I was in the mood for something different, so I tried the Coach's Lounge in Huntington Beach. The second I walked in I was bombarded by a live band which, although quite good, was extremely loud. The smooth stone floors and the high ceilings enhanced the volume. I had such a hard time hearing the gentleman who greeted me at the door and my waitress as well. PROS: The staff were very polite; very professional. The food was very good too. But if you're looking for a place to have a quiet dinner with a date or just a low-key establishment, you may want to go elsewhere. This is why I now bring earplugs. CONS: I will say that this restaurant CHARGES EXTRA if you want to use your credit card. That is a big pet peeve of mine. Thankfully, I had enough cash. Also, make sure you check your receipt. This restaurant does another thing that I can't stand and that's put a "suggested tip" at the bottom of the receipt, starting with a whopping THIRTY PERCENT being the first listed. AND they figure tip on the entire bill after tax, when it should be figured on the sub-total alone. Otherwise, if you're wanting good food, something loud, raucous, and you don't mind shouting at your guests throughout the evening, this place is just right for you. read more

My 1st time here. I'm so glad they finally opened. Great place for happy hour 11-6pm M-F. The prices are good. The drink specials are good. I had the Coconut Shrimp, Chicken Wings and the Mediterranean Flatbread. The Coconut Shrimp was the best out of the 3. I live in the MOFFETT tract so I will try everything eventually. I have been to Coach's in DTHB, and had a good experience. I was eager to try the newly opened location on Mag & Adams (where long time tenant Lucci's used to be). Four of us ordered the lamb kebab. The meat was nicely marinated, tender and seasoned well. None of us had any complaints. Secondarily the rice was moist and the veggies were very fresh. Regarding the ambiance, its fancy here. There is a long bar to your keft as you enter, and a loungey area to your right of the main dining area. The dining area is big and open. I heard this new location can accommodate 300 people. Our waiter was super nice and kept our drinks refilled. The owner (whose last name is Coach), was present and friendly. He gave us complimentary baklava that was very tasty. Coach's is on our rotation for after golf. The food is hearty & reasonably priced, and the ambiance and service are nice. read more

Tuesday evening was the day our senior Yoga crew rendezvoused to celebrate! The "Lounge" is big and open and has a high ceiling and great light! My daughter and I came to coach's to meet my dad for lunch, and everything was fabulous from start to finish. Coach and his business partner greeted us at the table, which was very kind, and our server, Edgar, was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and gave good recommendations. I love the ambiance of the restaurant and the decor was very nice. That being said, We started with the calamari, which was excellent. Dad enjoyed his lentil soup starter, & for mains: we both had the lamb- which was superb, and the kiddo had spaghetti + meatballs+ pizza. My favourite was the lamb. It was flavourful, tender, delicious, and didn't taste gamey at all. I would definitely order it again. Calamari was an excellent choice for a starter as it was cooked to perfection- it was soft, airy in the best way, and not too heavy on the batter and breading. Highly recommend. At the end of our meal, coach brought out some delicious chocolate ice cream for my kiddo, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, we loved our dining experience at coach's. The restaurant is beautiful, food portions are generous, service is first class, and a good time was had by all. We look forward to visiting again :) read more

