The San Lucas Shrimp plate Nicely presented for a pasta option Mexican style, but no flavor. Parcooked rice with no seasoning flavorless black beans for a bit of cheese people die with unripe tomatoes, half of them green half of them red half them spicy with no seasoning and guacamole just a smidge and nothing flavorful. The shrimp oh my God. Yes they were cooked properly. Seared not overcooked crunchy plump. But so packed with chili that you couldn't even eat it. No seasoning no citrus no yummy delicious garlic nothing. Just pure chili paste. Almost unbearable. $16 for a steak quesadilla for my little boy. And a protein plate for my daughter with Asada steak. A decent portion of steak with terribly cooked vegetables again with no seasoning. They're better off putting beans on the plate not a bunch of nasty vegetables. Their Salsa bar was half empty missing containers and very odd flavors to their salsa again no seasoning. The roasted tomato or chili salsa was extremely odd flavor. Did not taste like tomatoes or normal natural flavors. No citrus and no seasoning just spice spice spice. I love the vibe in the atmosphere in this place. It's very fast very clean and very exciting but I don't know. The food is somehow. Too much hype for nothing. Once again this is Los Angeles. We are full of Latinos that have family tradition flavors and I can guarantee all of you with this has no tradition for their flavors. Used to be my go to place around the corner with friends but this last time today was so disappointing. I ordered the Chicken Quesadilla as usual and it was horrible. The chicken was very sparce little chunks, not shredded but the worst part was the tortillas which were so hard, thick and tough like a thick piece of leather. It was impossible to eat it without pulling my teeth out. Not sure if they changed Chefs but they need to change again because I will never go back with that tough leathery tortilla and no shredded chicken inside. Hate to see what the burritos are like. Even the cheese was thick like fake cheese. They should be ashamed to serve food like this. Manager was nice and gave me a free meal to make up for it, but not sure I want to eat there again. Came in and picked up two agua fresca watermelon large drinks. This store for whatever reason has decided to add an overt amount of sugar to their watermelon agua fresca. Which was highly unexpected as the PM store i frequent the most is the OG in studio city. The studio city store is the abdolute best agua fresca watermelon drinks. Encino has much to learn. I've been coming to this restaurant for many years, and it's honestly disappointing to have to write this review. I don't like leaving negative feedback, especially for local businesses, but as a long-time customer and a paying consumer, this has become too frequent to ignore. Prices have nearly doubled, and with that, there's an expectation of consistent quality and basic customer service--especially from a place known for fresh, well-prepared food. Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case lately. My most recent order was close to $80. Flour tortillas are supposed to come with the steak and chicken plates, and I also paid extra for additional flour tortillas. They were completely missing from my order. This isn't an isolated incident--it's the sixth time in the past six months that something has been wrong with my order. I understand that restaurants get busy, but accuracy matters. Simply checking the order before handing it off would make a huge difference. If things are too hectic, it's better to pause or limit orders than repeatedly send out incomplete ones. We recently moved out of the San Fernando Valley to an area that doesn't have a Poquito Mas and, although there are plenty of Mexican food options, we miss having Poquito Mas close as it was our go-to for basic and good Mexican food with plenty to eat for us vegetarians. So when driving through the area on the way home we jumped at the opportunity to stop in for dinner. It hasn't changed...still offers good and authentic Mexican food...the beans are great. they handmake tortillas and if you're there at the right time you can see that happening. The place is family-friendly and there are lots of options. We had veggie tacos as well as a customized Bean and Cheese burrito, all served with chips (unlimited if you're dining in!) We appreciate their salsa options at the server yourself salsa bar, and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. They've got beer too if you swing that way. This was my go-to spot because I work in the office building on Hayvenhurst and loved their petite steak burrito and tazon bowls. Unfortunately, when I picked up my order on Monday 2/24/25 I noticed an actual baby cockroach (or something that looked similar to one) toasted into one of my chips! Thank goodness I actually saw it because I usually devour the chips so fast since they're super yummy. Anyway, on my way home from work I stopped downstairs to let them know and the woman at the register straight up took the chip, immediately crushed it up and said, "see, it's just a burnt piece of the chip, it's not a bug". Unfortunately for her my actual career involves providing extensive evidence to clients, so naturally I took a video of it clearly displaying the bug in advance when I first grabbed the chip. She then looked at me and with a blank stare very rudely said, "well, what do you want me to do?"