A little background: I got hired at this place to help with the office and sometimes help technicians, the owner, Bob, provided a tow service to haul my tools to his business and was set to start the following Friday, upon arriving with my tools at his shop, he directs me to leave my toolboxes (approximately $50k worth of tools) OUTSIDE on the corner of Pima and Swan. Then proceeds to have me do tech work only, all while Bob is cursing at everybody in the shop, yelling at customers and telling me that as an office employee that I must "hard sell" products and services and that his markup on parts is a minimum of 2.5x his cost, which is egregious in this industry. I completed my first day of work and was reserved to continue working here because I just got hired. Over the weekend I received a much better job offer, including benefits, PTO, and sick time. I would have been stupid to pass up this offer. Being that I was so new and had no one's personal contact info I could not inform Bob that I would need to resign. Monday comes and my pregnant wife and I show up with a truck and trailer to haul my tools back. Bob comes out of the office, furious, telling me that I cannot have my personal property until I pay him for the tow, which there was no prior agreement made about paying him back. I told him that I am getting my tools back and I will not be leaving until that happens. Bob then becomes irate, screaming loud enough to echo through the intersection, Bob then got in my face, I did not buck up to him, neither did I back down. My pregnant wife steps in between us to de-escalate and Bob starts waving his arms, nearly striking my wife. He demanded that I leave as I was taking up his lot, and I told him that if I move so much as an inch, it's an agreement for me to leave, so I will not be doing that and we can either pick up my stuff or wait for police to arrive. Afterwards he storms back and starts moving my tools without my permission and I told him that unless he stops right then I'll be holding him liable for any and all damage to my tools and boxes. He stepped aside and let me collect my items but then informed me that I would not be receiving a check for the day I worked to which I told him that was illegal and I would be informing Arizona and federal labor boards. I called today as it has been a week since this happened and a check still has yet to arrive so this morning I called Pima Automotive and asked about my check, Bob then proceeded to yell at me that it was coming and called me the N-Word with a hard R because I wanted to be paid. I have no desire to enter litigation with him but I feel that I should warn people in Tucson of this Racist, Greedy, unprofessional shop owner who cares about nothing more than his own bottom line. Steer clear of this place unless you enjoy being lied to and stolen from. Bob (the owner or aka "The Old Man") is a characterless & spineless man who will lie and take advantage on any level. He is a champion and enabler of criminals and ex-cons (especially if they are in the family). You would be better off getting stolen from at a crappy corporation like Pep-Boys (at least they have structured incentives and corporate upsell policies for their employees). I dropped my car off for a tune-up and unfortunately had just gotten paid & inadvertently left my month's envelope in the car. When I realized what I did it was already too late. Bobs friend Frank had stoled over $6K out of my car. The security camera was crystal clear (I will post a bit of it below) and Bob chose to protect his friend/criminal family. Sure, I made a mistake and provided a brief opening, but the entire staff knew who it was and the camera is clear. I was able to sneak a screen-shot of the theft when the other employees were out of the office trying to get Bob & his Family to do the right thing. Special mention to Vinnie for being a man of exceptional character and courage. It is unfortunate that good people have to work for criminals. Also thanks to Geoffrey for his kindness and help. Both of these are fine men and Bob is lucky to be able to hide his dishonest practices behind these quality men. Scheduled an appointment last Friday for an oil change. My first contact was with a gentleman by the name of Daniel over the phone to set said appointment. Apon my arrival for my oil change i was quickly greeted in the parking lot by a a very pleasant man. He introduced himself as Daniel he escorted me to the lobby where he explained what exactly they would be performing alone with an accurate pricing. About 15 min later here comes Daniel again to show me my air filter that looked like i hadn't replaced in about 5 years. Along with letting me know of some pressing issues that i would need to address in the very near future. Unfortunately it was kind of a bad time, and i was lucky to be able to replace my disturbing looking air filter. Even after explaining to Daniel that was gonna be the exstent of repairs i would be committing to that day this guy was understandable an took some time to create an esimate of these services and invited me back for rectification. After completion i watched him pull my vehicle out for me then proceeded to take care of my final bill. Damn this guy is all over the place im pretty sure there were other staff on site but wow, impressive. A very pleasant experience i received when honestly expectations were never that high to begin with. Just had to share this post especially when it come to such hard working individuals. RIP OFF!!!! First impression-AMAZING! I am giving 2 stars only because Daniel & Richard were kind, courteous & provided service that was calm & friendly! Thanks guys I took my car in only to have the hood release cable reconnected as my friend forgot to reconnect it after replacing a headlight. No big deal right?! Well, it should've been no big deal anyway. The owner, Bob, not a friendly guy & every time I drive by there now, I will remember his greed & lack if integrity!! He charged me $120, actually $128 with tax on labor for a small job that took 5 minutes!!! As if that weren't bad enough, he repeatedly, with urgency, told me that is was a temporary fix & that I NEEDED to replace the hood release cables for which, with parts & labor would be about $300!!! WHAT?!?!? He told me that because my car had just over 90, 000 miles, it was time to replace them anyway! WHAT?!?!? I was not born yesterday & I have had numerous vehicles with over 100,000 miles that never needed new hood release cables. In fact, I have NEVER heard of anyone ever needed to replace a hood release cable!!! Daniel & Richard, i thank you again for your service with a smile & kindness to earn my business but unfortunately, Bob, you are yet another greedy & dishonest shop owner!! Nowadays most people will take the time to write something negative but won't ever take the time to write a positive comment. Take the negative comment posted by Max J. on 4/11/20. If you analyze it, he admits it was his fault for not accepting the owners call and text to come get his car. Pima has limited parking so it is important for vehicles to be taken when the work is completed and it is not only inconvenient for them but rude to not take it when it's done, especially for a simple oil change. As for waiting 5 minutes and then walking outside to one of the bays is concerned, so what? In this era, a 5 minute wait is nothing and the distance from the shop to the bay is every bit of 10-12 feet. Pima is a small, yet efficient shop that does good work, so they are busy. I've been a customer since they opened under the current owner. They have worked on all my vehicles, including my Porsche, and I have absolutely no complaints about them or their work. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Keep up the good work guys !! read more

