Arugula salad with shrimp and Tuscan Kale & White Bean Soup

Wonderful place for dinner with friends, family or colleagues! Our party of ten had a lovely experience with excellent service and a welcoming ambiance. The food was delicious--I tried the arugula salad and the white bean kale soup. The table also enjoyed the generous bread baskets with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Parking was easy and the bathrooms were clean. Worth the visit!

Piatti has been in Mill Valley for a long time and delivers consistent Italian food. It's not especially memorable, but it is authentic and the portions are solid. The pizza is yummy--thin crust with just a little sauce--and the salads are reliably good. The location is convenient, right off the freeway in Mill Valley, which makes it an easy stop. That said, it does feel overpriced for what you get. You have to pay extra for bread, and there's a noticeable push for bottled water. They have an upstairs for private parties and each time I've gone to a party, it's been nice. Overall, dependable but not standout.

01/17/26 - I Stumbled on this restaurant towards the end of my work/vacation trip in California. Besides the perfect location and scenery in the background, the food was inexplicable. I was taken care of promptly and amicably. The drinks were interesting and savory. I don't know what comes first to mind when I think of my time spent in California but this wonderful place always lives in my mind.

Such a cute restaurant with a lot of natural light! We had the pesto pappardelle which was amazing and perfectly flavored especially with the lemon zest. We also got the shrimp scampi, and the polenta paired with it is so delicious.

Stopped by Piatti with family for a quick lunch before heading to Sausalito for the afternoon. Very nice place and we were seated near the water which made it even better. For appetizers, we ordered the bread basket and the assortment was so fun. I ordered the pasta bolognese and it did not disappoint. A bit pricey for a casual lunch but would be fitting for a nice date or special occasion.

Saturday night 2 servers for a busy night in restaurant Wow I hate to write a bad review especially since I've always liked this place but here it goes, I was surprised that Ernesto and Eduardo are not longer the managers of this place now they have a old lady with white hair harrasing the stuff I was sitting by the kitchen watching and listening, I watched her just giving instructions and talking to every single table not doing anything she even followed the server while he was, he had drinks in his tray she told him to bus tables but he was still calm and cheerful. I was so lucky to have him again; he was very cordial, attentive, and spot-on with everything. The food, as usual, was great. My family is from N.Y. Even said to offer him a job but he was so sweet and polite and declined..But I hope management sees this because I love this place and the delicious food they offer here...

One of my favorite Italian restaurants is Piatti. I don't think I've ever been here without ordering their calamari and pizza -- those two are always a must! Everything else on the menu has been consistently delicious too; you really can't go wrong here. We recently tried their brunch, and it was outstanding. The steak and eggs were perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and the blueberry ricotta pancakes were light, fluffy, and absolutely amazing. Piatti continues to deliver great food, friendly service, and a comfortable atmosphere every time. It's one of those spots that never disappoints!

A friend brought me here for a quiet lunch and we had a really good catch up while looking at the serene bay. I had a salmon piccata, with salmon cooked just right, with broccolini and fennel underneath in tart lemon caper sauce. Service was friendly and attentive.

Nestled in the shadow of Mount Tamalpias, Piatti serves up some deeply satisfying Italian food in a setting that's modern with traditional design highlights. The staff are attentive, service is accurate, and attention is unobtrusive and friendly. This afternoon we ordered: Zeppole - Italian doughnuts, fennel sugar, lemon curd, blueberry Tasty, similar to begniets, with a subtle fennel dusting. Spicy Sicilian Hash - braised short ribs, potatoes, peppers, 12 mo Parmesan, Calabrian chili, poached egg Unexpectedly delightful flavor profile that's not too spicy and delivers the feeling of a hash but with a brasatto. Worthwhile! Fritto Misto - calamari, lemon, jalapeño, zucchini, olives, anchovy aïoli, marinara The lemons are a showstopper while the olives barely registered. Always a table staple for us. Piatti seems never too disappoint.

Walking in, it looked like a classy dress up place, but casual dress was the norm. Sat at a table in the bar next to the windows which had a lovely view of the marsh. Delicious food and cocktails. Service was a team effort with several staff checking in, taking orders, filling water glasses.

    Our kids loved this place!

