I grew up in Southern California, eating at In-n-Out and not realizing how good I had it. And as I moved around the country, my baseline for what makes a good cheeseburger remained the Double-double Animal Style. And rarely did anything come close. Until Pick-Quick . To begin with, the burgers made by both joints are similar, but please don't go expecting an exact match. And that's a good thing. There are plenty of places in the Puget Sound region trying too hard to make a poor facsimile. Pick-Quick goes another direction. This is a plus in my book. The bun is just right. The meat patty griddled to perfection. The cheese is cheese, and the veggies are what you'd expect. But the onion is the game changer. No lettuce to give you crunch but little if anything else besides potential intestinal distress (looking at you, Taco Bell). It's a single, solid slice of sweet, mild onion, a flat ring that adds a solid crunch and a satisfying counterbalance to the rest of the burger. A change in perspective that is both welcome and delightful. And they've got a picnic area to enjoy instead of a dining room. So there's that. Their fries are great. The shakes are great. The service takes a while, but that's because they're actually back there, making your order and the orders of the forty people who got there before you. And the wait is a part of the charm. A rite of passage, a way to atone for whatever sins you've made against the cheeseburger gods, for which you will be greatly rewarded in half an hour. Suck it up and deal. read more

Family member thought there was a Big Al's in Fife. None of us did ANY research to see if this was true. Turns out it was a casino called BJ's. Lol! Yeah, we didn't even unbuckle our seatbelts to get out of the car. As we were leaving, we see this LINE of people at what looked like a tiny house. We were hungry so we found parking. We found out the name of this joint while we're waiting for our food at the picnic table on the grass behind and beside the restaurant. Beware of the birds. They already KNOW this place is good! They are bold and will try to get your fries. Yoooooooo! When I tell you this place is like IN-N-OUT, you better believe it. Menu, burgers, fries and shakes with a little more flavor and menu varieties. The burgers and fries are even wrapped like INO! The employees have black hats, t-shirts and black aprons (full covered) similar to the other restaurant. The food quality of the burger however is not there. If you get a triple patty burger, you will have a regular patty anywhere else. Those fries....outstanding perfect In-N-Out cut medium well done lightly salted excellence. See why the birds like 'em? The shakes...that butterscotch milkshake was the best I've ever had apart from Chick-Fil-A and Jack in the Box. The strawberry shake had whole bits of real strawberry in it! So glad we took a wrong turn and ended up having this adventure. If we ever come back this way again, you know where we will be eating. Maybe I'll get the hot dog next time. My granddaughter and grandson had never been here but have heard me talk about it do visited. They wanted to try the strawberry, which is in season right now, and a Hot Fudge Peanut butter milk shakes along with burgers and fries. They were both impressed. Now, they plan to makd this a tradition since they loved it do much. This place hits absolutely, every. time. What a hidden gem in the Fife area, and who would've known that I'd find a place where I'd fall in love with burgers again! I love In-N-Out burgers in California, and this place comes close to reminding me of them. The flavor is just right and is probably one of the best fast-food and affordable burgers in Washington, in my personal opinion. If you took me away from SoCal and blind folded me and told me we're back in so cal and fed me pick-quicks burgers and fries I would have said I didn't leave LA .... The food is sooooo familiar to the point that I'd say it's one and the same of a privately owned LA institution but this this is whole diffeeent level because there's no lines and they do it just as good if not better! Very solid old school burger spot. Pick Quick is a pretty affordable simple burger spot, for my first visit I tried a Deluxe Double Cheeseburger and a side of fries. Even though they were kind of busy the service was quick and efficient, and I received my order in about 10 minutes. My favorite part of my order was the fresh cut French fries. They had that right combination of crispiness and pillowy potato softness that I prefer in a fry and were well salted, all for under $4 for a large serving. The burger was on the smaller side but still tasty and satisfying, with my favorite part being the "Pick Quick" burger sauce. read more

