I enjoyed Piadina, but wished I had loved it. It's so nice to enjoy a good sandwich on something other than the typical baguette or hoagie, but that's about the only thing that really sets it apart. The bread is sort of like a unique, thicker version of a quesadilla, warm and crisp. Service was friendly and I loved the design of the store itself. I tried the Californian #8 and finished most of the hearty portion, but something was missing for me to truly crave this place again. I'd been trying to get to this sandwich shop for a while and I'm glad I finally did. It's in a very busy shopping mall and parking during lunch is a bear but it was worth the headache. I ordered on of the specials with speck, smoked mozzarella, tomatoes and arugula. I love the bread (seems more like thin pizza crust). It was a little dry, but it reminded me of some of the sandwiches I enjoyed in Italy which showcase the ingredients rather than the dressings. It is definitely big enough to share. When I first browsed around their photos on Yelp they looked super bland and ordinary to me and I thought to myself this was just another sandwich joint suitable for lunch. Boy was I wrong about that. These piadinas were true to the Italian core and reminded me of my stay in Italy - they were not overloaded with cheese, cream and sauce in contrary to most other so-called, stereotypical Italian restaurants in town. I love a good and new sandwich spot, so I was really excited when I saw that Piadina was opening up in the Tustin Marketplace. I went for the first time knowing nothing, so when I saw that the sandwiches were actually on Piadina (a unique Italian flatbread), I was so excited! I had never had anything like it before. First time here. Perfect crisp and blend of flavors. I'd definitely come back for a quick bite. A side salad and sandwhich is just right. I'm curious about their other salads though. I wish they could offer a salad/sandwich combo, but i can understand you can't "half-order" the sandwiches because of how it's made and the size of their "side salad" bowl isn't large enough to fit their specialty salads. It's not full 5 star only for that reason.Getting a sandwich AND specialty salad would just be too much, but not too much to share with a date! Oh and their latte is good too. Delicious! I had the #12 Caprese with ham added as the protein. (Optional) The sandwich was a true flavor explosion and so delicious. Crispy flat bread that was so fresh. The cashier was Marilyn and I must say that her smile lit up the place and she was so incredibly nice! Felt like I was just being welcomed into her very own kitchen. It's very different, authentic, and healthy with great customer service and delicious light food. The ambience is pretty nice as well. What won me over is how fresh everything tasted and it's a good change of pace from all of the chains that are everywhere even the drinks are freshly made and different from most locations it's definitely worth at least a try. It is a bit bland like what others have said in their reviews, but that's what I like especially bc it doesn't leave you feeling heavy. If you like quick and simple with good sized portions, this is the place to go! Walked by and thought I'd grab a menu, as I wasn't really hungry and it was late. Walking in, I could smell the hint of toasted bread and pesto, so my appetite came back. The place was sparkling clean, deserted with nice music. I was greeted and after a few suggestions from the staff, I ordered the California chicken sandwich. It was quickly made and packaged in a thick cardboard box to go. I barely got to the car and the smell was too tempting. The sandwich was quite large, could feed two. Tasted sublime. The piadina style bread looks like a thin pizza wrap with the buttery texture of a flaky pasty roll. And that was just the bread. Lordy! Amazing! I will definitely be coming back soon.
