I went in with the expectation that this was a legit business. That they would honor their commitment to fixing the issues I was having with my vehicle. It was supposed to be a simple fix with a new gasket for a leaking oil problem. They convinced me that they could fix it and that they would back their work. Not the case in either situation. Initial estimate was $170. They called about an hour later and said that if I wanted to truly fix the issue that they would have to replace the other gasket which was the actual oil leak issue. When I asked about the cost they said that it would be another $110. I asked, "Why didnt you fix that one and not the other gasket first if that was the one that was the issue?" Their reply, "We didnt look at it before we did the work." That is when I should have run! Instead, I figured you have the car, fix it! Oh they fixed it alright. My car was losing 1 qt. of oil per 5000 miles. At $5 per qt. I could have driven 300,000 miles before justifying the expense they hit me with for the repair work. Shortly after picking the car up there was oil all over the engine bay. I figured it was poor workmanship, cleaned it up, and drove my car for the next few weeks. I always check my oil levels every other time I fill up with gas. Again I noticed oil all over the engine bay. This time I took it back to Pima Auto Care Center to have them assess the issue. It had been less than 1000 miles since they "fixed" my car. I was told I had a 10,000 mile guarantee or 1 year on their work. They called me about an hour later informing me that it would cost me another $300 to fix this issue. They had cracked the plate where they replaced the gasket and, I'm leaking/spraying oil all over the engine bay. I asked them how this happened and they claimed that it wasnt their fault, they wouldn't honor their commitment to fixing my oil leaking issue and that they "could" fix this issue for another $300. I understand the world of Bait & Switch as well as being an informed customer. This shop is not to be trusted. I dealt with the owner personally and told him I felt this was either negligence or incompetence and that they would never work on my vehicle or anyone I knew. He reply was, "Your car is old, things break, but we can fix it." I told him it wasn't broken prior to you working on the car, why should I pay you to fix something that wasnt broke prior to my arrival at your shop? He asked, "what kind of deal could we work?" I still lose the same amount of oil I was losing prior to their service, just from a different place. Disgusted at the response to the poor workmanship and severe incompetence. I wish I could give 0 stars! I was told my oil change for my vehicle which take a synthetic blend would cost $16.95. Well long story short they are liars!!! I got there and was told my car requires full synthetic! My car has NEVER had full synthetic. So needless to say my $16.95 oil change turned into $72!!! Absolutely ridiculous! Let me begin with the fact they can spot a uninformed woman walk into their shop. If the pickins are ripe, they whip out the parts cannon. Generally if a car won't start it is one of 4 items. A starter, an alternator, a battery or wiring. As a backyard mechanic I can nail these down in moments. A simple Jumpstart will tell me if it is or is not the starter. If I can jump start it and it runs, pull the negative post off the battery, and if it continues to run, then I can eliminate the alternator and wiring and conclude it is a battery. Jason the tech obviously missed this in tradeschool. He started by replacing the alternator (not needed) and serpentine belt (likely worn and justified). Obviously this did not fix the problem. Stumped, he threw a starter at it. This fixed the problem, which if he properly diagnosed this in the first place, it would not have enabled him to bill $426.00 to replace the alternator and serpentine belt. And the 98 dollars billed for trouble shooting was an obvious lie. Additionally, he did repair some issues with the coolant system. The labor to replace the overflow tank was 104.00 bucks to undo 2 screws and 2 hose clamps and likely took him all of 5 minutes. Unfortunately the repairs were approved by a person who knew very little about automotive mechanics and thusly was grossly taken advantage of. This is disgusting. I hope Jason and Bob have daughters and feel good about financially acosting a unwitting female consumer. Furthermore, their pricing for parts far exceeded the price of the most expensive prices prices I was able to find online. By 60 bucks or more, than the highest priced parts I found. Before you approve any work done on your vehicle by these people, do a little research first! read more

My husband recently took his 1990 pickup here to do an oil change and new tires as well as check his AC. They were supposed to put the oil change for $29.95 (after calling him for 3rd time) then charged him $69.95 for other oil. Then charged him $75 to check his AC and quoted over $200 to fix. And quoted him $1100 to replace ball joints. He went to mechanic Ralph in 3 points - who charged $350 to do ball joints. He then checked AC and compressor and it was not getting power and had plenty of Freon- loose wire in firewall. 2 minute fix. These guys are idiots and rip off artists. read more

