This place is the worst of the worst. Really place listen to me, I'm a foodie for many years, and there is nothing good about this place. Ready it smells bad in the bathroom area, service is the worst. I feel bad for these servers in a way but then if you sit to close to the kitchen area, you can hear all the servers cursing. Nobody here is taking responsibility to fix these problems. Moving on to the food. WOW nothing but crap, inconsistent pizza, the sauce, and the dough. OMG how bad is that? If you like cheese, you should eat here. Here is the mentality, load the plate up with melted cheese, and cover the chicken, veal, shrimp, or whatever it is your having. They think it is cuisine. DO NOT GO HERE!!! Today I called to make a reservation 3 weeks in advance for my husband's 40th birthday and the man that picked up the phone was argumentative from the beginning saying he couldn't promise a time. He said he'd put me in for an 8:45 reservation (after I asked for 8:00) and said even then he couldn't promise that we'd be seated before 9:30. It wasn't the timing but his overall nasty, flip and arrogant attitude. He was extremely rude and hung up on me 2 times after I nicely tried to ask a question because I was confused by what he was saying, as it sounded like he was unable to make the reservation. The food is definitely not worth the horrible attitude. If he is the owner, shame on him. If he's not, then he should be fired. I felt like I was talking to someone in one of those Gordon Ramsey, Kitchen Nightmare shows. There are too many excellent restaurants in Huntington to go here! read more

Excellent restaurant. Each time we go the service is perfect and the food always consistent. The stuffed artichoke is one of the best things you can eat but not always on the menu. Veal Flaherty with mozzarella and prosciutto in a vodka sauce might be the best entree. I like to order a half portion of spaghetti with garlic and anchovy with hot peppers for an app (not on the menu) but a good choice if you want to sneak a little pasta in for an app. The pork chops with vinegar peppers and veal parm are done just right. They never rush you out of there so every dinner is just a nice night out. read more

Fist and last time !!!!!!!!!!!- after spending well over three hundred dollars we didn't even finish our coffee and the bill was placed on our table. Once the bill was paid we were asked to leave, the manager came over to our table and said he was being harassed by customers who were waiting....in my opinion....too F-in bad. It shows that this restaurant has no class or regards to customers who plan a good night out. The long awaited visit with our parents turned into a insulting disappointment. One of the worst restaurant experiences we ever had on long island...pay and get out so we can seat more people. According to the manager this is common practice. This is the kind of food you would get at a wedding hall. My husband and I were so confused here last night. I'm sure this place was decent in like 1981. The decor is so dated and cheezy and feels like you are in a strip mall (which, I guess you are). Even for a "traditional" Italian place it is not good. It seems like every dish has the same, heavy, buttery sauce. Even my tiramisu seemed like it was made with cool whip. The waiters were frantic the entire night and it took about 30 min to get our dinner after the appetizer. So hard to believe that a town so close to Brooklyn and the Manhattan can exist in such a time warp. Sad that so many people were here all dressed up as if this is a nice restaurant. We would rather get take out from the fresher La Bottega or go for a much more innovative meal at Porto Vivo. read more

I have lived right around the corner from this place for years now and I finally saved enough money to go! lol. To be honest, my experience here was so incredible, it caused me to sign up for Yelp and to write my first review. I won $200 at a casino last week, so I figured a romantic dinner with my girlfriend was in order. We looked inside through the window and saw many people dressed in suits which made me feel underdressed, even though I was dressed business casual. We stepped in and were greeted by the maitre'd who was kind enough to welcome us warmly and shake both of our hands as if he had known us for years. He asked for a moment while he prepared a nice table for us by the window. Not sure why, but HE actually took care of us - our drink orders came quick and he took our food order as well. I am the type of guy who LOVES food and often can't decide what I want so sometimes I will give the server a few options and ask him to surprise me by bringing the best one. I suggested three things and he made a SAMPLER! Are you kidding me?! I was blown away and when I mentioned it, he simply said that they have everything in the kitchen, so why not make the customer happy? The food was to die for and the service went above and beyond. This might not be a useful review for some but it goes to service. We ordered delivery which we have done several times. After nearly an hour we called to check (it's usually very prompt) we were told 'it will be there shortly'. After another 30 min we called again (we had an 8 and 10 year old waiting to eat) and now were told 'that was for pick up'. To add insult to injury the woman who answered offered to have it delivered then! Which would have meant 90min old food in 1/2 an hour more or new food - if they remade it - in another hour! We love this place. The second time we've been & it's simply fabulous. My husband had the veal (I know) parm. I had the fluke special. Both were Incredible. Drinks were fabulous (not cheap with the pours) - and the service- impeccable. The only reason for not giving 5 stars - is because the shrimp cocktail was a bit over done. It was out first time eating here. Didn't expect it to be in a small strip mall way off the main street in Huntington. Very nice inside. When we walked in we had a 6:30 reservation. Everyone was very nice, though we were place in a single table behind a side curtain in the bar area. When asked to move into the main dining room they couldn't accommodate us. Although the table was nice and quiet it was dark. That aside, I ordered the Veal Piccata which was amazing. I would definitively recommended. read more

