Special Chicken Noodles with Gio Chào Quay
Jackie H.

Coming to town this time, we decided to try some new places, and Pho Hai Van was our first stop. It did not disappoint! We ordered the Special Chicken Noodles, and the chicken was incredibly tender. The broth was flavorful and perfectly balanced, and the fresh thick noodles were a great touch. The only downside was that the chicken wings were a bit chewy. We also asked for giá trụng (blanched bean sprouts), but they initially brought out regular bean sprouts. However, once we mentioned it, they promptly brought us a fresh plate of blanched bean sprouts, which we appreciated. Other than that, everything was absolutely delicious. We really enjoyed our meal and would gladly come back again. On a side note, the tables and chairs are looking quite worn out and could use some updating. That's just my personal opinion, but I think replacing them would make the dining experience even better.

Nice Pho Ga establishment in the heart of Garden Grove! This family style restaurant has a lot to offer, serving a variety of staple Vietnamese dishes. As per the name, their specialty is Pho Ga, which is rice noodle soup with chicken. We were seated and served relatively quickly. We ordered Pho Ga Dac Biet (Rice Noodles with Chicken, Dac Biet). The broth was nostalgic, warming, and flavorful. The chicken and veggies were pretty standard. Overall, we thought this restaurant served great food but the price was rather steep for its relatively small portion size. Would recommend to those in the area looking for solid Pho Ga!

1. The pho had good broth and chicken! I love that I can have the chicken cooked an on the side! 2. The spot has fun casual vibes! The interior is cozy! 3. The staff was friendly and timely with my order! They have a robot server! 4. The spot only has indoor seatings! There are a lot of tables! 5. Lot has a lot of parking! Nearby parking can get crowded depending on time and day! Note: There is a restroom available for customers! Photo: Pho Ga Combo and Vietnamese Iced Coffee

The best chicken noodle soup in OC. Service was great as usual. I love this place. I got the rice noodles soup with chicken combo and it literally healed my sickness.

Food is good and authentic just the right size serving. We ordered Pho rare steak and crispy fired chicken with crispy skin my son loved it. We got seated fast on a Saturday night dinner. Fast service. Music is nice instrumental medley a good family style restaurant where you can savor delicious meals and good vibes.

Came into town for New Years wanted to try this place with my daughter since we were close to this place. Good here is very good. We ordered pho chicken combo( pho ga đặc biệt) ít was very good the noodle and broth in a bowl and the chicken was on the side with a separate small bowl of fish sauce and ginger to dip the chicken. Service was good didn't have a wait at all. Theres alittle robot brings out a tray with your entree instead of a real person. Thought it was cool about it. I haven't been to any restaurant that has this before. Ambience here , it was close to corner , was easy to find, inside is alittle small but food here is good.

Tasty and homestyle cooking! The menu is simple yet diverse to accommodate any type of cravings. I visited late at night and was able to get seated right away. From egg rolls to glass noodle pho and beef pho, their menu had everything we were looking forward to eat. Food service was also very quick. Thank you so much to the staff and robot server who made our dining experience delish!! Come visit open til midnight.

Good food. Sauce was tasty. Added the chicken innards which was good if you are into it. They were kind enough to add more hear/gizzard instead of liver. Food comes out fast too!

Had the mien ga (glass noodle chicken soup) Serving size of meats 3/5 Broth taste 5/5 for chicken soup! Condiment station - stocked and has fresh ground pepper corns which are grinded by the electronic device. Neat seeing the robot coming out with the goods. Wouldn't recommend their beef pho as the broth was a bit lacking.

Second time here. I can't get enough of this place. The flavor is good. Clean broth. GREAT family restaurant and the best part is it's open late!!! Stopped by on a rainy day. It's like mamas home cooking.

Consistently delicious! Favorite restaurant to get Pho Ga. I order the Dac Biet. I'm left feeling satisfied and full.

The glass noodle combo with a side of young egg, is my go to. This place is always consistent in quality and service. My favorite chicken soup spot. Even for togos, the portions and quality is good.

I got the beef tofu soup 5/5 at mild spiciness and it was just as good as I remembered. We also got bulgogi which was flavorful and tasty 5/5. We got Galbi as well, but the meat was a bit burnt and didn't taste as good 3.5/5. Dinner rush was pretty busy. There was a bit of a mix up in terms of our order. There were some confusions as the staff tried to sort it out. In the end, they charged us for the right item and everything was fixed. So no complaints here and I'd still go back when I'm craving tofu soup.