I decided to give them another chance recently. The fries are really good. Crispy. Hot. Lightly salted. The single patty cheeseburger with bacon added is decent. My husband LOVES them. I think it's fine. There are places I like more and places that I won't even review.. The one thing that could up their game a lot would be sightly thicker burger patties. These are really thin so a single patty burger is more about the other ingredients than the meat. Pick Quick sauce (fry sauce) is good. Might be made with tartar sauce or relish base. Iceberg lettuce. Totally expected. The employees are usually pretty tired. There's a sign up. They are hiring! Help these kids out and take a shift or two if you're in the job market. :) The outside seating area is actually super well done. Picnic tables for both kids and adults. Next to a fancy car dealer so there's even a fountain nearby. On the far edge of Fife so safer feeling than down by the casino. read more

Because the burgers are made to order, they can be customized. You can get chili on your fries too! The milkshakes are made with real ingredients, none of the packaged stuff. What I really like you can get grilled onions with your burger. There are also hot fudge sundae and banana split you can enjoy outside on the picnic tables. Unbelievable for this Tacoma-native that yesterday was the first time I had ever supped at Pick-Quick Drive In. My partner had for some time suggested that we give Pick-Quick a go as we've been searching for the best burger in our area. We ordered 2, single deluxe cheeseburgers with grilled onions, 2, orders of french fries, a 16 oz. chocolate malt and a 16 oz. strawberry and banana milkshake. Deluxe single cheeseburgers were tasty and would be ordered again by this reviewer. The french fries were definitely fresh as advertised and came with skin on. I usually like my fries extra crispy but the thickness of these fries would not be conducive to extra crispy. Fries were very tasty as evidenced by our leaving no fries uneaten. The malt very much pleased she-who-must-be-obeyed. My strawberry-banana milkshake was yummy and featured fresh strawberries and bananas. Malt and shake were wonderfully thick. The staff were friendly and super efficient as they must be given the ordering queue was at least 15 parties of varying sizes deep. Our late lunch was eaten on a picnic table in the park-like grounds and we left happy and satisfied. We shall return. read more

We like to find those hidden gems when we wandered and this may be one...so far so good. We stopped by to get the 13yo a burger...and me a coney dog. The kid ordered a double cheese burger with bacon. He said it was okay, saying the patty was small and bland...keep in mind he salts everything...even salty fries...I know... June 21st 2026. We waited 50 minutes for our food, which consisted of 2 shakes, 2 burgers and one order of fries. The shakes came out 25 minutes before the food. Unacceptable. It was reasonably busy but really nothing out of the ordinary, this was ridiculous. We have been customers for years and have never had such poor service. We will not be back. I gave it one star because it wouldn't let me give no stars. read more

