One of our favorite restaurants in San Diego. Small, family - operated and convenient. We missed having a chance to chat with David- conversations with him brighten our day when he's working. The food was good! It's a small restaurant and with a To-go option. It's near the hospital and a good option for food if you're looking to grab something on a break or visiting at the hospital. Service was good! They spoke English and Vietnamese and answered questions about the menu. My honest thought is that its taste is somehow American-catered? It feels like there's something missing?? I am always super happy whenever I get pho from here! The man that I believe owns the place is always super sweet and is generous with the amount of toppings he includes. Last time I got pho from here I ordered through uber eats and was disappointed because the driver spilled my whole soup in the bag when I messaged Pho Xpress I got a new delivery and they made sure to tape down the lid and pack it perfectly for me!! I keep forgetting to take a picture because every time I come here I am hungry!! The food comes almost immediately hot and ready to be devoured. A warm friendly greeting usually by an older gentleman but today I am later than usual so it was a younger man. Seating never seems to be a problem but don't let that fool you. They do phone orders and pick ups that keep coming and going while you eat. Nice large TV if you want to watch but it's kept at a low volume. The phone is answered on the first ring every time I swear! Fast friendly and efficient just like the restaurant itself. I always order the grilled pork and rice. I need to order the noodle bowls but I get stuck on the deliciousness I know. The price is less expensive than any typical lunch that will fill you up and offer the great Vietnamese coffee. I had a hankering for banh mi and decided to order them from Pho Xpress via Doordash. The grilled chicken banh mi was a good deal at $8, but it was actually kind of bland though the chicken was grilled nicely. The vermicelli with medium rare beef had good quality beef slices, but the husband thought it was not a lot of beef for the price ($17). Note that the picture for the spring rolls is incorrect on the Doordash app. They're not fried - if that's what you're looking for get the egg rolls - and are actually cold rolls with shrimp, which is what we wanted. The spring rolls (I usually call these "summer rolls") were fine but I like when they have more herbs. The person answering the phone was very helpful and was able to tell me about any nuts in the dishes. read more

My FAVORITE pho restaurant in all of San Diego (this and their other location restaurant in Downtown)! The food is so fresh and delicious - and you are served so promptly. This location in particular does a ton of to go orders because of the proximity to Kaiser Hospital so I never have any issues with getting a table whenever we want pho. While we were eating they probably had like 15 to go orders and the wait time for that was so quick too so if you're a patron of the hospital and need a quick yummy bite to eat and tire of cafeteria food - go here!!! The pho is solid and packed with flavor - we always end up with a completely empty bowl because can't waste the delicious broth! The vermicelli is also superb - I especially like the beef and pork because the seasoning and texture is just perfection. I've tried their other menu options too - can definitely recommend the fried rice and rice dishes! We'll keep coming back :) Parking is not an issue since it is in a strip mall and there is ample parking. The restaurant and the bathroom is also clean and roomy. The staff are so nice and greet you with a big smile and are eager to make sure your meal is perfect. There are a few other regulars too so you know it's a family oriented place :) read more

Dude...the to go containers weigh more than the food. These portion sizes are super small for the price point. To top that off the food is just meh at best. I cannot recommend this place when you can go across the street and get better pho with larger portions. This is a small place but I was impressed with the flavors of the chicken pho. Well veggie and tofu with chicken added for extra protein. The staff was friendly and helpful and I found that I liked getting a smaller serving than most pho places but it was still plenty. The food came out pretty fast which was great!
