We have a love/hate relationship with this place. Crazy expensive for fast food but the chicken pita and shakes are absolutely the best. Yes, the other reviews are true. They do put lettuce on their gyros - which makes little to no sense. However, bc lettuce doesn't have much of a taste, it honestly didn't throw anything off. It just doesn't seem right. Lol. I'm more dismayed by the lack of onions and tomatoes. They're so small you can't even see them in my picture. The ambiance is really large and spacious. They have fun pictures of entertainers on the wall. So that's cool. The biggest offense though is the prices. The pricing is offensively expensive for a greasy spoon. As a native Chicagoan, I get so turned off when I come to the suburbs and they're charging $10.50 for the same gyro I can get in the city for $6 - and it's smaller! $4 for fries. $1 for a side of cheese. I had a $10 gift card and I still ended up paying $6 out of pocket, and that didn't include a drink. I wanted a shake, but there was no way I was going to pay $10 for it. The food is tasty. Giving Photos a 3/5 feels like it should be a crime but after haven't eating here in a couple years, I was really craving a chicken pita, one of the best in town. Unfortunately a chicken pita, fries and a small drink came out to $22. There is a lot of hate on here for Photo's, and it is understandable. This is a unique place that does business a little differently than other places. Once you understand how everything works, you start to like it a lot more. First off, the food. The food here is pretty good. I really like their grilled chicken, it has a ton of flavor, and when you get it on a pita, for instance, they don't skimp on the amount of chicken. Burgers are good, hotdogs are great, especially considering they don't use Vienna Beef. Was very impressed by the hotdog. Food here is a solid 7/10. Interior is quite nice, lots of photos to look at, very eclectic, nice and clean. Free ice cream (with purchase) is also available inside. Drive thru here is pretty quick, a nice bonus. Now let's get to what a lot of people take issue with, the price. Photo's is overpriced if you just order off the menu, and I think this is by design. Some people don't care. To some, it's not too much. And Photo's wants them to pay full price. For everyone else, you need to take advantage of Photo's deals. They frequently have all kinds of promotions. For example, with every order, they give you a card for a free hotdog with purchase. This means you get a free hotdog on every return visit as they will keep giving you the card each time. There are many signs around mentioning their promos. You can also ask the employees (which seem to be friendly in my experience) what promos they have currently. There are some that are not advertised. As long as you know this, you can eat here regularly for a very reasonable price. All in all, if you are price conscious (like me), ask the employee what promos they have, and bring your free hotdog card with. Glad to have it near one of my frequent routes. read more

A stereotypical suburban hotdog joint that also has burgers and chicken sandwiches. Food is pretty standand. Prices are a little on the high side for the quality of the food. Advertised specials are very misleading, as many of them are during certain hours but not advertised as such outside. Based on prior experiences Photos is a great little restaurant. Their hot dogs are delicious and the place can be a quiet getaway from the normal bustle of restaurants if you time your visit right. The early afternoon on workdays is a great off peak time to visit for a quiet dine. Their Girl Scout cookie thin mint shakes are a limited time delicacy that you must get hands on if you see the sign outside. While it doesn't look impressive from outside inside it's a step into the past of photography and videography. Old film photo and video cameras are everywhere, it's a free visit to a camera museum stepping into this restaurant. They also have tons of photographs and rare artwork from the 60s & 70s Next time you drive by it, if you're hungry for a good hot dog, definitely pull in and go inside. This is great when you're in a pinch. I had a gyros sandwich and cheese curds. I ordered through the drive through during COVID and they were fast and efficient. I actually needed some time to look at the menu, and so I was impressed that they weren't rushing me. It's a 4 star because it's a bit overpriced. I paid about $8 for a gyros sandwich and didn't receive any fries or anything like that. Now, they do have BOGO Gyros, but I don't need two gyros sandwiches. However that's a god deal, just be prepared to purchase fries. I also purchased cheese curds, which were pretty good, but another $5 or so (ok I won't complain about the price there). They gyros sauce is different, they put some sort of greens mixed with the Tatziki, like a cilantro or parsley. It was very good and I enjoyed my sandwich. Good quality meat. Honestly, I hate to have to write such a bad review for this place, but do not go here anymore. Yesterday we got our cheeseburgers with MOLDY buns! There was mold all over the cheeseburger buns, it was so gross. I tried to call and speak with a manager to get a refund and they said they were too busy and understaffed, so someone would have to call me back.