The burgers weren't terrible and the staff was nice! Unfortunately my Diet Coke was flat and they gave me no ice, but were nice enough to give me a new soda (also with no ice). I don't know if this is common practice as I've never seen anything stored on the floor in any food service I have ever worked, but I saw that they keep their onions on the ground. I also watched the main cook walk out of the kitchen, touch multiple door handles and other things, not change his gloves or wash his hands, and then proceeded to touch our buns and our burgers. Stopped by Pick Quick Drive-In in Fife, and I appreciated that they now accept credit cards. It definitely makes things more convenient compared to their previous cash-only setup. There's plenty of outdoor seating, and it actually feels like they've added more since my last visit. The parking lot, however, is still a bit chaotic and unmarked, which isn't a problem when it's empty but gets tricky during peak hours. As always, the food hits the spot after stopped by the dealership with their classic drive-in fare done right. It can feel a bit heavy depending on what you order. We saw Pick-Quick on the internet in one of those "Best Burgers" lists and had the opportunity to revisit it again yesterday. When I say revisit, I remembered PC and I had eaten something there probably 6 years ago, so when he saw it on the list, I said oh yeah, I've been there before, when we're in Tacoma let's swing by. Yesterday when we were elbow-deep in our Pick-Quick burgers and fries, he admitted he was feeling deja vu and that we had eaten there before. Score one for me! Anyhoo, the cheeseburgers were delish! The handcut? fries were just like PC likes them! Next time, he said he'd go for the grilled onions, although the fresh onions were crispy and oh-so-flavorful. Lots of cheesy goodness on the burgers. I really liked the mustardy mayo sauce on my burger. Service was friendly and efficient. No complaints or "if only"s from us! We pinky swore with each other that we will be back in the future. Great small drive in. Looks run down and extremely old....the outside is so outdated and everything there from the signs and building are probably in its original form! Even the menu is super vintage. Regardless of how old this place is, when we pulled up, there was a line! Drive in burgers are my favorite so we got 3 cheeseburger's, a double cheeseburger, fries, and a Diet Coke. The burger did not disappoint. The fry sauce was delicious and the Diet Coke was a great way to wash down the yummy goodness. The burgers were the perfect size. The fries were fresh cut and also hot and crispy. We came to Pick-Quick yesterday to get some classic burgers and milkshakes. I ordered their Hot fudge milkshake and enjoyed it with some fries. They have a lovely outdoor seating area with picnic tables to enjoy your food on a sunny day. There are two downsides to Pick Wick though, at least this one. 1. They do not provide bathrooms at this location. We would love to have stayed for longer, but couldn't due to this. 2. They do not offer cheeseless burger patties at all. This is a shame, the more ways there are to eat a burger, the better! I like them a lot, but they do have some room to improve. I don't think it is hard to provide a cheese free patty option for those who want it. With that said, their milkshakes appear to be their strong suit-I love their range of flavors! read more

They have many rats in the grassy area where we ate our food. I saw at least four. I told a worker, she said, "I know but there is nothing I can do about it." I said, "could you tell the owners then?" She said, "they know". I have grave concerns someone could get bit by an aggressive rat or a child could come in contact with rat droppings and become sick. I saw a customer with a little dog that could've been bit as well. I reported to the health department. Their food was good, but don't sit at a picnic table. read more

I have been going to Pick Quick Drive-In for over 40 years. There are now new owners and they are going to ruin this for their loyal customers. First the good. They are now open all year around without the closure from Nov.1 to Feb 1. They now take card payments instead of just cash. Done with the good and from here it goes downhill. SIN # 1. They changed the fries. The fries used to be 5-6 inches long, 1/4 inch thick, and fried a darker color. They were greasy and soft and would fold over for a pleasant bite. No more. They are the standard whitish fries you get at any burger place. 1/2 the length, no color, over cooked, no flavor and no grease. They have changed the staple of their business. SIN #2. They no longer take phone orders. This place is small with limited grill capacity. So if you get there to order during their lunch time or dinner time, you could be waiting 30-45 minutes for a burger. The line is always long during these times. So it was always smart to call your order in like I have done for 40 years and your order would be ready when you got there. NO MORE. They won't take phone orders but you can order on the internet. Well when I am traveling on I-5 and get hungry I can't just pull over in traffic to open an app or get on the internet. 99.5% of the time I was a phone order and that was 3-4 times a month for over 40 years. Well I guess they don't want my business any longer. These two changes are enough to make the drive to Dick's in Federal Way or Frisco Freeze in N. Tacoma. I have taken their number off my speed dial and just won't be back. I would normally wish the new owners good luck but in this case, I hope they fail miserably. read more

The quintessential 1950's cheeseburger experience. Good food. Good vibes. A true time capsule.

Typically I love a good burger spot where I can get a burger, fries and a shake so I was looking forward to trying out Pick-Quick. I was able to order quickly and the food came out fresh. They are still cash only also. My family and I ordered a few different things to try: cheeseburgers, fries, oreo shake, peach shake, chili fritos and a grilled cheese. The oreo shake was the best part of the meal. The burger was just ok.. the patty was so thin. The fries weren't my favorite.. they seemed very oily and came out the bag soggy. I would skip the peach shake also - it's made with canned peaches so that's exactly how it tastes. The outdoor seating spot is really nice and they have beautiful sunflowers surrounding the area. Overall: I am glad I tried, but I can name a few other local burger spots that are far better and less expensive. read more
