One of the best Italian restaurants in Reno that can be a little hidden to most as it is in Victorian square hidden away on the second floor. The service is always great and I like the atmosphere. I've dined here a couple times and I've always really enjoyed it. The weather was super cold and we rolled the food dice on Italian and immediately thought of Pietro's. We wanted authentic Italian and not your average chain restaurant. I called to place a to go order and it was ready in about 20 minutes. The staff was so nice on the phone and when greeting me at the door. They also allowed me to use a $10 off coupon they have advertised online as long as you print it. The restaurant is upstairs from the pizza joint directly off of Victorian. Parking is minimal, but there is a small lot in the back. The aesthetic is a bit dated, but gives it an old small town feel. They have a bar area, booths, tables and a small stage where a live singer plays, but I came in on a weekday, so I am sure that is reserved for the more bustling evenings. We ordered the shrimp alfredo and cheese ravioli with chicken. The food was still hot when I got home, but it was not exactly what I remembered. The shrimp were really small and the alfredo sauce was really light and thin. The cheese ravioli had the same alfredo sauce, but it was more thick and hearty. We also were expecting a chicken breast vs diced chicken. Overall it was good, but maybe dining in is a better option. read more

Last minute, my girlfriends and I decided to have some wine and appetizers after our movie. This spot is really unexpected. It's right next to blind onion. You have to walk upstairs to the restaurant. I didn't even know this place existed! We wanted to sit at the bar when we arrived, but it looked like their bar was just meant for more storage than seating. We were able to get a table for 4 on Sunday around 5pm. The owner was very accommodating, splitting tables for us and making sure we were taken care of. We shared a bottle of Cabernet and split some appetizers (meatballs, Cesar salad, shrimp scampi and clams). We also ordered a bread basket because duh. The best item I think was the clams. They were served in a great sauce and we dipped our bread in the leftovers! I definitely want to come back and try more of the pasta dishes. Came her me with family for dinner! The service is lovely and the inside is beautiful but this time around our food was not the best! I ordered the minestrone soup as a starter and that was okay but o had gotten the special of the evening which was a scallop dish and I have had scallops many times but these were extremely fishy and a little undercooked for my liking my husband didn't mind so he ended up eating them, one of my family members had gotten the special of the sea bass and that to she said was extremely extremely fishy as if it was on the verge of going bad! By husband loved his lasagna and my other family member had gotten the chicken piccata and said that was very tasty! I guess it's hit or miss here but the service is amazing! read more

Checked this place out for the first time this weekend. I didn't even realize there was an Italian restaurant in old sparks until my fiancé mentioned Pietros as a dining option. Glad we decided to try them out. I got the manicotti pasta which comes with 3 different sauces on it- pesto, alfredo, and marinara. They like to put all three to represent the Italian flag. I thought that was pretty creative but also gave a great variety of flavor in each bite. Unfortunately the bread they offer when you first sit down was lacking for me. It wasn't anything special. I did wish they offered a garlic bread with the dish or some better variety of breads a softer or more flavorful one at the table to munch on. Maybe even with some oil and vinegar. I did pair my dinner with a glass of a Sangiovese they have which paired well with my dinner. We ended the night with a crème brûlée and it was delicious and they make it in house fresh every day. Our server was very good at helping with some recommendations from the menu when we asked for them. She was also very attentive. The atmosphere is very relaxing in here and the tables set up very nicely to give an elegant feel while dining. If you're looking for an Italian spot in the sparks area and don't want to travel into town in the Reno area you must check this restaurant out! read more

We had great friendly service. The waiter and what I can assume is the owner were both very nice. The place is in need of an update but not bad for ambiance. This was a major disappointment The service was so poor. Food was good I wish I could say better things . Our waiter was either drinking or something was going on with him .. all the other waiters looked so efficient .. but not ours. Also the man working the front desk ( maître d' ) said the Owner of the restaurant is the chef .. He really could not do anything to help the waiter , yet spoke very poorly of the young unexperienced waiter .. I dont understand how a restaurant of this size forced there waiters to be bartenders .. There was no real bartender .. yet there is a bar and bar seats ! Our waiter had no clue how to make a Manhattan .. and no one would help him .. the entire night was just so sad and disapointing . When your spending this much money .. you want good service . This waiter is for sure in the wrong field .. or needs major training . He does not know anything about fine dining .. Such as taking 30 min to make a drink then didnt put Vermouth in it .. then having the appetizer come before the cocktails .. Then brings by mistake 2 appetizers and telling us he would remove one off the bill. . but then denied saying that .. we would never order 2 appetizers as they are too filling .. then the house salads were really vinagarie ... could not eat it .. then finally to top it off .. the 3 cocktails cost 46.00 which is fine .. but then they charged us 11.29 on tax on just 3 cocktails and then again charged tax on the food .. 46.00 ( liquor ) tax rate is 8.265 % that should of been 3.80 tax Instead he charged 11.29 tax on 3 cocktails.. the extra appetizer he promised to remove cost 24.95 we did not want that .. as we orderd Bruschetta , since the Bruschetta comes with 6 pieces and the scallops appetizer only comes with 3 peice.. Our party has 4 people in it thus we choose the larger appetizer of Bruschetta.. how silly to serve a odd number of appetizers on one plate .. especially for 25.00 for 3 small scallops . you name it It went wrong .. then to top it all off at the end our waiter became Rude ! Just over the top never again .. I still think even the tax on food is wrong . Look at my photo of invoice, I didnt even want to leave him 10.00 tip .. which had he been good .. I would of left him 54.28 tip .. but take this for a lesson .. never again .. at Pietros Famiglia please look closely at my statement in photo .. Could I be wrong ? the name of waiter is on the reciept .. and I sure hope you dont get terminated like the maître d' kept telling us .. hopefully the chef is your dad and will keep you on and train you better, also there are paperback books out on how to make drinks .. your cell phone was not helping you at all . We have been going to this restaurant for years and years. Last Saturday night we were very disappointed in the service, food. Waitress git the drink order wrong, my dinner was wrong. She never offered the specials. Never came over with the paper grinder never offered the ground Parm cheese. The soup was excellent 2 of the dishes came out warm but mine was cold. The angle hair was cold and sticky and the red sauce not sure what to say. The salmon was cooked perfect. It was very busy which is Okey glad so see it but our waitress said it 7 times she was sorry "very busy". Not sure we will go back. read more

