When I say tiny, I mean five-tables-tiny. Six, if there isn't a large party. By all means, make a reservation. They had no choice but to turn people away Saturday evening. "May I see the wine list, please?" I asked. They don't have one. But they DO have wine, a nice selection from Italy. In describing what I like -- cab or malbec, around $30 -- the owner/server/host, suggested an excellent blend. $27. We started with antipasto. Look at my photo. Does that look good, or what?! Both T and I ordered piccata -- he veal, me chicken. Served over homemade fettuccini, the entrees were light, lemony and delicious. Dessert? Why yes. I asked the owner/server/host what the most popular dessert is. Limoncello cake. Not made in house, but boy, was it good! (I made sure T didn't have more than his fair share.) Not to be a snob, but NYC boasts the most delicious Italian restaurants. We know our food! And son-of-a-gun, three of the five tables tonight were filled with New Yorkers. I was visiting my sister in Florida when I stumbled upon Piccolo. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants true Italian food. I walked in and all the customers dining starting talking to me as if they knew me. Truly a family feeling...to eat, I got bolognese and lemoncello cake (out of tiramisu). It also came with warm bread. It was soooo amazing (I knew I was going to regret not ordering 2 meals for myself lol). It was truly so good and authentic!! Unfortunately, I couldn't sit down because they were booked for the evening. They only have a small dining area, so make reservations, it's worth it!!! This place is just flat out outstanding, but really small. A true diamond in the rough kinda place. Not to oversell, but family operated and known to those "in the know" mostly by word of mouth. It's hard to get a reservation, but worth it. I love Italian food, particularly fond of the Italian food in the Boston, and Providence, RI areas, but this food is better, with each order hand prepared. The Veal Piccata is my favorite but if I'm really hungry, I'll get any of the Parmigiana's (Veal or Chicken) or the lasagna (generous portions). I drink the red wine that the owner (Roberto) recommends. The bread is decent, but not their main focus so don't judge by the bread. Absolutely wonderful! Roberto was great from my initial phone call for reservation to the very end. Food was great. I moved here going on 2 years ago. Haven't really found a good Italian restaurant. I initially attempted to make a reservation for 3 at Carmella's. Unfortunately, they could not provide me with a table for 3. So I opted to try Piccolo. I'm sure glad I did. I had veal parm and spaghetti, hubby had veal Marsala, and our birthday girl had eggplant parm with homemade fettuccine. All 3 were great. No lie, no exaggeration. The wine Roberto suggested was perfect. And we all had tiramisu. Couldn't have asked for better. Forget Carmella's. This is where you need to be! Loved it and will be back. read more

Our first visit here, and the restaurant gets Five stars because the food is GREAT! We were so excited about the food, I forgot to take pictures before our first bites. My husband had the lasagna, and I had the manicotti. We both described our Italian dishes as, "one of the best we've ever had," really! The flavors were amazing, and you can taste the homemade freshness. Our plates were licked clean, not really, but it was that good. We enjoyed the rolls with the local Fisherman's Village, Bella olive oil and balsamic vinegar. What a nice special touch. The restaurant itself is your proverbial, hole-in-the-wall, so go for the food. There is no atmosphere, except for a couple of nice Italian themed pictures, and the tables and chairs are showing their age. It was so nice to meet Roberto owner/server, and we got to wave to his wife, the amazing chef. Don't be in a hurry when you go because the food and service are homemade. It's a Very small venue so make a reservation. We finished up with a most delicious slice of Lemoncello Cake!!! Oh it was so good, a bit pricey at $7.00 for a small slice, but we had to try it a least once. I'll definitely be searching online for that cake recipe. The one thing we missed, was a small house/garden salad with the meal. It would have been refreshing with the rich Italian flavors and would have made the wait for the entrees seem less lengthy. ;) We can't wait to try some of the other entrees on the menu. Although we are into our seventh year in Punta Gorda, this was our first visit. Friends have raved about this place and also mentioned it doesn't have much atmosphere. Who cares? The food was superb. My wife and I ordered the veal parmigiana....she with fettuccine....me with spaghetti noodles. The owner recommended a Chianti to pair with the dinner.....Chianti Classico....and it was perfect. Over the years each of us have had veal parmigiana in many Italian restaurants, but tonight's meal was the absolute best we have ever tasted. We ordered a cheesecake for takeout (absolutely no room left for anything) and will enjoy it later tonight or tomorrow. Along with some tasty veal parmigiana leftovers. read more

We tried the new place.. Quite small. Seated quickly, not too crowded but understand there can be long waiting times. Anyway, I had the chicken Parmesan, and my husband had the eggplant parm...... Both were fabulous in both flavor & temperature. We went with the added cost for FRESH pasta. Best choice. Sauce was full of flavor and we will be going back. We do think they should have some classic Italian music playing instead of the current hip-hop. Would help minimize the smallness of the room and the table talk of next table.