Started off bad when we were called at 7:41 that there Open Table computer program had incorrectly given us a 7:45 reservation, but they could seat us at 8:30. We had little choice on a Friday night to find an alternative, so we went anyway. How you have a computer system and years of experience and you realize 4 minutes before a reservation....seemed very fishy to me. A weak effort to apologize when we arrived was also met with a packed bar and overcrowded conditions. A free round of cocktails would have made me feel better...but they seemed much more interested in servicing and seating their regulars and the other folks that were clearly unhappy. Hmmm...did they decide to blow me off cause their regulars strolled in? We were seated at 8:20, quicker than promised I guess, and it was a pleasant surprise considering how overbooked they clearly were. Food was terrific, service and servers were top notch, although drinks were forgotten and had to be reminded twice. In fact there was a table of 12 that was clearly unhappy, and the hostess that I have seen many times at their sister restaurant Mill Pond, followed him outside to tell him to keep his insults about his experience to himself. Clearly not her place, and again, no apology, just excuses. You won't find too many places with better food....but I'm about the overall experience....and mine was fair at best. No thought or consideration for the screw ups...and although I love the food, I'm still a bit miffed. Plenty of places to go for the money that take better care of the customer when THEY screw up. The service is excellent and the food is absolutely delicious. It's very pricey but is a great place to try even once. I love the quietness and whole atmosphere. It's not a good place for children. I'm a big Brad Pitt fan and heard he visited with Angelina Jolie. Apparently they enjoy it a lot. Even just the Caesar salad had a great taste to it. It deserves five stars for sure! read more

Made it to Piccollos for the first time last night. Today being a holiday it was like a Saturday night. Everything we heard from people was how good the food was. We heard right. Amazing. The daily specials menu was as large as their regular menu. Appetizers we chose were the Barotta cheese platter which my wife favorably compared to heaven. I ordered the Tai calamari special which was not only delicious but gigantic. I actually called the waiter over and asked "I only ordered the appetizer this must be the dinner?". He laughed and replied "no sir that IS the appetizer". I asked if I had ordered it for dinner would it come in a wheelbarrow?!? Laughing again he replied "we just want to be sure we take YOU out of here in a wheelbarrow!" dinner specials were jumbo scallops over a shaved parmigiana risotto and a glazed pork tenderloin with a sweet potato/marshmallow soufflé and a brocoli/kale vegetable medley with lemon zest. I'm getting hungry again just thinking about it! Now stuffed to the gills we figured what the heck, our diets are blown to hell,we'll have some gelato for desert! At which time the waiter ran over with biscotti saying "it's better with some biscotti...on the house" Look it's not cheap, but for a special occasion it's well worth it. Piccolo has been a long time favorite of mine. They go out of their way to accommodate everyone. Let me explain. My wife and I are strict vegetarians. We went to the restaurant 2 weeks ago with another couple where the wife had a severe gluten allergy and cannot currently have dairy either. My own wife is pregnant and can't have soft cheeses. We explained all of this to the staff who expressed full understanding and that we would not have to worry. Many times at other restaurants they just tell you they will accommodate but don't pay attention and watch how they prepare in the kitchen. My friend's wife often ends up terribly sick the next day. Let's just say that all 4 of us had an appetizer course, an entree, and dessert. Everything was delicious and prepared fresh. Not one crumb was left on any plate. My friends wife mentioned that usually she doesn't finish the food because she starts to feel sick in the middle of the meal her body reacts to food not properly prepared to her restrictions. She texted us the next day saying that it was the best meal she had since her diagnosis and that she can't wait to go back again with us. And her husband who is a carnivore loved it too. From a vegetarians perspective, it's hard to find a variety of tasty menu options and Piccolo has dozens of choices for my wife and I. We have been there at least 4-5 times and never had the same thing twice. Their food and service is top notch. Best spot in Huntington for those have a discerning palate. read more

