Not super impressed. Placed an order to go. Ordered the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp after reading the reviews and when I opened the box I was like this is it... for $18 we only got two shrimp and if that is a side of mixed greens it looked like the leftovers from another guests plate was given to us. We also ordered the PCG pasta and smoke house burger. When asked what side for the burger we wanted sweet potato fries and the person who took the order on the phone said they no longer offer these fries. My partner also asked for the Caramelized onions to be on the side and I think they figured he didn't want any at all. Odd it was still listed on the site. Overall not super impressed. read more

Met a friend here for happy hour. Initially we were told we could only get he HH prices in the bar. Luckily, especially during this time of COVID19, they allowed us to sit in the restaurant to get the HH prices. Hello! Smart!! The restaurant was practically empty! Otherwise, we would have just taken our business to another establishment. There were a couple of bar stools opening up so we eventually were able to sit at the bar. The queso fundito and the green chile were tasty, but what was especially good was the bacon wrapped shrimp! I could have eaten a whole plate of that! It was absolutely delish! The service was good. I can't remember the bartender's name. Maybe Frank?? Dunno. He's been there forever. I can't say the same for the people at the hostess desk. One young man kept rolling his eyes about something. I don't know what his problem was. It's a good neighborhood place. I'm glad to report the food was as I remembered it versus when I had brought some of my out-of-town relatives. The service and food were absolutely amazing. Showed up on a Sunday with 12 people and had one of the most amazing experiences. By the time I remembered to take pics it was too late. So I apologize for not including more. Cinnamon roll, where to begin, it had bacon, that should be good lol. It was pretty solid. LOVE this place! I've come here several times, with guests, and for at least two birthdays and we are never disappointed - in fact, if it weren't so far out of our way, we would dine here more often. From the appetizers and drinks to the entrees and desserts, everything has been wonderful and we love the lowlight ambiance. To boot, we've eaten here more than once without a reservation and didn't have to wait long to get in, so I certainly hope more people continue to come here without it getting TOO crazy. I've been here several times, and I've been impressed every single time. Their menu changes often and they always source fresh local ingredients when they can. They also get seasonal seafood from Chula which is a huge plus. I tried their seared grouper with spicy Thai salad and rice, might be the best one they've done. I visited for the first time for Valentine's Day for a late dinner (9PM). Great looking restaurant and wonderful hostesses greeted us. Our Server was cordial and greeted pretty quickly. The menu was as diverse was as diverse as the crowd which was a bonus. I started with the clam chowder and my partner had a salad. Chowder was delicious and I partner enjoyed the salad. The main entrees came out quickly. Unfortunately they never cleared our salad and soup bowls when food arrived. We pushed them aside as food came and waited for them to clear the plates. Never happened. The food was just blah. I had the short rib and it was good, tender. Just under seasoned. My girlfriend had the PCG pasta and the sauce was runny, chicken rubbery and pasta . It was a dark and stormy night... My friend and I were treated to an evening of deliciousness and accommodation by a lady I'll have to call Awesome Server because I did not get her name. (She is short with long dark hair and a great smile - please give her a raise or a puppy.) My margarita ended up being too sweet for my liking and although I don't like sending things back, she damn near insisted. My replacement margarita was much more to my taste. My friend was unhappy as her steak had a mess of vegetables on it and a sauce on her fries. Awesome server took all in stride - she offered to replace (we declined) and she offered to bring us new non-wet fries (we accepted). She was the perfect amount of attentive without being hover-y and she made it okay that we didn't like a couple of things. She also just had a fantastic attitude and she was a big chunk of why we enjoyed ourselves that evening. I haven't even gotten to the food yet! My eggplant sandwich was amazing and I'd come back just for that. There aren't a lot of menus in Phoenix metro that get my pescatarian tongue excited but Phoenix City Grille did. We frequent here and usually have amazing service. Tonight however we had a Ryan or Bryan and all he cared about was being on his phone, very poor services his coworkers attempted to assist and were great, they even reminded him to get off his phone. Came for ARW. My bf got the pork chop and I got the shrimp and grits-they were both very good. Our favorite part was the crispy cauliflower appetizer-soo good!! We also got both desserts to try. We found Phoenix City Grille about 3 years ago when we were looking for a restaurant centrally located to hold a small party after son's wedding for a group of about 20 people. Phoenix City Grille (PCG) was very accommodating with us on short notice to have a table of that size and got out the food in a timely manner for us. We have visited there several times since then and have never been disappointed in the food or service. First time writing a review of our experience Saturday night, 6/8/19. We made reservations through Open Table for 6:30 and got there around 6:20. We were promptly taken to our table and within minutes, Tara, our server, greeted us saying water was on the way and took our drink order. We got a bottle of Seven Daughters Red Blend wine, the first time we had tried that wine, but not the last time. It was good! Tara returned shortly after with our wine, which was a twist open top, which she commented she had heard from others in the wine industry that wines without a cork often are better preserved than those with a cork. She was proficient in serving our wine and taking our order. I got the Baja Shrimp and added a Cesar salad. Hubby got the beef tenderloin cooked medium and also added a Cesar salad. Within minutes of our order, our salads came. Delicious. Unique dressing on a Cesar salad, hubby thought it had a taste of lemon in it, but very delicious. Shortly after, our entrees came out, appealing looking, hot, and very scrumptious. Good size portions. Tara was attentive in providing for our needs and very personable. We were in the back room with about 6-8 tables in it which about 3/4 of them were filled. It was a little loud but you could still hold a conversation without shouting at someone. So disappointed. Don't come here if you're trying to celebrate. Havent been here in years and were excited to go yesterday for a birthday dinner for my mom. We were 1 of 2 tables in the restaurant, not including the few in the bar. The 1 star is not only for the absent, bare minimum service, but the food was nothing to celebrate either. The burrata came with only 2 burnt pieces of bread (would've loved to have even been able to ask for more since there was 4 of us). The cup of soup was the smallest I've ever seen. Shrimp and grits was small- 4 little pieces of shrimp and half a scoop of grits, covered in oily vegetables... Again, so disappointed. Not worth the $180 dinner. read more