Our family of five stopped by Coaches Lounge for Easter lunch--mainly because they were open--and we're so glad we did! First impression: this place is beautiful. The attention to detail makes it feel upscale but still super comfortable. You can sit at regular tables or relax in their couch-style seating, which is perfect for groups. The vibe is great for pretty much anything--date night, girls'/guys' night, birthdays, or even bigger celebrations like wedding dinners, baby showers etc. Definitely a classy spot. Service was friendly and on point, and the food did not disappoint. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. Must-tries: gyro quesadillas, Margherita pizza, steak frites, wedge salad, and the chicken and beef kabobs. Drinks and dessert were also really good. Bonus: plenty of parking and a nice ocean breeze that makes the whole experience even better. We'll definitely be back--and bringing friends next time to try their happy hour! Went on a Thursday evening, quiet with about 20 diners. Beautiful renovation, lovely bar, beautiful wine "cellar" and gracious hostesses and servers. Menu is diverse, many Mediterranean dishes. Had the Short Ribs and it was truly amazing and perfect, girlfriend had the Chicken Kabob which was savory, marinated well and plentiful with saffron rice, took home the extras. Onion soup was very good, lentil soup was perfect. Wine list is ample. Coach's is large, where long time tenant Lucci's had departed (Adams & Magnolia). Looks like on a busy weekend it'd be nightclub fare, tonight it was excellent, almost intimate and the food was beautifully prepared, flavorful and excellent. We'll be going back! P.S. Near miss. Assuming locals were anticipating a good meal with some happy hour deals Figure the demographics, this place missed the mark. Drinks were good and so was the appetizer but it was so over the top for the zip code. Not to say HBer's will pay for a good meal but we're likely to drive near the coast for a special location. We sat and witnessed scores of people walk in and out because they either couldn't accommodate them for happy hour or it wasn't the vibe they anticipated. We came to this different location of the Coach's chain in Huntington Beach and found a very large, elegant entertaining venue with stage and piano. The place was empty except for us at 6 pm on Wednesday. We came to dine expecting the same menu as the Coach's on Main Street but were disappointed that is was changed and reduced. We ordered the Mediterranean Delight for Two as usual but it was meager. There was no tabouleh or falaffel. When we asked why, they said they do not serve tabouleh! WOW! What a disappointment. No Falaffel either?! We do like the Main Street restaurant so that's where we will go next time. Nice people all around. read more

Came for lunch and was surprised to find they have Happy Hour from 11am to 6pm with some great food options and cocktails, wine and beer at great prices. It's beautiful in here with lovely natural light that is enhanced by the lighted marble fixtures. Excellent service of course with Coach himself taking time for each guest. Tried the newest restaurant in Huntington Beach last night. Located in the old Lucci's location Adams and Magnolia. The place is huge! Seats 200 people and nicely decorated. Food is very reasonable and delicious! The owner whose name is Coach visited all tables to be sure service and food was as expected. I recommend the lamb kabobs and great Turkish coffee. The restaurant is very beautiful...but the acoustics are lacking. Couldn't hear husband across the small table. Waited 20 minutes after being seated but the owner Coach came of personally took our order. Great man. The bar was full due to the happy hour menu. People were having a great time. Lovely background music. We ordered the rack of lamb for two, a salad to share, and calamari for an appetizer. We were comped the appetizer because the lamb would take extra time. Salad came and we only had appetizer plates to use. The menu showed lots of vegetables around the lamb. It came with three springs of asparagus and four slivers of carrots and a pile of mashed potatoes. Also had appetizer plates instead of dinner plates. We were comped two delicious pieces of baklava. Total bill with tip? $250.00 It is a beautiful restaurant and we wish them the best. We will not be returning. Suggested going for the happy hour menu and enjoying the venue. Excellent quality food the MUHAMMARA is a hummus from Syria. That's unlike anything you've ever tasted. Roasted red peppers some chili flakes and a bunch of other ingredients makes this a phenomenal spicy hummus. They serve it with pita bread. It's absolutely delicious for an appetizer and I had the chicken kebabs and they were spiced too perfection. The happy hour is excellent with beers at six dollars and house wines of good quality at seven dollars and they have a bunch of very good items for $10 for the happy hour menu. I went to Coachs to hear my favorite band play!!! There was NO seating as a single person except at the bar, a distance away from the music. Half the lounge was blocked off and said reserved. I was put in a chair at the staff table. In over an hour, not 1 of the reserved areas was being used. No one offered to serve me, no drink, no menu, nothing. The owner was very rude to me! 4 gals went to Coach's last night. Ambiance was by nice. Wait staff were excellent . Ample wine list. I will say we were disappointed in our meal. The New York strip steaks were very thin and over done and slightly tough. The plates were cold. The food was lukewarm. When we mentioned it to our waiter he offered to replace meal, when replacement came it was not hot. The Shrimp Linguine was adequate and Shrimp skewers were very good , but again, it was not hot.
