I enjoy this place for brunch very much, it's literally located on a boat so if aware if you can get seasick easily! Everything I got was amazing, the oysters were small but sweet and flavorful. The crudo sea beam was very appetizing and refreshing because of it's citrusy taste along with some herb and tomatillo. The hash browns was well cooked and just perfect and you can pair with the steelhead caviar, sour cream and pickled onions and transcend the flavor to the next level. The lobster roll was buttery and surprising with a generous amount of lobster! I added the leftover caviar on top of it and it's full of seafood umami flavor. At the end, I had the key lime mousse and the gateau, and the gateau was a delicious crumbly chocolaty cake/cookie mixture, I couldn't finish it because I was too full but I wish I could have.

I love the summertime. I love boats. Most of all, I love food. All 3 combined, I loved everything about Pilot. The views were unbeatable. Actually, breathtaking Pilot is one of several boat restaurants by the same hospitality group. I visited Grand Banks several years ago and really enjoyed my experience. With Pilot on my bucket list, I passed by last year and recalled the hostess strongly recommending a reservation as tables book quickly. No surprise there. Everyone wants in on this glorious experience. However, with the weather being unpredictable yesterday, we walked right in and landed a table. Our server, the lovely Alexa, informed us that many cancelations took place. The weather was just how I liked it--hot, humid, overcast and the true definition of a July summer day. Gradually, people started arriving and the capacity was nearly filled. The menu was mainly seafood with raw oysters taking the stage. There was a brunch and a lunch/dinner menu. Due to the time we arrived, we browsed the latter. Cocktail selections were interesting. When the Mariner didn't work for us, Alexa kindly replaced it with the IKO IKO which was refreshing and delicious. Recommend! We shared the Crudo as a starter, which at $20, should have been skipped in retrospect. Although it was good, it was not only too skimpy to share but just a teeny portion overall. For main, we both selected the Steelhead Trout. Even though it was Trout, it could easily be mistaken for Salmon. Upon being served, it included two delicate, crispy seared pieces on a crema sauce with three fingerling potatoes. Definitely enjoyed it. Definitely delicious and highly recommend. Other selections on the menu were salads and lobster roll, but happy I chose the Trout. It was executed very well and flavorful/healthy. I really enjoyed my lunch experience at Pilot. What to know--the boat is docked but moves. I didn't mind since it enhanced the experience for me. Really nice spot. Go!

I pass by this boat every time I do my evening runnings at the Brooklyn Pier, so finally got the chance to take the boyfriend here. If you plan to dine, be sure to make reservations ahead of time. I was lucky and scored a day of resy at 8:30pm, which was prime time during the summer to witness the sky go from light to dark. I highly recommend it since you get two different vibes of the beautiful NY skyline. We arrived early for our reservations and were welcomed to grab a drink at the bar in the time being. Since the bar was packed, we got our drinks and sat at the end of the boat, which was perfect. Honestly, I'd suggest getting a drink and enjoying the view here instead of actually dining in as the food is very pricey and small. Soon enough, we were led to our table. We did have prime seating that was away from other and a perfect view of the skyline. For drinks, I had the Mariner ($17) and Get On Up ($17). The drinks was good as I really liked the refreshing flavor of elderflower and matcha in the Mariner. Since we were both a bit hungry, we got a small bite. I had the Lobster Roll ($32) and the boyfriend got the Polpette ($21). Both dishes were tiny and overpriced; would not get again. Not really impressed with the food, but the drinks and view makes this place worth checking out. It's not often you find a boat you can dine on. Of course, do note that you are on moving water so it was not the best experience for someone who gets seasick.

If the food of the Battleship Potemkin sparked a revolution, the Caesar salad aboard this particular vessel might just spark a revulsion. I do expect to pay a premium for mediocre offerings when offered a quality view, but my girlfriend and I both agreed that the pungent hearts of palm and stale croutons, as well as some unpleasant cocktails, simply left too much to be desired.

My friend and I came here spontaneously cause we happened to pass by and was like "oysters on a boat??" Downnnn!! Even though both of us get motion sickness. A price I had to pay. We got lucky cause we got seated right away during sunset. Ordered some oysters and cocktails which were good. Eventually, the rockyness did get to me and I had to go to the bathroom to throw up. Unfortunately dramamine makes me too drowsy and the bracelets don't work. I may have to resort to the silly goggles.

