Probably tied for the worst dining experience I have ever had. Made a reservation online for dinner at 7. When making the reservation there were several times we could pick, but then I had a few people in our group say they were running late. I called to change the reservation to 7:30 and the person who answered the phone with a bad attitude said they did not see a reservation under the name and asked who we made the reservation with. I told them that it was booked online, the person then said they don't deal with online bookings and that there were no available reservations. So we decided to show up at 7 and hoped the others joining us would be able to get there before 7:30. When we arrived and said we had a reservation the person who greeted us looked like they were having a bad night and said it would be a 15 min wait. We finally got to our table and the waitress starts taking our order, I go to order a gin cocktail that was on the menu and the waitress looked at me with a disgusting looking on her face and said "if you don't drink gin then you don't want that, it's gross". So I ordered something else. When she came back to get food orders I went to order the clam chowder soup and the waitress said "trust me, you don't want that" I laughed and said well that's what I was wanting to order, she said, " honey you should never order soup for dinner, that shits been sitting out all day". So I ordered something else. We all shared the food we ordered so we could try things out, the oysters were ok but everything thing else was overdone and chewy. The fish was not great. when we went to order one last round of shots (because alcohol would help us get over the terrible meal) the waitress said "i can bring those out but only if you order one for me too"! Absolutely love this place! The food is flown in fresh and always amazing. They have great drinks and just a wonderful atmosphere. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and the owners can typically be found floating around the restaurant mingling with the guests. It's everything you could want or need from a seafood restaurant in Downtown Indy. We like to enjoy romantic nights out for dinner and drinks or a family night with the kids. It's also directly across the street from Banker's Life Fieldhouse, which makes it great for catching a bite before a game or event. I can't say enough great things about this place! read more

My fiancé and I tried this place last night for a nice date night. The food and atmosphere was great! The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the service. Our server dropped off our food and never returned. I was out of water and we both wanted to order another drink. We both finished our meals and were left waiting for her to come back. Obviously at this point we no longer wanted more drinks and just decided to end our night. Next time I want to spend this kind of money, I'll stick to one of the many great steakhouses around Indy. read more

Everything else was downhill from there. The drinks never arrived. The main courses were served and we had to ask for them. They were sitting at the bar the whole time! This is the description: Four large pan-seared scallops on a bed of Parmesan risotto, pancetta crisp, and drizzled with an herb sauce What it's really like: Scallops and Risotto drizzled with Thai Duck Sauce EVERYWHERE. You cannot taste anything else. That Duck Sauce overpowered everything. And who seriously puts that over risotto and Scallops??? That's the "herb" sauce??? My wife had the blackened monkfish which looked like a winner but was so incredibly salty you couldn't taste anything else! The place was so understaffed it had one server for all the outdoor tables. He was nice enough, but having to cover that many tables is gonna take a toll. There was only one bartender and she was obviously pretty stressed. On a Saturday night, that's pretty crazy. After we ordered drinks and food, our server brought my wine then 5 mins later the other cocktail was delivered. Carl our server was great. Very detailed and was probably the best waiter we've ever had. The food was pretty good as well. We went for our anniversary and even got a free dessert from our choosing. The only reason why I'm not giving a 5 star is because we were under the impression that the market price for the lobster was 24 ( it was listed on a separate menu) plus 16 for the mussels and clams, but when the bill came the lobster was 51 plus 12. To me that is over priced, but more so the lack of transparency is the real issue.(We did not complain about the price for full disclosure). Overall it has a nice atmosphere and great service. I met a friend from out of town last night. My first time in a restaurant since March. They are definitely taking safety measures and I appreciate that. More importantly, the food. OMG! We had amazing oysters, I had fried lobster over grits and my friend had a hot lobster roll! Oh and clam chowder. And our cocktails were delicious too! It was all so good and you could tell the seafood was fresh! We had a little mix-up with the bill (honest mistake and no big deal), but the guy (TJ/TR? I can't recall), but he went above and beyond to resolve the issue. I would have gone back for the food alone, but with the excellent customer service, my visit will be sooner rather than later! Great location and space. The lobster roll is good, but I was not impressed with anything aside from that. The chargrilled oysters were very small and more butter than anything else. I ordered a margarita and it literally tasted like a Jose Cuervo mix. Blackened monkfish tasted very "reheated" and didn't have any element of freshness to it. read more

My fiancé and I have been getting curbside pickup at different restaurants around the city on Saturdays as part of our modified date night amid the pandemic. This afternoon was the first time we had Pier 48. We both got the New York Strip (we ordered medium but should've went with medium rare -- the meat was a bit overcooked). For the price point, there are much better steaks in the city (see Prime 47 or Ocean Prime). The sides were also a mixed bag, with the Brussels sprouts and roasted carrots leaving much to be desired. The risotto and mashed potatoes, on the other hand? Fantastic. The bread pudding and ice cream were also delightful. I get the sense that Pier 48 probably shines more with its seafood, burgers and desserts, so I'll be interested to return for those. read more

As a first-time experience was disappointed. We had a reservation at 4:30 we were seated and did not get a waiter to check on us or waters until about 5 meanwhile a table diagonal received undivided attention. It was no crowd at that time. When we finally got a server she was nice. Two people of our party received food and was almost done as the other 4 people waited. We asked the manager about our food he went to check and said we already had our food but yet we had no plates or anything. How insulting..... He then said the kitchen said it was sent out. He later comes back with our food but it was cold. I ordered some food to go as we checked our bags it was not what we ordered. At one point the manager Brandon said "let me try and change this C- experience to an A. He didnt make any effort to do that at all. He did not come back and check on us. He avoided us. Yet went to the table next to us and apologized and comp their meal who also did not receive there food and was running late to the game as other tables continued go finish their meals. Just as we did. Our waiter asked the table buser if she could grab a to go bag for the table and she told her NO. It was so much more. General Manager Brandon, made it clear in spoken and unspoken terms that our experience didn't matter. I honestly wish our experience was so much better we've heard so many great things. We initially chose this restaurant because it was close by Baker's life and they had a happy hour. One of my friends had previously been to this place and had recommended we go there. She had stated the prices were affordable and the food was good. When we arrived we were told that happy hour was not happening due to there being an event at Bakers life. We were also given a "special event menu" where there was less food on the menu and the prices were much higher than they were a few week prior when my friend had tried this place out. Put off by this information I decided to get the cheapest thing on the menu which was a $14 ceaser salad with grilled chicken. My salad was the size of a side salad and I was extremely dissatisfied.
