Lasagna with a nicely crisped cheese layer on top and perfectly al dente noodles
    Gil S.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Fantastic authentic rich Italian food, fantastic divey ambience (decorated literally from top to bottom), and fantastically friendly service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Despite this place being located on a dusty road in an industrial-looking area, it was packed at lunchtime on a Monday--both the bar and the dining room.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The gravel parking lot is a bit of a mess when it's crowded (expect to do some three- and four-point turns to get out once you're ready to go), but the experience is worth it. While the menu is limited (mainly spaghetti, ravioli, spaghetti with ravioli, lasagna, and a nice minestrone), everything is good and made with care and authenticity. The sauce is rich (maybe a pinch too salty, but not overpowering), the cheese on the lasagna is nice and crispy, and the pasta has a nice bite to it. We've found pasta in Italian places throughout Reno to be a little too al dente; here it was just right (especially the lasagna noodles, though the ravioli is also nice and chewy). Even though the garlic bread is basic, I like that they cut it into manageable strips. Don't really have any major complaints. Despite the place looking a bit more like a country five-and-dime from the outside and kind of like something out of From Dusk Till Dawn on the inside--the food is good and we'll be back.

Old school since 1937. We hadn't eaten breakfast and we saved our appetite for an early lunch. This place is off the beaten track away from the casino area and the restaurant was busy. We ordered one spaghetti plate with meat balls on the side and garlic bread. Despite how busy it was the food came out within a reasonable time. The food was really good especially that bread and this one plate was more than enough to curve our hungry appetites.

First timers here! This place has been around for 4 generations and absolutely loved the family working here. The menu is super basic and all homemade. Pasta comes heavy on the pasta sauce so next time I will order on the side. Meatballs were excellent and prices are some of the lowest around. The only hiccup we had was having to wait a half hr for our table but they brought complimentary bread out for us because of it. Great experience. Lastly, the minestrone soup was pretty much all broth so get the salad w/ dressing on the side!

Cane into Casale's the saturday before Mother's Day. We didn't have a reservation but they got us sat with little wait at the bar. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cool local vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was really good. We ordered the Valentine's (lasagna and cheese ravioli) and the half spaghetti and meatballs half ravioli. Started with a house salad and the minestrone soup. And also ordered the garlic bread to have with our entrees. We both thought the ravioli was the best of the 3 varieties we had! The lasagna was very good but for me personally it did not have enough filling between the layers. You could tell how fresh everything was and overall everything was excellent and just had our favorites based on preference. We were so glad we finally made it out to this gem! If you have a larger party would definitely recommend calling to try to get a reservation!

Since moving to Reno, locals have raved about Casale's and how it is a must try for the best Italian in Reno/Sparks. I finally got around to trying it and was so excited that this was going to be a regular spot. The menu is fairly simple, consisting of variations of spaghetti, ravioli and lasagna. Simple menus are usually a good sign that a restaurant doesn't do a lot but what they do they do well. Flat out, the food was not good. At all. From the salad, to the garlic bread to the entrees, it just wasn't good. What did win points was our server. She was great, although we did feel bad as she was the only one serving every table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The history and vibes of the restaurant are cool but all the great reviews must be based off of that, because the food is a hard pass.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Decided to try Casali's halfway club tonight absolutely delicious. You want some great Italian food. This is what you need to come. The service was awesome. The food was absolutely delicious. I had a small plate of beef raviolis in one meatball and the rest of the side one had cheese raviolis one had a large platter of raviolis and garlic bread. We had wine and you also got minestrone soup or a salad I chose minestrone soup so good. The salads were very good too garlic bread excellent as I say everything was excellent. Will be back soon. I wanna try one of their pizzas thank you for a wonderful meal

[[HIGHLIGHT]]No frills dining at Reno's oldest restaurant with red checkered table clothes that transport you to east coast hole in the wall Italian restaurants.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Portions are well sized and filling, we got the 1/2 & 1/2 ravioli and spaghetti and meatballs which was a lot of food. Every entree comes with minestrone soup or salad. I would choose salad next time as the minestrone was watery and not as flavorful as I would like, not a single sausage chunk to be found! The garlic bread is a must add on addition- Casales is unique because they are bread strips and the texture and garlic flavor is perfectly executed. Also ordered the lasagna and some drinks. Lasagna, ravioli and spaghetti were all perfectly cooked with a red sauce "gravy" that was incredibly flavorful. The ravioli were smaller and rectangular in shape, the cheese ones were so yummy with rich and creamy filling! Beef lasagna had this delicious hard cheese shell well broiled with the tasty brown bits. A little bit of a soupy lasagna but we enjoyed it immensely, still kept its composition relatively well. The meatballs were a let down, falling apart and not that flavorful. The house wine and regular wine was not tasty to me! Overall enjoyed my experience but with where it is in town on 4th street I'm never in the area.

