The Summer of Love it isn't always sunny outside in San Francisco. The only thing that's shines all the time in SF are the bright laptop and phone screens. If you are new to San Francisco welcome to lots of overcast days and that includes the Summer of Love . Overcast days outside are my favorite time to grab some soup. I wanted a soup which is refreshing and my chicken soup for the soul is Pho Ga ( I will have this soup even if it's 90 degrees outside). There are lots of San Francisco restaurants which have Pho in the name are usually good . Someone once told if it has Pho in the name or a number associated in the name to give it a whirl. I went to the Pho Vietnam at the border of the Polk Gulch on Polk street in San Francisco . I made my mind made up about getting the Pho but the menu has lots to choose from with items from Vietnam with a hint of French influences. I stuck with the Pho Ga since that's what I wanted. It had a tasty broth and the chicken was tender along with the noodles. The imperial rolls were delicious a little crispy and with good crunch when wrapped in lettuce, noodles and dipped in fish sauce which gave it a delicious flavor. Try the Vietnamese coffee. Give it a whirl. Each bowl of Pho Ga is Chicken soup for the soul go inside Pho Vietnam in San Francisco on a Summer of Love stroll Although it's Summer in SF it's okay grab a shrimp Vietnamese Spring roll but the smell outside it's something you can't control just avoid the poop and make sure it doesn't get underneath your sole

Great pho, exactly what I was looking for. No fancy atmosphere, just calm vibes. Came late on a Wednesday night and was the only party eating. Service was nice and simple

Stopped in on my way home from work and got the bun Bo hue! Broth was flavorful, meat was tender and veggies were fresh. Quick and friendly service and very casual ambience.

Pho was great but the lemongrass fish a bit oily. Space is nice and some dishes very reasonably priced. The pho was big, tasty, and probably what I should have ordered too.

Honestly, the best Pho hands down. Oh, and the imperial rolls! Been coming here for at least 5 years and we were terrified it wasn't coming back after Covid. Thank goodness. We need to keep local places like this around!

Cute pho restaurant with very nice owners. The pho was rich in beef flavor and the meat was nice and soft. I ordered a well done flank, brisket, and beef balls. The broth was very beefy and tasty. I don't think they use msg so the flavor is real and not as salty but I didn't mind because I add my own sauces which include enough salt and spice. The price is decent for the amount of pho you get and the overall experience was so nice.

Alright pho the noodles are kinda soggy

We've heard about the lines and how it sells out quick as well, so we came for a late lunch at 2:30pm. The line didn't look too bad at first until I learned that there are only 11 seats exactly inside and only 2 people running the whole show. Having eaten nothing yet, this two and a half hour line did a number on us. We were so hungry that I left the line to quickly pick up some takoyaki to snack on while we waited. Once you finally get to the front, you order at the kiosk and everything is entirely self-serviced from getting seated to picking up your order. When we finally got our food, we were disappointed by how broken our soba was and how many clumps we found as well. The soba itself was also mediocre and not worth the hype. I got the scallop kakiage and while it was good some pieces were undercooked like my eggplant and that was really hard to eat. The food wasn't terrible, but not great and definitely not worth the wait and hassle. A pass for me :(

Once we got closer to the front, the host came by to hand us menus so we knew what to order as soon as we were seated. The restaurant is pretty small so the dining experience feels a little hectic. If you're looking for a calm, relaxing place to eat, I wouldn't say this is the place. It's sort of an "in and out" situation. I ordered the spicy G.K.O. So so delicious. The flavors really jump out at you. The broth is so cozy and smooth. The portion was decent and the ingredients felt proportional. My boyfriend ordered the vegan Miso. My only real complaint was the seating arrangement. My wife and I were seated at a shared counter-style table that was divided by a glass partition. While the partition provided some separation, I could still clearly see the people sitting directly across from us, along with all the eating noises and conversations. I personally prefer a little more privacy while dining, so that took away from the experience. I won't comment on the wait time because that's pretty normal for popular restaurants in San Francisco. The highlight of the meal was definitely the A5 Wagyu Ramen. It was absolutely delicious and worth ordering. The flavors were amazing, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting. Overall, the food was outstanding, and despite the seating arrangement, I would gladly return.

I've been to plenty of Japanese/Ramen spots and I've been running into the issue where I say I have a soy allegry and there is an assumption that I have a gluten issue (I do not have a gluten issue). I noticed yelp said they have soy-free options and thus called on Friday thinking it might be a bad idea as they're usually busy.. It was defintely hard for the person to hear a bit when they picked up. The staff did relay something about gluten free noodles.. Anyways, they said they could swap out any of the soy soups for salt (but soy can encompass a lot of things so I still wasn't feeling super confident but we're going to give it a go). We go and I asked which 4 of the soups I was eyeballing don't have soy - the staff said they can accomodate and replace any of the soy soups with a salt broth. After we ordered, the staff came back and checked in to make sure that my partner also didn't have an allergy. And my dish came out, they told me there was no egg as its marinated in soy - perfect to me. I'm glad that was caught as not every establishments can account for everything. - Now I have a spot to (more safely) eat ramen! - I advise that if you do have an food allergy, do talk to the staff, and address your concerns such as cross contamination etc. I had a great experience, but I do find that because its not so regulated or understood and there is lack of education amongst the food/resturant industry - you always need to advocate for yourself and there is always a risk. We had it family style. The 3 of us shared it all. There was plenty to go around. None of us left hungry. I can't even pick a favorite. Maybe the numb and spicy which wasn't that spicy. It was just so good and flavorful. The soup dumplings were amazing. So much perfect flavor. They held together until the bite. So good. The hot and sour soup was plenty tasty. Not the best I've ever had but certainly among the best. The only thing I will say is that one of my companions can't have seaweed. The wonton soup was amazing but full of seaweed. It wasn't listed on the menu and we have never had seaweed in any other wonton soup so didn't know to ask if it could be left out. That was sad. The Galbi stew was exceptional. I liked that they had various levels of spiciness. We went with spicy and it had a nice kick that elevated the dish for me.
