    Meat lovers pizza
    Caroline H.

Hey family! I'm going to keep this one quick. So I checked this out very randomly when I went to Stock and Grain Food Hall in High Point. I was catching up with my friend and I think we wanted something sweet. We were walking around and we noticed that we hadn't seen this spot before. We looked at the menu and decided that we'd come back to give it a try but for now we wanted dessert. They had NY style cheesecake, cannoli, and tiramisu. I'm not one for coffee or espresso flavored drinks but I will eat tiramisu or have an espresso martini. So we opted for the tiramisu and I lie to you not, it was the best one I've had in a while. My friend and I looked at each other in disbelief. It was really that good. It was creamy and delectable. I mean it's a pizza place but since the dessert won me over, I knew the pizza had to be good. We came back maybe a few weeks later and we got pizza, wings, and of course tiramisu. I really enjoyed the pizza. It's enough for two people depending on how hungry you are. I will also say it has excellent reheat quality which I appreciate. The wings were really good and I loved the sauce. However, for the price of the wings, I expected them to be jumbo. They were not. I still enjoyed them and they come with carrots and celery. The service was pretty normal since it's all made to order. But if anything, get the tiramisu. It was spot on.

It should come to no surprise to you that the owner of this facility has ties to several other high quality pizza establishments in the area. Quite simply, these people know how to make a damn good pizza. During a visit to Stock and Grain, this is one of the several establishments my group tried, and we all loved the pizza. We got the Vampire Slayer, which is mushrooms, chicken and garlic. While it was a bit on the oily side, the flavor was great. The hand tossed crust is high quality and really, the toppings don't matter without a good crust! Prices are reasonable and servings are generous. The turn around time for the order was quick. I would like to see them add some salad options, because sometimes a good side salad makes me feel better about the greasy goodness of a pizza. This joint is inside the Stock and Grain food hall, which has ample seating, and is a good experience especially for a group or people who can't decide what's for dinner tonight. Absolutely worth trying!

Whoa!!! I'm already wondering when we can get this pizza again! With new places I try to manage my expectations. No need here! Delicious homemade, hand tossed crust and so much flavor on both pizzas we had. Hoping maybe they will add a salad or two at some point. That is just a personal preference, a little veg with each meal. They only serve 12" pies but they are very filling and flavorful. A great excuse to get several different ones!! Service was terrific and speedy and everything was very clean.

PiesOn's unofficial motto should be "Pizza by people who know what they are doing." The owner, Stephen, also owns Times Square Pizza in Lexington while his wife's family owns Elizabeth's Pizza in High Point. There's a pizza pedigree here going back generations, and it shows in the final product: quality toppings, good sauce, and a crust that is neither burned nor tastes like cardboard. As a New Jersey native, I often ratchet down my pizza expectations. Here, I don't have to. I'd go as far as to say that PiesOn. is the one Stock + Grain establishment that is completely worth the food hall's inflated prices (12-inch pies are $18-$19). While competent execution would be a strong lure in its own right, PiesOn. also benefits from a tantalizing and creative menu. You can still go classic (pizza margherita, a meatball parm sub, and wings are among the offerings) here, but for those looking to mix things up, PiesOn. also offers Havana-topped (ham/cheese/pickles/mustard) fries, a brie/honey/fig/thyme white pizza, and even an inverted pizza. Several of the menu items are Stranger Things shout-outs (the meaty Vecna and the Hawaiian Surfer Boy), and there are vegetarian options as well. For our first visit, my wife and I opted for the Seek & Destroy (spicy soppressata/grape tomato/chili oil) and the Don Dom (white pizza with roasted garlic cream sauce, mortadella, arugula, pistachio, and burrata). Both were served fresh and were very flavorful. The chili oil wasn't burn-your-mouth intense, but it added a welcome kick. The garlic cream/arugula combo here is right up there with the Let It Ride (shallot cream/collards) at Sticks n Stones - the pistachio adds a hint of sweetness. There are other places around that offer perfectly decent pizza for less, but if I want pizza that really impresses, I may have to make PiesOn. my go-to.

First, let me say I love the location of Stock and Grain. It was very nice inside. After looking at each restaurant, we decided on Pies on Pizza. Their Halloween decor was cool. At first, I wanted pizza, but we love a good cheesesteak, so that's what we ordered along with a side of fries, which is large enough to share. The girl at the register seemed young. She spoke very low that we could barely hear her. We had to ask her to repeat herself a couple of times. She was nice, though. We were not too impressed with the cheesesteaks. I got mine with mayo, lettuce, tomato, onions, and jalapeños. My husband got his with mayo, lettuce, tomato, oil, and vinegar. Neither of us finished our sandwiches. The fries were good, but they ran out of ketchup, which was a bummer for the hubby because he likes ketchup. I would return but only to try the pizza.

Kudos to vegan options. They were out of some menu items but delivered with this vegan pizza. If you haven't eaten at the food hall in High Point...check it out. All kinds of options

Pizza is good, nothing extra special, crust is great. Cheesesteak sandwich is good. Okay for someone in the mood for a pizza.

Peaches, Brie, Honey and Pistachios... awesome!