Go for the views and stay for the views! This was a bit of a last minute dinner on a Monday evening -- we were able to grab a reservation two hours before dinner and were seated at the "bar," where you can watch the oysters being shucked. It felt like an especially windy/choppy evening with stuff kinda flying around, but that didn't let anyone down. It couldn't have been easy but our server held the everything down, so big props to him. Loved everything that we ordered and shared: lobster salad, tomato and watermelon salad (bursting with flavor), truffle fries (ordered twice lol), oysters and meatballs. We didn't get alcohol due to the rocky waters and instead got their non-alcoholic drinks. It all came out to $85/pp and I wouldn't say I was stuffed, so you're definitely paying for the views/experience! I'll try brunch on the boat another time.

What a unique place to be having food and drinks!! The weather was perfect the day we went but might be more challenging during rainy or windy times. We ordered a couple of bottles of wine and discovered that it's tap served. So you could actually try before making up your mind. Scallops could have been better seasoned but the aïoli that they serve with fries goes well with scallops too. Lobster roll was tasty. Get the fries if you think you might be still hungry. Service was a bit slow but we didn't care since we had our wine and loved the rocking of the boat. Great views of the lower manhattan!

Pilot is serving up delicious food on the water with speculator views. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a nice summer evening and watch the sunset. I had an amazing evening here. We sat at the Captain's table which is one of the best seats on the boat. Service was fantastic. We both ordered the Lobster Roll which comes with a side salad. The Lobster Roll was refreshing and tasty. Highly recommend this dish. Definitely order a side of fries as well. It's the perfect pairing. Highly recommend dining at this restaurant! 10/10 experience.

Overall rating: 4.5 I didn't have a problem with a service or small portions, but I probably won't be going back. I went on a Sunday around 1 and I deffff got sea sick. No fault to the restaurant, so no shade. But I didn't love the food for the price. I got blue point oysters and they were not good. Pretty disappointing. I'm from baltimore so I will admit I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to seafood. The lobster roll was also not good. Too much mayo. Did not help with the sea sickness at all unfortunately. I also thought the fries were too salty. I did get a vodka cocktail & that was good! The gorgeous view is also definitely a plus. Maybe the other dishes are better, and will comment that the service was very good! But I probably won't go again.

Pilot was like a dream throughout the entire experience. The atmosphere was wonderful, the company was delightful, and the food and drinks were delightful. I came here with my boyfriend in late June. He had made reservations a couple weeks beforehand, and when you make a reservation you put a $50 deposit down per person. This deposit goes toward your meal. It was the perfect evening and we watched the gorgeous sunset from the dock before being welcomed aboard. We were seated a little after our reservation time, but nothing too dramatic. We could tell the host was stressed, and didn't have anywhere to be, as this was the main event of the evening. Diners seated around us weren't completely happy because the oysters weren't coming out quickly, and you are only given 1.5 hours to dine and they are strict on that time limit when they have other parties after you. One table near us left without getting their oysters, because of the time limit. I thought that was pretty crappy, because it wasn't their fault that they didn't get their entire meal. It was hard to watch. Our guess was that someone quit mid-service that night, which is why there was such a delay in the shucking of oysters. We ordered the grand banks, which included 2 dozen oysters from various areas that we could try. We didn't get these oysters until after our entrees. We were fine with this, because you don't need much room for oysters, but it would have been better if they were served before dinner. The oysters were wonderful and we were both in heaven. My boyfriend ordered Iko Iko drink, which tasted very good. I had the Get on Up, which had elements of heat to it. I enjoyed it. For our appetizer we ordered the caviar hash brown. It was the first time I had caviar, and it was scrumptious. I like the popping in my mouth. Everything paired well together. I had the soft shell crab for my main meal, and my boyfriend had the steelhead. Both were amazing meals and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The bathrooms are in the back, and could have been a little cleaner. All in all this was a really fantastic experience and we enjoyed it. I would come back, but there are so many other places to try in NYC when visiting. I would definitely recommend making reservations and experiencing this though. The boat is docked, but there is movement, so if you don't have your sea legs, maybe you shouldn't eat here.