This is the first time that I've been here! I know, I live here for 20 years and no idea this place existed. I had heard the name before when I was looking for some Italian food, raviolis, meatballs, and lasagna... but the name for your club didn't ever trigger my thoughts of an homeschool Italian restaurant. We didn't have reservations. It was Tuesday evening and I thought ' it's Tuesday, probably don't need reservations' but the place was packed. Luckily some people just leave in the bar, and you can eat at the bar. Take a minute for the guy to clear the bar off. He asked us for a drink order, and I noticed everybody was drinking pretty much drinking the same thing: Picon Punch. So I ordered two of these right off. Bartender was hospital and friendly. The bar was packed, people were standing all around, restaurant was packed. The next thing I have to say : parking... there's no street parking, there's a small parking lot next to the restaurant, and I got lucky someone was leaving when we pulled in. We ordered : 2 x Picon Punch Mai Tai Valentine special 1/2 & 1/2 which lasagne and raviolis Spaghetti and extra meatballs Garlic bread Food came out pretty quickly. Wholesome comfort food. Large portions (we had to take a lot of food.) The only critique I would have is the amount of meat/protein. They really just wasn't a lot of of it. Lots of pasta, lots of sauce, but very little protein. It was delicious though. Will definitely come back.

A must if you love authentic Italian food. The atmosphere has that bold, old-school Italian feel that makes the whole experience special. The homemade ravioli are to die for, the meatball is huge and absolutely amazing, and the thinly sliced garlic bread is so good you'll want more. Staff was nice and welcoming too. Definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to!

We went there last night for dinner. Fortunately, we had reservations because they were packed. And on a Wednesday night! We had to wait a few minutes, but that was OK. It looks like they could've used a few more employees. Our server was extremely busy, but very pleasant and funny. The other employees were also efficient. The ambience is definitely eclectic. The place has been there a long time and has a lot of fun memorabilia throughout. The tables were also covered in red and white checkered tablecloths. I had the spaghetti and ravioli. It was a lot of food that would have presented better had it been served on a bigger plate. Also, there was so much sauce that I couldn't see the pasta. Less sauce would have been better in my opinion as I thought it overpowered the spaghetti and homemade ravioli. But, they've been doing this for a long time and they definitely know what works. If you want pasta in an eclectic and unique environment, you will like this place.

We came here for lunch to celebrate our boss retiring next month. My coworker made a reservation for 6 of us and our table was waiting when we arrived. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Such an old school, Italian environment! I loved it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu is simple, so everything was made fresh for each individual person. Honestly, the garlic bread was INCREDIBLE. Idk what they do to make it so good, but for some reason I wanted to dip the bread in everything. I ordered the small order of beef ravioli a but I also got to try some of the other dishes. The meatballs were fantastic. I think I need to order the spaghetti next time. The lasagna presentation was something I've never seen. Personalized, crispy cheese on top and ooey gooey when you cut into it. This is a hidden gem of Reno. You gotta go

We just loved this place. We know Italian food very well so we aren't that easy to please but this place doesn't disappoint at all. I just loved the down homey feel to this spot. It has the red and white checkered tablecloths and that vintage feel. We ordered the garlic bread, lasagna and spaghetti and meatballs. We really loved our entire order. The sauce that came with the garlic sticks was very interesting and a welcome surprise. I'm super picky about my red sauce since I think I'm an expert at all things Italian. I was surprised at how much I liked it since I wasn't sure and had limited expectations. We cleaned our plates completely and were super full after all. I thought the portion size was very generous. I will definitely return to Casale's.

Hubby and I went here this past Saturday for date night and I'm so glad we were able to try it! This place was PACKED. Not sure if it was because it was a holiday weekend or because it's always like that but it was extremely busy. We also told them we were "virgins" and they gave us TWO jager shots. Needless to say we were FEELIN it lol the food was absolutely delicious. My only gripe is that the food took SO long. We ordered an appetizer and of course our entrees and they both took quite awhile to come out. We enjoyed all of our food but I think at that point we were starving because we got there a little before 7:30 and didn't leave until 9pm....they also let us sign the wall (we ended up signing the ceiling) overall the food and our server were great! But service was extremely slow.

