    Side of fries
    Angela G.

What a lovely to have meal. Yes it's on a church campus. But it's not a church cafe if that makes sense, like they're not going to preach to you or anything like that. But you will most likely see people doing bible study or something like that on their own. The food is solid and is priced fairly with plenty of options on the menu. There is also plenty of seating options both inside and outside on a first come first served basis. I got the spicy chicken sandwich. The guy taking my order warned me that it was spicy but it wasn't spicy at all to me. So I was fine. Unfortunately my sandwich was burnt, but I was able to eat it with plenty of sauce to mask the burnt flavor. We also got fries to share, but they tasted like they were made with old grease. My friend got a beef sandwich which was huge. She liked it but could only eat half. Even though my food wasn't perfect I feel like it was just a one off. I've been there years ago and had a good meal. She's also been there a few times and she enjoyed it as well. There is plenty of parking on weekdays as long as there are no church events. Going during a church service though would be a completely different story.

Located on the Shepherd Church grounds, this cafe is large and clean. We ordered the Chef's Special, which was not good, the sausage didn't taste like sausage and it was hard. The potatoes didn't have any flavor and weren't even hot. The only good thing on that plate was the eggs. We also got the breakfast burrito, but it was too oily. For drinks, we had the Mocha and a Matcha Latte, and they didn't meet our expectations. They were so weak we ended up feeling sleepy before the afternoon, they definitely need more caffeine.

    Tater Tots
    Angel M.

I have visited Pillars several times, especially on the weekend and considering how busy it is and the line that forms there is typically not a long wait for the food. I wasn't very hungry I was looking for more of a snack and got the tater tots. The environment is very much a cafe. There are tables with chairs, couches with coffee tables, high top table, and books/items for purchase. Taking my order was simple. They call out your name when your order is ready. The tater tots were warm and crispy with just enough salts. The sauce added flavor but they could be eaten without them. There is seating inside and outside and is a one of the several couches that is available. There is also water cups near the counter. Looking forward to trying more items here.

Coffee, 1/2 veggie sandwich, chocolate chip cookie

Just had lunch today at Pillars. This is cute cafe on the grounds of Shepherd Church. The atmosphere is casual and relaxing. There are inside and outside tables for sitting. The employees were very nice and accommodating at the time we were there. The food is very good also. I had the loaded veggie sandwich (very tasty) and a decaf americano coffee, also good. My husband had the tacos which he also enjoyed. The veggie sandwich was big (had to take 1/2 home). Also make sure to grab a cookie, they are very good.

Ordered a sandwich at 13:50, girl on the phone told me it'll be ready in 10 minutes, I arrived at 14:05, the cashiers/workers locked the doors and when I tried to talk to them they completely ignored me. Literally made eye contact with the worker and she didn't even bother to have any sort of communication. I suggest management to rethink about the employment of said workers (I don't know their name). This is absolutely unacceptable. I wasted gas just to come here. On the phone the girl did not tell me that they're closing in 10 minutes (the time when the sandwich was ready for pick up according to her). I'd like to add that as someone who works in food service, when you close a place, you close the orders, you don't physically lock the place immediately as you need to do a proper closing (cleaning) and also allow diners to finish their food / let customers pick up their orders that were made before closing time. This is really unfortunate. The lack of communication is outrageous.

Delicious latte! You can add different flavored syrups to your coffees! I chose vanilla, they also have flavors like hazelnut lavender, and a few more.

This breakfast spot is very cute, it's on the same property as a large church. Prices are really affordable, with everything on the breakfast menu around $9, even the breakfast burrito! I was expecting a small serving for that price but it was honestly huge I couldn't even finish it. Flavor was only okay though, chicken chorizo wasn't the best but the burrito tasted freshly made. I would come back to pick up an affordable breakfast with nice indoor and outdoor seating

From the moment I walked in, Sunny and her mom Miriam made me feel like I'd stepped into something out of a Hallmark movie. The shop is warm, thoughtfully curated, and radiates the kind of charm that's hard to fake. The front of the store is a cozy mix of beautifully displayed teacups, candles, face oils, and other small-business treasures -- eclectic in the best way. As you move through, you'll find not just books, but stories waiting to be discovered, each one handpicked by Sunny with clear attention and care. If she doesn't have what you're looking for, she'll gladly order it and get it to you quickly -- that kind of service is rare. It's also not your average flower shop. Their dried floral arrangements are lovely, but it's Miriam's custom designs that really shine. She has a natural talent for combining color, texture, and mood -- it's like she's creating bouquets with soul. While I haven't yet had the chance to attend one of Sunny's in-store events, I've talked with her about some of the gatherings she puts together -- and it's clear how much heart and thought goes into every single one. She works hard to bring in respected authors and local artists that her customers will connect with, and she's constantly brainstorming new ways to make the shop a meaningful space for the community. It's that kind of intention and passion that sets this place apart. Since that first visit, Sunny's has become one of my regular stops -- a place that feels like home. Every customer is greeted like a friend, and it always amazes me how many names and faces Sunny and Miriam remember. It's more than a bookshop -- it's a place built with love, care, and a true sense of community.

What was even more attractive here, is that the menu though small, is so different. Their hallmark item is soft scrambled eggs, cooked Korean style, inspired by the street egg toasts in Seoul. At the onset it is worthy to mention that surprisingly, good any type scrambled eggs (soft, fluffy, not overcooked) are elusive, even at well known breakfast eateries in the SFV. Because this is the only way I cook scrambled eggs at my pad, I was curious to discover, if Egg Tuck could live up to its advertisement. To order, will it be a regular sandwich, a royal sandwich (includes a beef patty) or a burrito. I chose the regular bacon and cheese sandwich. The generous portion of scrambled eggs (two to two and a half eggs) are stuffed (tucked) into a thick buttered, toasted, almost square, middle sliced brioche bread pocket. The eggs lived up. They were soft, airy, creamy, with their egg sauce (house mayo, they say) and chives. So much so, that when you begin to eat, there is significant spill of the egg mixture. This is not stated to criticize the product. Instead, to praise it for its perfect method of preparation, its abundance, high flavor, uniqueness and authenticity, in the breakfast landscape. They prepare their eggs in a very specific, signature style. They are exceptionally soft-scrambled, rich, and velvety. Unfortunately, I ended up having an allergic reaction after eating it on two different occasions. It was severe enough that I actually had to go see an allergist to get tested. The whole situation turned out to be a total medical puzzle. I ended up testing positive on my skin allergy test, but completely negative on my blood tests, and I just recently passed an at-home food challenge test for egg yolk with zero reaction. Because Egg Tuck cooks their eggs so lightly and uses egg-based house sauces, the proteins are a lot less cooked than a fully hard-boiled egg yolk. My experience just goes to show how differently your body can react to highly soft-cooked eggs versus a strict medical food challenge. The fresh avocado and thick brioche bun were delicious. Loved it, but unfortunately due to reactions I will not be ordering again. If you have complex or conflicting egg sensitivities like me, definitely use caution here.