...and I was like..."well I eat here all the time so if you could let management know that would be great and I would advise you to throw out todays batch of chips...." She was extremely rude and the response rubbed me the wrong way. I worked in the restaurant industry most of my young adult life and I've never experienced such blatant "IDGAF" from a place that wasn't fast food. I wasn't looking for anything free nor did I ask for anything free, I was just trying to advise them on what was cooked into my dang chip! Needless to say I'm the loser here because I had two favorite foods that I'm now going to lose out on, and the convenience of it being so close to my job since I won't be returning to this location. The misses: they served my daughter watermelon water that was already spoiled. When I called to tell them what happened and that it gave us both a stomach ache, the employee basically said "well no one else has complained today" I told her I was happy to drive over and have her smell it for herself and she finally understood she needed to take this more serious and agreed to give us credit for the kids meal. I am not a vegetarian but I will only order the vegetarian burrito when I'm at a Poquito Mas. They make their tortillas fresh at the restaurant, and you can really taste the difference when you bite into it. I've tried their chicken and shrimp tacos and burritos, but those don't come close to the level of tasty gooey melty bean and cheesiness as the vegetarian burrito. You can order the burrito in a petito or a classic size. Pair that bad boy with one of the salsas from the salsa bar, and you got yourself a pretty good meal. I'll keep this short: the food is cafeteria food, it does not taste remotely Mexican. The prices are marked up by at least 20% beyond where they should be. The staff are rude and uncaring. The dining areas are frequently a mess. The catering orders arrive cold and late. There is a reason why the Poquito Mas restaurants all have an average 3 star review, with about an equal number of 1 and 5 star reviews. The '5' stars are from people who were either lucky enough to dodge a rotten experience (or maybe just don't know what real Mexican food is supposed to be) and the '1' stars reflect what Poquito Mas *really* is - a crappy restaurant that tries to pass as authentic Mexican. A few of my friends came over to help with a construction at one of my projects. To treat them, they all asked for burritos. I was excited, because there is a Poquiito Mas lesser than a mile away. I got there and they were busy. All the chairs were filled, which a great sign. That means the food is fresh. I saw really nice full dishes go to tables. Large dishes . I ordered three beef burritos with EVERYTHING and the same for three chicken bonitos. She showed me a chart and I said yes with everything. When I got home, I noticed the burritos are very skinny. I thought maybe they were squeezed in the bag. But, no, there were no beans , no rice and very disappointing. My friends eat a lot and these burritos were not satisfying. Taste was there, but they weren't worth $13.35. So I went back to the store to find out why I didn't get their monster burrito. I wasn't upset as I knew the staff at this location truly work hard. As I walked in I saw the young lady who took my order. I asked a couple of the staff, the reason for a smaller than usual burrito. Well it was an error in placing the order. I've been going to this place for years. In fact, they just celebrated their 40th anniversary. I can't begin to express how bad this restaurant has become. It's obvious that they have new owners and the franchise has completely deteriorated. The chips have no taste the meat and chicken taste like fish and the rice is soggy. Not only is the food putrid, the price is continue to go up. I had dinner there last night with my daughter and in the middle of the meal they mopped up all the floors with Pine-Sol, which pretty much ended my stay sadly I will never be returning again. I walk in and order a chicken tostada to go, with simmered chicken, wait maybe ten minutes, not bad at all, get called, grab the bag and head home. The parking is a little small and has big humps so it's hard to get into but there is enough parking in the plaza. It is a small quiet establishment with each table only seating two people. We took our food to go instead. The quality of the food was fresh - got a shrimp and steak burrito. The shrimp were a bit overcooked but the steak had good flavor & not a lot of fat (should've just gotten a steak burrito). The salsas they have are delicious and I especially liked the green one with good flavor and a little bit of a kick! The staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable. They also have agua frescas and the hibiscus one has the perfect amount of flavor without being too overly sweetened like a lot places. If you like strawberries I suggest you get the chia strawberry agua fresca - it was super refreshing and actually tasted like real strawberries. Overall, nothing too special about this place but if you're looking for fast Mexican food in the area I suggest you give them a try. read more

I walked in at 1:45pm and there were 3 tables. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and a drink. I watched 5 people come in after me and they all got their food whether it was Togo or for here. I then come up to the counter and ask where my food is and some kid tells me that food ordered for here comes before Togo. Ummmmmmm, no it doesn't. Then the manager Mayra tells me the tickets go in order. Well I was before the 5 people that came in and they all got their food. Help me make sense of this stupidity! Do better! It's not that hard! They seem to have made it more spacious since the last time I was here pre-pandemic, which is good -- more seating, and even TVs to watch the NBA finals! I went in and got excellent help, I later ordered with Mayra who sent me the order via text. When I went in to pick up, I thought someone was turning 40 like my daughter did this year with all the decorations. Turns out Poquito Mas was turning 40!! I met the owners-- so special.