I walked in and new the problem with my car, my oil filter housing cap cracked when I was changing my oil and I asked if they could replace it as I already had the new filter and oil. Simple fix but I didn't have an oil filter wrench that fit this car and cracked mine using a tool that didn't fit. We agreed on a $45 labor fee along with a $59 oil cap. That $59 was a bit steep but I agreed. 10 minutes later he says that was the wrong price for the cap and says it's going to be $159.99 for that part or $85 for just lifting my car up and ordering the wrong cap. The part was $22 at autozone. I said whatever and thought it was just going to be $160 total which I still thought was outrageous. $260 is what they charged for 20 minutes of work. No oil change, no oil filter, they changed an oil housing cap. One of the simple processes when changing your oil. $260 for 20 minutes of work, $22 part at autozone and they taxed me $150 for it after saying it was $59. Super bummed I got trapped into that, they said it was going to be $85 to leave when I already knew what the problem was. Bit of a disgrace to do that to a young college man. Our tire was completely flat as we were driving by with our 9 month old baby. We pulled in and asked for help, someone cleaning up responded so kindly, even offering me a place to sit with the baby. My husband was working quick to get the spare on and off their property. Unfortunately not fast enough as the owner drove up and started yelling at us and his employee. Cursing at him in Spanish and calling him names, right in front of us. I told him that it was not the employee's fault and to please stop yelling at him. Well, he clearly has a thing against women because he saw red. Aggressively started to take my husband's tire iron out of his hands and started coming towards me yelling at me to be quiet. He stormed off and had a temper tantrum inside the garage, continuing to behave like a 5 year old child. He then came out saying he had to fix the tire or else there would be legal issues. Which we completely understood, but did he have to behave in such a manner? I had maintenance work done to my Toyota Highlander. I carelessly did not ask for an estimate in writing. I told Pima that I needed the car done by close of business July 2 and was assured it would be done. A subsequent call from Pima told me the car would not be done on time and I could pick it up Tuesday July 6. I was not happy and said so, as I had planned a trip to visit family in California. Within an hour or so I got another call from Pima saying I could pick up the car and if I wanted, they could do some additional maintenance tasks. Once again I said "if you think it's necessary" but was careless in not asking for an estimate. When I called on Saturday July 3 to pick up the car I was told the cost would be more than I might expect...totaling just short of $5000. I was shocked. After two subsequent meetings with Pima's owner to discuss my concerns, I finally decided to drop any more contact. Pima was paid as per their invoice, and I have my vehicle. I stopped in between appointments hoping to get an oil change. There were two open bays and a young lady standing, folding towels in the right bay. Since she seemed not to see me and didn't greet me, I pulled in partially and rolled the window down to ask if they had time to do an oil change. She said she would check with another employee. She comes back toward my vehicle with two gentleman. An older, gray haired gentleman told me to pull out because I could have killed someone. The bay doors were open, no danger signs, and no one was in the area. I told him I pulled in to ask the young lady if they had time for an oil change. He said he'd be with me in a few minutes; this was at 11:20. I asked if he'd be done in time for me to make an appointment at 1. Then, he said he'd see me at 1. I clarified I needed to be done to make it to an appointment at 1. Apparently, they weren't going to be with me in a few minutes or it now takes 1.5 hours to get an oil change. They don't want business. They need to learn to promptly greet people and to watch for incoming customers and they need to learn better customer service. It may be time for someone to retire, if he can't be friendly. read more

Extremely unprofessional owner: We brought our car in late afternoon on a Monday to be inspected on account of overheating problems. We were told it wouldn't be looked at until Tuesday afternoon and we told them that's not a problem and it was not a rush. We hadn't yet heard back from Pima Automotive by that Thursday afternoon so we called them for an update. They told us they had still not looked at it but would be able to the next morning (Friday). We finally get a call Friday telling us the car needs a new radiator and hoses for $800 as well as some work on the power steering system. That seemed too pricy for us, and after pricing radiator and hoses online for $200 and deciding this is work we can do ourselves, we called back to let them know we did not want any work done on the car (while of course expecting to pay them for the diagnostic work that took 4 days to complete). The staff member seemed surprised that we didn't want them to go ahead with the work. Then, weirdly, about 5 minutes later we get a call from the owner who sounded irritated. After again explaining to him our decision in a respectful tone, he rudely says "ok, get it now. Come get it right now." We show up to pay the $51 for the diagnostic work, but when asking the owner (Bob) at the counter for some sort of workup of the problems they found from the diagnostic work, he cut me off mid-sentence and, waving his hand at me, flippantly says "I don't know about that, you gotta call so-and-so after his lunch break." What kind of an owner tells people to come right away to get their car and pay for the diagnostic work that was done but waves his hands when asked for the actual diagnostic report? I'm not sure if he was upset at us because we didn't want the repairs done at his shop or if he is just always that rude to his customers. It's not uncommon for people to shop around or get second opinions. That's why you charge them for the diagnostic work. Professional shops are supposed to provide paperwork when you pay them for a service. If you don't have the report ready for the work that was paid for, then maybe don't tell them to come right away. After paying and receiving no paperwork or details on exactly what was wrong with the car, we waited for a staff member to walk over and get our car that was being kept in an ungated and unguarded parking lot a half-block down from the shop. Again, you would think they would've already brought the car over to the shop parking lot if the owner tells you to come get your car right away. I went to Pima Automotive last year to get work done on two different vehicles and had no problems at all, so we came back again. It's definitely the last time. read more

