Haven't eaten at Ono Hawaiian for a while, so decided to order online / delivery with a special promo code. I ordered 4 chicken katsu plates. Chicken was crispy. Mac salad was okay, slightly bland. There was one tiny piece of broccoli with the bed of cabbage. Cabbage used to have more flavor, but this time tasted like it was steamed / boiled with no flavoring. Only BIG negative was, the sauce containers were half the size of what they once were. I normally use 2 of the older larger containers of sauce per order, so getting this smaller one left me kind of disappointed. After eating a few pieces of chicken, I was out of sauce. (Sad Face)... Eating chicken katsu by itself is very oily and unpleasant for the stomach. The website also does not have a place to request extra sauces or make special requests. Would I order again? Sure! We were immediately surprised by the atmosphere of this restaurant it was nicer than we were expecting and a lot bigger too so it was easy to find seating. We ordered crab rangoons, beef musubi, and the island fire chicken which we got pretty quick while still being fresh. The rangoons and musubi were pretty good nothing too special but the island fire chicken was definitely the star of the show. The sauce and the spice in the chicken were a lot more tastier than I was expecting and I thought, compared to some other Hawaiian bbq places I've been, it seemed higher quality. This Ono's is in the plaza with the Daiso not to be mistaken with the other plaza with the chipotle and panda express. I ordered a chicken katsu plate with no rice (all mac salad) with a large soda and 3 crab rangoons. The chicken katsu plate is definitely enough for two meals. Some of the other island favorites like the bbq beef and chicken are good for 3 meals. Personally, I like doing all mac salad because I can make rice at home. As far as I know, they do not charge you money to substitute the rice for mac salad. The crab rangoons are okay. It's not bad but tastes like a typical crab rangoon. One thing I really wish they had here is sriracha. I feel like that would be way better than hot sauce on my meal. The teriyaki sauce and the katsu sauce is super good, I recommend taking lots of those little cups home. Would I go here again? Yeah 100%. As a fast food chain the general expectation is usually quality control and speed but here they were above and beyond. I was greeted by a super friendly worker that was more than happy to explain to me the menu and recommended the best value for my cravings. The foods were on point and I just love the macaroni salad they make. They even put effort into interior improvement to give you the Hawaiian feel. What really got me to give it a 5 star rating is actually the plastic bags at the sauce bar. They were conveniently placed and thoughtfully rolled so that we can easily put take the sauces to-go. Food did get a bit cold when I got home through all the traffic. It is a bit difficult to reheat with the salad in the same box as the meat and rice. There is a quality control problem at this Ono. Don't bother to customize your order at this Ono. I have never had this problem at the other branches but this location doesn't pay attention. On the first visit with my 3 co workers, we placed our orders in line and thought we beat the lunch rush since there was 10 customers behind us. However, 30 minutes has passed and our orders weren't still ready as well as noticed the people behind us were all gone before us. We asked them what's the status and found out they messed up on our order. On my second visit, I had to order from here since my co worker requested this food for their birthday luncheon. I decided to order it online doing 2 family meals with additions as well as take advantage of the 20% off promo for ordering online. So I decided to place the order online 7 days early since it allowed you to do that. I called the day before to confirm my order and they said yes they have received it. I came right at 11:00 am for pick up and the order was not ready at all. They said due to order being rejected they didn't start making the order and something to do with the point of sale system error. The employee should've called me and let me know before arriving, but never did. Also, I didn't get the email till later. The employee told me to pay in store and I told them to honor the price since it wasn't my fault. The employee tried to bring it down to the price, but was only able to bring it to $97.41 instead of $96.77. I told her just go ahead to charge me and give me two sodas for it. I reminded her to make sure they separate the beef, chicken, veggies, and rice since it was for a birthday party, however, once I got them it wasn't so I luckily brought my own pan foils ahead of time to separate it in case they mess up the order. Overall experience is terrible and unorganized for being twice at the same location, but the food was really good.
