Very nice people. I've only ever gone through the drive thru or gotten take out. I've been three times and man it's good. Tried the steak rice bowl the other day and was impressed by the flavor and portion. Next time I tried the sand beef but instead of the bowl I got the tacos. I'm nit sure what they make the tortillas out of but they are so good and thick. Also the tacos come with the same amount of beef so I think that might be my go to order now. Also the fresh watermelon juice is delicious!
I drove an hour and a half specifically to try Pho Wheels after seeing it featured on the Peeks 100 YouTube channel. Based on the review, photos, and restaurant advertising, I expected a premium bowl of pho that would justify both the drive and the price. Instead, I left feeling like I had been robbed of $30 and three hours of my time. I ordered the Supreme Pho, which includes eye round steak, brisket, meatballs, shank, tendon, and oxtail. I've eaten pho all over the DMV region, and this was easily one of the most disappointing bowls I've had--regardless of price. The fact that it ended up costing nearly $30 made it even worse. The nickel-and-diming started almost immediately. Want noodles? Another $0.50. Want chili oil? Another $2. Want additional vegetables? That's another upcharge as well. The problem is that what Pho Wheels considers "extra vegetables" would basically bring the bowl up to the normal amount of vegetables and accompaniments that most pho restaurants already give you with your order. The standard portion here was extremely skimpy. At this price point, customers shouldn't have to keep paying additional charges just to turn the bowl into what would be considered a normal serving of pho elsewhere. For nearly $30, I shouldn't feel like I'm ordering pho à la carte. The portion of meat was plentiful, but that unfortunately didn't mean it was good. I found myself pulling huge hunks of fat out of my bowl. This wasn't tendon--it appeared to be large pieces of untrimmed fat from the oxtail. The actual oxtail itself was also nowhere near as large or impressive as the pieces shown in the restaurant's promotional pictures. Then there's the advertised Dino Beef Rib. Their website showed it as "out of stock," so I asked about it when I arrived. I was told that the Dino Rib was actually just a promotion and that they no longer offer it. Yet the restaurant was still displaying signage advertising it. If you no longer sell something, take down the advertising. Showing customers pictures of an impressive Dino Rib, listing it online as though it's simply temporarily unavailable, and then telling them in person that you don't actually offer it anymore feels misleading. The restaurant was basically empty when I arrived aside from one other couple. The employees themselves were friendly, but the operation seemed disorganized. They were initially about to give me my pho without any of the protein I ordered. Thankfully, another employee stopped and double-checked the order, realized the meat was missing, and even commented about how confusing the order was. But the biggest problem--and ultimately the reason I wouldn't return--was the broth. Great pho lives or dies by its broth. It should be rich, aromatic, savory, and deeply beefy. This tasted like none of those things. The broth was watery, bland, underseasoned, and almost completely lacking in depth. It tasted like it was missing salt and the rich beef-fat flavor that gives a good pho broth its body and character. The meat itself wasn't particularly flavorful either. Once I added the $2 chili oil, the spice from the chili oil became basically the only thing I could taste. I'm not exaggerating when I say I've had better pho from grocery stores--the refrigerated or packaged bowls where you literally add water and microwave them. That's a pretty brutal comparison for a restaurant charging close to $30 for a bowl. And that's what makes the price here so difficult to justify when you compare Pho Wheels with other restaurants in the DMV. Phoxotic in DC serves a bowl with Dino rib, brisket, and shank for around $25. They make their noodles in-house, give you a generous amount of vegetables and accompaniments, and their broth is packed with flavor. You're actually getting a premium product--and there isn't an upcharge every time you want something that normally comes with pho. Pho 88 in Beltsville doesn't have the Dino rib, but I've had flavorful, satisfying bowls there for around $16. You get the noodles, vegetables, accompaniments, and flavor you expect without being nickel-and-dimed for everything. Neither restaurant makes you feel like you have to keep paying extra just to complete your bowl. That's why spending nearly $30 at Pho Wheels felt like robbery. I paid significantly more than I do at other pho restaurants and somehow received less where it actually mattered: flavor, quality, accompaniments, and overall value. A giant bowl doesn't automatically make something premium. If you're going to charge premium prices for pho, then the broth needs to be exceptional, the meat should be properly prepared and trimmed, the vegetables shouldn't require another upcharge just to get a normal portion, and what customers receive should reasonably resemble what's being advertised. After driving 1.5 hours each way, I ended up with a massive bowl of watery broth, bland meat, noodles, and chunks of fat that I didn't even want to finish.
I finally got to try Phowheels and am already planning my next experience. Upon arrival I was mesmerized by all art on the wall. It looks so good! You can read it promptly and assist it when we were trying to order. The people at the counter were awesome. They told us some of their favorites and explain the dishes to us. We got oxtail pho and shaky beef tacos. The pho wasn't my favorite but it was still pretty tasty. The shaky beef tacos however, were phenomenal and something I would definitely get again. In fact I almost took some home! Great location with great parking and really cool art. The food is incredible and I can't wait to try more!
The food truck happened to be at brookside garden. We tried 1 of their specials. It is the malaysian roti canai as taco shells. It was nice but I wished they put pickled veg,red onion,cilantro to add flavor to the dish.
Phonomenal taste. Exciting options. Buttt when I got my order, the noodles were overcooked and soaked up all the broth so there wasn't enough soup :(. But the flavor was rich and decent amount of meat, just the texture sucked. I would definitely want to order it again but so sad I hate soggy noodles.
