    SIZZLING SKIRT STEAK FAJITAS
    Dan P.

Maria was fantastic during lunch today. She was very attentive and she made sure everything came out quickly. She has such a friendly attitude and made the whole experience feel welcoming and easy. Any time I needed something, she was right there and I can tell she really cares about giving great service. The fajitas were excellent and came out hot and sizzling, with great flavor and generous portions. They were cooked perfectly and made for a really satisfying lunch. Between the delicious fajitas and Maria's friendly, helpful service, it made this a really enjoyable midday meal. I will definitely be back and would be happy to sit in Maria's section again.

here they are the enchiladas I probably like the crab a little bit more I might do double

but I'll tell you, the manager could not be better his name is Arnie is excellent and of course, the employees have been cloned. We had the seafood enchiladas they were great. I think I preferred the crab over the shrimp, but I wanted to taste those an interesting thing that was his recommendation. My waitress's name was ELVIA I felt guilty. She found everything along with the manager where I could plug my computer and I'm handicap. I have a service star I think even she enjoyed the place. My visit was epic. I've been going to El Torito. I include my parents since maybe like 1954. I think it was Encino, but I wasn't born yet but anyway too many years to remember.

As a vegetarian who doesn't like their spinach enchiladas (anymore) - WHY would you remove cheese enchiladas from your menu? Especially when you don't have many options for vegetarians to begin with! Every Mexican restaurant of all levels either offers (or will make if requested) cheese enchiladas...never going back here

    Famous House Margarita

El Torito's Saturday Breakfast is so darn yummy! And really cost effective...leave here with $ to spare and a full tummy and fab drinks! Special shout out bar specialist Rudy (Pooh) and manager Arnie

The food, service and ambiance were great. Haven't been here for a while and it did not disappoint. The prices are budget friendly, the food is fabulous. Parking lot gets packed quickly but they do offer valet with a service charge. They have happy hour drinks for great price and a few small bites to eat.

Food was delicious and the drinks were really good too. The service was amazing. Everyone was friendly and checked on us often. The ambience is nice and comfortable, great for a casual meal or a night out. Portions were solid and everything came out fresh and hot. Overall, a great experience.

The happy hour was awesome! The food was great, the atmosphere was a bit outdated. Will definitely return, maybe add more TV's and remove the glass holder around the bar! You can't see anything!

One of the best taco spots in the valley. Come watch your sports games and get your best margaritas. On Tuesday or Wednesday or Thursday or any other day poppin, off fajitas quesadillas. Sopes and nachos highly recommended.

I decided to try mexican food this weekend. El torito use to be my fav in the Av but they slipped so i was really shocked that this Sherman oaks spot was on point. As soon as we walked in they greeted us immediately, the host and a hispanic male which i believe he was a manager. We sat in the bar area, the ambiance was nice and i enjoyed the music. When we got our food it was quick thanks to Adriana being so quick and friendly. The food was ok a lil dry but i love the happy hour on a weekend so ill be back!!!

Lovely spot for Mexican food with fun vibes!…read more I came for Sunday brunch/lunch with some friends. I made a reservation through Yelp a couple days beforehand and there was plenty of availability. The restaurant is located right off Ventura Blvd and has an attached parking garage in the basement which can be accessed via the parking lot behind the restaurant. There were plenty of spots available Sunday afternoon when I came. It's a bit hidden, but there is an elevator from the garage to the top level where the restaurant is located as well. We had two babies in strollers with us, so I requested a table with plenty of space nearby for the strollers. They seated us outside on their covered patio, and indeed, we had plenty of space. I peeked inside and there's also a nice lounge area with a beautiful flower wall as well as a proper dining area. When we arrived, there was a live DJ spinning tunes. I assume he's there during brunch hours, as he left around 3 pm when brunch ended. I started with a frozen lime margarita ($12). It was okay; it felt like it was only half frozen as the ice wasn't blended that well. For my main, I got the famous Anejo carne asada and shrimp plate for $40. Yes it was pricy, but the portion size was also huge! I was starving and somehow managed to finish the plate, but it'd be a great dish to share for two people with small appetites. I really enjoyed it as well. I asked for the steak to be cooked rare, and they didn't overcook it. Each bite was super tender and flavorful and paired well with the rice. Everyone else also enjoyed their dish. One friend got the wet chicken burrito for $15 and it was massive! Another got the veggie fajitas with steak added and really enjoyed her dish as well. Solid food all around. I would love to come back on a weekday and try their happy hour! Sipping on $5 margaritas and $6 sangrias sounds like my idea of a great time!

I moved away from Sherman Oaks but have made it a priority to go back to Casa Vega a few times a year. I have to say over the course of the last several years the quality has slowly declined. The original owners retired or passed on and new management took over, the daughter i believe. We went tonight and there was little resemblance to the food we used to enjoy. First, the salsa recipe is different and not nearly as good. I have to ask why would this be changed when it was the best in area? I ordered the empanada burrito with carnitas inside. This used to be a burrito with casa vegas excellent refried beans that is oven baked with ranchero sauce and a light amount of cheese on top. Instead the burrito did have beans inside with the carnitas but they were not as good as they once were, being more chewy and less flavorful. And the burrito was drowning out in melted cheese and somewhere some ranchero sauce was on there. My wife ordered a chili relleno combo. A chili relleno is a poblano pepper stuffed with cheese and fried with an egg batter. Not any more. There was no cheese inside! There was a minuscule amount of cheese on top. The house margarita was still top of the line and the chips were still very good. In summary, what was once a top valley Mexican restaurant is now mediocre at best. That food no longer warrants a premium price. I struggled to give it a 2. Sadly I will never return.

