We went to a movie in Sebastopol and wanted to get some Chinese food after the movie, have driven by this place numerous times and we decided to try it out. There were four of us looking forward to a nice meal, and O & C China Bistro did not disappoint. First of all the restaurant is run by one of the nicest families you have ever met. Our waitress was Claire, the daughter of the owner, and she was a sweetheart! Took our order, shared what she knew and what she had to research. Loved that she was able to put the order in via a computer as we talked and we actually got some of our food BEFORE she was finished taking our order!!! There were four of us in our party and we ordered Hot and Sour soup (one order was plenty for us), egg rolls, pot stickers, Vegi Chow main, Walnut Shrimp, Sesame Chicken, Mu Shu pork and Sebastopol Eggplant with Tofu. Everything was PERFECT, served hot, with so much food that we had an entire two meals left over to take home. Flavors were spot on, nothing was greasy, everything was fresh and the presentation was spot on. Loved the way this restaurant is put together, it is small and cozy, a nice place to go as a group or to take a date. The service was AMAZING, food kept coming out, one after another dish, our drinks were refilled and we were continually look after to make sure everything was good. I have been here many times and it is absolutely my go to spot for wonton soup, especially when I am not feeling well. There is something about the soup here that truly feels healing. Every time I have it, I feel revived. Beyond the wonton soup, I have tried several dishes and everything has been consistently delicious. Their Sebastopol eggplant tofu dish is excellent, the chicken with green beans is flavorful, and the beef and broccoli is always satisfying. I have also had their hot and sour soup, chicken wings, and dumplings, and I can honestly say the quality across the board is outstanding. You can really tell the vegetables are fresh and the food is made with care. We even rented out their main space for our son's baptism, and it was a complete success. Our experience was smooth, and it meant so much to us to celebrate such a special moment there. I am genuinely happy we are local to them. Ate our food in the car , then this guy comes out and starts yelling saying we can't park there because we are disturbing his customers. What customers ?? I usually love this place and still do. Tonight I came to order Wor WonTon Soup and Mu Shu Pork. I gotta say it seemed less as delicious as usual. But perhaps it's my state of mind. Our family has been coming here since long before it switched hands. Tonight my food tasted more Japanese than Chinese. Which was a lil disappointing. They have an amazing Japanese Restaurant next door which I absolutely love. But I wanted Chinese food. I like my Mu Shu traditional style. Dry fried not served cooked in a teriyaki style sauce. Typically has scrambled eggs and bamboo shoots but this one doesn't. Usually the food here is quite delicious. It was pretty good but not what I expected. Or more accurately not what my taste buds were set for. I'm sure I'll return and order something else and be much happier. I went ahead and packed it to go. I'll try it tomorrow after I change my thinking about what to eat. lol Ohhh. The manager and chef came over and wanted to know what I was thinking about his food. He is a lovely person. I thought this was a pretty solid Chinese restaurant. The food here is good, the prices are reasonable and the service was fine. I ordered the Cashew Beef, which I thought was tasty and a reasonably sized portion. This dish goes for $17 and they charged me an additional $3.50 for a small side of order of white rice. There were numerous vegetables inside this dish, and they were served only mildly sauteed so they were still a little crunchy. I would have preferred them cooked a little longer, but I realize that this is a matter of taste. If you happen to order this dish and feel the same way as me about how you like your vegetables cooked, you might try making a request to have them cooked longer when you place your order. read more