Wow! Sometimes you judge based on value, and other times on experience. When I saw $19 for this pizza, I thought there was no way it could be worth it. But the unique combination of fresh peaches, Brie, honey and salty pistachios made this pizza a great experience. Honestly, the fresh, crispy yet chewy crust made the entire experience great. So pick any topping you like, these pizzas are legit and worth the price. While I enjoyed this alone, two people can easily share since there's so much other food in this food hall if you're still hungry.

Based on other pictures and reviews, maybe only stick to the pizza. These wings were disgusting. Tasted like rubber. The staff also did not wash their hands enough for me to be touching food without gloves and doing multiple tasks.

    The Killer Queen

Stopped by PiesOn during our first visit to Stock and Grain. I really enjoyed the unique offerings on the menu, such as butternut and sage, and I had trouble choosing. The workers were patient and kind and helped me decide on the Killer Queen, made with a white base, Italian sausage, onion, sliced potatoes, and more. The pizza was pretty good! It was too much rosemary for me, but that's my bad for ordering a rosemary forward pizza! We also got fries which were well seasoned and very hot. Like all the other vendors, the food was expensive for what it was (a $19 12" pizza and a basket of fries for $4.50), but I'm assuming all the vendors upcharge to supplement for the cost of renting and to stay in line with food prices at the stadium next door. The overall space of the food hall was awesome, and I think it would be the perfect place to go with a group, as everyone could order their preferred food from the different offerings. Good restaurant, and we would consider making the drive from Winston to come back!

By the standards of the latter, it's nothing special. We ordered a medium George's Combo pizza (pepperoni, sausage, beef, green peppers, and mushrooms) and an order of fried mushrooms. Food was read on-time, and it looked good. The pizza was generously topped, and the mushrooms were a nice golden brown. Those mushrooms were addictively good. Dip them in ranch, and you'll have a hard time stopping yourself from eating more than you should. The pizza was more of a mixed bag. The toppings were tasty as was the sauce: robust with just a hint of sweetness. However, the crust was mediocre, and $20-plus seemed steep for a medium pie. I can imagine that George's might be a fun place to watch a game, and it's certainly convenient, but it's far from the best pizza option in town.

I…read moreactually grew up in High Point, but had never eaten inside the actual restaurant until a week ago. That said, I have had pizzas either by take-out or delivery several times over what has to be 30 years now. Lately, I had a couple basic pizzas from them at a function in downtown, and we also stopped in for lunch on a total whim, wanting a pizza buffet. First, the pizzas over the years. I would say, on par with most of the locally owned pizza and local franchise spots around, like an Elizabeth's. Sometimes, I would describe the pizza as dry, other times, the sauce ratio is a little better and it is quite good. The pizza is a solid 4 stars, I would say, if you're considering a pizza... go for it, decide for yourself. Now, our most recent experience inside the restaurant, was simply not a positive one. We came in around 1pm, wanting to do the pizza buffet. Unfortunately, looking at what was available, it just wasn't appealing. The pizza was very cold, it needed a refresh. We expressed this to the waitress. If she had said "we'll make you a fresh pizza of whichever type you want" we'd have been game. That's not the response we got, so we moved on to hot subs. I ordered the meatball sub, my wife ordered chicken parm. The meatball was, just ok. The meatballs themselves were sliced and warm, sauce was the same I was used to from the pizza, cheese could have used more time to melt, but overall... I was OK. Her sandwich, was not good at all. She did write her own review about it, and I happen to agree. It's generally expected that ordering a chicken parm sandwich at an italian pizzeria is going to be a breaded cutlet. What was given was the shaved chicken that you would normally see if someone orders chicken on a pizza (not my thing, but to each their own). The result was very very dry chicken. The sandwich sat on her plate with two bites taken out of it for the meal duration. No prompt was given for whether we enjoyed our meal. In all, I learned my lesson that day, that this place is good for a fresh pizza. I'll only go that route in the future. The sandwiches were simply not our preference. The chicken parm needs to be rethought, or better explained as shaved chicken.

Aside from the kind server and clean interior, this was a terrible experience. We wanted to go to…read moreanother restaurant's pizza buffet, but got there and saw that it was closed, and decided to try this one instead. We took one look at the pizza buffet and decided ordering a fresh sandwich would be better than the cold, unappealing slices sitting out. We were wrong. My partner ordered the meatball sub. It wasn't half-bad. Nothing stellar, but no real complaints. I ordered what was described as a "Chicken Parmesan" sub. What came out was dried, rotisserie chicken with a little bit of bland marinera sauce and mozzarella cheese that wasn't even fully melted. When I read "chicken parm," my assumption is that it's a breaded, fried chicken cutlet baked with marinera and cheese, then placed on a sub roll. Not whatever that was. So I really only had a few bites and couldn't bring myself to continue eating it. A person who appeared to be in management stopped by to ask if I wanted a box, and I kindly replied no thank you. I was somewhat expecting him to ask how the meal was since he clearly saw I didn't eat it. But nothing from him.

Unless you happen to come at a busy time (actually prefered in this case) you may be getting a re-heated slice that could have been out of the oven for quite awhile.