I been dealing with PA for over 3 years. At first for oil changes and once bought new tires. Recently my car was acting up. It seemed as if the problems were the struts. I asked Bob to have his mechanics look at and possibly replace them if needed. Came to pick up the car, paid $500 for new struts (that I figured that I never really needed since I had not driven more than 5000 miles on the brand new ones, but I have a unpaved driveway with a bunch of holes...). Paid Bob and drove off; the same problem. Come to find out it was not the struts!!! It was the rack and pinion, and the mechanic had wrote it on the service sheet, but Bob didn't include it on the invoice, and didn't say diddly when I picked the car up!!! He let me drive off knowing that I would not get far. I could have been killed if I lost control or if the the axle drop while I'm driving...So, after he charged me another $350, I left there promising to report him and to never return. This guy's a crook. I don't know how he stays in business ripping folks off all the time, especially his regulars! Don't get me wrong, his mechanics are top notch, it's the owner who'll screw you over. I'm a disabled vet and reported him to the VA so that he won't rip off other veterans. Don't let him trick you into coming in for a cheap oil change, good chance that he'll rip you off too. I'm done!!! read more

He said it's 1qt down and $8.99 for the oil, oh no, you're charging for more oil which you originally didn't fill to top? This wasn't the $8.99 oil change it was $28. All I wanted was an honest, reliable and convenient shop and not be told off by the owner who was rude and using vulgar words in answering back how to why I'd been disappointed with the service. I went for an oil change and left with a bill for 375. He said I needed 2 new tires and since the tred on the front did look a little shallow and I've got to drive to the west coast next week, I went for it. He said there was a 40K mile guarantee on the tires but didn't give me any factory paperwork so I really have no idea what's on there and whether they're quality tires. He said I needed new struts and that they wouldn't honer the guarantee if the wear came from mechanical problems. That didn't really settle into my brain until I was driving away and it doesn't feel good. This was all, of course, after he'd had at my credit card. He gave me a brochure and seemed to really want me to get suspension work done. Me feeling is that I probably did need the tires, but I'm not going back there. I was replacing my cv axles, and couldn't remove a seized bolt. Called and they agreed to finish the job. Had it towed to Pima Auto, they also couldn't remove the seized strut clevis fork bolts, so they called me before proceeding to replace the struts and lower control arms (They were going to get replaced soon anyway). They called me with updates almost every day, and updated quotes. They gave me a 12 month warranty on the replaced parts, and military discount on the labor. It was a big job, and they took a week total, including the extra work and getting the parts. Quality work, professional and efficient. read more

Not on a bet would I recommend this shop. If it possible to give a negative star rating I would. I've used this shop several times in the past because of their oil change "special" they'll advertise. Never got out of there for their minimum charges because they always "found" something extra which needed fixing. I don't have any beef with that because it is an older van and probably needs several minor things replaced/repaired. This last (and I DO mean the LAST!) experience was the classic "Bait and switch" con job. Our daughter called them about replacing the front strut assemblies on her car and was quoted, "$538.00 plus tax". I thought it was a bit high considering the struts are listed at $149.00 per at every retail shop in town but I'm all for supporting a local business, so she went ahead and dropped her car off. She came out in shock when the total bill was $878.00! They charged her $538.00 (the original quote for the ENTIRE job) in LABOR, $309.98 for the pair of strut assemblies and the rest was for tax and shop supplies. The average time to replace strut assemblies is about an hour per side using hand tools so their price of $538.00 for labor is stretching the limits of credibility. Now a shop has the right to charge whatever they choose and I understand they have overhead costs but the fact remains, the owner was either negligent or willfully criminal in not informing her of the true cost of the repair. Not another dime will be spent at this business and I will advise everyone I know to avoid this shop. read more