I ordered the oxtail fries and they were delicious!! They did not skimp on the oxtail at all and the meat had really good flavor. All the toppings on the fries complemented each other well. The service was regular. I like the graffiti ambiance and there was a decent amount of seating inside.
Finally tried this place after passing it for a while . I gave into the slightly expensive menu and got the OxTail pho with spring rolls and a viet drink . Everything I got was almost $50; definitely more pricey than your typical pho spot but it's modern so I guess I get the hype... Staff were friendly and welcoming and it was relatively busy during Wednesday lunchtime. I like that they were playing Spanish music as it fits nicely with the Asian-Latin fusion menu that looks mouthwatering. Now onto the food! Oxtail pho: Piping hot , this was A LOT of food !! Tbh for the price I'm glad it's a lot lol. The pho itself was pretty good. Noodles were nice and soft but the broth was more aromatic than savory. Spring rolls (pork and shrimp): idk why they call them spring rolls when most spots call these summer rolls! Anyway , this was also a lot of food ; 3 huge rolls wrapped in plastic wrap . It was like unwrapping a beautifully wrapped gift and the peanut sauce was FIRE. Vinut drink(sugarcane & calamansi): I wanted to venture out and try something new . It wasn't too bad either but I think I would've liked the mango flavor better. Overall, this place seems to be more in favor of the take out experience over the dine in experience. I wish they'd have actual bowls and utensils we could use for dine in as I think it actually changes the experience and taste a lot. I also wish they'd give more than 3 jalapeño slice and one single lime slice as pho sides... hence the 4 stars... on the bright side, I had so much food for the price I paid so that's good bc I literally can have another one or two meals with the rest ! I would definitely come back to try the other items on their menu bc they look so mf goooood !
Friendly service and a drive-thru! I have been following Phowheels for the past few years, first trying them in their food truck in Friendship Heights. I was excited to see they opened a Brick + Mortar store in Burtonsville. The signage is great, very creative with nods to the local area. When I walked inside, I was greeted right away and had friendly service at the cash register. I ordered the honey garlic wings, and the pork belly on bahn mi. The wings were very crispy and came with a coconut ranch which was delicious. I would've liked a little bit more flavor/spice for my wings, but they were good. The pork belly bahn mi was good, fresh roll, and they accommodated me by putting the garlic aïoli on the side. They have tables and chairs outside by the drive-thru, which was nice to sit outside. Plenty of free parking in the Burtonsville Crossing parking lot. My one piece of feedback is that the bathrooms could use a deep clean. The floors were very dirty.
I'm so glad we found this place! They serve unique Vietnamese street food with a creative twist. We ordered the pho cheesesteak bánh mì and the chicken bánh mì, and both were packed with flavor. The cheesesteak had that signature pho-spiced taste and an amazing cheese pull. They also offer rice bowls and pho noodle soups. Ordering is simple -- you place your order at the counter and pick it up when it's ready. The service was fast and friendly, and the whole experience was great. We'll definitely be back!
Pho Wheels in three words... I. Modern II. Extraordinary III. Delicious From the outside aesthetic to the drive-through this place is nothing like mini have seen or tasted it before. The service is impeccable. The food is delicious and goes beyond your normal Vietnamese place. I'm talking wings not your normal cheesesteaks and of course Pho, AND so much more. I could go on and on about this place, but I'd rather not I'd rather jump in my car and go back there to order another meal. It's very good! You'd either eat it all and be stuffed, or have a lot leftover because the serving sizes are generous! I can't wait to go back.
I had a great experience with the Phowheels team! We went through the drive through and the staff member we spoke to was super extroverted and welcoming. She took the time to answer all of our questions about the menu and made recommendations. I ordered the fried veggie eggrolls and the oxtail cheesesteak. I loved the egg roll (crispy and standard flavor), but was not a huge fan of the cheesesteak. The cheese was mild and super creamy, which I am not a big fan of on sandwiches. That was totally my mistake while ordering; I should have considered the type of cheese used. I think I would have enjoyed the banh mirria way more, and intend to try it next time. Outside of the cheese, the cheesesteak was a good portion size and they didn't skimp on the meat. The broth was tasty and savory (but not overly salty). Although the cheesesteak may not have been my preference, my family loved it. I definitely need to try a few more items on their menu to solidify my opinion, but overall the restaurant is a great vibe and a unique addition to the area.
I remember when Phowheels started as a food truck and I would make sure I stalked their social media to find out where they would be for the day. I'm so proud of the owners and happy they have yet another brick and mortar location! Their phô is definitely in my top 5. I usually order the oxtail phô or the brisket. The broth is light and aromatic -- very comforting. The rice noodles are cooked perfectly. Let's talk about the oxtail, shall we? So tender and flavorful! I like to order take-out so I can get down the way I want lol. The inside is relatively small, and on a cold night, you may not find a seat! Definitely check them out! Cheers!
Besides being the first Vietnamese food drive-thru in MD, Phowheels has one of the most unique menus I've seen - and so many oxtail dishes! This is Vietnamese street food and they've made some bold twist to classic dishes - I especially like their "bo-khirria" items, which is a twist on Birria beef, which is dipped into their savory Vietnamese beef stew (bo kho broth). Their fusion tacos were also tasty and the Shaky Beef Rice Bowl was marinated well. At first it seems a little pricey for a fast-casual type place, but the portions are good and the freshness of the ingredients are worth it! And you can't beat the super friendly service there with the cute cartoon drawings all around!
Ok tbh I was expecting the most out of world bowl of pho for the price I was paying. It was okay. The service was great, the staff was very attentive. The noodles were flavorful and very filling, but I think that their other menu items might be a little more worth the price tag read more

