I found the place via Yelp, and it's about 2 miles from our warehouse. They have a good variety of choices. There is the fish & and chips side of the menu, and there is a Hawaiian style menu. I ordered a 2 piece fish & chips and side of cole slaw. I believe they make their own tartar sauce, too. The fish was nice and crispy but got soggy because I doused it with malt vinegar...lol The fries were a little cold, but that could've been due to drive back and not eating there. Pier 1 Fish N Chips has been a great and consistent choice for a meal that's close to home! So far, I've tried their fish n chips, popcorn shrimp, and teriyaki chicken plate. The fish n chips, their signature, features some wonderfully breaded and fried fish. While it can be a bit heavy on the oil (since it's fried and all...), the taste is great and the fry is crispy and not too dry. Tartar sauce rounds out the fish very well! The fries were also good, being fresh (not refried) and not overly salty. The popcorn shrimp was decent, but a bit small at times and a bit hard if you take too long to eat it. I'd probably only order a small side of it if I was craving it. I love their teri chicken plate when I'm in the mood for something healthier. The chicken is grilled well, leaving juicy pieces of chicken in a light drizzle of teriyaki sauce on a bed of rice. Fried Zucchini chips! Located in the same strip mall as the LA fitness and other eateries, this is a small to go location with only a few indoor seats. Menu is split between fried seafood and Hawaiian style mixed plates. Parking is readily available since there are spots reserved for non gym patrons. I was craving fried zucchini. Haven't been here in awhile and it's changed from spears to chips. As mentioned in another post, the zucchini is slightly under seasoned- but if you're planning to dip in ranch- who needs the extra sodium. But I love how light and crispy the coating is on the zucchini. I ate them so fast that I'm not sure how they hold up when left out and cold. The coating is like a very light tempura that actually crunches when you bite into them. Different from some of the other fried zucchinis that are breaded. I personally prefer this costing over the breaded type. 9/10 I ordered the 1/2 chicken 1/2 short rib plate. chicken and short ribs are the standard Hawaiian plate type. It comes with a side of blanched veggies (broccoli, carrots, cabbage) that also is under seasoned. Which may be better for those who need to avoid salt. But what I love on this plate is the potato salad. I'm generally not a potato salad fan, but there's just had a great taste and slight sweetness to it. They only give a small scoop. I have ordered a separate side in the past in a larger container to enjoy at home. Plate lunch is 7/10. I give the potato salad a 10/10 but it's a bit pricey. Staff are friendly. I've only tried the fish. The fish is decent. It's swai though, not cod. 1 piece is $4.50. That's a bit much for swai which is a much lesser quality fish. Swai is much cheaper than cod, sometimes costing a third to a quarter as much. Swai is imported from fish farms that may use excessive chemicals and antibiotics, which can pollute the water and cause health concerns. read more

Really solid quick eats in Montebello. I think fish and chips is generally pretty subpar but I think Pier 1 makes it pretty well. I think it has to do with the way they batter the fish. I also really like their fried shrimp. I usually opt for some combo where I can have both. I haven't had the heart to try any of their other dishes just because their deep fried fish and shrimp are so much better than other places. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because it's not necessarily worth driving out of your way for, but if you're looking for a delicious and quick dinner option in this area, you should hit up Pier 1 Fish N Chips. read more

A little gem of a place. We got the teri salmon bowl, salmon salad, fried chicken, and fried zucchini (OMG the zucchini!!). Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing.
