This place is a little strip mall restaurant, which is quite busy for takeouts. The food was again not what I expected. I ordered a beef with mushrooms and garlic, and I got more vegetables which I guess maybe people like more but the gravy wasn't even like a good gravy thick you know so I think it best. The ambience is not the greatest as it's a small location, but the lady is very nice. I just wish they would again add some. You know meat to their orders. read more

This was a bit different than what I am used to. The chicken had a consistency more like tofu for some reason. I got the general Tso's chicken and beef lo mein. The beef was a bit bland too. Pricing was fair I would say. Not bad, but just not for me. read more

It was good to find a nice Chinese restaurant in the area that I didn't have to drive 20 miles to get to for a change. China Garden is next to a reduced Walmart store, which makes it a convenient stop when you're in the area. The restaurant is nice in appearance but there is not a lot of seating inside because it's rather small. It appears most orders are call-ins and takeout. I was takeout on my two visits but did call the order in first on my second visit. It's sort of a tale of two visits here. The shop has a large menu and can keep you looking for something special off it. During the first visit, we got the chicken-shrimp meal, along with curry chicken and onions. Both were very good and I looked forward to the next visit! Well, issues arose with the food from the second visit. The bourbon chicken seemed over-cooked and not fresh - too chewy. I guess more like leftovers from the day before. I also found a hair in my chicken with cashews meal. These are the reasons why what could have originally been a four-star rated restaurant for me came down to three star. Our go to take out Chinese restaurant. Yes, there are closer take out spots to our house. Three of them, actually. And yet- we drive further because it is so much better! They also now know us by name/order. Well, they know John. I laugh when he orders without me and they question if everything is ok- bwahahahaa. My go to is shrimp with mixed veggies. John likes an assortment of dishes like house lo mein, cashew chicken, kung pow, sweet and sour chicken. Obviously he likes them a lot. You'd laugh- I like them over the others based on their egg rolls and soup. I'll start this review with the preface of I lived in china for 4 years and I am very picky about my "real" Chinese food and "American" Chinese food. We've been ordering from China garden for several years now and the food is always consistently good! We enjoy that they have your American Chinese standards like general tsaos as well as some more traditional Chinese dishes like sichuan chicken. We usually order delivery and are consistently impressed with how quick they are to get out their food. Our favorites tend to be the cream cheese wontons, steamed dumplings, combo general tsaos with chicken, current chicken, and the sichuan chicken. Their pork fried rice is excellent- lots of flavor! The egg drop soup and Mongolian beef are both so good! I always come to this spot whenever I want Chinese food. It is always ready within 10-15 minutes and very well priced. I've gotten other chicken/beef/veggie dishes and they've all been good. Highly recommend! read more

My husband and I have been getting takeout from China Garden for quite a while now and in our opinion this is the best Chinese food out there. It is always fresh and delicious. I recently tried the seafood soup and was amazed at how delicious it was ! Also best ribs and fried chicken wings of any restaurant out there! I ordered a fried rice and wings combo. The wings are legit whole wings, and there's quite a few of them. The breading is consistent and delightfully crispy. It's a simple but addictive dry seasoning. The meat is surprisingly tender. The fried rice was also better than I expected. This joint is better than most others like it. If I lived closer, I'd probably hit it occasionally. It makes me wish they'd done something to stand out more. read more

Coming from New England I have struggled to find good Chinese food. This place has become my monthly go to! They make the hot mustard sauce in house, moo shu is great, crab Rangoons are the best, and the general Tso tofu is incredible. Always fresh hot and fast! I wish they still made the duck sauce in house though. read more

What a disappointment!! You guys just ruined my dinner. I ordered through Uber eats a roast pork chow mein among other items and they send some goo-ey dish. (Pics attached) I really tried to take it cool and have it but the dish lacked any flavor. Not appealing, totally boring, uninspired. Trash service. Walked in with a smile and said hello. Lady behind the counter said can I help you like we were bothering her. My child said hello, she shook her head and repeated can I help you with more attitude. I saw her through the door. She looked irritated as we entered. Like we were disturbing her empty restaurant. I told her no and we left. Very rude. I used to eat here. The food is too expensive and not good at all for the service to be trash. I only buy it because my son likes it. Now I don't have to anymore. I'm going to spread this throughout my mom group, book clubs, fitness groups, the PTA at both schools, and the HOA that this restaurant does not give good service and you should save your money. Ordered variety of entrees see pics, all excellent taste and fresh. Portions are very good and prices are very reasonable. My fav is the beef with mushrooms it was flavorful and fresh. I was extremely hungry and and craving of Chinese food . I have never tried food from this establishment and for the first time trying it out I will say it was wonderful. I've been back twice since this review for take out! The most recent time, my food had hard chunks in the tofu (little pebbles? Or metal from cookware?) not sure what it was but I could have broken a tooth it was VERY hard. I thought it was just the one bite but I continued eating and found that it was within all of the entree. I spit it out and inspected to find a metal/or rock looking pieces. I'm so shocked??? As a food service delivery driver I spend a lot of time in restaurants waiting on orders. I was there to pick up an order last week and I was appalled by the way the front of house woman was treating her customers. There was a patron in line just ahead of me, he was clearly mentally disabled. After he got his food he placed it on a nearby table to check it out, the woman working starting yelling, practically screaming, at him to get out of her restaurant. He seemed rather flustered and unsure what to do. She just kept yelling at him. Finally he took his food and left. When I left with my to go order I noticed him sitting on the ground down the walkway outside eating his lunch. My heart really hurt for this man. He bought food there, paid for it and then was told( screaming) that he wasn't welcome to eat his food there. The front of house lady was also less than friendly to me, I would not recommend giving a business like this any business at all. I still think about that man and hope he is doing well. I refuse to deliver food from that restaurant any longer and will urge anyone I know not to ever patron that establishment. read more

This chinese restaurant is the best takeout chinese restaurant we have had so far in Jacksonville and we have tried the ones in the area that are ranked higher. The prices are very reasonable and have good portions. We are also vegan and they give a lot of vegetables when you order items like veggie rice. Many places just take out the meat and don't add much more veggies. read more

Unbelievable! The stigma associated with Chinese take out places is REAL! I saw a Serv-Safe certification hanging but I didn't see safe serving! They had open colas in the back on the prep tables and were drinking out of them as they waited on food. Also cashier did not wash her hands after handling my money, or taking food back over counter. Cashier became very hostile and argumentative with me when I brought my meal back up and asked for exchange due to food tasting awful! Not done at all! Hard peas in old tasting fried rice! I was told general chicken is the same as orange chicken minus the orange peel! Never heard such thing in my life! Nice location with horrible service and food! I will stick to the Hot Wok on Beach and San Pablo. Lesson learned! read more
