We saw a couple being treated very rudely by the bald male cashier, until they turned around and walked out followed by another customer that was given a refund before their food was served and they also walked out. Its hard to believe a restaurant cashier can be allowed to bring in their attitude to work and alienate paying customers. We opted for the Family Platter: chicken, brisket and hot links (we added rack of ribs too) with Mac and cheese, ranch style beans, potato salad, and corn bread. The bartender (didn't catch his name) was informed and helpful with beer selection. He was in tune with the playoff game and turned on music during commercial breaks - so awesome!!!' OMG, love this place!!!! They have the best condiments to accompany their pulled pork sandwiches. Their coleslaw is the kind with vinegar. They will add slaw to their sandwiches, if you request it. As a Southerner by origin, I like my pulled pork with slaw. If you are avoiding carbs, the salad with pulled pork is also a go to option. Enjoy authentic southern sauces and condiments. What's the barometer of good BBQ? Baby Back Ribs. Well, Bullseye! They are great! Done with a dry rub and offered alongside a choice of regional sauces to make anyone happy. One full rack of Baby Back Ribs was just enough for both of us for a "light" lunch. The next time we go we'll try some of those delicious looking side dishes that we saw going by. It's a costly endeavor to do ribs right, so don't come here for a cheap meal. But the value is good, the foods are top notch, and the service is friendly and fast enough for a time-sensitive meal. The place is small, and you order at the counter before sitting. There's a bar, 4-5 seats, but my guess is this place does a lot of take out business. The prices were fine, it's Marin after all, though for $23 I did expect a second piece of brisket with my "combo" meal. I certainly would have preferred that to my choice of 3 aides which seems like overkill. The meat was good though, especially the brisket. It was cooked to perfection. Won't be going back! I went there with my adult son a few nights ago bought a couple sandwiches and sat down to a table to eat. Wanted to have a glass of water but all they had were these tin cups to drink out of. Our first experience here was actually not " here " but takeaway during the CoVid lockdown. I'll update this review if our dining in experience proves better (which I suspect it might). We ordered delivery, which took 1 hour 45 min on Sat evening. We ordered a 3 meat/3 side, and a 2 meat, 3 side individual platters. Be aware that the Delivery menu (Dine In Marin) does not have the same options as the in-house menu. For instance, even though I wrote in " Add Bun ", and " add Slaw " it never happened. -Spare ribs were dry and wimpy (ie not very meaty) -Chicken was dry, overcooked -Pulled pork was succulent and Smoky-delicious -Coleslaw was creamy-delicious, and servings were plentiful. -Cornbread (they gave me an extra instead of a bun, I guess) was good. The problem came with the sides and dessert. Corn bread very dry and no flavor at all, as if the salt was forgotten. The Mac n cheese good flavor, the macaroni sat on top of the somewhat thin sauce. The potato salad was seasoned and very food. The biggest disappointment was the peach cobbler! The biscuit crust was bitter and had no sweetness to it at all, the peaches tasted good but the skin was left on and that made them tough. I found the meat so tender and juicy that it didn't need any sauces (my BF liked the spicy BBQ and used it sparingly). The sides were somewhat underwhelming. The Mac and cheese was OK but gummy (not enough roux? Or cheese? Or something). Beans average, kind of soupy tasting. The collard greens were good but drowning in it's own sauce. I didn't have any but my BF who is a potato-salad-connesiourer loved his. He also enjoyed the rolls but I think he just likes bread and butter no matter what. The price was a bit steep. Around $60 for two one-person meals, drinks, and the tip. Very Marin-ish. The BBQ was good and I might come here again but it's hard for me to justify the cost. Loved the cole slaw; fresh with a perfect balance of acidity. The chili was pretty good. Had great spice seasoning, but lacked salt. There isn't one kind of style BBQ here! ran into a couple visiting from Arkansas and Texas and they said its the best smoked brisket they have ever had in California and they had been to quite a few locations. They use hickory to smoke their meat. 5 beers on tap. Their butter pickles are just as addicting as their brisket! Make sure ask for the fatty part of the brisket. The lean is bit drier. I'm giving the food 4 stars, but I'm hesitant because the service was awful. It was hardly busy and I was the only person at the register to order food. Yet the guy at the cashier looked like the bartender too. So he made me wait just to order my food, and made me wait just to get my change back (he was under no rush to get to me while he conversed with the bar patrons- literally a 5 min wait just to get my change back). I shared a platter of 3 meats (chicken, brisket and pork). All were very good and the brisket was smoked well. They have an assortment of sauces, that were good but nothing to bottle up and take home though. Hands down, some of the best bbq I've had. Came here for lunch with my team, a little after 12:30. There wasn't any wait. They have a good amount of bbq items on their menu with a variety of sides. I got the 2 meats 3 sides combo. For meats, I went with the brisket and ribs. The brisket was so tender, it pretty much fell apart when you poked at it with a fork. It had a smoky taste and was well-seasoned. Not overly salty. It was nearly perfect when you paired it with their in house bbq sauce. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender. Same rich smoky flavor. Close to perfect with bbq sauce on top. For sides, I got the Mac and cheese, collared greens, and beef chili. The beef chili is probably the best chili I've ever had. There were generous chunks of beef in it. Not overly spicy or salty. The Mac and cheese was a bit heavy. It definitely tipped me over and made fuller than intended. Man, the mac and cheese with some hot sauce will make you want to slap someone like Madea did when that woman took her parking spot. The process was fairly easy, they order by headcount. I feel like I over-ordered so I am having lots of brisket and smoked chicken salads, but I am not complaining! The food was ready at the specified time, and held up nicely in the oven with low heat. The brisket was delicious, with the fat melting. The smoked chicken was juicy and flavorful. And well, how does one go wrong with pasta and cheese? The communications process was pretty easy and helpful. And price wise, came in right around $300 for 25 ppl. That's a deal in my opinion. There has been many a war waged over BBQ. And rightfully so. If you're from the South, you know that BBQ is a major point of contention. My fave place is Fox Bros BBQ in the ATL, which should tell you that I KNOW MY STUFF. We shared a pulled pork sandwich - I tried every sauce on different bites, Took home a medium order of ribs, and a small order of links with a side of their homemade pickles and double cornbread. This was Saturday dinner, Sunday leftover sliced links on a pizza, and today one or two remaining small ribs - they were generous - will go into some homemade stir-fried rice with multiple veggies from the Farmers Market.. We also bought a jar of their Spicy Sauce, though they said they always include a few sauces with an order, they could not talk us out of it.