Oh O'CADO, what a wonderful discovery you were, thanks to my friend Liz on Yelp!…read more As a carnivore, I LOVE all kinds of meats and proteins! With that being said, I am also open to trying new things whenever I can, and occasionally I like to try vegan/vegetarian restaurants. O'CADO was absolutely FANTASTIC! I can't say it enough: FRESH, FRESH, FRESH! Every single item we got (and we got quite a few) was so fresh, scrumptious, delicious, flavorful, and TASTY! Honestly, everything was prepared so well that if I didn't know I wasn't eating real meat, I couldn't tell the difference. THAT'S how good this place is. The portion sizes are also pretty big and appropriate for the price. We actually took advantage of their Happy Hour Menu so we could sample more things. We walked in with my son yesterday, 9/2, around 3:30pm after parking at a nearby meter since there's no parking. As we walked in, we were greeted by Jose and his kind smile/friendly vibe. He got us situated at one of their patio tables and gave us some time to look at the menu. Once we got our thoughts together, he took our order and checked on us at least three times. Will, later came to take away the dirty dishes, glasses, utensils and napkins. He was also very helpful with a nice smile. We had water for the table but I decided to try their Sangria, which was very good. My son tried the Strawberry Margarita and said it was delicious. For appetizers, we got the Balsamic Brussels Sprouts, Avocado Toast, and Buffalo Cauliflower. Every single item was just OUTSTANDING! The Brussels sprouts were nicely charred but not overcooked. The balsamic brought a nice sweetness to them. The cauliflower was fried to perfection and stayed crispy through the whole meal. The avocado toast was also great and had a nice contrast of textures on it. Great start to the meal! For entrées, we got the Carne Asada Tacos (side order of House Slaw), Grilled "Chicken" Caesar Wrap (side order of Chili Cheese Fries) and the Thai Peanut Crunch Bowl. Again, every item was beyond delicious and FRESH. We kept saying "wow" with every bite because we were enjoying it that much! We also couldn't believe how much it tasted like real meat in the tacos. So juicy, flavorful, and again...FRESH! They had a few dessert options, but we were too full. The place was spotless clean and had a few other people dining there. They also do to-go orders and third party apps. One gender neutral bathroom, which we didn't need to use. I highly recommend trying this place, especially if you are a skeptical meat-eater. You should give it a chance and allow your palate/taste buds to explore. You might be surprised by how much you like it. Thank you Jose for great service and the O'CADO team for such a lovely lunch! 20/10!!

They are out with…read moretheir best restaurants issue right now, and she was asked, what is the secret to restaurant success. Her answer really made me think: "Vision and delicious food". That's it! These may be hard times for hospitality in general but so many places are thriving anyway because someone at the helm knows about vision and food. Always on the lookout for something new and different, serving a fair amount of vegetarian and vegan dishes that are delicious, I somehow found Ocado. You have to look to find a place like this, unless you live in the neighborhood. The menu is staggering. Every single item is vegan, but unless someone tells you that, you wouldn't know by eating there. This is a place especially for two categories of people: committed vegans or meat-lovers who want to make the switch. I am in neither category. I am a lifelong vegetarian who has never liked the taste of animal meats. So, I appreciated and enjoyed Ocado even though I had to search the deep menu for things that did not include simulated pork, chicken or beef. Those things are there and the ones I chose were excellent. This is a small place. It is crowded most of the time, which must mean something is being done right, no? It is mostly clean, simple, but with little extras like the movie we could watch (Three Men and A Baby), the tinkling fountain, and hefty silverware, glassware, plates and napkins. The service was attentive and friendly. Parking is easy if you go to the corner and choose one of the Public garages for a very low fee. There is also metered parking that is just a matter of luck and timing. If you go at 3 pm on a Sunday, you will have no problem parking or being seated. We chose to eat at the bar and it was vey convenient. All that is very positive. The owner of Ocado and the chef (maybe one and the same, I don't know) had vision and knows how to make everything, and I mean every single item, delicious. For example, there are sauces and cheeses that are completely plant-based. I rarely have those and these were exceptional. Delicious and surprisingly so. There is one small drawback and it is personal. This stretch of Ventura is not the cleanest, best-smelling, or prettiest. I wish it were. A few blocks east and the environment is much nicer. But, this is where Ocado lives and is doing well, from everything I could see there, with a steady stream of patrons, and great reviews. This kind of food is the future. We are not going to return to barbarian times when we had to hit an animal over the head to get protein and then doctor it up to make it palatable. No meat based dish could possibly rival the ones we had at Ocado and that is a good sign for the progress the culinary arts are making and inevitably will continue to make as they recognize their environmental responsibility. Trust me. If you want to be ahead of the curve, and healthier, you have to see what is possible at the visionary Ocado.