Quiet, but dined off hours on a Wednesday. Love to have a stir fry option that has al dente veggies and not smothered in some sauce. I had the chicken with snow peas, carrots and shitake mushrooms. Plenty of leftover for lunch tomorrow. The service was attentive and friendly. Nice ambiance for a night out or dining with a group. They have a large variety of wines and sake to choose from. They also have plenty of desserts to choose, which isn't typical of most Asian cuisine restaurants. I had the thousand layer cake. These are crepes layered on top of eachother with cream in between. The menu looks brand new and as lots of helpful photos of the dishes for those who don't read, don't know English or have problems reading menus. Nice touch. I really wanted like this place. We ordered Kung Po Tofu it was so salty we couldn't eat it. The cream puff Rangoon's had a very minimal amount of cream cheese. Vegi Chow Main had very little vegi's in it. We always love left overs when we order Chinese food unfortunately we threw out what we didn't eat. We try to do food adventures when we can to help support the local economy as well as just the fun date experience of trying new foods. On one of those lunch dates, hubby suggested O&C and I was shocked because he literally never recommends Chinese food. Score! When we arrived, we parked in the back lot and made our way to the front. The restaurant is conveniently located off the main thoroughfare of Sebastopol which is great, but can be a real challenge to get in and out of the area due to so many drivers. We were seated in the bar dining area, and looked over the menu. I was immediately intrigued at their appetizers, and decided we needed a few of them in addition to the mains and a dessert. We started with the Taro Buns ($8) and the Shanghai Dumplings/XLB ($10), and then for our meals we ordered the Orange Sesame Tofu lunch with chow mien and hot and sour soup ($11), and the Kung Pao Chicken lunch with fried rice ($12) and upgrade sub the Wonton soup (+$0.50). We ordered the Chestnut cake for dessert, just to round it all out ($6). The taro buns were beautifully fluffy and smelled good but they were really dry inside. The XLB were toothsome but they just really didn't have much soup inside which was sad to me. When the entrees were brought out, they accidently brought me the orange chicken instead of the orange tofu, so they took it back to remake and it was gone for a long time. Hubby absolutely RAVED about his fried rice, which was awesome to hear, and he also loved the soup and the chicken dish. I enjoyed the hot and sour soup, but had to continue to wait for my entree to get back. Once it did arrive, the noodles were cold and the tofu was so hot, I couldn't eat it for some time so that was disappointing. Once it was edible temp, the flavors were good and I enjoyed it. Dessert was a surprise with an interesting take on a Mont Blanc. Hugely impressed they decided to take that on, because it's hard to find other than in specialty bakeries. This one was lovely, with an airy consistency and light flavors. Overall, the food was a solid 4 other than the mix up with the entree, and the somewhat underwhelming appetizers. Good portion sizes, nice ingredient quality, and competitive prices for the Sebastopol area-I would definitely be down to return and order some of their other items to see how they stack up with the ones we've already tried. read more

As a vegetarian, I'd pretty much given up on a lot of the childhood fried favorites. But not here! They have tofu or eggplant variations of things like orange chicken, Szechuan chicken, and loads more. And it's delicious! We have only ordered delivery, so I can't speak on the ambiance or service, but I'd imagine everything is better in house. When you want the Chinese food of your childhood without the actual meat, this is the place. It's ruined all other Chinese spots in Sonoma County for me. read more

I ordered a variety of foods for takeout. Egg rolls, pot stickers, schezuan chicken, sweet & sour pork, Mongolian flank steak, veg chow mein, and jasmine rice. I would have contacted restaurant directly with feedback but there's no email address on their website. Egg rolls very small,not worth $2.50 each. Pot stickers ok. Schezuan chicken not spicy. Pork was under done. Mongolian beef was almost entirely understandable cooked onions. Chow mein was bland. Rice was ok. No soy sauce or fortune cookies included with order. Sorry to say not a good experience and I don't expect much from takeout Chinese food. Hoped for decent portions and flavor and didn't get either. I won't be going back, sad to say, because we desperately need Chinese takeout in West Sonoma county. read more

Now I know COVID has changed things for small restaurant owners and has created a lot of finical issues. My choice to support local small businesses rather then a huge supply chain like In-n-out or Chick-fil-A. (Even though it is WAY MORE AFFORDABLE) The point is if you want to have 2 dinners in one night by all means spend your $$ here. But not me and my family again. I was greeted by a lovely server named Anna and told her I wanted to order take-out. As I was seated up front going over a menu, Anna came by to offer me some water. I thought this was very sweet of her for a take-out order. I ordered the Basil Eggplant and drove home to eat. It was delicious. The vegetables were full of flavor and not overdone. The restaurant was fairly empty and it took our waitress 15 minutes to take our order. Everything was too salty. Our hot and sour soup tasted good but was mostly corn starch thickening and had very little ingredients. Screeching children running around was the entertainment. The broccoli and shiitake's would have been better but the sauce was too salty and heavy. The crispy tofu was good and we asked for the sauce on the side which was good because it would have decrisped the tofu with it's heavy glop and been too much sauce.
