The Picnic Basket has been a local staple in Nashota for as long as I can remember ... 20 years??? It's always been fantastic, and started life as a road little roadside country store where local tradesmen and kids would frequent on the regular. They have remodeled time and again over the years always raising the bar. Most recently they have really done a nice job finishing their outdoor seating area. Their food is always homemade, fresh and full of flavor. When you order the roast turkey sub, they actually roasted the turkey... For real, slow roasted, tender, juicy and way better than anything you've had at thanksgiving! They are known for great subs on great bread! The meatball being my go to, but they make a mean pizza and do a nice job on Americanized Mexican dishes... Don't expect Abuela's old standby dishes, but for what the Picnic Basket is, it's darn good! 1:30 PM on Saturday... Packed house of about 40 inside, and by the time we left... There was a wait! There kitchen and staff could run a how-to. Top notch service with a fast kitchen that puts out piping hot food that's right all the time! Great to see a thriving local business! read more

I have never tried this place but a co-worker was picking up and asked if I wanted some lunch. I got the Bacon Chicken Wrap with Cole Slaw. The Cole Slaw is the best I have ever had in my life and the Wrap was fresh and tasty. Looking forward to trying other items on the menu soon! read more

This is absolutely one of the best places to go and eat. Locally owned and operated by a staff of the best people I have ever encountered while dining out. Quick, accurate orders. Fair prices and best of all there is not a bad sandwich on their menu! Curbside service during this rough going has been just as good and tasty as inside dining! My order came out to my car within 1 minute of pulling up and texting in. Delivered in a bag by a person wearing both mask and gloves - PERFECT for me. Their cucumber deli salad is the absolute best! I give alot of 5's on Yelp, but honestly Picnic Basket deserves it. Here me out... I've only sat and ate here twice, but both times the service was great. The seating area inside is comfortable and accommodating. Most times I've ordered my sandwiches to-go. Everytime the wait is reasonable, regardless of how many people are ahead of you. Never have I waited longer than a few minutes. The menu is awesome, especially for a sandwich shop. There is a sandwich called the BLT marathon with 26 slices of bacon on it. Come on!?! I've had a ham cold sub most times, but have also tried the bandit (ham, turkey, bacon, cheddar, provolone, banana peppers, and bbq ranch sauce) and chicken bacon cheddar subs as my trusty backups. The subs come on a great 6 or 8 inch tasty sub roll with plenty of meat and veggies. I get the 8 inch and I'm definately not ever hungry afterwards. You can get chips as a side and soup, as well. Never tried the soup but I've heard good things. They also have an interesting side in jalapeno cilantro coleslaw. Alot of flavor, not to spicy...I like it! Hidden gem out in Nashotah! They are a full service restaurant but great for take out and pick up as well. They have sandwiches, wraps, pizza and salads. Their sandwiches are awesome. GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS!!!! I love this place and I especially love their rotisserie turkey sandwich. It's a great non-processed meat option and delectable to boot. I also highly recommend the rice krispy treat and cole slaw. I would recommend ordering ahead. They take phone orders. But it does take a little while for the food to be prepared. So many good regular options on the menu, and so many interesting specials. Every soup I've had here has been good. Every dessert, for that matter, too. The Bada Bing is a favorite. I grew up in the Lake Country area and Picnic Basket was always a favorite. However, I did eat meat then so my perspective of their subs and the gap of time since eating them may have changed my mind. Stopped in a few weekends ago to grab some lunch while in the area. I told my bf that they had really good subs (from what I knew) but he went with a bacon chicken wrap instead. In his opinion, there wasn't much ranch in the wrap itself and the wrap was just okay. It was a huge wrap so he couldn't even finish it. I went with the veggie sub and added guacamole at the employee's suggestion. My main issue with the last two veggie subs I have had from here is that they are MESSY. They fall apart and are difficult to eat, maybe they are just too big. They lack flavor too. The guacamole tasted a bit off and I would have preferred it not to be there even though I love avocados. Their coleslaw was fantastic, that we both really liked. The staff was friendly and there was a bit of a wait for our food. Overall, I haven't been very impressed with my last couple of visits. I have yet to try the pizza or Mexican options. I do recall their meat subs being tasty back in the day so I'm sure they still are. read more

My first trip to Picnic Basket. The wait staff certainly wasn't accommodating to parents with infants. Server was fairly rude when my wife simply wanted to sit while waiting for a table. She was upset that we were taking a table. Problem with that is that nobody was behind us waiting. ...we left. But I get it, finding good staff is challenging in these times. What a great deli! The menu is extensive for such a small restaurant in a small town. Picnic Basket knows how to change with the times to keep business hopping. They offer easy online ordering and quick pick up just like big chain competitors, but with better food. They also feature regular specials to keep the menu interesting. First time here. We've been talking about going for awhile and had high hopes. My wife and I got salads. $10.99 and $7.99, and description said "mixed greens" which is clearly not the case. (See pic.) Kids mac and cheese is Kraft, which I guess is ok. Trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt, and maybe they're known more for the sandwiches or pizza? I went to this establishment today and ordered my food to go then I decided to eat in and was told I could not in the most rudest way of the waitress who was very aggressive with telling me no I could not eat inside because I didn't order from her and I wanted to eat inside that I had to order from her I told her I did not know that and thought it was ridiculous that I paid my money to eat and if I change my mind to eat in I can't WOW as the waitress talked loud in front of other customers I felt degraded and embarrassed as she seem to block me from sitting as if she was pointing me to the door as if I would be pushed out if I sat down I told her I did not know this there was no signs posted anywhere stating this was it just her or was this really the rule I've never been to a restaurant where I can't change my mind to eat inside instead of carry out the cashier was nice by trying to accommodate by saying she didn't know it was my first time there she gave me some samples but it just didn't take away the disrespect i felt I went because I heard the food was good but the service was bad i took it upon myself to try anyway and it was true I would never go there again and will not recommend this to anyone read more