Came to pilot on a Sunday evening to watch the sun set over the NYC skyline. The boat itself is so cute, and there are some great phot angled on the top and back of boat. I appreciated they could our party number change from 4 to 5 last minute. We ordered some mock tails and I got the Tropicana cocktail which was good but not very strong. The gin and champagne cocktail, forget the name, tasted exactly like a mimosa and I wasn't too impressed with it. We ordered the luster platter which was a sampler of all their different oysters for $70, and you get 2 dozen. Fiscally, it's the best bang for your buck and they were SO GOOD! Comes with a trio of sauces too and we were all pleased. Also got the fries- they taste like McDonald's fries but without the added grease and shame. The aoli for dipping was good but the ketchup kinda weird it has some additives. For $8 the portion isn't grand but hey it's NYC. We also got the ceviche which was an explosion of flavor. Loved it. The best part was our waitress- Jennifer maybe? She took pictures for us, was so sweet and knowledgeable on the menu and even managed to time the oysters to come out right when our last friend joined us after his work call- she knew he was on the pier and kept an eye out for when he was done and walking down. VERY ATTENTIVE. I'm so sorry I can't remember her name but we were the table off 5 with a 5 pm reservation on Sunday the 24th! Woukd definitely come back.

Loved the experience of sitting on a boat rocking in the waves to enjoy a few cold libations after a sweaty 5K race. Moored at Brooklyn Bridge Park we had a lot of fun chatting with the friendly crew and staff while having drinks and snacks. Small menu but just right for being on a boat. Plus, the fresh raw bar was fun to sit at watching the oysters being shucked and plated. Tasty cocktails, cold beers, friendly staff, and terrific views on a beautiful day. Living our best lives!

If you're looking for a fun summer spot, Pilot is worth a visit. Breakdown of my 5 star (rounded up) review below: Atmosphere/Service: 5 Stars Beautiful ship and gorgeous views of the city skyline. Tables were nicely spaced out and service was attentive and very welcoming. Easy to make a reservation online (requires $25 deposit per person that goes towards your final bill). While the reservation was limited to 2-hours, I didn't feel rushed at all by the staff. Try to book a table around sunset so you can see both the skyline view during the day and at night. Drinks: 5 Stars Excellent drinks - very unique and refreshing! Was able to try the Permanent Vacation and the Watermelon Mint Limonata (non-alcoholic). Cocktails were about $15, expensive but pretty standard for NYC. Food: 3.5 Stars This is where the restaurant fell a bit flat. I ordered a dozen oysters, a lobster roll, and french fries. Food was overall pretty good, but given the price ($27 for a lobster roll plus $8 for a side of fries), I would expect the food to taste better. Overall, a really enjoyable bar/restaurant that is worth adding to your list. Great place for a date night or casual catch up with friends. Pilot is a fun and unique experience, don't miss the views!

If you want a fantastic view with good drinks (albeit overpriced) and fresh oysters, this is your place. It's expensive no doubt but you pay for the spectacular view of Manhattan. If there is a better place to have a few drinks in the summer, I have yet to find it. Superb read more

Well kept secret. This boat turned restaurant bar is a perfect spot right on the water for oysters, appetizers and great cocktails. Amazing Manhattan views. Ample table and bar seating throughout, attentive and knowledge staff. Super fun lunch spot in Brooklyn. Refreshingly light and simple menu, great drinks and a cool atmosphere. We went right at 12 when the open and had great attentive service and didn't feel rushed at all. Definitely worth making a reservation because by the time we left it was packed. Such a great little space and wonderful atmosphere. Went for drinks on a Thursday night and it wasn't too crowded (yet)...they've only been open for about a week; I expect bigger crowds will be coming soon. Views are obviously unbeatable. Bartenders were pleasant and generally prompt, though it took a while to close out our tab. There's an oyster bar, separate table seating, and a lower bar that doesn't serve any food. NOTE the ship sways quite a bit, so if you get nauseous, take a Dramamine before you go. Didn't have any food, so can't comment on that. FYI doesn't really feel kid friendly. read more

Can't beat the location. I luckily went when it was not that crowded, which is hard to believe since it is docked in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Did not get food, only drinks, but the cocktail I got was very good. Come here for a casual drink, seeing as a cocktail ran me 15 bucks. read more

