I stopped by this local taqueria for breakfast burritos recently and was honestly really impressed. I had been here years ago, but it had been a while so we decided to give it another shot. My wife ordered the bacon egg white burrito and I got the chorizo burrito. She was actually a little hesitant because the last time we had it about four years ago she wasn't a big fan. This time though she loved it. And if my wife approves, that says a lot because it means we can officially add this spot back into the breakfast rotation. My chorizo burrito was delicious. The flavors were great and the green salsa with the pickled jalapeños on the side was the perfect combo. Everything tasted fresh and really hit the spot for breakfast. The staff was also incredibly nice. I even accidentally dropped one of my salsa cups on the floor like a total rookie and they were still super friendly about it and helped me out. They had a dodger game on a big nice tv inside and the ambiance was set really nicely . Inside was very clean and well kept too which I appreciate. I visited Pico Pica Rico to satisfy an old college craving of carne asada fries and ordered their Super Nacho with chicken and a Gordita with asada. The parking lot was not the easiest to access as it's fairly small, and at the time of visit had only one lane because of construction. Picking up the order was fairly smooth, and the sides / condiments were self-serve as expected. There was also a small bag of chips and salsa included in the order. Eating inside felt as expected; it was neither the cleanest nor dirtiest but maintained regularly. I realized soon that I forgot a horchata and added that, too, and it was as expected with respect to sweetness. Food wise, the chicken nachos were nostalgic but not remarkable. It was my first time having a gordita, and this thing was very carb heavy - definitely not something I'd consider reordering. Maybe it's the portion, maybe it's normal, or maybe it's not for me. Pico Pica still holds up. In 2020 I said that PPR was 'small but mighty', and now five years later and revisited, I'm glad to see that they still deliver. On this particular visit, I ordered the Bacon Breakfast Burrito (eggs, bacon, hash browns and cheese); the New Breakfast Burrito (hash browns, chicken sausage, eggs and cheese); and a Carne Asada Crunchy Taco. Everything was delicious. The Breakfast Burritos were big and nicely packed, and the Taco had just the right amount of ingredients. It wasn't swimming in lettuce or cheese but it had plenty of Asada. They also have a small salsa bar with about four different salsas, and peppers. Pico Pica Rico hits the spot and the service can't be beat. They also have a comfortable front patio with a few tables, so you can sit outside and enjoy your meal. Definitely worth a visit! read more

I was in area and came across this place thinking it would be basic. I ordered the chilaquiles and I was so surprised with the flavor of the sauce. It had just the right amount of spice and so flavorful. I was the only person there when I ordered so the service was great and the food came out quickly. I find it outrageous to order a desert and get a store bought item. You wanna do that at least be specific or fake it! The flan is store bought. The guacamole is terrible and it doesn't come with chips. The Jalapeño Dourado comes with literally ONE jalapeño. The nachos were cold but okay. The burritos were okay as well. Went to Pico on a Wednesday evening. Paid a little too much than I would have liked for 2 tacos and a burrito ($30) . The guy at the counter was super nice and the ambiance was cozy. However compared to other taco spots id rank this one at a low. Burrito just kind of tasted like a blend of mushy ingredients and not too much flavor either. The taco shells weren't very good either. I ordered on DoorDash and decided to give it a try because of the reviews and I like to try new places I ordered two taquito plates which seemed like something easy. When I tried it, it had a familiar taste. It tasted like the taquitos you would get at a store freezer aisle. My sister tried it and it was taquitos you would get from the freezer aisle. As a Hispanic this was sad. I spent $14 for each plate and I got freezer aisle taquitos. It was really heartbreaking to be served that. Honestly I threw it away. It was a waste of money. This little spot, and I mean little, has great Mexican food and should be checked out! My original order got messed up, but they re made it correctly and quickly. They were all smiles and apologies, and very friendly. The food was authentic and tasted great. I got red and green sauce on my wet asada burrito. Christmas! There are only 4.5 "booths" inside and a salsa station next to a drinks cooler with Jarritos and a variety of can sodas. There is a small patio outside with chairs and tables, surrounded by plant with a small fountain in the corner. Very cozy. We got the food to go, but decided to sit outside on the patio. The food continues to be good and the counter service is friendly, but the vibe was off when I recently stopped in for lunch. Not sure why the place had only one other table who left shortly after I arrived. I ordered the super huarache with barbacoa which was on the fatty side, I should have stuck with the carnitas which is my usual choice. As I mentioned wou walk-in to a very small space maybe 5 booths, order at the counter and they will being your food. I felt they were being a little too cost effective when they gave me 4 chips to go with a large plate. The sauces are good, hot means hot, so choose wisely. Updated review 2022. Apparently they have new management because the new manager JOSE is RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL Came in to order Chilaquiles rojos plate & a torta de AL PASTOR. Ordered this all in store with the manager of the store. Left back home to Santa Monica, only to find out that the torta was of CARNE ASADA. I don't eat carne asada and that's not what I ordered so I called the restaurant. The manager JOSE answered, I told him the situation. Told him I took a picture of it too. He said well, "I can only give you half credit for it since you aren't bringing it back " " You can either bring it back (Santa Monica to van nuys) or i DONT MIND LOOSING YOU AS A CUSTOMER " He then proceeded to hang up the call and won't answer now. Well I'll tell you what, we won't be returning here ever again. The food went from great Mexican food to thrash and it shows why. I've went to this spot twice and its a hidden gem. I never noticed this place, but decided to try it after checking out the game store next door. First off, the parking is terrible, theres so many business with one small lot which has parking spaces designated for each business only or you will get towed. You can park on the street, but good luck parking is scarce. The inside has a small patio outside with table and chairs, inside has some booths with a t.v. Not many seats inside. The food quality is really good! I ordered the salsa verde wet burrito with carne asada meat, it has cilantro, onions, cheese, beans, etc. your order comes with chips and you can add sides of beans or rice. I ordered the sides of rice and beans with a large soda. Food quality was really tasty! They have a small refrigerator with various other drinks in it to purchase Jarritos, can sodas, etc. Theres also a small salsa bar with lemons, salsa verde, red salsa, and more. The restaurant closes early and closed on Sunday. If your in the area try this place out! When you exit, be very careful the street is busy, if cars park on the curb in front you cant see cars coming, theres a light nearby that has cars constantly coming your way. I have been ordering from here for 9 years off and on and never had an issue. I ordered breakfast today through Yelp and they completely got my order wrong. Shorted me the drink I paid for and totally screwed up the food order. This wasn't the worst part I called to get my missing drink and to get the correct food item I had ordered and the guy tells me over the phone "do not order from here ever again, take it up with Grub Hub". I was talking nicely to the guy at this point and just telling him I wasn't even mad when I called I just wanted the order corrected and he then proceeds to tell me to F*** Off and that he was going to kick my A**, he actually had the nerve to threaten a customer with violence because THEY screwed up my order and I wanted the order corrected to what I paid for! Absolutely terrible customer service! I had my employee go back and pick up the Horchata they had shorted me and then the guy threatened him (my employee) with violence as well. Keep in mind my driver/employee is a 73 year old man. This place should not be in business! I will be reporting this incident to Grub Hub, Door Dash, etc.. The guy is a maniac!!
