Small neighborhood spot, good food and they are very very polite. I am allergic to the lemon and lime so they make my guacamole from scratch for me (I do pay extra for it). it's a hole in the wall with the best damn shredded beef burrito I've ever had. Customer service is fantastic. I was able to customize 3 different menu items without a problem. Definitely a place to get a quick bite. Loved the costumer service first of all, very friendly and helpful, place is really clean. We ordered some al pastor tacos, we made the rite choice. The food is great. I love it, especially the chilaquiles, BOMB! When u order ur food it comes with rice and beans which are really good, exactly how I like them, traditional mexican refried beans and rice. Sometimes Yelp is your best friend and sometimes not so much. This was, unfortunately, one of those times Yelp led me astray. I am in constant pursuit of great Mexican food and since I work in Pasadena, that is the current area of search. This place was a huge fail. I'm fine with little hole in the wall places as long as the food is good but sadly this was not the case. And there was no AC on a 100' plus day! But the food: The chips ( what little they provide) were literally inedible. How do you mess up chips and salsa?? That's a first for me. The taco/ enchilada combo was awful as well - just s big blob on a massive plate with everything swimming in sauce. And for $10+, actually insulting. They seem nice enough but when presented with my untouched food, they either didn't notice or chose not to. I gave it a 4 star rating, because even though it is a legit hole in the wall, in a strip mall, the food is actually really good, and the people who work there are nice. I'm an athlete so sometimes I eat a lot (not always, like when I was younger). My only gripe is that they go super cheap on the amount of delish chips on the side they give you. Not unlimited refills or even enough as a side. When I'm hungry and I actually have the time to sit and eat, (as I am always on the run), I order the shredded chicken wet burrito, fries, and 2 shredded beef tacos, that my personal combo, and it's AMAZING!!!;) I have been to a ton of high and low end restaurants in Pasadena, and I highly recommend this spot. read more

I didn't actually visit the establishment, so I can't speak to its ambiance. But, we ordered a mix of food for ten people for about $75 (so, $7.50 per plate) including enchiladas and chicken fajitas plus rice and refried beans on the side. Even though the owner wasn't prepared to do catering, he still did it--letting us borrow his serving utensils and the metal casserole dishes on the assumption that we would return them to him the following day. Sure, he had our credit card number, but I think this act showed a lot of trust and flexibility that seems rare today. As for the food, I would rate it from 3-3.5 stars. The chicken fajita mix was tasty and good--but could we a little less salty (3.5 stars). The enchiladas were a little less amazing and could stand a more potent cheese--and more of it. I felt as if I was eating more tortilla than I'd like, but otherwise the flavor was good (3 stars). The refried beans were just that--exactly what you would expect from anywhere. The rice was some kind of seasoned yellow rice with some peas and carrots and corn (similar to Cuban) and was good (3 stars). With our order, he gave us tortillas for the fajitas, which were seemingly store bought and just fine. But, the salsa seemed very homemade, as it had separated by the time it got to our table. The red salsa is decent but a bit spicy for my palette, while the green salsa was wonderful--a bit spicy, tangy with lime, flavorful with cilantro... YUM!! I took home a plate of leftovers soaked in it... Bottom line: GREAT green salsa, good food, accommodating service. Go! read more

This place is my favorite for Mexican food in this area. I've been here several times for lunch. If I lived in the area this would be my regular joint. Aguas frescas, costillitas de puerco (the meat just melts off the bone), caldo de pescado, tortas (pollo asado is delicious), & tacos too. They do home style cooking. The food is tasty. I love this place. They have great carne asada burritos. They don't put too much asada, but the flavor of the beans and rice make up for the somewhat small amount of meat. The chips are sometimes stale, but they come free with a burrito, so I don't complain too much. They have great service as well. read more

I guess this place is hit or miss, because the last time I went there, the carne asada had massive rubbery ass cartilage on it, and that shit makes me gag... This is an inexpensive but standard strip mall mexican. Service is fine and staff is friendly and reasonably fast. -1 star because of lack of AC or even a Fan during hot weather. Food is so average that you can ignore any 5 star reviews as puffery, but they do have a lot of special menu items you won't see everywhere. This place is in a random location - a strip mall next to a Payless shoe store among other things - but that makes it so much more of a little gem of a restaurant. I love supporting small family owned restaurants where the goal is providing customers with good food and no pretense. This place is good and cheap = YAY. There's a huge mural on the wall when you enter and probably about 15-20 seats in the place. Plenty of freshly made salsas and pickled vegetables to accompany your dish. You can pretty much watch your food being made behind the cash register. Food is brought out to you, and the service although not the most formal (it's not the most formal of places after all) is quite good. Tortillas come out hot and delicious. Beans come refried or none at all. The nachos are pretty large and could serve as a lunch in itself. I ordered the carne al molcajete which is a tasty and spicy beef dish that you should go for if you haven't tried it yet. Definitely worth branching out for the typical al pastor type meats (also tasty too). If I ever find myself in the area again, I would definitely stop by for lunch. I hope this place continues to keep locals happy because it would be a shame if a place like this didn't make it! This place is just really good Mexican food. Try it! read more

SO i got an AL Pastor burrito and an horchata. Around 9 buck so average in terms of price. The tortilla was a little thinner than a normal spot. But like they say, its the inside that counts. The inside of this burrito was hot. The meat and rice inside was cooked to perfection. To be honest, the burrito did not taste like a typical Restaurant burrito, but more like the kind you would make at Abuelitas house. They need a better salsa bar (they had 2 options and pickled onions and jalaps), but eh who cares. ALso, the burrito was a bit on the smaller size, which is fine for the healthy me, but not the fatty burrito enthusiast that sneaks its way out many days out of the month. Also, the people behind the counter were super friendly! (a late 40s I'm guessing man and woman) If the burrito were this giant piece of heaven it would have 5 stars. Instead the 4 is because the taste was only a teaser to the pearly gates of burritos. read more