    Parking around the restaurant?

As you were facing the restaurant, there is parking to the left although as the previous person answered, it is limited. Seems to be enough for the amount of people at holds

What is the size difference between the regular and the small-ish lasagna? In pics posted by yelpers they appear to be served in the same sized dish so does the regular have more layers? Thanks!

The portions are ridiculously nice sized. Hell, I would order the half for myself (and Im a bigger dude) and if not have anything leftover to take with, definitely enough to fill me up.

    Do they take reservations?

Yes, small place so I recommend you make them. A little folded paper tent was on our table marked "reserved" when we arrived. It made me feel like I was somebody for a change.

When visiting Reno, I highly encourage anyone that is looking for a delightful and relaxing lunch…read morespot to definitely check out "Süp". Located directly on S. Virginia St and adjacent to St. Lawrence Ave in the heart of the Midtown neighborhood of Reno, Süp has served up delicious and healthy sandwiches, salads, and soups dating back to 2007. This place has been on my radar for quite some time and I finally got to experience what it was all about. Since this is in a fairly busy commercial part of town, it can be a bit tricky to find parking. However, we were able to park only a block away and this was during the afternoon on Thursday 7/2/2026 at around 12:15pm. After making the short way to the business, I absolutely loved the exterior aesthetics and layout were represented. The business itself mimics a house complete with a large front patio area that actually snakes around to the side of the house for the more comfortable Reno days. The wooden tables with plastic chairs and covered tents to shield off the sun were a very nice touch. The inside also offers very generous indoor seating complete with ample space for a single person, a couple, or a family. Their menu are digitally presented on LED TVs complete with some of their specials that are handwritten on a chalkboard. My lady and I both decided to order sandwiches to get our fuel and energy for the day. I went with their "Char-Grilled Steak Baguette"; this came complete with their bistro steak drizzled with chimichurri sauce and topped with caramelized onions, New York white cheddar & sharp cheddar cheese and served on a cheddar poppy seed baguette. My lady went with their "Reno Deli"; this offered salami, pepperoncini & pesto layered with spinach, tomatoes, provolone cheese, and aioli on toasted sourdough bread. Both of our sandwiches came with a side house salad. Once given our number (we got Tahoe St), we decided to sit outside and take full advantage of the weather (as it was a perfect 78°F). What I particularly like is that the ambiance is the perfect vibe for daydreaming, people watching, and enjoying the simplicity that a city like Reno offers. Both our sandwiches arrived in roughly 10 minutes and were presented on white porcelain plates. My sandwich was made to perfection as the cheddar baguette securely held the fillings quite nicely. There was a lot of seasoned steak as the other sauces were not too overpowering. And considering the size of this, it got me quite full as I wasn't hungry until much later in the day. I will say that if you're looking for a reputable small business that offers healthy fresh ingredients, excellent customer service, amazing ambiance in a very desirable area of Reno, I highly recommend giving "Süp" a try. Their selection of salads, sandwiches, bowls, and soups are all wonderful choices as they focus on farm-fresh ingredients. And if time allows, I highly encourage everyone to eat here as I felt right at home during my 45-minute stay. Keep in mind that they are closed on Sunday but are open Monday through Saturday from 11am-9pm. With that said and done, I am giving Süp a perfect five-star review.

When we arrived, we were seated immediately, which was a great start. The restaurant was busy, but no busier than many other places we've visited. After being seated, however, we waited... and waited... and waited for someone to even acknowledge us. Nothing. During that time, we watched our server attend to several other tables, clear dishes, grab items, and process payments. We also noticed two employees standing near the register. One of them looked over at our table multiple times, so it was obvious they knew we were there. Still, no one came over to greet us or let us know someone would be with us shortly. As we looked around, we realized we were the only Asian family in the restaurant. Whether intentional or not, it left us feeling overlooked, uncomfortable, and wondering if we were being treated differently. It was an awful feeling. Eventually, our server came to our table but never apologized for the long wait or acknowledged that we'd been sitting there unattended. By then, the experience had already left a bad impression. I was there with my husband and our three boys, and it was difficult trying to explain why we seemed to be the only table being ignored. Will we come back? NO I'm sure this restaurant has plenty of customers and won't miss one family, but every guest deserves to feel welcomed and valued. A simple greeting or apology would have gone a long way. As for the food, it was good. But good food alone doesn't make up for poor service or for making guests feel like they don't belong. Dining out is about the entire experience, and unfortunately, ours was overwhelmingly disappointing. I'm typically a very generous tipper because I appreciate good service. However, when a restaurant makes my family feel out of place and overlooked, it's hard to justify leaving anything. Respect and hospitality should be extended to every customer.

