I'm a regular at this Ono Hawaiian location and honestly, it's one of my reliable go-to spots. The place is usually clean, has plenty of seating and most of the staff are polite and welcoming. Yes, food can take a little longer when they're busy, but that just tells me it's being made fresh so it's understandable and not a dealbreaker for me. When it's not busy, food is served very quickly. My go-to order is the BBQ mini meal with rice, no veggies, and extra mac salad because their mac salad is so good. Can't forget extra teriyaki sauce on the side! When I'm in the mood for something crispy, I go for the fried shrimp with some katsu sauce for dipping... SO good, every single time.

My family's go-to spot for the fish plate. The fried fish is always freshly made, great portions with leafy salad that now comes with croutons. The teriyaki sauce and katsu sauce goes well with the rice. The 3 scoops of rice is too much for the meal but I bring it home and eat it with my other meals. Service is fine. Sometimes we need to ask for the tartar sauce if it's missing from our bag but overall it is fine.

Thought I'd give them another chance ordered the usual bbq mix this time with an extra scoop of mac they shorted me on the veggies so no veggies and the short rib was definitely missing meat and they they charged more for the extra scoop Less meat no veggies Hope the manager or owner corrects this soon

What I Ordered: -Hawaiian BBQ Mix $16.49 3 Mac/1 Veg Beatrice was very helpful in giving me the rundown of what's popular here. I decided to go with the Hawaiian BBQ Mix with 3 sides of Macaroni Salad and 1 side of vegetables. I heard that you could substitute the rice for Macaroni Salad, and I was sold. In hindsight, I should have ordered one side of rice as it would have paired well with all the meat, but the Macaroni Salad was pretty good. I will definitely be back to get this order again, as it was very delicious.

We were in the mood for some Hawaiian BBQ and saw that Ono was close by and a place we have been wanting to give a try so we went there to see how it compares to other places. We were immediately surprised by the atmosphere of this restaurant it was nicer than we were expecting and a lot bigger too so it was easy to find seating. We ordered crab rangoons, beef musubi, and the island fire chicken which we got pretty quick while still being fresh. The rangoons and musubi were pretty good nothing too special but the island fire chicken was definitely the star of the show. The sauce and the spice in the chicken were a lot more tastier than I was expecting and I thought, compared to some other Hawaiian bbq places I've been, it seemed higher quality. With the great friendly service and the great food at a substantial quality I would recommend this place when the Hawaiian bbq craving hits!

Order lunch here since they have this promo for aloha plates for $6 until March 6. This is the second time we ordered here- we got fish aloha plates and they taste good. They got affordable meals and they all look good.

This Ono's is in the plaza with the Daiso not to be mistaken with the other plaza with the chipotle and panda express. I ordered a chicken katsu plate with no rice (all mac salad) with a large soda and 3 crab rangoons. The chicken katsu plate is definitely enough for two meals. Some of the other island favorites like the bbq beef and chicken are good for 3 meals. Personally, I like doing all mac salad because I can make rice at home. As far as I know, they do not charge you money to substitute the rice for mac salad. The crab rangoons are okay. It's not bad but tastes like a typical crab rangoon. One thing I really wish they had here is sriracha. I feel like that would be way better than hot sauce on my meal. The teriyaki sauce and the katsu sauce is super good, I recommend taking lots of those little cups home. Would I go here again? Yeah 100%. Although, I would recommend the business to get a sriracha bottle on the side because the hot sauce is not that good.

As a fast food chain the general expectation is usually quality control and speed but here they were above and beyond. I was greeted by a super friendly worker that was more than happy to explain to me the menu and recommended the best value for my cravings. The foods were on point and I just love the macaroni salad they make. They even put effort into interior improvement to give you the Hawaiian feel. What really got me to give it a 5 star rating is actually the plastic bags at the sauce bar. They were conveniently placed and thoughtfully rolled so that we can easily put take the sauces to-go. Food did get a bit cold when I got home through all the traffic. It is a bit difficult to reheat with the salad in the same box as the meat and rice. Definitely recommend to consume while still hot/warm.

What's even crazier is that I've been a diehard bone-in/traditional wings believer, but bb.q Chicken's boneless wings converted me to the dark side. In fact, I will shamelessly admit that I only ever order their boneless wings here after having tried them. Unlike other places' boneless wings, which use dry white meat (an absolute abomination IMHO), bb.q Chicken uses actual dark meat and are actual "boneless wings." The Cheesling flavor is to die for. Get the limited time Buldak Cheesling flavor for a special spicy kick. If you want an alcoholic drink with your chicken, I suggest sticking with beer or bottled soju. Their soju cocktails are pretty weak and have a strange pre-mixed flavor to them.

I love how sturdy the packaging is, it comes neatly packed in cute cardboard boxes. The food is always consistent, and I have never had a bad experience. My go to flavors are: Spicy original-- crispy crunchy with a hint of spice Cheesling--- A dry rub nicely dusted with their house cheese powder and a hint of sweetness. Gangnam style-- Wet seasoning with a savory and sweet soy forward taste, with a strong pepper flavor. You'll also get pickeled radish cubes, which provides a refreshing compliment to the strong flavors of the chicken. This place never disappoints.

Came here on high praise from several friends from NE China who grew up with BBQ like this and said…read moreit also takes inspiration from North Korean style. It also seems this is one of the few places in socal with a license to cook with charcoal indoors, which is a bit of a bummer. Place was not too busy when we went but the center it's in is a bit small and can be tough to park. The service is pretty typical for a Chinese place. I found them more attentive than average honestly and they were always available when we flagged them down which I can't say for a lot of places, so service was overall good in my opinion. Place is AYCE, two person minimum, 2 hour time limit but are generous. You can get water or hot/cold wheat tea which was good, similar to barley tea. They can change out your grill at any time and add charcoal if the fire starts to die down, which you'll want since you want to be cooking meat quick over a high heat to make the most of your time here and get the best cook on your meat. To me the standouts were the beef tongue, boneless beef shortrib, and this cold cut you don't cook that I forget the name of. The beef tongue particularly really had everything going for it. Great balance of flavor between fat and muscle, a little chew but not too much like some bad tongue has. Super thin so fast to cook and easy to eat. Everything else was good but nothing KBBQ doesn't have a better version of (looking at you marinated beef). The charcoal flavor is gonna be a unique element so take that as you will. I'm told in China every place like this has its own 'signature sauce' and I guess the one here is the sesame sauce that is quite sweet, creamy, and perfectly thin for dipping. I followed the pro here and added green onions, cilantro, vinegar, and soy sauce to taste and it helped balance out the flavors for me but I still found myself preferring to eat the meat on its own most of the time which was a bummer as dipping between sauces is a nice way to change things up as you eat the same cuts of meat for 2 hours. The shortrib is incredibly juicy and delicious. I found the steak cuts my least favorite as they were a bit tough and lacking flavor. If you pay in cash you'll get a 16oz cup of their INCREDIBLE yogurt so I highly recommend, but you also get small cups of this at the end of your meal. It has a high fresh acidity like freshly squeezed lime juice balanced with sweetness that really makes this yogurt bangarang and super addicting. So much so I bought two things to go and wish I got more! Owner was a total sweetheart too. Def a great place to hit especially for the charcoal element and world-class yogurt but otherwise my favorite KBBQ spots are still gonna be my go-to for everything else.