Delicious food! Husband had the ribs and they were literally fall off the bone. The wine/cocktail menu had many options which is great. I gave it 4 stars because I ordered a small pasta for my oldest and a large pasta for me to share with my middle child and the only thing large about the large pasta was the plate. I was expecting more pasta than the small but oh well. I think they should serve garlic bread or a roll with the pasta since my husband received sides with his ribs haha. Living so close to this restaurant, it has been on my list of places to try for a while. The location is interesting as it is on a side of a strip mall. While parking looks limited right in front of the restaurant, there is parking in the rear, so I had no trouble at all on a Sunday evening. Our reservation was for 6:30 Sunday night and we were seated immediately at a booth when we arrived. We were pretty hungry when we arrived so it did not take long for us to order our food. I ordered the steakhouse burger (without mushrooms) and my boyfriend ordered the Madison stir fry. I absolutely loved my burger. First of all, it was enormous and served with a good amount of thin-cut crispy fries. The burger was so flavorful. The patty was cooked to perfection (medium with a pink center). The caramelized onions added a nice sweetness, the cheese was gooey, and the house made steak sauce made the burger. In addition, the burger was served on brioche bread, which is my favorite bread for burger buns. The brioche was so soft and delicious, but the one con of brioche is how easily it falls apart. My one complaint about the dish was that the fries were not seasoned. The stir fry was also really delicious! The sriracha-citrus glaze was really unique and had just the right amount of kick. The coconut rice and quinoa pilaf meshed well with the stir fry and every flavor paired well. My boyfriend and I will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes!! read more

Stagg Jr Bourbon drop on Saturday, January 21st was a huge disappointment. Decided to have lunch prior to the 2pm drop. Since there wasn't supposed to be a line forming, I would be right there. Here's the disappointing part, they said no line forming before 2pm, yet there were people lined up outside 100 deep by 1:30. The event didn't even start until 2. There was a smaller line inside the bar waiting for the drop. I asked someone in that line about why they weren't waiting outside with everyone else and he showed a blue ticket I asked how he got the ticket and he just said he'd been there all day. Hmmmmm. Finally, they ran out of bottles around 30 people. Don't have an "event" advertise that it starts at 2pm without allowing lines and do the exact opposite. Also, you should probably mention that you'll only have a few bottles. That way 75% of the people there wouldn't waste their time. On a positive note, the food was good. read more

Cozy atmosphere with lots of drink options including specialty mocktails so everyone can enjoy something fun! Just had the bacon wrapped shrimp and the crispy eggplant bites, both delicious and would order again. The shrimp are large with thick bacon wrapped around it, tail on. The dipping sauce has just a little kick (not much) but paired perfectly. Crispy eggplant bites were as stated, very crispy coating topped with dressed arugula and cheese crumbles. Eggplant is cut thin so it's *almost* like eating a chip but better. French 75 was served up, more like a martini, which is different than I've had in the past. Very good but not traditional, little on the sweeter side. Can't wait to go back and try dinner here! read more

I had the Rose Lane chicken entree which was very good. Chicken was moist, Yukon potatoes served in the middle of the plate around the tarragon pan jus was great. Most had long waits, but Phoenix City Grille let me right in-- they also were packed but there was a table-for-one available. Lucky me! My first impression could not have been better: server happily checked on a food allergy issue and came back with full information, so I was able to order with confidence. I met a colleague here for lunch, he said that this is one of his favorite restaurants in Phoenix. The place is located in a strip mall and it has a cute small outdoor seating area. It's a pretty dark restaurant to be careful when you take the two steps up to the dining area. Service is very good and place is very clean. I ordered the following: Roasted Beet Salad ($10): it had mixed greens, candied pecans, orange segments, goat cheese, roasted beets, apples and sherry vinaigrette. It was very good, very light and flavorful and the dressing was perfect. Dreamy Draw Chili ($6): I love chili and unfortunately I'm not a fan of this one. It was too thick so I didn't really enjoy it. This is the perfect place for a business meeting, next time when I'm in Phoenix and need to schedule lunch with a colleague, I will definitely go here. read more

This solid staple of the downtown Phoenix dining scene continues to impress. From its excellent bar staff (who make amazing libations) to its Phoenician-centered decor to its super-friendly staff, it has earned its place in the culinary and dining experience lexicon. Truly excellent food, at truly moderate prices, served in a truly relaxing atmosphere. I was part of a 35 person dinner reservation for a large party, so wasn't expecting "great or amazing", just hoping everything came out hot and/or cold as appropriate. It did. Clearly the kitchen has timing down to a science. All of the meals were very, very good, and all of the diners enjoyed each and every course. This is NOT easy to do! I was impressed and will make this a regular stop whenever I am in Phoenix. My advice - get there 30-45 minutes before dinner. Relax in the bar - soak in the artwork. Chat with the staff. Appreciate how far the Phoenix has risen in the last 20 years when it comes to the finer things in life. And if its summer - well, be grateful for air conditioning! read more

The bar is very dark and a gathering place for after work on a Friday night. They have a large menu for both bar and food So glad we stopped and gave it a try.