I have a similar reaction to La Ginestra. I've come to La Ginestra multiple times, always in advance of a nearby show, for a cocktail or a glass of wine. Usually there's some food ordered to accompany the drinks. Most recently, meatballs and a Margarita pizza were shared between two of us, with neither of us making a single remark about the food either during or after consuming it. It was as good as it needed to be, no more-no less. A 3-star review, every avid yelper will tell you, is the most difficult to pen. Indeed, that is because it generally is a shoulder-shrug. I'm certain I'll come back to La Ginestra for drinks and might actually be the one recommending it. I'll probably also have something small to eat as an accompaniment but only because I'm already here drinking. I do observe that they do a solid restaurant business (I've only ever sat in the room that shares space with the bar) which says something, given the plethora of Italian restaurants in Marin. Based though on the food I've sampled? If I were actually choosing a restaurant to dine at - as opposed to a restaurant to drink at - I've not had anything here that would cause me to choose La Ginestra above even any of the other restaurants near to it.

Once we were seated, we had a great server who was incredibly patient while we decided on our meals. They easily accommodated adjustments to my wife's order when she asked to swap out a creamy sauce for a marinara. We started with the arugula salad, which was delicious and loaded with roasted beets, gorgonzola, glazed walnuts, and a sharp balsamic vinaigrette. For our mains, we went with the Capellini del Diavolo and the Fettuccine Viareggio. Both dishes were absolutely amazing and hit the spot. Penne for Your Thoughts…read more Cal-Italian restaurant in the quaint town of Larkspur that's celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year. Picco blends the best of California with locally sourced and fresh produce with classic and modern takes on Italian dining. They are also Michelin recognized, as they've been Bib Gourmand winners ('21-23) in the past, and are currently "Recommended." The Good: * Reservations via OpenTable * Free street and City-owned lots available but there are time limitations, so check the signage. * They also run a pizzeria (Pizzeria Picco) literally right next door if you'd rather have a pie than pasta. * Outdoor dog-friendly seating * Waitstaff was fantastic and friendly. * Also has a bar if you just want to come in for a drink or three. * Local brews on tap, as well as a full oeuvre of alcoholic beverages. * They're known for their changing seasonal risotto, and after one bite, it was easy to see why! It was simply fantastic, as the rice was cooked perfectly and the fresh spring flavors in ours shone. * Carissa loved her King Salmon and veggies, as the fish was cooked perfectly. I ordered a daily special with house-made pappardelle noodles and smoked beef short ribs, and while it looked like a hot mess, it was fantastic. The noodles were thick and held up well to the assertive smoke and flavor of the beef--just a perfect dish in my opinion.. The Meh: * The Polenta-Crusted Artichoke Hearts appetizer was just OK. I liked the crunch and how they tried to present them as chicken wings, but they ate a little dry and the coating needed more seasoning. Fortunately, their concomitant aioli was able to save the day. The Ugly: * Not the biggest restaurant, and with the brick walls, it can get raucous in there fairly easily, especially if a large post-wedding party shows up to the bar to get sauced. Conclusion: Fantastic spot for a date night or any other occasion with great ambiance, service, and, most importantly, food. Highly recommended.

We had Crostini with a roasted tomato spread, and some olives, it was very underwhelming. The olives had pits in them; they were not a spread. The roasted tomatoes in olive oil were flavorless. I thought the olives would be like a tapenade to spread on the bread. We both had pear salads, which sounded wonderful, but I thought the pears would be thinly sliced perhaps crisp Asian pears, but, they were cooked with a sweet sauce and soft, and then serve served with very sweet red grapes and a sweet pomegranate dressing and sweet candied pecans, even though it was on a bed of Frisse, the salad was too sweet. It was served with a couple little tiny pieces of Gorgonzola cheese that was so soft that I couldn't divide it up to eat it with the rest of the salad, that would've been a better spread for the bread! I had grilled mixed seafood misto that had been fried very lightly.. The swordfish was overcooked and dry and flavorless.. The shrimp and scallops were cooked fine. The salmon was a tiny little piece with a lot of fat streaks in it. The wedges of Yukon gold potatoes were roasted, but were drenched with olive oil. I could only eat the scallops and shrimp. The carrots were so al dente when my husband went to cut them they slid off his plate, I had to nibble on them by hand by the green tips. For dessert, my husband ordered spumoni which was sliced ice cream and very thin slices. Kind of like a bombe. The flavor was really great, but there really wasn't enough to share. I was very disappointed with the food quality and for the price of the wine-- it was marginal. It may have been better it I was served the wine that I ordered. All of this for $200 before tip. Not worth the price. The music was loud, it was set for the staff, I think, not older patrons and families--the ambience just wasn't nice or calm or celebratory for mothers. No special flower was handed out, not a dessert, not a glass of wine, not anything special for Mom. Oh yes, my husband's "special" fillet of sole was dry and was served on the skin. Not good. I was just so disappointed, it was supposed to have been the highlight of my day since my son lives far away, it wasn't.