The sides just taste so much fresher here and the service is always phenomenal My favorite is the beef dumpling soup medium, the soup has just the right amount of spice and flavor without being overly salty. Galbi here is more so hit than miss but occasionally it will be a tad bit fattier than my liking. For the most part the last 3 visits I've had superb cuts and have devoured every bite. Whether you're hungover, cold, or craving something spicy, kaju will always be my safe space. Walking in, it's always bustling with people but the wait usually isn't long given their online yelp waitlist. You'll find Korean mothers walking around serving you or refilling your sides (my favorite part) which gives it a very homey aesthetic. I'd imagine a lot of restaurants are like this back in Korea. Overall 5/5 but please don't all come at once, I hate waiting

I appreciate that they put the noodles separately from the soup as not to make them all mushy and absorb all the soup. Beef bulgogi 4/5 My kid really enjoyed it. Almost finished the whole meal alone. Also came with purple rice. Both dishes came with 4 banchan. This is where I was surprised by. Out of the 4 items Kimchi 2/5 Soy bean spicy 1.5/5 Mashed potato 4.5/5 Fish cake 2/5 We only enjoyed the potato. I am a huge fan of fish cake and kimchi but these 2 were not my favorite. There's a flavor on it I'm not used to. Idk if it's a different sesame oil or what. But we just didn't enjoy them. Overall without the banchan we would give it a 4/5 With banchan 3/5

Luckily our friend had put our name down quickly and we were seated upon the rest of our party's arrival within 15 ish minutes. Now that I've tried the food, felt the service, and enjoyed our meal, I can see why it has a line and a high star rating! The service: super friends and accommodating! The place itself is a small/medium size with lots of tables for seating multiple small/medium sizes of parties. We were a party of 5 (4 adults, one baby/toddler with a high chair). I loved how they accommodated my child with their children's menu in addition to providing us with scissors to cut up noodles. Upon stating our allergies, they helped us with food suggestions and limitations. It's honestly the little things that go above and beyond, as well as their friendly service. They weren't overtly checking up on us, and had just the right amount of interaction and help. Food: 3 of us got the beef belly pho and one got the beef rib, my son got a kids mean. Upon receiving our bowls you'd think by looking at the clarity of the broth that it wouldn't be super flavorful, but it absolutely was. It's not overpowering, but the right amount of savory with a hint of sweetness from the added o green onions. Each pho came with the garnishes of basil, lime, and bean sprouts as normal. We did have to ask for small side plates For those who wanted hoisin and sriracha on the side, but not a big deal and quick to get. I'm also a huge fan of the lychee lemonade at vox, which they had here. Not refillable, but still loved it! My son got their chicken nuggets with fries since the pho broth had some sesame oil which he's allergic to, but he loved it. It came in the cutest kid "happy meal" type of box and we used the scissors given to cut the nuggets and a few "washed" noodles. Overall, would love to come again for a great bowl of pho if the wait isn't too long!

The food was solid, but the service was pretty much nonexistent. The staff wasn't very friendly or attentive, although that's honestly something I've come to expect at a lot of places in Westminster. One thing that really stood out, though, was the condiment station. The chili oil, fresh chilies, and sauces looked dirty, and after tables were cleaned, the serving spoons and sauce dishes weren't replaced. I actually had to grab them from another table myself. Overall, I'd come back for the food because it was genuinely good, but the service and overall atmosphere could definitely use some improvement.

Long time diner, first time reviewer…read more I've always loved Grandpa's Kitchen, maybe because of the sweet name that makes me think of my own grandpa. They have one of the best egg noodle soups around. The broth is perfectly balanced and well seasoned, the egg noodle is well made, with generous toppings. The dry version of the egg noodle is equally delicious. You can't go wrong with either selection. I'm always surprised at their affordable prices. These days you can't really get a good bowl of noodle soup for under $18-$20. Here you can get a solid bowl for just $8 during happy hour! Whaaat?! Crazy! That is such a great price that I almost feel like I'm robbing them. LOL. During this recent visit, I wasn't too hungry so I just got a small bowl of wonton soup for just $7. It comes with 5 pieces of wontons. The only disappointing thing was that it doesn't come with one of my favorite toppings - tóc mỡ. It would've cost $2 to add it. I really wish they did include it. I also got some grilled pork skewers. Though a little soft, they were pretty delicious - nicely seasoned, flavorful, and make a great appetizer. I also love that they're open late - till 11PM!

Service chill, can pay at register in the front, like typical viet restaraunt where they kinda leave you to it. The Grandpa's noodles was good (a dryer noodle), great portion, meat was tender, the radish cube looking things was crispy bits of pork skin. The menu is unique here and mostly in vietnamese. I think I had wished for some sauce to go with the noodles (but I understand its mostly with the soup on the side), good tightness of the meatballs :D... They have the classic condiments on the side, the pickled garlic isn't very crunchy and kind of on the sweet side, the pickled chili does have that slight acidic kick that works well. I modified my noodle to egg for a dollar. The soup was good, on the more umami soy/beef side than clear. The wontons were abundant too, instead of a chili oil the sauce is more like a tangy sweet chili vinegrette thing. My accompaniment got a garlic noodle soup (fried garlic oil) that was rich and also in a huge bowl. For the price and portion its a hidden gem for someone who needs to feed a family. Not like gourmet, but good enough! Omg, also I missed the corn milk :((
