UGH; where to begin? This was one of the few places close to the Kipps Bay movie theater so we decided to try it. We should have know better when a restaurant tries to do Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese on the same menu! There's no restaurant that can really perfect pan Asian cuisine. Phoshime has a good mix of Japanese and Vietnamese menu items - their Banh Mi is pretty good and their sushi is decent. I order directly from their website as opposed to Grubhub or any other third party app because the prices are a bit cheaper if you order direct. The Appetizer Platter ($15) is a good mix of everything - one of each of the vegetable spring roll, Vietnamese meat spring roll, chicken and beef satay, and sugar cane shrimp. The worst thing on their menu is definitely the calamari - it was overly oily; I tried to air fry it to make it crispy again but the amount of oil that seeped out was disgusting that I threw the entire thing out (the calamari also didn't taste fresh). Came on a Monday night after work, wasn't too busy. Very cozy and comfortable. Ordered the short rib pho! The short rib came out on a separate plate and it was huge! It was so fatty, lean and well seasoned. The broth was rich, flavorful and piping hot! Highly recommend the short rib pho! 5 stars for the food, but I removed a star due to service. We were seated quickly and received our food at a reasonable speed, but I was really put off by the attitude of our server, Ashley. Maybe it was just an off day for her, but she was very curt with us and also told us there were no bean sprouts in the summer rolls when the menu said that there were and the summer rolls indeed came with bean sprouts (someone in our party has an allergy). The shrimp summer rolls were really good, some of the best I've had in the city (large size and had a lot of noodles). I liked my vegan pho dish as well (good amount of vegetables). I have to be completely honest... I still dream of this pho. I'm hoping to find some as good in my local area. Walking by, you could almost miss this place. I stumbled across this restaurant while looking for food in New York. They had a sign outside for their buy one, get one 50% off happy hour from 3-7pm that caught my eye. It wasn't too busy inside so I was able to be seated right away. I chose the sexy roll and spicy girl and spicy crunchy yellowtail roll. I really liked the sexy roll with the spicy Mayo and sweet eel sauce drizzle. They have some really great lunch specials as well that I'd love to come back and try. Pretty good fusion spot that serves both sushi and Vietnamese food. We came in during happy hour on a Thursday and the place was pretty empty. Even without happy hour prices, beers were only $5. During happy hour beers and sushi are both buy one get one half off (as of August 2024). The restaurant was pretty empty when we got there and never really filled up. It doesn't look very big in the front, but the restaurant actually goes pretty deep. As for the food, the sushi is good. The Bo Luc Lac was VERY good. It's $28, which is fairly reasonable for the area. It's basically beef stir fried in a black pepper sauce served with chips and rice on the side. Definitely will return to get this again. read more

Luckily I'm a slow walker so staff was able to catch up and return my card. Food Ordered the honey grilled Porkchops. Good flavor, very tasty. Felt needed additional cooking a bit pink on the inside. This place has one of the best crab rangoons I've tried in NYC! Definitely a must order if you are a fan. The pork banh mi is pretty solid too - I asked for them to put veggies on the side, but unfortunately they didn't comply with my request. The bread is pretty soft and the sandwich reheats pretty well in the microwave. The rice noodle bowl is great - I prefer it over the pho to be honest. The only downside is that the meat is thinly slice so you aren't getting as much protein as other places. I did get the chicken so maybe it would differ if I got beef or pork instead. Also wish there was an option to add an egg roll with the bowl for some more filling, but their online ordering platform only allowed me to choose either a protein or an egg roll. I haven't tried the Japanese food here yet, but if you are craving Vietnamese food, this place is a good option without having to go to Chinatown or Brooklyn. read more

I had a takeout order for lunch. Their Pho was amazing and it didn't have a long wait time.

I went here on a Friday night as a walk in with my friend and did not have to wait too long for a table. My friend got a thai iced tea to drink and it was made well! Strong tea taste and just the right amount of sweetness. We got the sashimi for two and got two specialty rolls for $26. For the two speciality rolls, we chose the volcano roll and the special naruto roll. The special naruto roll was refreshing since the fish is wrapped in cucumber. The volcano roll was also pretty good. However, we were not impressed by the sashimi for two. There were a few pieces that were just too fishy -- to the point where my friend could not eat it. If you are a sushi lover, the quality is just not up to par. I think I only enjoyed the salmon sashimi but overall, I was left pretty disappointed. The service and ambiance was fine, but nothing to rave about. I sort of regret not ordering a pho instead and if I were to come back, I would try one of their Vietnamese dishes. read more

Their pho tasted super clear and not artificial (some places use just powders or some kind of sauce to mimic the depth of the broth which makes it super salty and bad, but the pho here tasted nice!) The staff was super attentive and friendly. We had spring rolls, sushi, pad Thai and mochi. Everything was SO delicious! We were only sad that we don't live there so we could go back weekly! The only thing I would change for next time is to sit in the back of the restaurant. When we were leaving we walked back to use the bathroom and they have the MOST ADORABLE decor in the back!