I have to say the food was excellent.. Our waiter was great... But this is not the place to take your little ones for fine dining .. That's how we felt before we left... She might be the manager but she could not make it obvious enough that my kids were bothering her...We were there on a weekday and got there before it started getting crowded.. She could not stop looking at our table... Maybe my children are being kids and making a mess at the table .. We never felt so unwanted in a restaurant before and we have taken the kids to a few nice ones that never made us feel this way!! this used to be the best restaurant in Huntington--our "go to" for special occasions--the owner has made a mistake by his lack of presence- he has put two obnoxious girls in charge. We arrived on time with guests for dinner. We waited more than 45 minutes even though our res was made weeks in advance. The dinner was nothing special, not its former standard. Within minutes of paying the bill one of the girls arrived along side the table and directly told us we had to leave. We have traveled and been to most of the best restaurants in NYC and have never been treated this poorly. Such a shame that what was once a great place has been brought down by people like them--don't understand what they are thinking. Don't waste your money on this one!!! too many great restaurants in Huntington to waste your time and money here. They have forgotten who they used to be. read more

Amazing food, amazing service....the room is unfortunately too small for the number of tables and the it feels both crowded and noisy. That does not stop the dozens of regulars from jamming in for the homey feeling atmosphere and wonderful food. I have never taken the time to post a review before, but this Saturday night the manager totally lost control and diners should be warned. We arrived early for a 8:30 reservation and resisted complaining until 9:00. Instead of being apologetic, the manager said we didn't have the full party there until 15 minutes prior. We're all neighbors and arrived together! Again, instead of being human and saying it was a tough night, he basically called me a liar! And he stubbornly refused to acknowledge that it's unacceptable for a restaurant to make the customer wrong when 30 minutes later there is still no table available. Only after the wives jumped all over him, did he offer a free drink. Keep your free drinks, or give them to the diners who have overstayed so you can clear the table. We saw several other parties leave after the manager snapped at them for asking how much longer. Instead of moving tables, he made excuses and took notes as if he were preparing for a report card. Well, he failed, and Sal D's across the street was happy to get the business. We eat out every week and were with friends who also enjoy the best restaurants. The food is terrific at Piccolo and the waitstaff are true professionals. We totally understand when things get backed up, but an inexperienced, inept, and rude manager is unforgivable. And from listening to others, this is a common occurrence at Piccolo.The food & service should make this a favorite restaurant, but when they repeatedly fail to respect customers and honor reservation times in a reasonable manner there's no choice but to SKIP IT!!! Firstly, I have to say that the food is excellent-I have been going to this place over the years, and it is consistently good. However, we had an 8:45 reservation on a Saturday night, and we were not seated until 9:30! Also, I had let the staff know, by way of my reservation through Open Table, that it was my very close friend's birthday, and I expected that they would have that noted, for when we ordered the desert, which they did not. I was quite disappointed at that--a single candle brought with the desert would have been no bid deal for them, and they neglected to do it. Also, while we waited to be seated, the bar was so crowded, that we kept having to move here and there, to make room for the staff to come through. They clearly overbook the reservations, and to me that means that the management is more greedy than professional. It's for that reason that I only gave three stars, even though the food was quite good. read more

we came here for one of our two date nights a month, on the recommendation of many many people. having recently relocated from the city i am on a quest to find the best go to spots for various occasions. so i feel like we have been playing 6 rounds of restaurant golf. that being said, i do not understand the excellent food ratings. the feel of the place is warm and inviting. the staff was friendly and in the beginning, when they were rushing to get our order they were attentive. but, as the meal went on it was clear that the staff were either too busy to care about our small table of two, or just sub par. they messed up two of our orders, one corrected immediately. the other was dessert, so we didnt bother telling them. they cleared our drinks before we were finished. and while they rushed to take our order and bring out the food, they let us languish thereafter. the food itself was just okay. we ordered two things off the specials. the butternut squash gnocchi, which seemed fried, and was not advertised as such. and the short ribs. they were over salted, over sauced. the calamari was fresh and good. the signature long island duck looked good, but hubby ate it all. i think there must be better Italian restaurants close by. while i would go back, it would not be my go to place. read more