Went on a Sunday afternoon to celebrate an anniversary and was not disappointed! The cocktails - Skipper Key & Permanent Vacation - were excellent. We opted for the Ceviche as an appetizer, and let me tell you, it was awesome. The combo of fish and sweet peppers makes my mouth water thinking back on it now. We ordered entrees of Sea Scallops and Soft Shell Crab with a side Lobster Macaroni and Cheese to share. Scallops were buttery and soft. The crab portion was much larger than expected and perfectly battered & fried. Mac and cheese was creamy, topped with breadcrumbs, and had sizable pieces of lobster mixed in. Fries were great! Watermelon & tomato salad equally great! Oysters, meh. I tried the Duxbury's from MA and they tasted like water. The Wellfleets (also from MA) were a touch salty, but not as much as they should have been, as I eat Wellfleets all time. I tried another batch from LI and they were watery too. Could be the way they just kept piling buckets of ice on them? Or they weren't fresh. I'm not sure, but something to keep in mind. If you're looking for solid fresh oysters, this isn't the place. read more

I was impressed. Ambiance excellent can't beat that. I would of liked my food to come to my table hot,which was not. The lobster macaroni and cheese just don't even bother. Not the best. Oysters were just ok. This was an experience I can say been there done that. I would not go back again. read more

Super disappointing. The oysters were the only highlight. It's never a good sign when your dozen oysters appear before the cocktails. The service only got worse from there. Food is way overpriced and poorly executed. Our fries were cold and when we complained the waitress said she'd be right back with some fresh and hot ones. She never came back with the fries or the second round of drinks we had ordered before our lunch was delivered. In the unlikely event we go back, it will be only for the oysters and at the oyster bar. read more

The highlights: the beautiful view, and the drinks on tap & manhattans are good. The minuses are the old chilled red wine, so bad no one would have it. Like others mentioned, the service is poor, slow, and forgetful. The bartender already seemed a bit annoyed when we ordered the first round of drinks, so I decided to not bother him anymore about the red wine. read more

I just happened upon Pilot on my way to a yoga class on Pier 6. What a VERY happy event: The food was DELICIOUS (super-fresh oysters & soft-shell crabs for BREAKFAST -- but I couldn't resist! My husband and I always used to grab drinks here pre-COVID so we were happy to return! The tables were well distanced and everything is outside to begin with, so we felt very safe. We went to Pilot to celebrate my husband's birthday and our anniversary. It was a wonderful night. Really special setting. The boat rocks gently as you gaze on lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge. Time your dinner so you can watch the sunset. Food, drinks, and service were terrific. It exceeded my husband's expectations - which is really saying something! We can't wait to go back. read more

I've been here a few times and have had the same issue: the order things arrive. Drinks, oysters and main course were served: 1) main, 2) drinks, 3) oysters. Are oysters supposed to be desert? I asked the staff and they say the shucker are bartender are backed up so they just bring things out when they are ready. What? You can't figure out how to bring drinks first followed by oysters and then the main course? The first time it happened i figured it must be a fluke but then it happened again. Great view, food is fine too. Staff is nice and friendly too. But if you go, order your drinks and oysters. Wait for them to come. Only then, order your main or other appetizers which come out almost immediately. For the prices they are charging, you shouldn't have to course your meal yourself but here we are. If the location weren't such perfection I wouldn't bother coming back but fresh clean oysters, a cold rose and a sunset on an old sailboat are just too good. C'mon Pilot - work this one out - it can't be that hard. read more

First time going to pilot was this summer and it was the best experience ever! They had really great service and even better food. I'd def rec their oysters, trout and lobster roll. We were over our reserved time and our waiter let us extend our reservation by a full hour. Our party of four was very impressed with the level of service and care that was provided. We have been back many times and can't wait for next summer so we can do this all over again! read more

I don't know why it took this long to find Pilot since they have been around for 4 years. It's absolutely delightful to be on this boat restaurant. The food is delectable, the cocktails are strong, of course the sunset is spectacular. I was managed to find much needed breaks during Covid. Would love to return many more times. read more

