Do you love "hidden gems" with awesome cocktails and knowledgeable staff who can recommend the most delicious of concoctions? Then this place is for you! Tucked away (I legit had to ask a DTPHX staff member I randomly saw where this door was. For those of you wondering, it's just north of the down escalator at city scape) you enter in through what looks like a small kitchen. The gentlemen in there were nice and asked me the secret password (there isn't one but I replied with "you're awesome" and one of them pointed toward the door. Inside was an instant escape. I tried 2 drinks, eye of the Thai-ger and Livin the dreamsicle and also a shot, it was dark purple. I only ordered the eye of the Thai-ger because the waitress recommended it to me and stated it did taste like Thai tea. It did not taste like Thai tea at all. I mixed it the most I could and it just tasted more citrus-y in an artificial flavor way. I don't think it had a good flavor at all. Livin the dreamsicle was a decent drink. It did taste pretty similar to a dreamsicle and was easy to drink. And whatever the purple shot was, was more artificial flavoring than actual alcohol, couldn't finish it. The whole inside of Pigtails is very nice and clean but I thought it was kind of boring. I came here with friends and it was nice we could hear each other to have a conversation but I think their music was too quiet and I just expected something more from this place. read more

They make all types of great drinks, the bartenders will listen to your sorrows, joys, your likes, dislikes, and will curate you a special something to temp your tastebuds. I try to pop in and pop out quickly every time I come here, and I end up staying for hours. Their dirty martinis are just about perfect, and it's actually quite fun to watch them take the time to make your drink the right way, shaken or stirred ;) . When I was planning my trip to Phoenix, my friend said there were quite a few cool bars/speakeasies we could check out. We ended up at Pigtails on a Monday night + had a pretty good experience. In true speakeasy fashion, the building outside is unmarked. I looked up pictures in Yelp + still ended up walking by lol In the front it looks like a ghost town kitchen, only thing that would catch your attention would be the neon "cocktails" sign above the door that takes you to the bar. Again it was a Monday, so it wasn't busy at all + we were seated right away. They had so many cocktails to choose from! It was definitely hard to pick, but I went with the Fresa Than A Muh'F**** lol I really liked the name + I'm a sucker for sweet/fruit drinks. When it arrived, I was wondering what the heck was floating on top of my drink + my server let me know they were basil seeds. Thought that was interesting, but still proceeded to try the cocktail + it was bomb! Fruity indeed + well balanced. I played it a little safe with this one so next time I'll be trying something a little more adventurous (like my friends did with the matcha cocktail). Overall, we enjoyed ourselves + our drinks + the service was good! I'm curious as to how packed this place gets as it seems like a popular spot because of the drink selection. I love speakeasies, but Pigtails was kind of meh for me. It was just ok, and it was a place I have been wanting to check out for a while now. Maybe my expectations for it were too high perhaps? I Went with a girlfriend. We just ordered drinks. Drinks weren't anything we'd want to collect the recipe for so we can make it at home (which is something we love to do). Service was good. We didn't have to wait long to be seated. Our waiter was nice and attentive. Love the wall of plants and the darker ambience of it. It just was lackluster. I personally might go again once more to just see if maybe it was an off day or something, but I don't know. read more

Maybe not the place you want to hang out all night, but a "couple of cocktails then go check out some other places, then come back for last call" kinda place. The drinks are very nicely done. It's a downloadable menu and it's fairly busy list of imbibement (it's a word, Autocheck!). I'd recommend checking it out before you go so you can change your mind at the last minute. The Whistle Pig OF w/smoke was worth the price of admission, for the spectacle alone. Creative cocktails, well made. What a great little place. If it weren't for Yelp, I doubt I would have stumbled across this hidden gem. Once you find your way in, the place has an immediate cozy and laid-back feel. You get the tiki bar feel without the cheesiness of being in a tiki bar. The cocktails are very creative. We saw ice lit on fire, cocktails presented in giant smoke-filled domes, and huge pig-shaped punch bowls filled with straws and booze to share... Hmm, maybe I should take back my "without the cheesiness" comment. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the cocktails being prepared. The servers were friendly and helpful with recommendations. All that with one of the coolest backgrounds - a wall of live plants. The plant wall is the kind of thing you see and instantly wished you had in your own house, but quickly come to your senses because you know it would eventually be a wall of rot, sadness, and regret. If you don't know what a speakeasy is, it's basically a nod to bars that had to hide their business in the prohibition era. When coming to this place, you'll find a clam looking elbow room shop. Go through the next door and you'll find this classy looking greenery bar that will make you feel like Gatsby. We were attending a DOD conference in downtown Phoenix and were looking for a place to have drinks. We saw pigtails and thought it looked like a fun place. We went in to meet another group and immediately the bartender (male, blond ish brown hair) came up to us with a terrible attitude asking "How many more people are in your group? We have limits to how many people we can let in here" in an incredibly snobbish way. WTH? It was so incredibly rude. Sorry we came into a public bar to spend money?! Weirdest vibes ever. We had 1 parents night out for the first time in FOreVer and the pressure was on me to find the best spot within walking distance from our Hotel. Pigtails talks a big game on social media and I thought this was going to be a home run. Strike out--- the drinks are filled to the rim with ice so I am not positive how much drink is actually inside. Pet peeve number one. Pet peeve number 2: we order 18 oysters, baked Brie, shrimp cocktail and beef sliders. We wanted to sample this and that... our Oysters come out and they were (I don't say this lightly) pitiful, smelly and way too "room temperature" for consumption. Yet, We raised no fuss... even though they were $2.50 each) Our waiter comes up to us saying they are out of shrimp, no worries we have more food coming and we'll order another drink in the meantime. *20 minutes later* waiter: oh! I forgot to put in your Brie appetizer and beef sliders :| Check please! We ate away our sorrows at Daughaus next door. I was really worried it would be busy for a Friday night, I arrived around 1930 to see some open booths.(This left me content)Unfortunately I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked, but definitely a nice location. Drinks start from $10 up to MP so you will definitely find variety here. The overall service was great, and our waitress did an outstanding job at gauging when we needed something and when to ask us how we were doing. The place is very cute! I had gone here last weekend and the bartenders were very nice. I only got one drink here which was the Usual Suspects and it was good - a guava lemon rose lemonade cocktail. I came here again today and it was extremely busy! The guy in the front was super attentive and nice, but the wait was about 35+ minutes which was totally not his fault. I don't understand why you can't make reservations online but can make them in person?? Would make it easier for everybody.I left bc I didn't want to wait but I would come back because I enjoyed the bartenders and atmosphere:)) the garden wall is so cute ( I have not tried the food yet, will update). read more

This bar is one of my favorite places downtown. The secret entrance is super cool and fun, but not even the best part. The inside is very trendy and everyone I've taken here is always impressed with the ambiance. Besides the way it looks, the staff is incredibly nice, helpful, and fun to talk to. Some of the drinks are their menu have fun touches to them, but all of them taste amazing. One of their drinks comes in a container of smoke, they lift the lid and release the smoke, it's pretty awesome and the drink taste damn good! A great place to bring people and small groups (I wouldn't recommend over 6 people) who haven't explored Phoenix or downtown. For the vegans and vegetarians- they have a grilled veggie platter and it is to die for! read more
