Easy, tasty and healthy Asian eats. Went for a quick lunch - ordered the hot honey chicken. Was pretty spicy and cooked to order (was piping hot). Today we stopped in. The family was eating at Jersey mikes but my daughter wanted pick up stick instead. Our host was Xóchitl. Kind with us as we've only been there once before . Put the spice on the side for my daughter and was honest about the spice. While I was waiting for our order at Jersey mikes my daughters order was done maybe 8-10 min wait . Wasn't super busy but most of the tables were taken. When fast food is ready too fast it kinda makes me think that it's been sitting for a while so I'm fine with a reasonable wait if it's fresh and hot. Anyway I peeked in to check on the order and another customer was yelling at the host. I was taken back because she was very nice. Even when the customer was yelling saying this that and the other she didn't raise her voice she apologized and explained that the food was ready. I assume she was yelling about the wait. I ordered before her and her food was done before mine so I can't imagine she waited very long. Our order was delicious and my other kids including my husband and I snuck a few bites from our daughters pick up sticks order. The food is simple okay. Nothing special, which is fine when you just need a quick dinner. What's not okay.. is paying the money and not getting the appropriate portions. I ordered a family meal that comes with 4 items. I was surprised to see the big plate only half full. They use such a giant plate just for show but don't actually fill them up so I'm very annoyed by that. Mongolian beef was really good, so was the teriyaki chicken. The flavors are super good and they have some of the best orange chicken I've ever had. So good. They also carry some deserts and have platters for big parties or catering. I got the Pad Thai, Hot Honey Chicken, teriyaki chicken and veggies, wonton soup and their Chinese Chicken Salad... all 5 stars in taste.. 3 in portion size but since its a lighter option than your typical Chinese fast food it figures. The Prices are a little too much for what you get but Good quality cost money. the Customer Service is Great, the Establishment is clean, plenty of parking. The cook told me they can't accept an order until 11am, okay. The cashier came, she acted like she didn't want my business. I explained I would wait. She wouldn't take my order until after 11. When I asked if they received my order, she said they don't get the online order until 15mins before my pick up time. The app had a 11:30 pickup as the earliest. If she had explained that I could have just placed it with her (it was 10:55) She pretty much ignored me until 11:15. I just wish she could have been more kind and helped me understand my options. I would like to preface this review by saying that I love Pick Up Stix as a chain, and have admired the food for several years now. But this location certainly did not meet or satisfy my expectations whatsoever. I always order House or Firecracker Tofu. My tofu was good, but my brown rice was slightly dry and undercooked. My mom ordered Kung Pao Chicken with the Chow-Mein upgrade, and the noodles were terrible. They had a distinct undeniable taste and odour of old oils. The restaurant manager argued with my mom saying the food was weighed and they aren't in charge of how tiny the pieces of chicken are that THEY SERVE. This is my first time dining in the city of Downey and I will never return here again. 2.5 stars read more
