I would give this 3.5 stars if I could. We ordered a salad, prime rib sandwich and a cheese quesadilla. Each entree was about $9.00. The only one worth it was the prime rib sandwich. The cheese quesadilla was so wimpy with hardly any cheese and hard. The salad was just ok. For that price it should have more chicken I feel. We did order some desserts like puppy chow and a rice Krispy treat. Those were priced very reasonably and were very very good. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. read more

I have been frequenting this business for nearly 20 years and have bought many a two-foot party sub. Even though it's no longer on the menu, the people I've placed the order with in the somewhat recent past said, just ask for it. It was great for when guests came unexpectedly and people often like their subs. However, I guess the end has come. Even though they sell a two-foot bomber that can only be eaten at the restaurant, you cannot get a two-foot party sub. Makes me very sad. Now you can only get a party platter. The best sandwich place ever!! Their quality and quantity is outstanding. The friendly team is an added bonus. My favorite is the half marathon (13 slices of bacon, 26 for a full marathon), on the sub with all the fixins. Recently I tried the aPorkalypse and was not disappointed. Their homemade cilantro jalapeno slaw is the cherry on top. The sandwich alone has to weigh close to a pound, and you get a side with it as well. Your best bet is to sit down and eat or pick your order up. Delivery service sucks. We have ordered from there many times and the wait was always at least an hour and a half. We ordered today and had to wait two hours for just two sandwiches. They seem to only have one delivery driver. Food is amazing but definitely not worth the wait. read more

Very casual dining almost like stepping back in time to small deli with tables in northern Wisconsin. Soft music plays courtesy of a boom box. Grab a seat in a wooded pine booth or table and take a look at the extensive menu of pizza, subs or mexican food. Something for everybody here but I had my eyes set on the pizza which comes VERY thin crust. Order a soda and it comes out of the fridge in a plastic bottle (fine by me) but you do get a glass with ice. Sorry, no beer or wine here which is too bad, a glass of red wine with this pizza would be heaven. My wife had the meatball sandwich served with kettle chips and reported it as delicious. I absolutely love there subs. Their bread is so delicious and always taste fresh baked. I always ask for the bread to be toasted and ask for there special oil dressing. I love aporkalypse (ham, bacon, & pulled pork) sub with the jalapeño coleslaw on top. The large subs are so big for me that I have enough for lunch and dinner. Heard about The Picnic Basket from a coworker, and we stopped there yesterday. It is a small, tidy restaurant. Looks like they do a pretty good carry - out business. We ate in. The staff is exceptionally friendly. The menu is pizza, and various types of subs, wraps, and sandwiches. My wife ordered the Bourbon Chicken sandwich and I ordered the Turkey and Avocado sandwich. They were 2 of the best sandwiches we ever had. The Turkey and Avocado sandwich was huge and a bit messy, but it was well worth the extra napkins. The waitress brought us samples of the 3 side salads they serve. They were also excellent. We'll certainly stop in again. read more

When you know what sandwich to order life's good, but sometimes you try something new and it's a dud. That was my experience, and it's high price to pay for a sandwich I threw away. Now it's just a sandwich no chips on the side unless you want to pay a extra 1.29 for a small side of chips? I've had some really good subs, but I've had a few bad ones too, and with the no side on a carry out but you get them if you dine in I will keep driving next time i'am in the area. read more

TOO MANY RULES! I came here with my family to try it out. We decided to take advantage of the beautiful October weather and sit out on the patio. We were not allowed to bring a beer purchased inside to the patio. While sitting outside a gust of wind picked up an umbrella and it fell on us while we were eating. We decided to take our lunch inside and were told that next time we wouldn't be allowed to dine in once ordering our food to go. Even after we explained to them that an umbrella hit us in the head on their patio. The food is okay but the service and staff suck. read more

First time going to the picnic basket. The gentleman at the counter was full of energy, enthusiasm, and spunk....love it! I ordered the Turkey Bacon Avocado sandwich and for $10.50 I was expecting a heaping pile of turkey. There was one....maybe two slices of the Turkey and the Bacon was burnt. Not enough Turkey and almost too much Avocado! For the price of this sandwich is was not worth it. Did I mention the sprinkle of Kettle Chips that I got? Not sure what happened to this place!! We used to love it and would visit at least 2 times a week. The last two times were have either gone to eat there or tried calling in, staff was horrible, rude and actually I cancelled an order I had place on the phone because of how terrible the staff was. Now they have expanded and should be interesting to see how they do. I would NOT recommend this place anymore to anyone, I miss going there, the food was always good and fresh. I have had lunch here periodically over the years and until my most recent experience, I was pleased with both the menu and service. My last visit here brought me an exceedingly negative experience with two servers and the owner. Rude and unprofessional does not begin to capture their comments. Treated me as though I was an inconvenience and not a valued customer. I will never return to this place and will take care to relay my experience to personal and professional associates. Where do I even start? The picnic basket is the best place I've eaten at in a while. The choices they have on their menu are abundant, whether you don't eat meat, or don't eat gluten, they will still have something for you. They have wraps, subs, pizza, soup, sweets, and sandwiches. I've tried so many things and every single thing I've had is good. Really!! Most of the reviews I have read are from a few years ago. I wish people would give this place another chance because i have never had a bad meal here. Not only is the food amazing, but the employees are all very helpful and kind. They are right at the counter when you walk in and make sure to have your order right and that you are satisfied with your meal, then when you're walking out they always say thank you and have a good day. Personally, I am close with the kitchen staff and the owners and I know that the people making my food are amazing and care about the results. If they make a mistake, all you have to do is kindly tell the waitress that your order was incorrect instead of writing a review on yelp about it :) If you have had a bad experience with the Picnic Basket before, I implore you, come again, and see what they have to offer. read more

We just took our two small children to dinner there. They shared a turkey sub while I tried the special and my husband had the chicken burrito on the recommendation of our waitress. My husband's burrito had so many white onions in it that was all he could taste. I even tried it ( and we both are onion lovers) and I couldn't stomach it. When the waitress came around she asked how everything was and he told her. No substitutions were offered. He left the restaurant with three quarters of his burrito uneaten... When we paid up at the counter the cashier even asked how everything was and I told her flat out there were way too many onions in his burrito and he could not eat it, are there usually that many? She did not have an answer for me and again no other substitution were given. With tip, I left the restaurant spending $40. Two of us even had water to drink. I am a very big supporter of small businesses in small towns, but this just left me with a bad taste in my mouth, literally, and a lot of money spent. Very disappointing. read more
