The place itself is a super hole in a wall type of situation but immediately you are greeted by such great staff members I ordered my food and went to sit outside because it was a bit hot inside but I love people watching so outside it was lol. 2 LOADED shrimp tacos with rice and beans and a LOADED chicken crunchy taco with a Coke Zero only 27$ which was very reasonable especially for the great quality, they brought me out chips and salsa and a side of green sauce and everything was just so fresh I didn't even need to ask for more sauce. Tried their Mega breakfast burrito and it did not live up to my expectations based on reviews here. I had high hopes and this burrito was just meh. Not bad, but not delicious. Pros: great service and friendly staff! They do not skimp on the meat and food is hot and fresh in minutes! Cons:The "golden potatoes" were a non-factor in the burrito. All the flavors and textures mushed together for a consistent average creation. The salsas were also lackluster. Neither had any kick, green was watery and the red remained me more of pace in a bottle than freshly made salsa. I want to support local spots so I might give them another chance and ask for crispier potatoes and crosstown fingers the salsas are better the next time. read more

I'm unclear how this place has a 4+ star review. My co-workers and I placed an order online for pick-up. I ordered a large green juice and a three asada taco combo with salad and rice. To start with the positive, the green juice was delicious. So glad I ordered it. Was feeling under the weather and it hit the spot. Now the bad- the food was really awful. Again, not sure on the 4+ star review, but everything about it was bad. The asada was sooo salty. I could only force down one. The rice seemed old, like it wasn't freshly made. And the salad didn't have any dressing. It was just lettuce. Was I supposed to ask for it? It wasn't an option in the ordering menu.. and the salsa was average. Nothing special. Pretty watery and mild. Really disappointed we ordered from here. There is a plethora of Mexican food options in the area and we landed on this spot because of the positive reviews. Made a call to deli Mex for spur of the moment dinner party. Ricardo was very easy to work with and offered several options to fit our budget and individual dinnerware . The food came out fresh, delicious, and at a great price! We had chicken tacos, rice, beans with all the accoutrements... lettuce, tomato, onion, cilantro, salsa and guacamole plus chips. Found this amazing little hole in the wall breakfast spot while waiting for our car to be serviced. I've been craving a really good breakfast burrito for the past couple of weeks and Deli Mex did not disappoint !! The chorizo burrito was perfect and fat as fuck pro tip check in on yelp for free chips and dip :) the dip itself was very, very good. There's a sign in front of the cash register stating that all of their sauces are homemade. You can definitely taste the love and authenticity in every bite. Although there's not a lot of seating, it's very cozy and cute inside. Went off a recommendation and saw the great reviews. Order a carne asada burrito and person who takes your order is super nice and really want to give this 5 starts but just can't because I was let down by the burrito. I think it's because my expectations were so high because it's a good burrito it's just not an amazing burrito. I like a ton of meat in mine and didn't taste the meat as much as I'd like. I've been going to this little mom and pop shop for years. Its family ran Mexican restaurant with the owner Abraham and his son up front while the owner's sister cooks in the back. Or at least she used to, have not asked lately. Food is always delicious, made with fresh ingredients. It takes a little to prepare, but like any home cooked meal I guess. Totally worth it. They also vary Mexican cola and other drinks. And you can order freshly squeezed juices of your choice too. I usually come for the garlic shrimp plate with rice, refined beans and salad. read more

Deli Mex is a nondescript place on the corner of Magnolia and Van Nuys but the their Chorizo and Mega breakfast burritos are unbelievably good. Being so tasty and full of flavor, the chorizo stuffed with egg and cheese was my favorite. The mega is your classic egg, sausage, bacon and potato burrito. The place is tiny with a couple of tables inside and in front. You'll probably want to get it to go anyway so call ahead to skip any wait.