Charming little place tucked away upstairs in a strip or bars and restaurants. It's a little dated but that adds to the charm. The service is always friendly from the greeters to the wait staff. The food is pretty good but there's really only one or two options that are vegan friendly and you have to be sure to ask for no cheese. Came here for date night since many friends recommended this place! This place was slightly confusing to find. You have to go into the building and then it is upstairs. When you walk in, it is very dim lighting but it had a nice vibe. The people were so nice and made small talk while we waited for our seat. The have a bar section you can sit at as well while you wait. Once seated, I will say the booths were not comfortable. They seem like they are very old and they sunk in a lot. There was live music going on and that was fun to experience. The food was good! I had shrimp pasta and my fiancé had this creamy white sauce pasta which is a favorite of theirs. He said the portion size was small though so he had some bites of mine. The server was nice but would pass us often and wouldn't check on us so that was somewhat bothersome but when he offered dessert, we couldn't say no! We got the tiramisu and it was very good! Overall, great date night. Definitely on the older side for ambiance but it was close to our house and we were able to walk around Victorian Square afterwards. read more

We just found our new special occasion and fine dining Italian Restaurant! We went for a birthday party, so unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures. The restaurant is located upstairs in an old building, with a cool ambiance. There is also elevator access, for those who cannot manage stairs. They have a good beer and wine menu, but no mixed drinks. We started with the Calamari appetizer, which was served with warm marinara and fresh lemon. It was large enough for three to share and was very tender and spiced well. Dinners are served with a choice of soup or salad. The vegetable soup was very good and the salad greens were fresh and crisp. The Italian dressing was not super flavorful, so I will try the blue cheese next time. They also serve warm bread at the table, that disappeared quickly! Our party tried a little of everything, including clam linguine, which had lots of clams, ravioli, spaghetti with Italian sausage, and I had the chicken parmigiana. The meals came out very hot and with beautiful presentation. Everyone thought their food was delicious. My chicken parmigiana was so tender, I cut it with my fork. The spaghetti with it was al dente and the sauce was light and very good. For dessert we tried the Tiramisu and the Crème Brûlée. The Tiramisu was delicious and the lady fingers had the perfect amount of filling and moisture. The creme brûlée was plated with a chocolate and was incredible! The best part of the evening though, was the service. We had two servers who catered to our every need without asking. We were at the Nugget to spend a few days and our friend was going to be turning 70. Our party of 10 was able to walk there for dinner. W were seated right away and our table was ready. The menu was expansive, many great choices were available. I chose the veal scallopine with marsala sauce and my husband had the spaghetti and meat balls. For the party of ten our service was great. Our friends treated us to dinner here for my wife's birthday. We didn't realize it when we made the reservation but we ate here during the Hot August Nights events. Parking and getting there was a sh*t show. Just FYI. The actual restaurant itself was great. Our server was attentive (though a bit forgetful) and the food/drinks were fantastic. My only regret was I should've ordered what my wife did; the scallops. Easily the best I've tried thus far. The only thing I'll ding them on is the lack of A/C. It was a packed house and a rather warm evening and let me tell you, we were burning up in there. The fans weren't doing anything. I understand it's an older building, but that's the one area where I'll say needs improvement. Aside from that, it was great. On a recent road trip to Sparks and Reno, Nevada, Diane and I had our first dinner here. We opened with Fried Calamari, both tentacles and rings, which were remarkable for being rather small; and Mozzarella Marinara, which was very good except for a couple of scorched spots. And the Marinara Sauce itself was excellent. An appetizer of New Zealand Green Tip Mussels in a White Wine Sauce was very good except for accompanying burnt toast points. Minestrone Soup Primavera was very tasty, and Insalata Caesar with requested anchovies a fine rendition of the classic Italian starter. This time I learned definitively that the brown anchovies that were presented are more flavorful than silver anchovies. The entrees we experienced were both excellent: a special of Lobster & Prawns with Fettuccine adorned with Alfredo Sauce for Diane, and Vitello Scaloppine Picatta with fork-tender veal, great Picatta Sauce, Linguine, and al dente fresh vegetables for me. Booth seating was comfortable, and we experienced fine service. Four scoops of Vanilla and Chocolate Gelati ended our meal on a sweet note. read more

Very unhappy with a couple of issues. 6 weeks ago we made reservations for four people and to reserve a booth for 7pm on New Year's Eve. When we arrived at 6:45 we were told the reservation was for 4:30 which of course sounds nothing like 7 o'clock when the reservation was made. The manager acted as if he was doing us a favor when he found a table in a super busy part of the restaurant. There's nothing like being bumped into consistently while trying to eat. My wife and I both ordered veal, me the parmesan and her the veal piccata. Neither meal was edible because even using a steak knife was not good enough. A chainsaw would have been more preferable. Once cut it was loaded with gristle and not edible. When our waiter asked how the meals were I complained about the veal and asked for the manager. The waiter came back and said he would take $30 dollars off the bill which was not even the cost of one meal. So as not to cause a scene I accepted but vowed never to return. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone expecting a decent meal. read more
