safe and comfy. The food was very good, service is slow because they are short on staff, I called to see if we left a cellphone there, lady said "I'm very busy, what you want." Unfortunately this place has gone downhill. I'm Vietnamese. We've tried the pho, grilled pork noodle bowl, bun bo hue, pork chop and rice. Portions are smaller than ever, veggies/herbs aren't the freshest, and they are so stingy with their meat. For example , they cut up one bo vien (meatball) into 4 pieces to serve with their pho. The rare steak is so thinly sliced it's like paper. There is hardly enough grilled pork. Flavors are good but on the whole, the meal is not very satisfying. Great service, tiny spot, has been packed since I got here. Outdoor seating, and I was able to be seated immediately. Iced coffee is spot on, but there are about 15 active duty service people here, and literally all of them got the iced sweetened jasmine green tea. I'm jealous. Go with a large bowl, though. I love Pho and was disappointed by this restaurant. Started off with spring rolls which were tasty but the exterior was sticky so I don't think they were very fresh. Ordered the large rare steak Pho for $10 which is below average in price compared to other places in town. The small plate of bean sprouts, cilantro and basil for two was what most places would give one person. The Pho itself was unimpressive with very little meat, bland broth and the noodles were clumped together in the bottom of the bowl. Dined on a Thursday for lunch. Orders included pho (brisket, rare steak, flank, tendon,meatball) and a grill platter that included pork, steak chicken and a fried egg. This is the best pho/vietnamese restaurant in Jacksonville. Located in an unassuming shopping mall in Mayport, this restaurant is run by a Vietnamese family. I've never actually eaten in the restaurant (the restaurant itself is small and clean, but you aren't missing anything with atmosphere). They do a good job with the to-go orders. Even with a complicated menu, we have never had any mess-ups and have probably gotten to-go from here about 20 times. The pho is perfect (not too salty and with wonderful flavor), and when you get it to-go, everything is separated so it all stays fresh and you can add or leave out whatever you want. We always order the same thing. Dumplings or spring rolls for an appetizer, the B3 - Rice Vermicelli w/ grilled chicken and pork, and the P9 - Noodle soup w/ rare steak and well done brisket. It is absolutely enough food for two people to eat dinner and always fills us up (usually with some left over). If you are a Vietnamese fan, this is a MUST try. Deceiving location on Yelp app's map, it is actually one driveway north from the map location. This is a mom and pop shop because the last time I came it was closed (I was thinking not enough business, "victim to the pandemic") but upon inquiring about the closure, the cooks were out of town. LOL. A good sign because I love mom and pop places. As compared to other Vietnamese restaurants around JAX, this is just average. The flavors are correct, but "ethnically cleansed" (aka flavor taken down a notch to accommodate the cro magnon palette of the locals). We started with the pork and beef bahn mi sandwiches. Bread was extremely dry and wasn't help by the dry pork and beef it was served with. Don't expect jalapeno's here, may be too spicy for their patrons. And the do chua was probably only pickled for an hour. It lacked that bite it was suppose to deliver. Overall I wouldn't order this sandwich again. The shaken beef was delicious but lacked meat. I wish there was more of it considering the price. But I would order it again. The crowning part of the meal was the the P1 Pho. Broth was nice and rich. And all the accoutrements were fresh and flavorful. We also had the pork spring roll but that was also lacking any flavor. Overall, just an ehh experience. read more

My first time and definitely will not be my last. Walked it to be greeted and sat quickly in seconds. They had my beer to the table with in a minute of sitting down. Watched them do numerous take out orders well we waited for our food.(about 10 minuets) I hade the chicken stir fry with chicken and my friend had the classic pho with meatballs and what not. This is a small local restaurant...and it smells wonderful when you walk in. I use to live overseas and have spent a lot of time in Vietnam, so I love Vietnamese food. Asked about the fried egg rolls(lumpia) and if they were served with lettuce and herbs the way I ate them in Vietnam and Las Vegas. He said yes. I ordered 2 orders of them. They came to the table a tad over brown but tasted great. He brought the lettuce and 2 pieces of cilantro when I asked for it. However, he never gave me napkins or checked on me again. Overall the lumpia was very tasty. The filling was good and not just cabbage like Chinese egg rolls. I smelled some of the soups going by and thought about trying them. My husband and I stopped after the airport and were starving. We ordered summer roll, spring roll, crispy dumplings, wonton soup and pho. I wouldn't say that I'm a pho connoisseur but It's part of my food history and the pho in DC/va is pretty good which is where I'm from. The broth was flavorful and the meatballs tasted homemade and not rubbery. The steak was good too. The wonton soup had a clear chicken broth and the wontons were very delicate with green onion and pieces of pork. Summer rolls were good but had some brown lettuce and dip wasn't as thick. spring rolls had a good proportion of meat and veggies with not a lot of filler but we make them at home and can make them about the same. I was killing time waiting for a pie just down the road when I wandered into this place. I had gone into the Cuban restaurant and looked at the menu but just didn't see what I wanted. Too bad for me they have really good food. At the other end of the strip mall the Sports themed place didn't appeal to me at all. Headed for my truck I spotted Pho Vietnamese Restaurant across the parking lot. I decided I would get an easy rice thing and go about my business. The restaurant is small, not atypical and clean. Two military ladies from Mayport were eating who said they liked their food. Poor things must have been living on K-rations. I sat down and asked if they had lunch specials they did not. Chicken fried rice caught my eye as it's usually pretty good and safe almost anywhere. The food came out quickly and I still can't decide if it had less quantity or flavor. I was pretty surprised, I mean come on it's chicken fried rice not Peking Duck. There was no textural difference in the offering. A bamboo shoot, water chestnut or even a carrot that wasn't overcooked would have helped. How about a nice piece of sweetly fried onion? Their meal was just greasy and bland. I forget the menu item like everyone else has in their reviews. $10 dollars.... that includes two shrimp? Overall, the dish was good, tasty, nothing worth declaring awesome like the other reviews but good enough to convince me it's worth going again to try other menu items. The lady who took my order was very nice and I have no complaints about her service. The others, I can't say because I haven't interacted with them. The place was pretty full by the time I arrived (only two tables inside open) and full by the time I left so they do good business. I guess it does matter when you go if you want the best cook and staff. Just don't expect a five star experience. That's reserved for the best of the best. If my meal was more fuller, maybe four to five shrimps, and a dollar less, then I would probably give it a four star for the value, taste, and service based on today (not next time). read more
