I was really hoping that this would be an amazing restaurant. One look from the outside and it naturally draws you in to try it, it's beautiful. When you walk inside the decor is very neat, an industrial feel (which is odd for a Mexican restaurant but I can dig it) with nice heavy chairs and fine wooden tables. However, the food is the most important part, the chips were average but the salsa is not good at all. It has the consistency of tomato juice and does not have any body, it's bland and requires some salt and pepper. It has some spice which is nice however. We got some queso which was very nice and probably my favorite part. For my entree I got the combo fajitas which they got wrong and brought out chicken, but they quickly corrected it and our waiter was very helpful and friendly (their service is probably one of the best things about this place). However when they came out again the chicken was below mediocre, it tasted like sautéed chicken that I make at home with just salt and pepper. The beef was much better, that coupled with their tasty corn tortillas it was good, but I didn't finish the chicken. The beans it came with were again very bland and did not have any flavor, they tasted like ranch beans and onion, I left those untouched. The peppers it came in were drenched in liquid and none of the fajitas had any charred marks that you would expect from them. Basically, I felt like I got two steak tacos with no sides for the price of fajitas. Overall, I wish I would have gone to the funky door a couple of blocks down for this birthday meal. I won't be back here again, not because it was terrible or the service was bad, just because its extremely forgettable and mediocre and I won't remember it as an option when deciding which restaurant to go to next time I want Mexican food. Such a disappointment. This is a new restaurant and we were excited to try it. First, the decor doesn't really jive with a Mexican joint nor is it cohesive. It's mostly decorated like a hipster bar with modernist lines, metal pipe lights, sheet metal art etc. And then there's fake drift wood benches that just don't match. The music is also odd but at least it wasn't too loud. When we walked in there was no hostess. There were lots of employees wondering around including one leaning on the half wall watching us enter. The manager was walking around too, saw us and ignored us. Although our party was just two there was another twosome that walked in with us. We were all waiting to be seated. Finally got seated. Onto the food. It was totally canned. All tasted like it came from a tin. Salsa wasn't the least spicy and looked and tasted like Pace. Chips were good. Our food came out VERY fast. Too fast and the skin on the sauce said it had been sitting a bit. I got a combo with an enchilada, relleno and taco. Totally unremarkable and white-washed. Enchilada tortillas was greasy. Relleno sauce was velveta. Bummer. Husband had a chimi and it was also velveta. His dinner came with pappas that looked and tasted like O'brian potatoes in a bag. Bummer. We won't be back. Came to Picoso's to give it a try...not coming back. I love a good fish taco and was happy to see the fish was cod and not tilapia. When the plate came out the fish was shredded and not much on the taco. There was more red cabbage than fish. This place is overpriced for what they give you. It's really nice inside and love the decor but the food has gotta be better. Not happy with the service either. Overall not a good experience. read more