Pilot is tucked away on pier 6 in Brooklyn, and couldn't be more perfectly placed. They have superb oysters , one of a kind signature cocktails and crowd pleaser pickles . My friend and I have had the pleasure of enjoying the amazingly crisp French fries, caviar with pickled onions, and ending with assorted fruit topped with a mascarpone cream. Our hostess, Susanne , was an absolute delight, and Sebastian was stellar. Every single dish and beverage that passed our lips was absolutely Devine. Thank you to all those who made our night one to remember. This establishment is really a hidden gem, amazingly beautiful views and both romantic and relaxed. Both employees and patrons were just as nice and very easy on the eyes. Kudos to the owners and we hope to see you all again soon ! read more

I had family visit over the long weekend. Pressed for things to do that were open I made reservations at Pilot. The staff was so helpful, kind, fun and the food was amazing! (I highly recommend the french toast). The space was immaculate and there was plenty of space between tables. My guests were beyond thrilled with the entire experience. Came here with some friends for Memorial Day. Decent views of South Street Seaport and an ugly brutalist municipal building. Considering that this place advertises itself as a brunch spot, one would expect the restaurant to serve some form of hot coffee and tea. But apparently that was asking for too much. The cocktails were okay but the food menu was severely lacking. I understand that this is a sea-themed restaurant (boat may have been the giveaway...) but I wish there was more than one entree option for people who didn't want to eat seafood. I ended up ordering the caviar hash brown. While I understand hash browns aren't exactly the most sophisticated food, I was hoping to get something that was a cut above the grocery store frozen section. Side note: Serving something in a cast-iron skillet doesn't actually mean the food will be hot. Finally, being the masochists we are, we decided to order dessert. Only to be told 20 minutes later that there were no desserts left. And no, this was not the middle of the night. This was 1pm. Oh and they charge each guest for water but they don't tell you in advance. So, if you are a fan of poorly stocked kitchens, slow service, microwave meals, and the East River, do come. Otherwise, you are better off checking out the countless superior seafood places in the city. read more

Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

Pilot has been my happy place during this summer. Each time I have gone the service is prompt and friendly. I went last week again for my birthday and they did not disappoint. I reserved the captains table so we can see the sunset. The table is in the very front of the boat and you have the area all to yourself so my pod squad felt super comfortable and we had a fantastic viewpoint. Weatherwise it was super cloudy so we didn't see an ounce of sunset but once it got dark it was beautiful! Get the cocktail "Permanent Vacation" (my absolute fave) To eat we had the Lobster Mac & Cheese, a variety of oysters, some lobster rolls and trout(i think) The Lobster Mac & Cheese is definitely the stand out and I highly recommend it Pilot is a sweet destination to feel like you're on a getaway. We had been to Pilot prior to COVID and absolutely loved it so when I discovered it was within walking distance for a friend who just moved to the city, we had to go again. Every table was perfectly socially distanced, everything was spotless, the servers were extremely mindful of health and safety, the food was delicious (as always), it was an overall fantastic experience. I have been too nervous to eat in newly constructed outdoor seating in the street so this was my first real restaurant experience since February. So glad I went to Pilot. You should go, too. read more

Welcoming our best friends from Virginia at Pilot was a fantastic experience. The vintage boat on Pier 6 offered a charming setting, and the seafood, especially the oysters, was a hit. With a variety of wines and cocktails to choose from, we enjoyed a delightful evening. The added bonus of a downtown Manhattan view enhanced the overall atmosphere. Just a heads up for friends prone to seasickness - the boat's gentle sway is part of the adventure. Amazing restaurant to visit especially during this pandemic. Great service and food but even more importantly great social distancing and hand glove use by the staff. Lobster roll and soft shell crab were delicious and you have to try a permanent vacation cocktail. Attentive service, will definitely be back before it gets too cold for outdoor dining. read more

I was so happy with my experience at Pilot! The boat is super cute and has amazing views. I wasn't impressed with the burrata, but the oysters were fresh and the lobster roll was good. That said, the highlight was definitely the drinks, I loved all of the cocktails (I tried the Iko Iko, Tropicalia, Skipper Key, Revolucion and Get on Up). read more

The dinner was incredible , menus are virtual and the food is just delicious, maybe a need a little more options but since its a boat space is limited !! I enjoyed my night the view is amazing and the overall experience was just perfect The fact that u can have a beautiful dinner on a boat over water is just a nice experience !! read more

Such a wonderful summer treat, especially during quarantine. The freshest seafood portioned and cooked to perfection, delicious oysters, scrumptious cocktails, excellent service and view of the East River to transport you away.
