Maria was fantastic during lunch today. She was very attentive and she made sure everything came out quickly. She has such a friendly attitude and made the whole experience feel welcoming and easy. Any time I needed something, she was right there and I can tell she really cares about giving great service. The fajitas were excellent and came out hot and sizzling, with great flavor and generous portions. They were cooked perfectly and made for a really satisfying lunch. We recently visited El Torito in Sherman Oaks for the lunch menu and experienced an unacceptable dining experience and felt compelled to share our disappointing interaction. Our waitress, Elvia B, provided subpar service that fell short of expectations. A simple request for extra dressing was met with an unimpressed attitude, and the dressing was delivered spilled all over the container. Elvia's demeanor was unfriendly, and at times, she appeared annoyed by our simple requests, making us feel unwelcome. The poor service overshadowed any enjoyment of the meal. We were particularly disappointed by Elvia B's behavior, as it seemed she was more focused on rushing us out than providing quality service. As a result, we will not be returning to El Torito in Sherman Oaks and would caution others about the subpar experience we received. Furthermore, we spoke with the manager Moises who acknowledged our concerns and attempted to rectify the situation. While he was apologetic and tried to make it right, we felt that he could have done more to address the issues. Unfortunately our bill included charges for items that were advertised at a lower prices, which was frustrating and felt like a lack of transparency. I come here often. As soon as the bartender sees me he pours me a glass of wine. It's waiting for me to be seated. The bartenders are so attentive. I actually started coming here recently. I felt the food would be Americanized so avoided the restaurant. To my surprise it wasn't. I was I the mood for Asada Fajitas. They were so delicious! I decided to try mexican food this weekend. El torito use to be my fav in the Av but they slipped so i was really shocked that this Sherman oaks spot was on point. As soon as we walked in they greeted us immediately, the host and a hispanic male which i believe he was a manager. We sat in the bar area, the ambiance was nice and i enjoyed the music. When we got our food it was quick thanks to Adriana being so quick and friendly. The food was ok a lil dry but i love the happy hour on a weekend so ill be back!!! read more

We had such a great experience at El Torito. Our server, Marlon, was amazing--so funny, personable, and attentive. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and exactly what we were craving. The staff even welcomed our pup with fresh water, which made the visit extra special. The restaurant itself was very clean with great vibes. A manager, Joseph, stopped by to check on us and made us feel genuinely welcome. That personal touch stood out. Parking is limited--there are only a few free spots and none were open, so we opted for the $8 valet. It was worth it to not worry about finding a space. Overall, highly recommend this location. I haven't been to this brunch since I was a kid with my parents. We used to come all the time and I totally forgot about it until I called and asked and they said they still do Sunday brunch! So my husband and I took our Daughter and checked it out and it was delicious!!! Soooo many options! Everyone that works there is so so sweet. The food is nothing special. Standard overpriced Mexican food, mediocre drinks (the margaritas are made with wine btw, not tequila)... this place has no business acting like it's some kind of "fancy" Mexican restaurant. I wouldn't even be super opposed to returning to the place if it wasn't for the abysmal service and ridiculous parking situation. Our server kept bringing other people's order to our table while neglecting to bring us water or the drinks we ordered (even after being reminded). We also never got a refill on our chips despite asking. After 20 long minutes of waiting, our food arrived, and the alcoholic drinks shortly AFTER (again, we were never given water at all even after we kept asking politely). The only place you can really park at this location is in the valet lot (the ENTIRE parking lot is valet, FML), which costs a gut wrenching $8, and forces you to watch the valet move your car 6 feet forward into a clearly marked spot that you couldn't pulled into on your own Once we got our bill (nobody came to check on us and I had to find a worker to get them to bring over the check), we found that we had been charged for a drink we never drank or ordered, and were also charged for a drink that we were told would be free. I told the manger that it was a mistake, and I added that the waiter mentioned he would comp one of our drinks because it arrived so late in the meal (they brought the wrong drink first). Manager pretended like he cared but didn't actually comp the drink, only took off $6 from our order. Oh, and also, they started adding a mandatory 5 percent "service fee" to EVERY BILL. Unfortunately, this restaurant doesn't seem to respect its customers at all, and expects them to pay an arm and a leg for what they offer. Go to the nearby Islands instead. It actually has good service, good drinks, free parking, and no greedy service fees. read more

I've always loved El Torito. I've been to this one a few times. Might be my imagination but the signage has shrunk or is a darker color or something. There is a shared parking lot with other businesses and restaurants in the little area. They opened at 11, and we arrived at 11:30 and were seated right away. The staff was very accommodating. They have a great lunch menu from opening to 2 Monday through Friday. Food was hot, fresh and delicious. I can't say enough about their sweet corn cake. My favorite!! Ok, bye. read more

I am updating my review from 5 stars to another 5 stars! Last time I was at El Torito was back in 10/2022 and had a MARVELOUS experience in every way. Well, things even got better. My friend and I were there on 02/04/2025 and had a GREAT late lunch/early dinner experience. We were celebrating both of our birthdays that was back in January, Late Christmas, New Years, and unfortunate death of her sister Mary. So it was both for happy and sad occasion. Not to mention that my friend and I hadn't see each other for almost 6 months. Starting from entering the restaurant. A girl, I believe the hostess Maddy welcomed me with a nice smile, light spirit and a small conversation while I was waiting for my friend's arrival. Once my friend arrived, we were escorted to our table and right after was greeted by our server Elvia B. She had a nice, warm, kind smile and a nice upbeat demeanor. She was knowledgeable, helpful, took our order and brought our order w/out any mistakes or misunderstanding. One of the things that I liked about her and her service was that she didn't bother us every 5 minutes to see if everything was ok. That's how you earn a real, good tip and she got what she deserved. She knew when to appear, and when to disappear. We both got Carne Asada Burrito with rice and beans. Food is always SO consistent, fresh, and DELICIOUS!!!! No drinks, just water and I ordered salad with their yummy Cilantro dressing. Great ambiance, clean restaurant including the bathroom. Was not too crowded which gave us some time to do some catching up with each other. Lovely service and the only thing that I haven't tried is their Sunday Brunch; which hopefully one day I will try. I have tried their Margaritas which is PERFECT!! Get rid of that ridiculous valet parking that costs so much money when we all can park our own cars. This is one of my favorite casual restaurants to come eat at! Parking lot can get busy and full, they do offer valet parking for an extra charge. Food is always great, seating in the dining room is plentiful for large parties or take advantage of the happy hour deals in the bar area. I love coming for dates, a friend's meet up, or a celebration. Well priced, decent food, and great service. The margaritas are all delicious, I order mine skinny. I've ordered salads, soups, and 99% of all the appetizers. Their enchiladas, tacos, burritos, fajitas, and all their fried appetizers covered in cheese are excellent. Happy hour was nice, service was nice. Kind of disappointed with the amount of alcohol in the drinks it was more sugar than anything. But we got an extra shot and dumped it in there so that was cool. Also dissatisfied with the carne asada fries. It lacked love idk. Lacked a lot of things. Sour cream, cheese, pico or any sort of garnish. Not even the buzz made me enjoy them as much as I would have liked. They were naked. Fries themselves were good though. My sister liked the flautas. I felt like they weren't Mexican style. Not sure what the goal was. Bartender dude also started dusting the top of the bar while we were still eating so that was kind of gross considering it was dusty.