Not a clue what she's done or where she's been. Brings out food after 30 minutes, and it's all wrong. Turns out she didn't put in the order. Tries to get us to take the wrong order, then tries to pawn it on others as well. Finally brings the correct order. In the end, brings the wrong ticket. Food was reasonable...no complaints. Service? I have a tendency to be critical of Tex-Mex food, since I really like authentic hole in the wall places. Picoso's was great and the price was good! My wife and I ordered a Grande platter that had plenty of food and the relleno was one of the best in the city. The portion was huge and we are not small people! This place is beautiful, and when you go inside it's very clean and well put together. Our waiter was awesome, so it gets an extra star. Now for the food, The salsa was terrible. Tasted like something straight out of a can. The food was over priced and you don't get much with it. I only gave it 1 star because 0 wasn't an option! If you have read any of my reviews you would know that I'm very positive and generally am very easy to please . With that being said this was the worst experience i have had in a restaurant that i can remember! I don't even know where to begin. The building is gorgeous and we were very excited to try the food ! We sat down a fairly large party . 6 adults and 2 kids .. it took about 10 mins before we were greeted .. then the server brought us chips and salsa ..not a terrible start but definitely not great .. by the time he came back about 15 mins had gone by and we had been eating chips and salsa we were very parched and still hadn't even put in a beverage order ... by the time he came back we decided to order our food as well ...then about another 15 mins we finally got our drinks.. and water ... the food came out about 15 mins after the cilantro lime chicken was very dry and had a rubber texture ... the kids Mac and cheese was a slop pile of queso with hardly any noodles .. the street tacos had to be taken back three times due to the server not listening to very simple modification requests .. we ordered a corn dog for my nephew because the Mac and cheese was so terrible .. ..it came back frozen in the middle .. we had to ask a server who wasn't ours for refills because ours had been missing and was only at out table maybe 3 times the whole Time we were there . finally we asked to speak to a manager and he came . At this point the list of things wrong was overwhelming.. he expressed his apology and i got the vibe that it wasn't very sincere... at this point he gave us a 15% discount off a very large bill that we didn't really even eat or enjoy ... let me express that we are " restaurant people " and understand how the business works .. definitely not looking for a hand out of to weasel and free meal . But the food as well as the service was terrible... so we paid our bill and left .. took boxes for the over priced food that i will feed to the dogs .. if they will eat it haha ... i definitely would not recommend this place and will never be back ! I understand that things will not always be perfect when you go to a new restaurant have to work out the kinks .. but at least make it right and take care of people when they are unhappy .. i don't feel like this was done in the least bit ! When we asked for fresh guacamole we were told it was "the recipe" that makes it that way, as if we can't identify old guacamole. The food is bland and overpriced and the service was lacking. Food service was very very slow. Waited on queso and had to ask twice. They brought out all the condiments for the fajitas and the meat 10 minutes later. We complained to the manger, she apologized and said she was going to the kitchen to see what was going on and we never saw her again. When the waitress, who was wonderful and doing the best she could, brought us the ticket, we basically told her we were not paying for the fajitas. Really appreciate this restaurant. They have been very accommodating as far as COVID and have a great patio and great food as well. We took my son there for his birthday, and despite a mix up with the reservation service, they figured out a way to put us on the patio as requested despite being very busy. Many restaurants will not go to this effort and it honestly meant a great deal to us that they were able to seat us. It very much took a bad situation and made it work as well as we could have hoped. We went there on 12/12/18 for my birthday and the service was the worst. Our chip bowl was always empty. We asked the waiter for a third bowl because there was 8 people and he didn't bring it. The waiter was slow and we had to wait along time for food. The water glasses were always empty. The food cokes was bland and flavorless. The queso was just melted cheese nothing special. The waiter spent more time talking with his other two tables than working. Someone else had to bring his food tray out for him. I really don't think there's a reason to go back. Went for my husband's birthday and we were seated very quickly. Our waiter was very nice and helpful. His name was Riley. The food was delicious and the mix drinks were perfect. We loved the atmosphere. All the fixtures, tables, and chair were top notch. The only thing that was disappointing was the flatware. Linen napkins wrapped the cheap fork and knife. Service was outstanding! I wish I remembered our servers name because she was GREAT! Food was good, except for the mac & cheese both of my granddaughters ordered, it was terrible! We went here for a birthday dinner, and there was 10 of us so I would expect the food to take a little longer, but it took over 45 minutes to get our order. We were there on a Monday night when it was not that busy, so over 45 minutes was excessive to wait for food. I've known the owner and her family for years so I was excited to eat there, sadly I was disappointed tonight. It's unanimous. We've now had lunch and dinner here. It's wonderful. The menu has a wide selection. There is a wonderful old school flavor to each dish. We're in town for a graduation and had a party of 12. Tried to get into Abuelos but over an hour and a half wait on a Thursday night which is crazy. Called over to Picosos and they were able to get us in right away. This was our first time to visit Picosos and I came away thinking this was the best mexican restaurant in the LBK and it's not even close. Had a trio of street tacos and they were fantastic. Others had fajitas and nachos all outstanding. Bartender was great and our waitress was awesome. Really nice decor as well. We'll be back next time we come to town!! read more

There is a state ordinance saying that masks are required. It is unbelievable that not only is it not enforced for patrons, but for their own staff. Completely insane to me. Do better. Was excited to try this place upon hearing it was affiliated with Leals but ugh nothing compared to Leals at all. The drinks were overpriced as well as the rest of the menu. If you want good mexican food go to Leals or the Plaza. They also messed up my order. I ordered a vegetarian chimi which seems to be an easy modification and when I got mine it was full of meat which defeats the purpose of ordering vegetarian. They remade it but it took more than 20mins and by then the other people in my party were about done eating. I wasn't impressed with their remake either. Would rather go to caboose for a veg chimi. Then they over charged us we noticed a few days later they gave themselves a 30% tip saying they mixed it up with someone else. Not sure if true, but it took all day to get this resolved and all they did was offer back the difference to us. Won't be back. read more

The server didn't even offer to take an unheated plate back to the kitchen and warm it though he agreed it was not warm. I dislike bad reviews as I like to see businesses succeed. Grilled chicken thighs were outstanding, moist and juicy. Not many Mexican restaurants serve roasted meats. Green Chile Queso was too salty and regular Queso was gritty. Gotta work on that as a Mexican restaurant in Texas has to make good Queso. Margaritas on the rocks were the bomb. read more

Very disappointed today. My wife and I arrived at Picoso's at 2:30 to forgo the Sunday lunch crowd. The restaurant was almost empty so we were hoping for a decent table. After being offered a table just inside the front door immediately next to the register, I requested a better table more towards the interior of the dining area. The hostess then escorted us to a tiny 2-seater table immediately next to the kitchen door. Again, the dining room was at least 85 percent empty! I'm not sure if the hostess does not understand the way people perceive some tables as less desirable than others, or if she was simply indifferent to the dining enjoyment of customers.