PhoWheels Burtonsville is amazing. Everything from the people/service, to the food/flavors, and the location/outstanding artwork inside and outside, it hits on all marks. This spot is hands down one of the best in area, and it will only get better. Go check them out ASAP! BIG Congratulations to PhoWheels on opening up their new shop at Burtonsville Crossing here in Maryland! They're one of the most well-known food trucks in the DMV, and their food HITS every single time. Here's all that I got: Eye Round Steak Pho Oxtail Cheesesteak Banh Mi Saigon Spring Rolls Thai Tea There's a reason PhoWheels is at every big food fest in the DMV, the modern take on Vietnamese food is not only appealing but super tasty! The Oxtail Cheesesteak Sandwich just melts in your mouth, fatty tender oxtail beef with the cheese & savory sauces, is a crazy bite. If you are expecting the quintessential vietnamese cuisine, this is not the place for you. PhoWheels brings a refreshingly new experience on what fusion foods could potentially be. A fusion of all cultures with vietnam at its base, oxtail tacos, loaded banh mi sandwiches, a vietnamese take on poutine. Theres something for everyone. I have had the chance to try their pho, which was really good and the broth extremely tasty, but you are doing yourself a disservice by not trying the other items on the menu. I highly recommend the oxtail tacos, melt in your mouth meat wrapped around a flaky, toasty, taco. Make sure to dip it into the pho broth for a heightened experience. I ordered the bo-khirria fries which remind me of poutine from canada. The bo-kho, stewed beef, was comforting to enjoy alongside the fries. Phowheels is creating new experiences and opportunies for those who had hesitations about vietnamese foods to come and try this middleground. Im excited for what they cook up next! read more