Good stuff, too! It's funny that my favorite restaurant in Reno is literally across the street (The Four Seasons), and now I have a new favorite Deli. Keep it coming!!! Cheers, JimG

I've been getting their Apple Chicken Salad for years. I'm addicted. It's chopped FULL of beautiful ingredients and topped with a freshly grilled chicken breast. (I still don't know how they keep it so tender!!!) Do yourself a favor. Eat a wonderful meal here and support a local family.

I'm not normally a fan of burrito or bowl based fast casual places, but this place is on another…read morelevel. The menu is essentially a bunch of dishes that can be a burrito, bowl, or salad. Each dish is from a different country, and I think they have a few specials that are more traditional plates. I love west African and Caribbean food, and Reno is severely lacking in both of these options, so it was very welcome to see some options from these locations. I got a rice bowl with Senegalese Mafffe. The food came out fast, and was very good, just the right amount of spice, and killer flavors. The pricing is very fair ($12 for a high quality dish). The portions were a little small, but that's probably a good thing. My biggest complaint is that it has scratched an itch I forgot I had, and now I want a more full fleged West African food experience.

The real dealbreaker, however, was the customer service. When ordering, we asked to add onions to the wraps. We were told, "the servings are already weighed out and prepped so we can't add onion." Fair enough. We then asked, "Can we just get a side of onions?" The two staff members simply stared at us and replied, "No, we can't do that because then we'll have to cut the onion." Even after offering to pay for the side of onions, they flat-out refused, simply because they didn't want to prep them. I would understand if they said they didn't have onions but that was never expressed by staff. I always like trying new places, but I will not be coming back here.

The decor is modern with Spanish and Asian influence with some pop culture and the venue itself is very inviting. I mainly return here for their Spanish Octopus which is charcoal grilled adding to its unique flavor. I can't recommend the Spanish Octopus enough for anyone willing to try something new, delicious, and unique, I've brought several friends and family here just for this specific dish! For those who may be put off by the visuals of a tentacle, my fiancé usually enjoys their Potato Taquitos and 1855 Tri Tip Alambre Tacos which are both equally delicious. The staff are very friendly and observant we did not have to ask for refills on our beverages and they took empty dishes away swiftly. I'll be back for more of this delicious food and am excited for any more fusion inspired dishes that may be appearing in the future!

The ambiance is nice,.but it gets pretty loud in the restaurant even if people aren't really loud…read more It really echos inside. There is nice outdoor seating mostly shaded. Service was friendly no complaints there Overall food was not very flavorful.. too many flavor combinations trying to be fancy and for the prices of each dish I would not recommend this place. I saw it was on the yelp top 100 at one point..so I had wanted to check it out.. but it was very disappointing. A glass bottle of very warm water with the 2 smallest glasses with ice was brought to the table first. Ice is nice especially when its 100 degrees outside. But the glass was like a shot glass and with the water being so warm by the time we ordered our food all of the ice was melted which made that 1st glass of water cold which was a couple of gulp but then you're left with warm water. Food presentation was very beautiful. Taste of food wasn't anything you'd come back for. We ordered the mushroom raviolis.i expected a white sauce as it said creme sauce but it was a red sauce. It came with crispy potatoes which were very thinly sliced and fried potatoes and a citrus salad which was arugula and a very tasty dressing. There was maybe 5 raviolis not great..the red sauce is all you can taste some loose mushrooms around the raviolis in the sauce. The fried potatoes great in presentation ok in taste but I wish there was more potato in each bite. The arugula and dressing were the best thing I ate out of 4 dishes I tried. We also had the potato taquitos which I was looking forward to but it was very dense and the potato tasted like how a bad potato smells. Other than that it was very very bland. Nice crisp on the taquito. The gnocchi pasta dish was also no flavor. The sausage in it was good. 2nd favorite item was the slice of bread toasted on both sides. The bread was almost as big as the food on the plate. The 4th dish was the potstickers which also were just ok.