Driving by I saw they had a $6.99 oil change so I went in. They got started then Anthony showed me the struts leaking a liquid on the outside and the very abnormal wear on the tires. He also checked and found a motor mount that was broken, something to do with torque (it's on the top of the motor). I could plainly see a hole and it was easy to move around. Well I haven't had anything done in over 4 years and it's 9 yrs old. Probably overdue for some kind of work and these problems seem serious. He gave me a great price and the work was done so fast I couldn't even take a nap! Oh yeah, they take you home and pick you up too. Anthony took the time to explain to me, an old woman, so I could understand and he showed me the problems. Thanks for that. I feel these guys are honest, professional, polite, fast and I strongly feel they wouldn't take advantage of women like some do. Work is warrantied. My truck was having issues that were intermittent wiring problems that were only happening on and off while driving. Terry at Pima Automotive really went out of his way taking the time needed as well as his guys time to find what was wrong with my truck and to fix the problem. They were very thorough and efficient with the repairs and the cost was extremely reasonable for labor and parts. I've tried having this issue fixed at other automotive places two different times and they could not track down the shorts and misfires that were occurring and were unable to fix my vehicle. I recommend Pima Automotive they have excellent customer service with Terry and the front and they have great guys on their team to diagnose and fix the problems that can occur in any vehicle. read more

I have an old SUV that needs a lot of work done on it. I took it to Bob who provided estimates for the things I knew needed to be done (it was obvious to a non-mechanic) and also many other things. He showed me what was wrong while the vehicle was up on the rack. I could clearly see what he was talking about. I could only afford part of the work at that time, but will gladly take my vehicle back to them once I can afford it. I feel like Bob was upfront and honest in telling me what needed attention right away and what could wait. By the way, my father was a mechanic by trade, so while I'm not a mechanic, I do know a bit about cars. I know Bob knows what he's doing and talking about. I would recommend taking your vehicle there and asking for Bob. read more

I want to say that my experience with Pima Automotive was the best! I went in there to have some work done on my car and found myself in a situation that Bob (owner), Justin, and Mia all worked together on it and helped me out tremendously. They really went far and beyond to help me and that to me was very impressive about this business. Customer service at its best! I left there a very happy and satisfied customer. Will I return??? I woke up to a flat rear tire today.it was just another issue added to my list of things that needed to be done to get my truck running. I decided to go to Pima automotive right down the street I was quoted a great price on the one tire that I decided to get all four replaced not only did they give me a great price I found the service I received was second to none. In fact I thought they were so great that my trucks there right now having a throwout bearing replaced. If I could give this company a -50 I would. My friend took her vehicle there to get it repaired to the tune of almost $5,000.00. Completely Unprofessional! They billed for services they did not do, left the parts thrown in a child's car seat in the original packaging. THEN THEY HAVE THE AUDACITY TO SAY BRING IT BACK. REALLY ARE THESE PEOPLE ON DRUGS. Then they ran a swamp cooler directly on the interior of the vehicle. People pay a lot of money for vehicle and trust mechanics. Mechanics that have no integrity, morals, values or customer service. I have never wanted to sue anybody, this has made me want to sue for damages and theft. read more

On Friday afternoon, our rearview mirror dropped out of its' housing while we were on a trip to Tucson. We called at least 5 places, none of which would see us, some not for another two weeks. Shawn (Sean? Shaun?) answered at Pima Automotive, and said -- "Bring it on in, I'll take a look!" 45 mins later we arrived and were greeted by Shawn's friendly face. He looked, and said, "hang on, I'll get you out of here in no time." He fixed it in 5 minutes. I cruised on over and a very welcoming, well-informed man named Dan was the individual that saw to my needs. He explained everything thoroughly and efficiently, to where I fully understood everything. I called and made a appointment, when I got there everyone was nice. They were a little busy, but they made it seem like they made me a priority. Bob Boatner was very nice, asked to make sure service was good. While thing took me 20 mins and unlike other places that try thier hardest to get more money out of you, they just simply told me I had an issue with my axle, quoted me and didn't pry when I said I could afford it today. My wife and I have been taking our cars here for several years, since they went out of warranty from the dealer. What I really appreciate is the fact that they actually check out the car when we bring it in. I have found their prices to be very reasonable (not the cheapest, but very fair) and the work has been excellent. If there is a problem, they will fix it.