My husband and I have gone to Pho Wheels in Burtonsville 3x and ordered a carry out meal 1x. Every single time has been a winner!!! On Sunday, my husband ordered the ox-tail Pho and it was fresh and wonderful! Smelled amazing. The ox-tail was tender and flavorful. It included the bones which was great too for the flavor! We also ordered the Brisket Cheesesteak!! All I can say is that it was incredible!!!!! The meat was tender and the cheese, herbs, red onions were chef's KISS The bread was warm, soft and perfect!! I've never had bread like that in any Thai place. It's usually chewy and hard. This was definitely a winner and honestly worth every penny! Not something to eat all of the time due to its rich nature but OMG, it was fabulous and super delicious. Service, quality of food and timeliness of food preparation is outstanding! read more

Ordered 4 items: eye of round pho, ox tail pho, shaky beef banh mi and chicken banh mi. All were tasty but have some general comments. I personally thought the broth was a little salty. We diluted with some hot water and it was fine. The banh mi is also a little salty to me, maybe too much of the Magi soy sauce. But all the food was tasty. The ox tail was really good and the beef was very tender in the sandwich. I like that for carry out they give you the option to order the pho without cooking the noodles. Then you take your soup home, heat it up, and drop it in and your noodles are still chewy and not mush after a 30min car ride! They also give you high quality condiments! Parking is plentiful. Wow! Finally a local restaurant that has some amazing food in the Burtonsville area. I ordered carry out during lunch time and happy that they were open as their grand opening is tomorrow. I ordered the eye round pho, ox tail tacos on roti, birria banh mi and cheesesteak banh mi. All of the food was filling and delicious! Meats were savory, pho soup was still nice and hot when I brought it home, and the tacos were delicious. I'm so excited for this to be a regular spot for Vietnamese food! read more

A Flavorful Stop You Don't Want to Miss Pho-Wheels Vietnamese Street Food Pho-Wheels is more than just a quick bite--it's an experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by friendly and helpful staff who made me feel genuinely welcome. But what really caught my eye was the stunning hand-drawn mural that covers the interior, created by local artist Golden Rabbit Silent Monkey. It's vibrant, detailed, and full of personality--absolutely worth seeing in person. Now let's talk food. I ordered the chicken and shrimp Saigon Egg Rolls and wow--so bomb. Perfectly crisp on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside, and served with a Nuac cham sauce that hit all the right notes--savory, tangy, and just the right balance. I also grabbed a cinnamon roll to go SOO GOOD! They're made by a baker who goes by Matelna Bakes. This cinnamon roll has lots of icing covered in crumbled Biscoff cookies on top. read more

This place is freaking good. I've had the pho wheels food truck in the past, so I was excited to try their new store. No drive thru yet, but I was told it should be up in about a month. They have a good amount of seats inside. Ordering at the counter. The must trys are the oxtail cheesesteak Banh mi and the brisket cheesesteak Banh mi. My first time trying the oxtail Banh mi I was skeptical of the $26 price tag. I assure you it's worth every penny. I've never had anything like it, it's like a bowl of pho in a sandwich. The brisket cheesesteak banh mi is fantastic too. Wings are solid, but they get outshined by the banh mi which is out of this world. Staff are very friendly as well. This place is a legit 10/10. My son and I made it after a much anticipated grand opening. We happened by the night before grand opening and were turned away as it was a private soft opening. We returned for the grand opening but had to abort our place in line due to the long wait. However it was so much fun to watch the lion dance and ribbon cutting. We even saw ourselves in the line later from the drone footage covering the opening : ) But after a couple of days, we finally made it back and secured the goods. It was well worth the anticipation and wait. The mural on the wall was so fun to look at while waiting for our food. Will definitely be back. Delicious! read more

