Excellent Italian cuisine and fine dining. Great service. Busy and people friendly. Have been several times and one of my favorites

I must be living on a different planet the the other people writing these 4 star reviews. Or maybe they have never had good Italian food, but ugh...what a bad dinner. We were seated promptly and told by our waiter that if there was anything we wanted that wasn't on the extensive menu, we would be accommodated. That was nice, but the menu is huge, so ...... Started with my husband's drink, which came with a METAL STRAINER in it. The apps were fine- he had Peconic scallops and I had Tuna Tacos ( I know- not Italian- tasty, but seaweed salad in an Italian restaurant is just weird). The noise level was awful and conversations carry across the room, so we listened to a diatribe about the "86 Mets for a good portion of our evening. THEN, the entrees came. I ordered Veal Saltimbocca, which was pretty tasteless and needed salt because I couldn't taste the proscuitto at all, which usually would have given the dish some flavor and the mashed potatoes (?) were bland. The sauteed spinach was good, but oily and that's about it. My husband ordered Chicken Scarpariello and asked for pasta instead of mashed potatoes. The waiter wasn't sure if that was possible. Hey, what happened to accommodating us if we wanted anything not on the menu? When the dish came, the mashed potatoes were on the plate so he asked that they be removed. The chicken served in cubes- very unappetizing and was overcooked and dry. He couldn't eat eat and sent it back. His linguini came on the side and was overcooked and mushy, and the sauce was very sweet. It was our anniversary so they sent over a plate of whipped cream and strawberries- which was nice since our meal was so terrible. By the way- they charged us $12 for the linguini we asked for as a substitute. With all the good italian restaurants on Long Island, I can't imagine how Piccolo's has the reputation it has. read more

Ate there tonight, ordered the Swordfish... It came in a large amount of butter sauce, which I cannot eat, and was not mentioned on the menu... They promptly put the fish only, on a clean plate & steamed some string beans... Afterwards, I also ordered the Organic Roasted Chicken, with NO BUTTER, no dairy of any kind, to go... Hours later at home opened it, to find it in a large amount of butter sauce... NUF SAID read more

Piccolo is a restaurant that has been riding a years old hype that is no longer warranted. When they first opened the food was amazing, but many chef changes later the quality has dipped considerably and it no longer justifies the high prices and overcrowded atmosphere. read more

I went recently, after a many years absence, and should not have returned. Veal piccata entree was greasy and odd tasting - we should have sent it back. Mozzarella app was dried out. I was embarrassed as I was with an out of town friend for a special occasion and it was not at all what it used to be. So disappointing, and pricey on top of that! read more

Piccolo is one of my favorite restaurants on Long Island. Beware, though: the kitchen underperforms somewhat when they're rushed, making the restaurant good, not great, on a busy weekend night. For the best Piccolo experience, I recommend coming on a weeknight. (The piano player is also in-house Monday through Thursday, which improves the experience. He's excellent.) Despite the fine dining cuisine and accompanying price tag, don't mistake Piccolo for a quiet place to have a low-key date. The restaurant is frequented by Cold Spring Harbor and Huntington Bay locals and has the air of a lively family-style Italian restaurant, sometimes including small children or infants in the restaurant. If you're looking for an Italian restaurant to wear a dinner jacket and whisper, this isn't your place in the slightest. The food and service are excellent, and the bar prices are reasonable. On our last visit, my wife and I started with a goat cheese salad and short rib cannelloni, both of which were perfectly prepared. My wife's veal parmigiana was first-class, and my blackened pork tenderloin in a citrus reduction, while slightly more well-done than I would have preferred, was delicious. Desserts were gelato and an incredible banana croissant pudding, which was like banana bread's gooey answer to the cronut. Terrific all around. Highly recommended for people interested in upscale, expertly-prepared Italian cuisine in a lively setting. Try to eat here when they aren't packed. read more

I always feel rushed at this restaurant, and I cringe whenever family wants to eat here. The food is fine (maybe 3.5 stars) but the prices and attitudes of the staff and clientele push this place down to 2 stars in my opinion. I would just never choose to come to this restaurant - as the evening wears on the waitresses eye your table like its the last turkey on thanksgiving morning, and the crowd at the bar becomes rowdy and obnoxious. The restaurant bills itself as Inventive New-American Italian, but really it is your standard Italian menu and the specials rarely thrill me. I like to go across the street to Sal D's and get the italian dishes served without the attitude (and minus the huge bill you'll have at Piccolo). read more

Best Italian restaurant in Huntington by far! Reasonably priced. Great atmosphere and service.

I've been to a lot of great restaurants in Huntington and this was not one of them. As soon as you walk through the door you are overwhelmed by the staff. I get they want you in and out but to the point of feeling uncomfortable is not acceptable. The Escargot was not good. If you are a lover of escargot you know the more garlic the better. It had little taste. The crab cake was so mushy we couldn't eat it. We informed the waiter we weren't in a hurry but he talked us into ordering the entree's and promised not to fire them until we were ready. When we told him we were ready the entree's came out of the kitchen in less then a minute. They were already fired and cooked and were sitting under the lights in the kitchen waiting for us to be done. Need I say more? It was a special occasion and we thought we were going to a special restaurant. We will never go back there again. A total disappointment!! read more

Tried this with friends last night for the first time. Wine and bread excellent, always a good indication. Hubby loved his stuffed figs appetizer; my kale salad with hazelnuts was great too. Tuna and striped bass were delish as well as the veal marsala and pasta in clam sauce. Will try again when we're out here. Service attentive too! read more