Pho Wheels Is a Whole Vibe! Just had an unforgettable first visit to Pho Wheels and let me tell you--it's a 10/10 experience from start to finish! I ordered the Honey Garlic Wings and Oxtail Fries, and whew--the flavor was out of this world. Every bite was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The wings were crispy with a sticky-sweet glaze, and the oxtail was tender and juicy, resting on a bed of crispy fries. And the cherry on top? Every order comes with a side bowl of pho--a warm, savory bonus that brings the whole meal together in the most comforting way. But it didn't stop at the food. I got my order in under 10 minutes, and the owner personally came out and greeted me. I told him straight up--his food is phenomenal. You can tell this place is built on passion, flavor, and community. The customer service was top tier, and the vibe was welcoming from the moment I walked in. Pho Wheels is a beautiful fusion of Vietnamese street food, American flavor, and Caribbean soul--and it's officially my new go-to. I'll be back again and again. read more

I came here with high expectations due to the hype, but I will say it was a bit disappointing for myself. The pho was not good at all. The only thing good about the banh mi was the bread itself when fresh. I wasn't a fan of some of the fusion items like the birria banh mi and cheesesteak banh mi. Service was fine, but they did run out of a few things when I was there. The overall flavors were not very authentic to Vietnamese cuisine. read more

Do you want pho? Could you drive north on Rt. 29 12~15 minutes and get Pho La Cay instead? No? Well then, I have bad news for you. Pho Wheels is cute when you get it from the truck. But when you get it here at the brick and mortar joint, you will be disappointed. (Btw, I've tried their Crystal City location, which is better, but not by much) Love the decor. But the server didn't look like I was welcome. The pho... the broth is meh at best, watery at worst. It comes out in a tall paper bowl. The temperature of the broth is high, which is good. But because the bowl is narrow and tall you cannot switch the position of the noodles from the bottom to top. As some of you might know, some pho places give you raw eye of round slices. When you put the meat in the broth, it can be pushed down to the bottom if you want it cooked more. 1. At Pho Wheels, due to the shape of the bowl, the noodles will be stuck at the bottom and become overcooked. A mushy mess. 2. They put the bean sprouts already in the soup. They assume I will eat the bean sprouts in the soup. Bean sprouts have a very distinct flavor, which can distract from the pho broth. I eat it separately similar to pickled ginger and sushi. (On the other hand, sometimes I eat Bún bò Huế with the bean sprouts in the broth because of stronger flavor profiles) 3. No sauce bottles. You need to ask for extra sriracha and hoisin sauce packets. They will give you two packets at a time. And the server will give you the dirty eye. 4. For some it might be worth it. But supreme pho, which comes with all the beef cuts they have including oxtail (tripe and tendons not available (sigh), and some of their meat is gamey (yuck) which is a big NO NO, and the broth does nothing to mitigate this issue), is (drum roll....) $25 before tax. Seriously, why spend more and get less? Why not make a weekend trip to Eden Center? Or take the Orange/Silver Line to Pho 75 in Rosslyn? Well, because they are far. But Pho La Cay or An Loi/Pho Dat Thanh are close enough. Adding one star because the rice dish is way better than the pho. Maybe the place should be called Cơm phần Wheels? But it doesn't have the same ring to it. read more

Amazing experience all around. The service was quick and incredibly friendly, which made the visit even better. The Vietnamese iced tea is to die for and an absolute must-order. It's hard to find truly authentic Vietnamese food in this area, but this place absolutely nails it. The roti tacos are hands-down delicious, and with such a wide variety of menu options, there's always something for everyone read more