I absolutely swear by the stuffed artichoke! I try eating a stuffed artichoke whenever an italian restaurant features them and by far the best one i have had is here. Plus a great menu great service and fun atmosphere at bar read more

The food and service are top notch but the decor is a little old/dated and the restaurant is located in a shopping center (which I did not like at all). If you can overlook the location and decor though, you will be served great food with amazing service. It's a little overpriced but the food is good. I would've rated it higer if it were in a different location and the ambiance were a little better. read more

Unfreakingbelievable. The coconut shrimp are the size of petite lobsters and out of this world. Stuffed artichoke was like dessert as an appetizer. The stuffed veal chop might be the greatest dish ever, especially their "Flaherty" style with spicy vodka sauce. Piccolos is the gem of Huntington. read more

Amazing service, phenomenal food. I had the special salad of the night, coco dusted organic mixed greens with goat cheese and almonds. It was delicious and inspired. For my entree, I had pasta primavera. It's just a basic traditional Italian dish, but this was exactly what primavera should taste like. We went this week during restaurant week. With a total of 3 glasses of wine we paid over a hundred with tip for the prixe fixe dinner. Michael, our waitstaff, was very competent. I appreciate that. There were other wait staff members helping to serve as well. They were friendly and prompt. The food was good. The chicken was oily and should have been patted dry a bit before being sauced and served. The fish was good. The calamari was done well and served with two sauces. The winner was the Shiraz, absolutely lovely. One glitch was that I asked for water without ice but I was provided with a glass of ice water. The ambiance and piano music were fun. The other patrons were never loud or unpleasant either. We had a very tasty meal and a very pleasant time talking, drinking and eating. :-) read more

I truly enjoyed the service, and the portions of the veal with pasta were huge! I didn't like the wine list though - not enough options under $60 a bottle in my opinion. I was disappointed by the desserts though. The apple crisp didn't have enough "crisp" to it. Also, the more healthy entrees were not as delicious, nor as hearty. read more

So we had a bit of a wait bc the table before us was having a great time. Not Piccolos fault. They were so nice to us and bought us a round and prob and app or so. We always love this place and that's prob why. There is always a wait in any good restaurant in Huntington and they did the right thing by us!!!! Food was Always amazing as usual. I have never been disappointed at this place. The food is well worth the price. I recommend the eggplant rollatini for an appetizer. The veal chop is my favorite entre, but many others come in close second. Now if you are in a hurry to eat on a Friday or Saturday night, this place is not for you. They don't rush their customers out of the restaurant (like many places do these days). They let you eat in peace. Good food is worth the wait for a table. It's a small place, but the staff and manager do a great job trying to make everyone happy. It's a wonderful place to take a date, the ambiance and lightning work well together. I have been a customer for over 5 years now, and will continue my patronage for many years to come. I always thank my good friend for recommending this place to me. Hands down the best restaurant in Huntington, if not all of Long Island. We have never had a bad meal here. The staff are SO friendly and accommodating. They make you believe that customer service is not a lost art form. Definitely try their pasta dishes and malted milk ball ice cream for dessert. read more

Piccolo has the freshest and most authentic Italian food on the island. All pastas are made fresh to order and the place has a very old world feel to it. It's no secret that the word around town is that Piccolo has the best food. I just HAD to know for myself. So I went to Piccolo's last weekend and wow.. They weren't kidding!! He kicked us out after ordering 4 courses because we "took too long" and he told us his customers who were waiting were "freaking out" because of the wait. If you're in a rush it's good. Just moved to Ridgefield and remembered coming to this spot years ago but didn't remember if it was good... it was! Been here 3 times in the last 3 weeks for lunch. Consistently yummy food with a friendly staff and priced well! Haven't tried for dinner but great lunch specials and I find myself craving the delicious and filling pasta fagoli. Salad specials and pizza were tasty. There are so many choices in Ridgefield but I think Piccolo's is a solid choice. read more

We just love this restaurant. We've been coming here for about 4 years now. We come here from Calverton NY (which is about an hour away) and let me tell you, it's so worth the drive. The waiters know the menu, they have class and are very respectful. We have a particular waiter that we ALWAYS ask for. (Marvin) He is wonderful! We just love him. He knows exactly what we like as well as suggesting things we might like and as usual he is right on. The food is always made to perfection. The service is outstanding. I personally start off with the caviar then the crispy oysters, which are out of this world then the filet mignon,which is always perfectly done and finally the biscotti and desert wine and I can't forget my cappuccino, whew! The drinks are great and they have a fantastic wine list. I'm looking forward to going back next month for my birthday. The restaurant is very classy and romantic. Old world excellent service. Food is superb. On a par with Rao's. The best on Long Island and rivals anything I ever had in Fordham\Belmont.

This place is the worst of the worst. Really place listen to me, I'm a foodie for many years, and there is nothing good about this place. Ready it smells bad in the bathroom area, service is the worst. I feel bad for these servers in a way but then if you sit to close to the kitchen area, you can hear all the servers cursing. Nobody here is taking responsibility to fix these problems. Moving on to the food. WOW nothing but crap, inconsistent pizza, the sauce, and the dough. OMG how bad is that? If you like cheese, you should eat here. Here is the mentality, load the plate up with melted cheese, and cover the chicken, veal, shrimp, or whatever it is your having. They think it is cuisine.
